Drag and Drop Pdfs?

Hi, I used to be able to drag and drop pdfs into my iTouch via iTunes, but now it won't let me do that. Is there anyways I can do this?

The list of file types supported by drag-and-drop is the same as that supported by the "Create > PDF from file" menu inside Acrobat - for example on Acrobat X Pro Windows, the list is as follows:
3D files (U3D and PRC)
AutoCAD (dwg, dwt, dxf, dwf, dst)
Images (bmp, rle, dib, gif, emf, jpg, png, pcx, tiff)
JPEG2000 images with any file extension
Excel (xls, xlsx, xlsm, xlsb)
Powerpoint (ppt, pptx, pptm)
Word (doc, docx, rtf, docm)
MS Publisher (pub)
Postscript (eps, ps, prn)
XPS
Plain text
HTML
JDF (jdf, mjd)
Multimedia (flv, f4v, mp3, swf, any h.264-encoded video)
Word (.doc and .docx) files are supported, provided you have a copy of MS Office with the PDFMaker plugin installed to handle the conversion.
Files from Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) are not supported by Acrobat as they have their own dedicated methods to export to PDF.

How to drag and drop PDF into Word with Reader installed.

I am trying to drag and drop PDFs into MS Word. I have Reader installed. Every time I get the following error:
I notice in the Task Manager that AcroRd32.exe runs. I know I can do the long method...Insert Object, etc, but that's way too time consuming for multiple files.
What do I need to do so I can just drag and drop?

I want the inserted file to be an icon.
If only closing Reader were the simple answer. When I drag & drop, Reader starts up in the background (hidden), then closes on its own as well. Even if I have another PDF viewer installed and set as the default viewer, AcroRd32.exe still launches for the drag & drop process. The only way I have found to make it work is to remove Reader completely. I don't want this to be the solution.
Is there a reason Adobe has caused this behavior? With Reader 8 installed, I am able to drag & drop just fine. I don't understand why Adobe wants to alienate its users like this.
I appreciate that you're an MVP, but does Adobe have a response or solution?

Cannot drag and drop PDF pages in Yosemite Preview App

I suddenly cannot drag and drop PDF pages into the open preview PDF Yosemite> Why?
I open a PDF in preview.
I used to be able to simply drag a PDF from the desktop (or a JPG) into that open PDF in Preview.
Now it won;t let me?
Is this a bug or is there a new procedure for this?

Have you run any "cleaning" or "optimizing" apps on your Mac or have any antivirus software installed?
Boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and repair both the disk permissions and the disk. Reboot normally and try again.
If the above fails reboot into the Recovery volume and reinstall the system. Repair disk permissions afterward.
Also, as a test, log into another user account on your Mac and see if the problem persists there. If it does then it's a system wide issue. If not, it's an account issue.

I download firefox 5.0 and now I'm having trouble dragging and dropping PDF files into Google Docs and I can't view the PDF once uploaded. I had no problems with this in the previous verion of Firefox

With firefox 5.0 I can't drag and drop pdf files in the google docs screen. When I do eventually get a pdf file uploaded I can't view it. I get "no preview available". In my previous verion of firefox (4.something) I had no problems with this and I was able to drag and drop and after uploaded I could view the entire file.

Thanks one again. I know you helped me the last to. I do have the Deja Vu font set in my folder. I downloaded and the last time. So I don't know if there is supposed to be more or not, but those were installed with Windows-XP after my reformat.
This is really driving me nuts. as I've done several re-formats on my computer and several friends computers and even upgraded hardware so I am not necessarily a software or programming expert, I am somewhat advanced when it comes to computers in general and can usually diagnose the problem but these font's are the problem and they never were before.
I did see in another forum that if you had a Dell Computer and did the Microsoft update for the onboard video card driver that it could be the culprit, but I have that disabled being I have a much better graphics card so the updates from Microsoft for the onboard video weren't installed.
It' a Dell Dimension 3000 with an Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller so I don't believe it is the culprit being it is disabled. The actual video card that I am using is a PCI Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT with 1 GB Memory. And I didn't have any problem before.
I appreciate the help. But still can't get things to work. Live Help Chat doesn't open for another two hours so maybe they can do "Remote Access" or something and can check setting and help me. But if you come up with other suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Unable to insert or drag and drop PDF file into PowerPoint 2010

Hi all. I am trying to drag and drop a PDF file into a power point file (PowerPoint 2010). However, power point responded with the error "The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You
may need to reinstall the server application". I also tried to use the Insert feature "Insert --> Object --> Choose from file", yet also getting this same error message. This is what I've tried:
a) I've tried to disabled the Adobe Protected Mode on Adobe Acrobat Reader 11, yet no luck.
b) Also tried on a machine got Adobe Reader 9 installed, still getting the same error message
c) Tried to register the OLE library, no luck
I haven't tried to re-install Office 2010. It looks like this is a Office 2010 issue, have any one of you encountered this issue and is there a solution for it? Drag and drop Excel and Word file into power point is working fine. Thank you.

I would suggest you try a complete re-install and see if issue persists.
I know I know, but you've already tried the Most Possible solutions (disable the protected mode/ register the OLE libray). It might worth trying a complete uninstall and re-install.

Drag and drop pdf files to Acrobat plug-in dialog

Hi guys,
I have an Acrobat plug-in application based on ASDK7 use MFC, it has a UI dialog could make user add files to the dialog.
Now, I need to implement drag and drop files to the dialog.
But the file is simply opened by Acrobat always when I drag&drop files.
Drag&drop works fine in simple MFC project in Windows 7.
Is there need any settings in Acrobat preference?
Or how can I stealing drag acceptance from Acrobat App class in code?

If you could drag and drop pages before, it wasn't in Reader. You no doubt had Adobe Acrobat (Pro or Standard) which shouldn't be confused with Adobe Acrobat Reader. They recently added Acrobat to the name of Adobe Reader so the confusion about which product you had and/or have is understandable.

I'm trying to archive (for myself and others for easy access) about 50 fairly complex .ai files in a single Illustrator Default PDF and maintain editability and preserve layer and grouping integrity for every separate file, and, i'm probably going to have to do this hundreds of times (at least!) in the future. Once i save the initial first pdf file through Illustrator (wish didn't even have to do this, but seems no way to do in Bridge), then open the resulting pdf w Acrobat Pro, can i then just select an entire folder's worth of ai files in Bridge, drag and drop them into the pages panel and still have the dragged and dropped files also preserve all their AI info and layer/ group integrity? An if not, thinking if not based on 20 similar experiments, what's a fast way to do this. Doing this manually each time: opening each file in AI then saving as AI pdf, then combining and arranging them all after the fact, would be, well, fairly effed in terms of time, carpal tunnel, arthritis etc. Experimented w Bridge PDF Output batching (terrible rasterized lo-res results, but great for its intended purpose) and just dragging and dropping into Acrobat (lose complicated layer names and info, all flattened to single layer). Any help most appreciated, and as i do not have regular access to das interwebs (i live on a boat) would appreciate and heed gentle admonishment if i've misposted or broached any community etiquette here. I've researched this as well as i can but can't find anything efficient/ elegant not involving InDesign, and even then the details are skimpy. Thank You! Getting mentally exhausted and not a little loopy. Keep in mind had to teach myself both Illustrator, Acrobat etc with access to the very limited offline help menus (the boat), so a complex answer involving learning InDesign would be learning curve can't even imagine with everything else struggling to do. PS If it helps I'm running the diligent dogged dusty beloved workhorse CS4 Design Premium on 27" monitor 2010 Mac (OS X 10.6.8), and took advantage of rare housesitting net access to install all most recent updates of everything, i'm barely competent w AI, PS, BR and been tackling Acrobat for past couple of months now....

im glad that somebody is atleast trying. perhaps i need to be more clear.
i will step by step describe the issue in detail.
1) i open an email that contains an attachment .dxf or .pdf
2) i click on the attachment shown in the email and aprompt comes up asking if i want to open or save the attachment.
3) i select save. (by default it saves to a downloads folder. but i have also chosen to use other folders (when i did that it wouldnt save them)
4) i highlight the downloads arrow on the right top side of my browser and click it
5) it pulls down a list of the files that i USED to be able to click and drag onto my destop, or anyplace i chose
6) used to be when i clicked and held the left mouse button down on top of a file of my choosing it would highlight and as i began to drag, a ghost image would appear of the file i was dragging. showing a (/) symbol next to it showing i couldnt drop the file within the browser and a + simbol showing that i could drop the file when the file was hovering over a place where i could drop the file such as my desktop or other folder. now, when i click and hold on the file.... I DONT get anything. when i drag. nothing follows. while i am "dragging" in the area that is my browser, i get the pointy finger icon. as soon as i enter an area where i could have dropped the file as before, i get my standard cursor arrow.
its really as if the drag and drop feature just dosent work IN FIREFOX.
i can drag and drop files all day long everyplace else.

Is it possible to combine pdfs from software containing the file by dragging and dropping them?

We have a piece of software that we profile PDF files into it and then have a need to combine those PDFs into one file. Is it possible to just drag and drop from the software into the combine files area? I know if you open the files first, you can do that or if you save the documents locally, then you can combine them. It would be ideal to just select the files in the software, then drag and drop them into the combine pdf window. We are using Adobe Pro XI.

The workflow you are talking about is very much possible with Acrobat and a good example is Microsoft Outlook from which we can select multiple e-mails and simply drag into Acrobat combine dialog box for combining.
What happens when you drag files from you software? Is it public software?
Can we test your software?

Drag and Drop an Attached AutoCad File in a PDF Portfolio to and Open Drawing in AutoCad

I currently Printed all my Details to PDF and combined them all into a catalog to view them. I them attached all the AutoCad files to the PDF. I can open the AutoCad file in the pdf, but it will open it as a new drawing int AutoCad. I would like to Drag and drop from the PDF file to a drawing that is already opened in AutoCad. Any suggestions?

PDF XFA form/internet browser/JAVA application/Drag and Drop

Hi guys,
I need to be able to open a PDF XFA form (a PDF document where I have some input controls and javascripts for validation) inside a JPanel.
If this is not doable am thinking if i can open this pdf form in a web browser by launching it from my java application.
And when I do this, I want to be able to drag and drop between the java application and the browser.
Anyone can tell me if that is doable?

I am trying to drag a single item from a JList to a text editor, Word, etc. I have two problems:
1) I can't seem to get just the item in the JList to drag. It wants to drag the entire JList component.
2) How does one define the remote application as the drop target? Have not found any examples either.
Is the drop target actually the system clipboard?

I used to be able to do this with my Ipod Touch 4G but now i seem to be forced to add to the books library on itunes and afterwards press sync, at the least id like not to be forced to press sync =/ but i remember that i used to be able to just find the pdf, then drag and drop directly to the ipod touch (on itunes) without having to add it to my itunes library
and ideas what happened

PDF made with distiller vs drag and drop on Acrobat icon.

How is the file handled differently if I us the stand alone distiller verses just dragging and dropping, say an .eps to the Adobe Acrobat Pro program Icon. I have this question because I have found using distiller on occasion will not give me a correct font as apposed to drag and drop on Acrobat Icon which will keep the font correct. I'm using Acrobat Pro on a 2 X 2.66 Dual Core Intel Xeon Mac and OSX 10.5.8.

This is exactly how I understood this to work as well. …and yet the resulting PDF is not the same in the tests I have done.
But, I have taken the same exact .eps file and draged it into the distiller window and had certin fonts not show correctly in the resulting PDF. When I take this same exace .eps and drag it to the Acrobat icon it creates a PDF file with all fonts showing correctly. I was looking for some insite into why this was the case.
