Drag jpg from Desktop to Artboard

Now I am using Adobe CC (Photoshop and Illustrator), I am not able to do so. The mouse cursor will turn into a "no entry" icon when I try dragging a jpg into Adobe Illustrator CC or Photoshop CC. How to solve this problem?
During Adobe CS6, I have the habit of dragging images directly from desktop to Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. It opens without problem.

Hmmm, it works for me. I'm on a Mac, though. Have you tried several different jpegs? Is it only jpegs, or everything?

To import photos from a hard disk:
    Do one of the following:
Drag one or more photos or a folder of photos from the Finder to the iPhoto main window.
Drag one or more photos or a folder of photos from the Finder to the iPhoto icon in the dock.
In iPhoto, choose File > “Import to Library.” Then select the photos you want to import and click Import.

  • Can't drag files from desktop to project files window

Im using the latest premiere pro version, 7.2, and while I can drag files from my desktop to the project window in premiere 6, for some reason its no longer possible in premiere 7.2
whenver I try to drag audio or video files from my desktop or any folder to the project files window at the bottom left I get a forbidden sign or circle with a diagonal so the only way to import files is through the import menu, which is less straightforward and slowlier
Ill be happy to provide more data if required
    thanks
PS: obviously Ive already created a sequence so the problem is not that

The latest version is 7.2.2 (33)
Upgrade to that and see if it helps.

  • Can't drag items from desktop to Captivate 6.1 64bit

I updated from Captivate 6.0.1 to 6.1 (both 64 bit) and can no longer drag items from the desktop or Adobe Bridge to a Captivate project.  I reinstalled 6.0.1 and could.  Again updated to 6.1 and again could not.  The Import to library button and the import PhotoShop menu items work fine.
    Any ideas?

    Hi There,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
We have checked that in a local user account we can drag items from the desktop in Captivate 6.0.1 but not in Captivate 6.1.
After logon to the built in administrator account of the computer you can drag items in Captivate 6.1 also. It is because of the permission, now dragging requires all kind of permissions on the computer.
    Thanks

  • Opening/Dragging Images from Desktop into Photoshop CS4

I'm trying to import/drag/open a png image file from finder, my desktop, or anywhere on my hard drive into an existing photoshop document.  Unfortunately, the image does not drop into the existing document; it just bounces off.  No new layer is created.  When I try to import the photo manually from File-->Open, the image is opened in a new document instead of the existing one.
This only occurs for images saved on my hard drive.  Any image pulled from a web browser and dragged/dropped into the document creates a layer.  I'm running Snow Leopard.
I've installed the latest software updates to Snow Leopard and installed the latest CS4 patch, version 11.0.2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's because when you "drag" from the web browser, you are performing a copy-and-paste from one application to another one. The Finder is not involved.  As I said earlier, "The Finder knows nothing about dragging Photoshop layers."
My original post was poorly written.  Please ignore my digression on file-->open, which loads the image into a new layer in a new document, which it has always done and like you said, is normal behavior.
I was emphasizing that I can't find a way to directly insert a photo from the OS (Snow Leopard) running CS4 into an existing document in one step.  The directory path of the file on the OS is meaningless in regard to this behavior.
Tai Lao wrote:That is perfectly normal, expected behavior. The Finder is not involved.  As I said earlier, "Are you suggesting it used to behave any differently for you earlier? ??? !!
I am running CS5 on Snow Leopard on another computer.  Dragging and dropping a picture located anywhere on the OS into an existing document works flawlessly, and loads the image into a new layer within the open document.
You've lost the script by focusing on the finder.  The file path of the image, whatever it is:
    /Users/alex/Desktop/image.png
    /Users/alex/Documents/image.png
    /Users/alex/Pictures/image.png
    should be meaningless.
Dragging and dropping an image from OS X to Photoshop is the rule and this failure the exception.
There is something I'm not doing or a misconfiguration causing this.

  • Drag & Drop from Desktop

I am trying to drag jpeg photos from my desktop into iMovie 11. There are several photos that have come from my Sony Bloggie and worked fine while importing into iMovie 09, but now that I've upgraded I can seem to get these photos into the library?

You can not do pictures in the new iMovie 11 "movie trailers" at least, not with the one I've chose to use.
True. The best way to use pictures (stills) is to firstly duplicate the Trailer (right-click on project name in Project Library and select Duplicate Project). Before duplicating the Trailer, complete as much of it as you can - including adding dummy clips where you wish to insert stills rather than video. Now convert the duplicate to a normal project (File>Convert to Project). The converted Trailer can now be edited in the normal way. Replace the dummy clips with your stills, ensuring that you maintain the same duration - otherwise the music will get out of sync and will end at a different spot.
Another way is to create a normal project containing just the stills you want to use in a Trailer. Export this project (at the best setting available) then re-import to an iMovie Event. The clips will now be in video format, so you can drag them into your Trailer. When creating the stills project, ensure that you give each clip enough duration to fit the proposed position in your Trailer, as you won't be able to lengthen them once re-imported to an Event.

  • Removing dragged photos from desktop

I have many photos in "Pictures" that I want to import into iPhoto. I wanted to view those from my desktop and move the ones I didn't want to import to trash prior to importing them. I highlighted a group and dragged them to my desktop. However, they appeared on my desktop stacked rather than individually.
Trying to separate them individually has become tedious and to move all of the group to trash, I am having to do it individually anyway.
Is there a program of way to move the whole group to trash without separating them individually? I would like to clear my desktop more quickly if there is.
Next time, I will import to iPhoto and then move the ones I don't want to trash! Live and learn, hopefully, some of the time anyway!
    Thanks for your help.

Open a Finder Window at the Desktop in List or Column View.

  • How to drag file from desktop into Finder window?

I use the four finger gesture to reveal my desktop, then I drag and file and intend to put it in one of the Finder windows that was there before the "reveal desktop" gesture. How do I get the windows to come back while the file is being dragged? There seems to be no hot corner or keyboard shortcut for "unrevealing" the desktop.

Got it! That was SO EASY...thank you very much

  • Can't drag docs from desktop onto the HD icon.

I am no longer able to drag documents onto the hard drive. I get an error message: The item “xxxxxx” can’t be moved because “Macintosh HD” can’t be modified. Do I "authenticate" or run to the apple store. I've had this computer for 2 years; updated to 10.6.7  several months ago. Today the problem started. Please advise.

Select Macintosh HD instead. If you use the authenticate option, you'll be asked to provide your password. The file will then be moved or you'll get a similar error message, in which case you'll need to unlock the drive from the Get Info window or elsewhere.

  • Dragging photos from desktop to trash suddenly doesn't work.

I have a number of photos on my desktop that I am trying to move to trash.  The notice that is now on my desktop is "Preparing to move to trash".  This preparing message has been there for several days.  I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you.

You may be able to restart the process by going to the Apple logo (top left of your screen) and click on that.   The seventh item down in the drop down panel is Force Quit.   Click on that and in the drop down panel click on trash if it is showing.   You could then try the process again.
You cannot be looking in the right place for the secure empty trash.   You will have Finder in your Dock.
Clicking on that will bring you to a screen with 'Finder' written in the top left hand corner next to your Apple logo.   Clicking on the word, Finder, will produce a drop down panel in which, the third item down is Empty Trash and the fourth item down is Secure Empty Trash.   Click on whichever one you need to use and then on the prompt which will appear.

  • Can No Longer Drag JPG files From Finder Directly Into .fla Stage?

For the past six months I have been following a manual process to convert JPG files (exported from InDesign) into SWF files for display advertising assets.
Using pre-built FLA files as templates (configured with clicktags):
Open FLA templates (3 separate files for 3 IAB ad sizes)
Drag JPG from Finder directly into stage of FLA file, aligned to
Publish to output folder for renaming
Today, for no apparent reason, I can no longer drag anything into the stage of any FLA file.  Not just the pre-built templates.  Nothing will drag & drop into an FLA stage.
    What I have tried:
    Restarted Mac
    Reset Flash preferences
What I know I can still do:
Drag files from Finder into the Library, and drag into FLA stage from there
    "File > Import to Stage..."
This works but because of my naming convention it prompts to import them all each time because Flash sees the sequence
This is not another step I am willing to contend with for my manual workflow
Me and my creative team need to process hundreds of assets like this each week, so I'm very anxious to discover why functionality that was working, suddenly stopped.
    Running:
    MacBookPro Retina OS X 10.8.5
    Flash CS6 v. 12.0.2.529

just want to add my annoyance to the pile here. I can't see any logic behind removing the drag and drop function, especially when adding a new folder is now a multi-step process that is far from obvious. to start a new playlist with local folder content you now need to:enter settingsclick into advanced settings (basically all settings now seem to be "advanced"?)manually find and add the foldergo through the adventure of finding the files in your library.
-- because they may or may not be listed under "local files" - you won't know because Ctrl+F is also removed. so you have to remember/know what the album you added is called and search for that. if you have a mixed bag of file names from various albums, you're basically shafted; there's no way to find them all with a single search.then you can add them to playlisteta: but wait! there's more! if you have more than 15 files? you're **bleep** out of luck, because the search will only display the first 15 hits among your local files, and then show you spotify library tracks.I can't help but feel as though spotify is doing everything they can to stop us using spotify to listen to local files, as bugs that make it more or less impossible persist through multiple versions - and now features that seem to me to be basic functionality are being removed?mega minus points from someone who's been using spotify since 2008.

  • Can't drag docs from Stacks onto desktop

Ever since I have had my Mac, which I bought only in March, I've been totally baffled by the Stacks facility.
I put documents straight from the desktop onto a folder onto hard disc - it appears to have done this. I then check it a few days later - no document in folder and I then have to panickily check the Stacks to see if a copy is in there.
It usually is, so I then have to start again -drag doc onto desktop and then put it into folder and hope the darned thing stays in the folder this time.
Has anyone any idea why this glitch happens?
I have rung Apple and they weren't that helpful.
    Any input very gratefully received.
    Roz

Actually I've just figured that I have worded the orignal problem incorrectly - obviously having a very dumb day....
The problem is that when I put docs from desktop into folders onto hard disc, it doesn't work and they then end up in Stacks, which is a bit different. I'd prefer Stacks not to be existing, and then I'd know if the docs had actually "stuck" in the folder, rather than appearing to be on hard disc only to find out a few days later they aren't, and are just floating in the Stack....
Is it possible to switch Stacks off entirely, so this glitch won't occur?

  • Can't drag songs from itunes onto anything (desktop, flash drive, etc.)

    This is weird.
All of a sudden, I can't drag songs from itunes onto the desktop, any folder on my hard drive, my flash drive, or my spare hard drive. On a health computer, if you drag a large number of files, first they land as white icons and they fill in as they get transferred. With my computer, the white icons stick around for a few second and then disappear. The first time I try, I can transfer 1-10 files successfully. After that it stops working. Here is what I've done.
1] Upgraded my system from 10.3.X to 10.4.5
    2] I upgraded itunes from 7.0 to 7.3.1
    Has anyone seen this before?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Jeff

Since I can not edit my own post I'll have to reply to myself... Sorry for the "spam" on the forums.
I DID find something out (while playing with this some more)...
Try and copy as many songs as you can with UNIQUE titles. I've noticed that when you drag the songs in iTunes to the desktop (or a folder) the file it creates/copies is named like so: "songtitle.mp3."
Apparently the Finder and iTunes don't play well together [enough] to prevent several files of the same name from appearing - in most OS's I've played with (Linux and Windows, in addition to other Apple & Mac OS's over the years) there's a mechanism for handling this... Windows just adds a number to the end the of the second (and all future occurring) file(s) of the same name - as does most Linux builds I've used... Apparently the Finder in OS X just doesn't do anything - at all - when it discovers this "name error."
What I had to do (I was copying my Christmas music - do you know how many "Jingle Bells.mp3" files you can have?!) was make many folders or manually rename EACH FILE one by one so that others could be copied in the same place since the file name would always be JUST THE SONG NAME and the extension (and I do tend to keep my files in higher bitrate MP3 format for easier shuffling from OS to OS as I tend to use (in case you've not noticed) many different ones at any given time).
So, try avoiding any songs with the same title (or altering the title in iTunes somehow), or make separate folders to keep the same song name files from being created in the same place; and see if that doesn't clear this problem up for you - it did for me. ^_^
    And sorry for being so "wordy" on this post. ^_^;

  • Apple Remote Desktop ARD 3.7 cannot drag files from local to remote.

Apple Remote Desktop ARD 3.7 cannot drag files from local to remote. I've been able to drag n drop folders and files from my local to the remotes for years until the update to 3.7. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I've tried changing preferences. No luck. Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere.
I'm on 10.8.5. Remote is same with 3.7 client. This happens with multiple remotes.

Let me guess.  The Get and Send clibboard contents buttons are greyed out too?
It is only affecting me on clients already upgraded to 3.7.    None of the clients on older versions are affected.
ARD is also crashing a lot.
Most of the time I go to a screen share to a client it takes way too long, so I clock Stop,  then try to connect again and works straight away.
Hopefully a patch will be released soon.
