Drag & drop not functioning

I'm having a strange problem with drag and drop in Finder. Often when I try to drag a file into the trash or into another folder, the file will follow the cursor but when I release on the trackpad the file does not "drop." It simply remains attached to the cursor, no matter how much I click or otherwise. Everytime I find I have to force Finder to relaunch. It's become a bit of a pesky issue. Any thoughts?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

The scaffolding teamplate which you use to create scaffolding page is actually a design prototype which helps you to create similar types of pages instances very quickly without authoring each page separately (for example news, aticle types of pages) and that is the concept of scaffolding only.
For example - When you go to location http://localhost:4502/miscadmin#/etc/scaffolding/geometrixx you will see a "News" page which is an example of scaffolding (this is a similar page which you can create using scaffolding template).
Now if you open this page you will be accessing http://localhost:4502/cf#/etc/scaffolding/geometrixx/news.html and here you will see already design page.
     1. if you access page properties from side kick you will see how this page is configured using target template and target path
     2. if you go to design mode using side kick you will see how the component has been design (which is similar to what appears on page when you came first time)
     3. Now come back to normal view of that page (http://localhost:4502/cf#/etc/scaffolding/geometrixx/news.html) and author this page with some dummy property and click on "create" button. I know here you can not author the image as it comes as disabled empty box.
     4. once you author the content and click on create button it will create an instance of scaffolding page on the same page you can see the link on the top of same page.
     5. Now access that page, when you access that page the page will take reference of target template you configured using pare preoperties to display the page.
     6. On this page you will see the same component you configured and when you will edit it you can author the image from there directly.
Now question is why to configure same component two times half data from scaffolding and half data from page but answer is the design is correct because the page design which you have created (for example http://localhost:4502/cf#/etc/scaffolding/geometrixx/news.html) is just proto type to create actual page instances and prototype can not holds values for page instance (specially image until it doesnt configured correctly for page instance in this case) which exist only when you create pages using the scaffolding page prototype. Otherwise you have to do more customization by extending scaffolding "/libs/wcm/scaffolding" changing the code and design OR you have to design it according to your target page strtucture which you have configured in page properties (specially image node).
If you want to create your own page prototype using scaffolding template and want image to associate just copy paste "/etc/scaffolding/geometrixx/news/jcr:content/dialog/items/items/tab2" node to your newly created scaffolding page prototype.

Copy/paste and drag/drop not working in Mt. Lion

After two weeks of searching, I can not find the hangup which is causing my iMac 27" 10.8 to stop copy/paste and drag/drop following successfully doing the same shortly after startup. In Safe Mode, it doesn't happen, so I'm wondering how to track down this problem (extension?). I have to restart in order to get it functioning again after a short time of working. There has to be some kind of timing, like a program installed with a time limit which probably was forgotten in Lion and then reared its ugly head in Mt. Lion. Any suggestions for tracking this puppy? Or is there a program I could buy to do so?

Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
You can then quit Terminal.

LR 2.1 & 2.0 ~ DRAG & DROP not working correctly with photos when moving, applying keywords

Today this issue started, originally in 2.0, updated to 2.1 and issue continues.
Issue: DRAG & DROP feature with mouse (or pad on laptop) will select multiple photos, (with CTRL & SHIFT key as typical with Windows machines)but when I try to move them to a different folder, or drop them onto a keyword, it will not work.
Specifically, I select two photos to move to a different folder, the selection work, but when I try to "grab" the selected photos, Lightroom defaults to One Photo, and it will not grab it to move it. However, I can "right click" on the intended folder and can select "move selected photos to folder" and that works. This issue also applys to assigning keywords, and I would assume other similiar actions. I should note, that I can "rotate", assign "labels", "stars", and Keywords from Keyword sets, it just happens with the "Drag & Drop" feature.

The feature works correctly in other Windows programs, so I'm sure it's related to Lightroom and not the mouse.
I have a Windows Vista machine, 3GB RAM 160GB HD, ~ 75% free space, AMD Turion X2 Dual Core 70 Processor. Everything has worked fine up until this morning.
Prior to upgrading to 2.1, I optimized my Catalogue. Everything seems to work fine except this feature.

Drag by the actual image area of the thumbnail, not the surrounding 'fake slide' cell.
That's a feature of Lightroom's grid view. Clicking on image area of thumbnail keeps the multiple selection and makes the image clicked the primary select. Clicking on the outer thumbnail area deselects all but the active image.

Drag-Drop not working with JRE 1.6.07

I have a problem where (when using the next-gen java plugin) applets do not appear as drop targets.
In more detail, I have a .NET winforms application, which has a web browser component on it running an Oracle forms application in a Java app. In JRE 1.6u7 you can drag an item onto the applet and it will notify .NET that a drag-drop operation has occurred. In newer versions of JRE (i've tested 6u11 and 6u13) with the "enable next-generation java plugin" checked, this drag-drop no longer works. (instead of a "hand" cursor, you get a "not allowed" cursor).
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Some podcast episodes I can drag & drop, not others

New current gen iPod Touch, 16gb. Just downloaded iTunes 8.2 (which may have been my first mistake, in hindsight...always wait for that .1) on an HP Vista laptop (which I know is my second problem...can't be helped).
When I started using it (just got it a few days ago), I let the automatic sync update my podcasts. But I couldn't find a setting I liked just right to keep the ones I wanted on and not others, so I decided to turn off the auto-sync and just drag & drop.
But when I started dragging my podcasts over, I noticed some would come over, and others wouldn't. All of my podcasts are subscribed in iTunes, and it's even such that I can get certain episodes of a particular podcast, but not others. Tried restarting iTunes and iPod both. I've got plenty of space left, and even tried deleting some casts, but the ones that wouldn't sync before still wouldn't.
Also have tried downloading the missing episodes via the iTunes store app on the Touch, but the same casts, when downloaded, still don't show up it seems.
Any ideas? This seems to be a very random problem.

I think you will find that podcasts are handled pretty well by iTunes if you let it do it's job. Dragging and dropping podcasts seems like too much work - especially when you get the problems you are seeing.
BTW, the setting that works best for me is the simplest - Sync all unplayed podcasts. I refresh my podcasts at least once per day, and when I sync, listened to ones are removed, new ones are added. Seems pretty simple. If you have used an older iPod, partially listened to podcasts were removed as well. This is not true with the touch. Podcasts remain on the touch until you have finished with them.

ICal to Mail drag & drop not working in OSX 10.10

In a frequently used work flow I dragged an iCalendar entry and dropped it to mail, where it was received as .ical attachment. Sometimes I used copy/paste to insert the entry's data as plain text.
This does not work any more with 10.10. Is there any better way to insert the ical file into an existing (reply-to) mail, without creating a blank invitation first and doing copy-paste there?

Thanks, I have seen this but this process has the same number of steps as the blank invitation - I do not need to close the empty window in your version, but have to locate the .ics file in the finder.
Could it be that a product manager or programmer at Apple did not understand the merits of the old drag&drop and has killed this feature without offering any replacement?

Drag & Drop not working

I can drag a selection of images on my powerbook to my desktop perfectly. However, on my Quad, it won't work. Any ideas?

You can only drag&drop images that have previews.
Make sure on your Quad you have previews on.

Is it possible to create a Drag&Drop Interaction within a responsive design? (Captivate 8)

I've also completed the form to request new features. But in the meantime could I ask how people get around this?
We have several courses created for desktop computers which include drag and drop tasks, and feedback from learners is that they would like to be able to access them on mobile devices. So as I understand it we have three options:
Create separate courses for mobile devices, using responsive design but losing the drag and drop tasks. This would mean we have two versions of each course, one for desktop and one for mobile, which may cause issues with updating, etc, and the mobile user won't get quite the same learning experience as they'll lose the drag and drop tasks.
Adapt the main desktop course so it is responsive, and lose the drag and drop altogether. This has the advantage of everyone seeing the same course and it only needing updating once.
Don't use responsive design and display the course in the same way on a desktop as on a tablet. This may be fine for larger screen tablets, but wouldn't be great for smaller tablets or phones as you'd need to do a lot of zooming and scrolling.
I'm just wondering what you all do to get around it?

Drag & Drop Not Working In Audition CC 2014

When I try to create a CD layout using the media browser, the selected file or files will not drag and drop into the CD Layout panel. However, if I right click on the file, I can choose "Insert into CD layout" and then it works fine. Am I doing something wrong with drag and dropping? I don't understand why that method isn't working.

I just discovered something. What I meant above is that I cannot drag and drop files from the "Media Browser" panel. Surely that should be possible. After all, that is how you browse your music files. If I first double click a file in the browser so that it opens in the "Files" panel, I can then drag and drop files from there. That is ridiculously tedious however because that opens the wave file and closes the "CD Layout" panel. I then have to reopen the "CD Layout" panel before I can drag and drop a file. I'm pretty sure you should be able to simply drag and drop from the Media Browser. Any comments from Adobe?

Import via Drag & Drop not working with LR CC (after Update from 5.7)

I always imported my pictures by just dragging them in the Windows Explorer and dropping them to the Lightroom Gallery tab.
This does not work with LR CC anymore.
The longer way via "Import" works fine.
Any suggestions?

With Gallery i meant Library, my mistake (wrong translation, i am using the german version).
What works with your setup doesn't work with mine.

Drag & Drop Not Responding Along With Other Problems :(

About a week ago, my macbook stopped allowing me to copy and paste text. I've tried numerous safe boots, restarts, shut down and stat back up, even sleep and wake. Nothing is working. I cannot copy and paste at all. Just recently, it also stopped letting me drag and drop icons on my desktop. I can still move open windows, which doesn't make sense. Last but not least, the spotlight magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner has disappeared. I don't know what's going on, but it's really bugging me!!
Someone help. I need this computer for work and school!!

Did all this start when you updated to 10.8.3?

I've looked over several support forum about this one and haven't found an answer yet.
I've been using iTunes + iPod for several years now, i'm not new to this, but for some reason today _I just can't drag and drop anything on the left side menu whether it is to drag songs in a playlist or in my ipod_.
I've restarted. I've reinstalled iTunes. I've logged-off/logged-in the Apple store. Everything is up to date. I've done everything and just don't get how this could have happened 'cause I haven't changed a thing.

File Drag & Drop Not Working

I downloaded iTunes 10 and the new Safari this morning, and restarted. Now I can't drag files (but I CAN drag windows). Any ideas?

Never mind. I got frustrated not being able to do anything and spent a few hours reinstalling the OS and updating it. All's well now.

Mp3 drag & drop not working in GB

I can't drag mp3 files into GB, some will go but some won't. Using Lion or Snow Leopard (separate computers and neither way is working). Can anyone help? My recording session starts in an hour!
