Drag & drop to other programs won't work

Today i installed firefox 24. I tried to drag & drop a picture from google pictures to the program tag & rename. That didn't work.
Drag & drop to my desktop works ok.
Drag & drop from internet explorer to tag & rename works fine.
Till today i had a nightly firefox and there drag & drop works fine. But after the last update from the nightly firefox was a lot slower.
So i got back to firefox 24.
I have a 64 bit pc with windows 8.
I hope someone can help me

I tried what you said and it is true that the image directly dragging out a white box, but I'll give you a solution to see if it works. Instead of dragging the image directly, first select "View Image", and once you open the image in the browser, drag image to the document. In this way I have not had any problems with the images and the websites I've tried.

If you have a tool, try removing the battery cover and chech out. Some times the camera pin may have been misplaced. If so, you can fix it yourself.

My microsoft word and excel programs won't work and files won't open.

After an automatic HP update, my Microsoft Word and Excel programs won't work and my files won't open. What caused this and what can I do to fix the problem without losing my files? I have files that are part of my work and I HAVE to have them ASAP. Please help.

Please find the steps to resolve your issue.
Open Installed Updates by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then, under Programs and Features, clicking View installed updates.
Click the update that you want to remove, and then click Uninstall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Or Try this step
If this does not resolve your issue then you can try a System restore to the date where unit was working fine steps provided below for you.
Start in search box type System Restore then click on it then select the Date where unit was working fine.

At this point it's clear that it's been damaged and will need to be take or sent to Apple for replacement.

It would appear that you can ask for an exchange but it doesn't specify any time frame... Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can add to this.
By the way, if you've replaced the drive so many times, perhaps there's something else going on elsewhere.

The tools on Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 seemed to have frozen. The crop symbol is 3 of the symbols nest to each other. The hand move tool is not one hand but 3 next to each other. Other tools won't work at all. Really nice!

Ya, okay ! I use a number of PSE programs, one of which is PSE 9. The tools for some reason seem to have frozen. When I use the move tool I don't get just one hand but 3 hand symbols all next to each other. Same thing with the crop tool, I don't get one symbol but 3 all next to each other. There are a couple of tools that just don't work at all. It's like the PSE 9 got hit with some virus or sorts. Oh well, live and learn. Trying to get through to tech service is next to impossible.

Have you seen this other thread you started about this problem?

The keyword is "migration." Migrating or copying files for Adobe applications usually does not work. Not all of the necessary subsidiary files are copied to the right location.
You'll need to first clean up the mess with this tool:

URLs clicked in other programs won't load in Firefox

Just within the last 1-3 weeks (?) or so, I find that I can't click on links in other programs and have the URL load in Firefox, which is my default browser. They always used to load perfectly and switch me to the new tab in FF, but now they don't.
At first I tried disabling a couple of recent FF add-ons one at a time to see if one of them might have been the problem, but that didn't seem to solve it, though I may have missed one. Still, I can't imagine how an unrelated add-on could cause URLs not to load from other programs. I have tried loading URLs by clicking on them in Thunderbird, WordPad, MailWasher Pro, and even Libre Office, but all of them either just twitched the screen for an instant and then stopped, or else gave me a message such as "WordPad was unable to open the URL" or "There was a problem sending the command to the program" (Libre Office). However, when I copy and paste those same URLs into FF and hit Enter, those sites load perfectly.
I may be wrong in this, but it appears that something has changed within FF that now prevents links clicked in other programs from loading. My only other thought at the moment is that this '''may''' possibly have started about the time I upgraded from FF 10.0.2 to FF 11.0.1, but I have no firm evidence to support that theory.
This is really an annoying and inconvenient problem, so any help in resolving it will be hugely appreciated!

The problem is fixed now as a result of some help I got on the WindowsSecrets forum. Once I realized that the problem was occurring not just with MWP and Thunderbird, but with other programs as well (I tried WordPad and Libre Office, both of which likewise failed to load the URL into Firefox), I posted the question on other forums, trying to see if others knew anything about this issue. I got the answer from a forum member on this page:

In case you're not a member there or can't load that page, here was his suggestion:
With FF closed type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the start menu search box, click the item that appears and delete localstore.rdf FF will replace it on starting.
I did that and all four programs that had previous problems loading URLs, including MWP, now load them perfectly. The only (minor) problem with this solution was that localstore.rdf apparently stores all the info about such things as the Firefox toolbars and their customisation, so all that was lost when I deleted the file, but I got them re-customised fairly quickly and all is well. Any thoughts regarding what localstore.rdf does, why this problem happened, or how to prevent it from happening again will be appreciated.

What to do after making mask layer adjustment--other tools won't work??

I am new to photoshop and haven't been able to go through the tutorials yet. I managed to make a selection, create a new Hue-Saturation adjustment layer, and adjust the hue-saturation. But then what? There's no save button. The "apply" button is greyed out. I did File>Save but now I can't use my other editing tools (healing brush, clone stamp,etc.) They don't work and the circle are black. Please help!

You don't need to do anything to save your adjustment layer. It's done. But since that's the active layer, other tools won't work till you click back to a layer that has some pixels in it (the adjustment layer only contains the adjustment--there's nothing in it for most tools to work on). Just go to the layers panel and click the layer that contains the actual image, if you only have one layer (probably background) plus the adjustment layer.

Drag & Drop in finder and spotlight stopped working after 10.5.7 update

Fresh brand new iMac here, clean install 10.5.6, everything fine, copied user data back, all fine, applied 10.5.7 update, bang, admin and user can no longer drag & drop.
I did a permission fix which finds a LOT wrong, that worked, once, next restart gave me the same problem. Running permission fix did not resolve it this time.
Seeing the machine needs to be urgently used I'm re-installing but would LOVE to see a fix as I have 3 other machines with exactly the same problem.

Try a restart.
Try trashing your com.apple.finder pref located in HD/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences, then restart.
Apply the stand alone combo update 10.5.6 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

Some podcast episodes I can drag & drop, not others

New current gen iPod Touch, 16gb. Just downloaded iTunes 8.2 (which may have been my first mistake, in hindsight...always wait for that .1) on an HP Vista laptop (which I know is my second problem...can't be helped).
When I started using it (just got it a few days ago), I let the automatic sync update my podcasts. But I couldn't find a setting I liked just right to keep the ones I wanted on and not others, so I decided to turn off the auto-sync and just drag & drop.
But when I started dragging my podcasts over, I noticed some would come over, and others wouldn't. All of my podcasts are subscribed in iTunes, and it's even such that I can get certain episodes of a particular podcast, but not others. Tried restarting iTunes and iPod both. I've got plenty of space left, and even tried deleting some casts, but the ones that wouldn't sync before still wouldn't.
Also have tried downloading the missing episodes via the iTunes store app on the Touch, but the same casts, when downloaded, still don't show up it seems.
Any ideas? This seems to be a very random problem.

I think you will find that podcasts are handled pretty well by iTunes if you let it do it's job. Dragging and dropping podcasts seems like too much work - especially when you get the problems you are seeing.
BTW, the setting that works best for me is the simplest - Sync all unplayed podcasts. I refresh my podcasts at least once per day, and when I sync, listened to ones are removed, new ones are added. Seems pretty simple. If you have used an older iPod, partially listened to podcasts were removed as well. This is not true with the touch. Podcasts remain on the touch until you have finished with them.

Drag & Drop artwork & Add to Library not working

This is only a recent problem, using the latest version of iTunes on my Dell XP PC and I'm upable to drag and drop from Windows Explorer into iTunes. I can add music and artwork into iTunes using the 'Add to Library' option but when I try to drag & drop into iTunes, I get a black circle with a diagonal line through it.
Drag & drop from windows explorer to say my desktop works fine. Any thoughts?

I've tried this and it has now readded all the old mp3 & M4a files but is not adding the new AIFF files any more.
I then tried using apple encoder to covert the files and import as M4a but that doesn't work either.
It's like it doesn't like any of my new folders.
I've tried applying the 'share'/'permissions' to all subfolders of my music folder where the music is stored but this didn't work either.
Any other suggestions v welcome as I'm running out of ideas

Links from other programs won't open in Firefox

This has been asked a number of times before, but none of the answers worked for me. I have Firefox 26.0 (the most stable for me) and Thunderbird 24.6.0. After a computer crash and reloading both programs, I first noticed the problem with links from Thunderbird, both clicking and right clicking with "open in browser". But then I remembered trying to open help in MS word and Frontpage which are supposed to open from the internet.
I have checked that Firefox is the default browser, changed the file (none) file transfer protocol, then deleted it, etc. Nothing helps.

I now have FireFox 32.0.2 no joy. I have loaded ThunderBrowse which took care of Thunderbird but still can't load links from other programs. I fixed this before (other backups, I crashed my windows C drive and have been trying to restore), but can't remember how. I think it required reloading IE (I had deleted IE on my latest restore), but I have now done that with no joy.
When I click on a link from another program, nothing happens, and when I right click and am offered "open in browser" nothing happens, and when offered " copy browser link" it doesn't copy.
I tried resetting FireFox, no joy.
Noticed control panel "set program access" doesn't hold, always goes back to custom, and defaults to "uses default browser"!

Do you mean that you updated your computer's iTunes or the iPad's iOS ?
If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
