Drag and drop to CDRW - Leopard 10.5.4

Is there a reliable application, preferrably a free download, that will give drag and drop capability to a CDRW? I'm relatively new to Mac (I'll never go back to Windows!!!), so I could also be missing something.
Any suggestions are appreciated!!

What are you really trying to do? Burn some stuff to a CD? If so, Finder->Help->Mac Help->burn should get you started.

Drag and Drop not working in iPhoto

I have a brand new MacBook Pro running Lion, and recently when I try to drag and drop in iPhoto, it stops working. I want to drag photos from iPhoto to a folder on my desktop in order to upload those pictures online. I have never had a problem with drag and drop in Snow Leopard, but suddenly Lion does not want to let me do it.
I checked around and found out about repair permissions, which I did, then I restarted the computer. Drag and Drop worked for a few minutes, then all the sudden it wouldn't let me again. I was in the same album, trying to drag and drop the same group of pictures, and nothing had changed when it just stopped working again. I really don't want to have to restart the computer EVERY time it wont let me do this. Does anyone have any other advice? Command copy/paste works for now, but drag and drop is just easier so I'd like to get the issue resolved! Oh, and my software is completely up to date as well.

Does anybody have any ideas?
I've updated to the new version of iTunes since I originally posted this,
but the drag and drop feature is still not working. This is making it
impossible for me to update anything on my iPod.

Drag and Drop export of vcards to Mail no longer works in Snow Leopard

In 10.5, you could drag a vcard from the Address Book application, drop it on the Mail icon on the dock, and the vcard would be automatically attached to a new mail message. This no longer works in 10.6. Tested on a G4 iMac running Leopard and a Mac Pro on Snow Leopard. Kind of a bummer, as I used to send new contacts to business partners all the time this way.

There have been other reports of drag and drop to the icon not working like it did/should.
I imagine rewriting it for Docksposé caused a lot of code changes. Hopefully, they will fix the things that have fallen through the cracks.
I forgot to mention the only workaround I can find is to create the new message first, and then use Docksposé to drop the vCards onto the new message.

Macbook Pro, Snow Leopard , can't drag and drop?

I have a 13" Macbook Pro and I am unable to drag and drop with my trackpad but I can with a wired mouse. I have reinstalled Snow Leopard and checked every conceivable setting and checked the trackpad. The trackpad will do everything else but 'drag and drop". Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sounds as if it may be a hardware issue with your trackpad - I would take it into your local Apple Store or an AASP and let them run diagnostic tests on the trackpad. If you've already reinstalled SL, that would be my suggestion.

Can't drag and drop MP3 files into GB since Snow Leopard upgrade

Not sure if this is a known issue but ever since I have upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6), I have only been able to import (drag & drop) some MP3's into a podcast project. For example, some files I was able to import before, no longer can be dragged and dropped to create a new track.
I've tried creating a new podcast project but thats not working either. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

that if you choose delete the prefernce files .plist/.cs and use "SAVE AS" vs "SAVE" the files I referred to above get saved when attempting to open th project again. I tried it and it seems to work for me now. I hope this helps others with the GB *"File Not Found"* dilemma in Leopard and Garageband V5.1

How to auto close finder window after drag and drop?

In Tiger, I would file away items on my desktop my dragging them to the hard drive and then digging down to the appropriate folder. The finder window would then close automatically after dropping the file. Is there a setting in Snow Leopard that will enable similar functionality? Whenever I complete a drag and drop now the finder window just stays open, which isn't a huge issue, but I'd still like to change it. Thanks!

File can not be moved by drag and drop in the finder when not open Finder windows

With the operating system OSX Snow Leopard, it was possible, for example, a file from the desktop to pull drag and drop on the Finder icon, the page opened after a short and you could put the file in a folder.
At this stage I must first open the Finder to drag a file into the destination folder.
Is it a setting or is there anything wrong with my Mountain Lion properly?
It is often the case that several windows of other applications are open or in Fullscreen are, then I would, as I also already knew and am accustomed, for example a file regardless of the location from which drag drag and drop in the Finder without leaving the / program / site to open the Finder, before returning to the file then select I wanted to move.
Note: For all other programs it works.
Finder not only in where it makes the most sense.

   Picture 2: Finder icon flashes but the Finder window does not open. Finder windows have previously by clicking on the icon in the Dock will be open to pull a      file into it.

Yes, all I can tell you is that Finder does not have that function in ML. Your system is "working as expected".

Desktop drag and drop icon for my "other" computer

i really need an icon for my MacBookPro desktop to reside on my Mac Pro desktop (and vice versa) so that I can just drag and drop copy (or move) data from one volume to another. sort of like what I have with my dropbox icon in the sense that I can just keep this on my desktop and in the View Pane of Finder and drag and drop items or open the volume etc.
is this possible and i am just not getting it to work because i don't have things set to mount automatically or is there a restriction that does not allow this that I don't understand?
i am on snow leopard and the connection is via wi, but I could plug in via ethernet when i know i will need to do this sort of moving of data a lot.

Why cannot I drag and drop songs from one playlist to another?

Actually I have two questions. I just updated from Leopard to snow leopard. Now when I import songs, it says "Do you want to import to burn playlist?" I click "yes". Then when it is finished copying, I go to "playlists" on the top of the screen and click on the "burn playlist" and it says there are no items. Where did the songs go. I would like to burn a playlist that I imported this way. I haven't tried arranging songs in the order I want them yet, but now see that is an issue also. I also used to see a list of my playlists on the left side of the screen and the songs within each of those playlists when I clicked on them and easily could drag and drop songs from one playlist to another. How do I do the same functions that I used to do before I updated? Does this update make it impossible to do the same functions as before? Where can I find a "manual" of sorts to direct me to explain this new format? If there is no way to do these things, I will have to say that I want my old iTunes back. Can I do so??? Actually, the only reason I updated was so that I could play pix and movies from my camera into iPhoto. When I did so, it said I had to update other programs to get iPhoto to work. I am trying very hard not to be very frustrated. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am organizing my external HD and want to move files NOT COPY them. How do I drag and drop folder contents without Mac automatically copying them to the "drop" location?

I am sorting out all the clutter and duplicate files on my external HD. In doing this I am moving the entire contents of folders to new locations. Some of these folders cointain gigs of info. I do not want to have to spend large amounts of time waiting for hundreds of gigs to copy somewhere then moving the originals to the trash and wait even longer deleting all of them. All I want to do is move the files up a subfolder, but the way Finder goes aobut doing it can be a 400 GB swing taking hours. How do I just "move" them?

I did a global change of permissions for the entire documents account in the currrent user account using the get info and apply to enclosed items.
I think what is happening is that the Documents folder normally carries an "everyone deny delete" ACL, meant to protect it from accidental deletion:
$ ls -lde ~/Documents
drwx------+ 6 t1 staff 204 Oct 9 08:51 /Users/t1/Documents
0: group:everyone deny delete
ACLs are special types of permissions that do not show up in GetInfo, but can get propagated if you click "Apply to Enclosed Items" on a folder that carries them. Affected files that acquire that ACL would require password authentication to move or delete them.
I think the following Terminal command (copy and paste it) should remove such ACLs from items within the Documents folder:
chmod -RN ~/Documents/*

Drag and drop not working in itunes?

I've recentlt udated to Snow Leopard and my itunes id up to date. First thing I noticed is that many things I used to do via drag and drop won't work anymore. or instance, i create a play list then I want to dag songs to it but it won't do it. I have to right click on the file and then select 'add to play list' and choose which playlist to add to. next, I want to rearrange the order of songs in a playlist and before I wold just click on the song and drag it up or down into the spot I want. Well It won't let me do it. Basically you need to add tracks in the order you want the first time.
What's going on here, is this the way it is now or am I doing something wrong. BTW, I'm a long time mac user (since early 90s) and this is the most non intuitive experience I have ever had on a mac.

well I discovered the problem after some research. It seems that if you have a wacom tablet and mouse, your mac won't allow you to do some drag and drop features. I have a microsoft mouse attached as well and it works fine.

I had Leopard. I jumped to Mountain Lion. Sorry sorry sorry I did.   Many things are stupidly difficult to do, minor tasks, that once were EASY.
I USED to be able to go onto a website, then DRAG AND DROP the ICON from it ONTO my desktop. NO MORE.   Frankly, there is NOW no easy way that I've found ..........May I also say, Mountain Lion is one horrendous piece of ........##@@!!!.   I gave my old iMac to a friend after upgrading it for her...with Mountain Lion.   I wish to God I'd not tormented her with that OSX. I wish to God I'd not tormented myself with it on my own iMac.
Someone tell me......there MUST be an easy way to Drag/drop a website to my desktop for regular use??? IF NOT, we have YET another glitch on this stupid OSX.

I realize my post made me appear UNcalm. Sorry. I am rather irritated by this and have been.
When I now go to any website, I can only go on it by clicking FULL page. In other words, I can get to it by 2 ways, by putting it into the "google" bar, or by FULL screening to type in http....www....etc.
I am then in Full screen to access any website. THEN,   I can no longer drag/drop the website's Icon to my desktop.......If I diminish, I lose the website. It may bring up the same site, but will not let me drag the site's icon ONTO my desktop to use in the future.
That seems to have disappeared with Mountain Lion. I was able to do it with ease on Leopard.
Repeat:
In Leopard, I would go to a website and could drag that website's icon ONTO my desktop. Period.
I am no longer able to do this with Mountain Lion.
If I try to drag anything, NOTHING happens OTHER than it replicates the page...it does not place an icon on my desktop to use in the future.
I am CALM. I AM frustrated.

Ringtone is not showing up on my iphone4 when i drag and drop.

I am having a problem with ringtones.I have gone through and made a custom ringtone. I tried to put it into itunes and sync. But when I did that itunes wanted to erase all the music and movies off my phone. I drag and dropped it into my iphone 4. it shows up in the ringtone section of itunes. But I cannot acess it. it remains a grey colour. My phone doesnot reconize and no acess through iphone general >soound etc.
I dont know what to do? I have not read any problem as mine. I am hoping this is a simple fix that i dont have to delete and reinstall all my music on my phone.
ps- I know the ringtone works . I plays in itunes.

Drag and drop samples for instant load and playback. MIDI SAMPLE PLAYBACK

HI, i am looking for a application where I can drag samples in it for instant midi playback.
I know logic has a way to do this through the ESX24, but the problem is there are multiple steps and it can takes around 1-3 minutes to finished the task.
I am looking for something on a more "spend less time setting up" event. Basically an application where I can manual drag and drop for quick load. I would like to use the Roland Hand-sonic as my midi play back

sonther, I've only tried the audiofinder out a little bit running in demo mode. I liked it ok, except that I thought I'd go and let it index my audio files, which took a very long time (fair enough, I have many).. but I didn't really see any great advantage from having done so. also I found that for some files it would give me a waveform overview, others it would say preview not available or something, even though they were the same format. maybe that was a demo limitation thing.
but it did get me thinking about how much I'd like to work better with my audio in the finder.. I've hated the audio import and audio window management in logic for a while so I'm always looking for better ways to do things.

now, I just checked and the website is currently updating this page. but go back later until you see it back up. there was a QT demo video (complete with that generic dutch-english accent..), showing what looks to me like exactly the enhancements I've been looking for, to work much better with audio in the mac finder. and of course it's got a few things that I didn't even know I was looking for, but now I know.
I'm hoping it gets released soon.. and I'm also hoping that it's not going to mess around with leopard when that comes out, because I have a feeling I am going to get very used to using this thing.
even for things outside logic, like quickly rounding up my work in progress files to instantly convert to mp3 and AAC right there in the finder, and then automatically have it all placed in an email ready to go, it's going to make life a whole lot easier. especially when you've been working hard on a deadline project, the last thing you feel like doing is messing around keeping your work in progress files in order, prepping mp3s or whatever and emailing, after you've finished a long day at logic.. seriously, check out the video when it's back up..

I need to create a Desktop Pane ore something.
Here I want to place a bar with some buttons. By pressing on some of these it should create a new instance of a little Frame, Button, Label ore something where I can add a choice ore what ever.
But this isn�t the Problem jet.
What I need is a Pane like I tell but the created Object must be movable in the frame. And another Problem is to link them to another.
All should be like a MS Visio ore something. Objects that linking to the direct follower.
I hope someone can help me. What I need would be at first some code who show me how I can create some movable objects and how I link them. The lines must follow the objects.
I hope some off you can help me.

Well, the obvious question is... did you try just dragging them between screens, and what happened? My guess is that it works - but if it doesn't, there's the nifty Get Clipboard Contents/Paste Clipboard contents commands that work between screens, and they work to copy and paste files cross-computer (which is actually much more convenient than drag-n-drop, since you don't have to worry about positioning two windows juuusst right...)
