Drag and drop to bookmarks toolbar in ff 4?

In FF3 i could drag a url from the location bar onto the bookmarks toolbar to have it create a bookmark, but in FF4 I can no longer do this. Is there some hidden option to turn this back on or is it permanently disabled?

What are you really trying to do? Burn some stuff to a CD? If so, Finder->Help->Mac Help->burn should get you started.

• I can no longer drag and drop my bookmarks or url icons

All of a sudden I can no longer drag and drop my bookmarks around the sidebar or drag url icons into the toolbar or sidebar. The problem seems to have coincided with the download of 3.6.14. The only other thing I did around that time was download Adobe Reader X (10.0.1).

YOu're not looking in the right palce. That's inside the iPhoto Application.
You need to look inside the iPhoto Library
As I sid above:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there

• Disable drag and drop of bookmarks?

I would like to disable dragging bookmarks from the bookmarks sidebar onto the browser window, but still be able to use it when rearranging and organizing bookmarks. I am constantly accidentally opening a bookmark when I am on another website. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance...

It works now. It seems to have fixed itself.

• Can I disable drag and drop for bookmarks?

If not, it would be nice to have that ability in a future release, even if just added to about:config. Sometimes when I click on a folder in the bookmarks menu, Firefox thinks I want to move it when I don't. Thankfully I can hit escape to cancel the operation. However, there are times when I don't catch it and the folder ends up moved to the bottom of the list (or worse, into another folder).

Note that it should be possible to use "Organize > Undo" in the Library (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) to undo such accidental changes, provided that you haven't closed Firefox.

• Drag and drop bookmarks ...

Hi,
I use the «bookmark bar» to categorize my bookmarks by themes and organize these themes with multiple nested folders. Is it possible to drag and drop new bookmarks to these nested folders not only to the first root level ?
Thanks for listening.

Use Cut & Paste if you have a problem with dragging.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

• I can no longer drag and drop pages into my bookmarks toolbar in the new firefox

I uninstalled firefox to try google crome. Now i have uninstalled crome, and gone back to firefox. After restarted my computer i put the bookmark toolbar up but i can no longer drag sites into the bar. When i do it opens them in a whole new window.
When i used this before i would have saved tabs in my bookmarks for easy use,
Is this a bug or am i doing somthing wrong
Thanks
Mandy

for me the problem was caused by the Torbutton add-on.
I have read that there are about 5 or 6 other add-ons that also inhibit Drag and Drop functionality, not just the Torbutton add-on. The list is somewhere in the main Firefox support section (but it's tough to find the answer there twice).

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
*View > Toolbars
*Right-click empty toolbar area
Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup

• I can no longer drag and drop bookmarks

I have used Firefox for several years and can no longer utilize my bookmarks toolbar. Yes, I know that you must drag and drop from the globe and/or lock icon (I have done this for years) but now all of a sudden it isn't working. I can not drag anything to my "Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar Plus" 1.2" which was updated on 2/27/15. When I attempt to drag a website to add to the toolbar I get a circle with the line through it (kind of like a no smoking sign etc). Any help is greatly appreciated

Any luck if you keep the Ctrl key pressed when dragging the link to initiate a copy?

• I use to drag and drop an web address into a link toolbar, can't seem to figure out how to do this...?

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and with it I got the latest Firefox. There is nothing like learning 2 things at one time. On my old XP and 3.? all I have to do was drag and drop a web address into a link toolbar. Saving all my frequent visited or just sights I want quick access to, to a toolbar quick button. I have been playing with this for days and decided to try this Forum. I did find the Bookmark toolbar, but cant seem to figure out what is if for or if you can drop into it. When I right click it and Customize, it shows me add on buttons, but nothing to do with web addresses or alike...
Bottom line; I want to be able to drag and drop a web address into a toolbar for recall latter and be able to edit the address with a right click at a latter date in necessary...
Thanks, Mike

You can drag and drop the favicon also known as the [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Site+Identity+Button site identity button], at the left hand edge of the location bar onto a toolbar to bookmark the site.

• Can't drag and drop bookmarks

''locking this thread as duplicate, please continue at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1049800 /questions/1049800]''
I can no longer drag and drop websites into my Bookmarks Toolbar, I have been able to do it for several years and now it stopped work. Yes, I know you have to drag from the globe/lock it just stopped working is all. Thanks

I found the answer to my problems. The Torbutton add-on inhibits Drag and Drop functions (especially of Bookmarks). When I disable Torbutton, Drag and Drop works again. When I enable it, Drag and Drop stops. So, obviously, I disable it whenever I want to manually sort items with Drag and Drop.
I have read that there are about 5 or 6 other add-ons that also inhibit Drag and Drop functionality, not just the Torbutton add-on. The list is somewhere in the main Firefox support section (but it's tough to find the answer there twice).

• I have 9.0.1 on 2 pc's, both xp sp3. On 1 the 'open new tab' button is visible, on the other, the 'open new tab' button is not even available in the 'customize toolbar' menu for dragging and dropping. Why?

I used the same installation file, but on 1 pc, the 'open new tab' button is available in the 'customize toolbar' menu and can be dragged and dropped onto the navigation bar. On the other pc, the 'open new tab' button/icon is not even available for dragging and dropping. I uninstalled firefox completely, including settings and preferences, then reinstalled, but that did not correct the missing button.

Hi,
Please try '''Restore Default Set''' in the '''Customize...''' window. If it's still not visible, one reason could be that the button is already placed on the toolbar but may be hidden behind another icon or toolbar.

• Can't drag and drop bookmarks in FF12

I just upgraded to FF 12.0, and I find that I'm unable to drag and drop bookmarks in the "Show All Bookmarks" window. I used to be able to organize my bookmarks that way, order them, put in folders, etc. I can delete bookmarks, and I can even "copy" and "paste" them to move them around, but I can't drag and drop them anymore.
When I go back to FF11, which I had archived, it works fine.
iMac 10.6.8

it's the torbutton extension on its own that causes the issue with firefox versions 12 upwards - i also tried it with a fresh test profile. the torbutton extension is no longer maintained by its developers - they recommend a switch to the tor browser bundle, see [https://www.torproject.org/torbutton/].

• Safari Bookmarks Lost via Drag and Drop to Finder

All of my most important bookmarks vanished without a trace after I dragged and dropped their folder from the "Show All Bookmarks" screen in Safari 4.0.3 to a Shared Network Drive in the Finder sidebar. The Shared Network Drive was not connected at the time (I hadn't realized), but I received no error message that the bookmarks could not be copied to the destination--the folder and its contents were simply gone. I've scoured all drives for the bookmark files with no luck, and I confirmed that dragging other files (not bookmarks) to the disconnected Shared Network Drive gives an error message and no change to file locations.
Admittedly, this particular situation is somewhat rare, but it seems like a kind of shoddy black hole in the software: no alerts, no trash bin, no bookmark files to be found.
Obviously this is a perfect example of why one should backup bookmarks via Time Machine, MobileMe, etc.--but I really just want to understand the problem, and to see it resolved if necessary. Any ideas? Similar experiences?
Thanks for reading!

Thanks very much for your reply, Carolyn.
I tried a Spotlight search as you suggested, but found no file called "Safari Bookmarks.html," and nothing with a similar name. Would that be some kind of master log of my Safari bookmarks?
I'm looking everywhere for an alternate record of those web addresses (router, cache, cookies, Google), but unfortunately I empty my Safari history regularly and nothing else has panned out so far.
