Drag&Relate enabled iViews with PDK

Hello everyone,
I want to create a Drag&Relate-enabled iView with PDK on EP 6.0 SP6 but I did not find any guides about this topic. Does anybody know how to do this?
thanks in advance,
Jens Harzer

Hi,
the new, enhanced, pure Java, Drag&Relate is being released at part of PP SP7 (Stack 05), and now is available to use as part of the Portal Platform.
It is very easy to create content that enable Drag & Relate using the simple iView Wizard (both 'Query iView' and 'Application Integration iView') as well as the Role Uploader - they all create content that is 'unification enabled'.
of course, it is not that simple, and one needs to define the right systems, use the correct templates and so on, but, it is possible (as well as using the newly Context menu notion instead of Drag & Relate).
I encourage you all to consult the Portal Platform documentation to see how it's like, we are planning for more roll out activities soon.
Thanks
Ori

  • Drag&Relate JDBC iViews

I have 2 tables in Oracle DB called Employee and Department which are linked by Foreign Key relationship of DeptNo. Can i create JDBC iViews such that if I drag DeptNo. column from Department iView into Employee iView, it displays me all employees working for that department.

    Hi
you can do this in two ways.
    1) Use the Unification platform.
    2) Create simply iViews and create a Drag and Drop target
Using method number 1 you can create as many iviews based on as many different tables within many different databases. However, there is additional costs involved in using this software (check your licensing agreement).
The other method would be to simply have the two iViews that you have developed using the Drag and Drop targets. This way you can simply drag a particular column or columns onto another iView. The target iView can then retrieve these values as they will then be parameters to the iView. You can then execute the second query using these values. Hey presto you have you drag and drop iViews. This is NOT Drag and Relate as the query is defined within your own code and has nothing to do with the actual foreign key relationships, so therefore you can be very constructive with the queries
    I hope this helps

    Hi,
Drag&Relate and Related links iviews are 2 different types of iviews.
    1) Drag&Relate iview is part of the unification capability of the portal which can be used to get meaningful data by creating relations between business objects. Check
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/76/c6693e54d6d112e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
    2) Related links iviews are iviews which are added as links or refernce iviews to existing iviews or pages so that it is easier to find them while navigating in the portal.

  • Drag&Relate Target

    Hi All,
I am trying to follow the following steps in CE 7.1 EHP1:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/49/330a10fd695aa8e10000000a42189d/content.htm
But when I open an iview to edit, I am not able to set the Drag&Relate Target property to true as I am not able to find it.
    Can anyone help?
    Regards,
    Malita

    Hi Malita,
Its there in iView Properties just below domain property.
    FYI:
To assign Drag&Relate capability to an iView:
           1.      In the Portal Catalog, right-click the iView you want to convert to a Drag&Relate-enabled object, and choose Open ® Object.
           2.      In the Property Editor scroll through the iView properties until you find the Drag&RelateTarget property.
           3.      Change the value of the Drag&Relate Target property to 1 and click Save.

  • Drag&Relate Targets

    Hi All,
When i open the page, i can see an option called "Drag and Relate Targets" What is the functionality behind it? How can it be acheived? Can anyone please help me out in this?
    Regards,
    Divya

    Hi Divya,
Drag&Relate targets are iViews that possess drag-on capabilities and have been associated to a page or iView containing draggable data in the form of links. They can retrieve from a database source information that is related to the information that is dragged onto it.
    Advantage:-
Drag&Relate targets offer the possibility of a relation-resolving process that connects information from independent systems.
Drag&Relate means that when you click an iView, you launch a request that returns information. If that iView is defined as a Drag&Relate target, then when a link from another iView is dragged onto it, the launched request is modified by the additional dragged content. The dragged content acts as conditions that filter the data which is returned by the Drag&Relate target iView.
For example, a user dragging a part number from an asset management system iView onto a geographical information system iView that is a Drag&Relate target, could map all installations of a certain type of equipment at a particular site.
To enable Drag and Relate option go through this link:-

To learn more about this option read through:-
    [DRAG & RELATE|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/18/e74512e3d644449e1807f130ef283e/frameset.htm]

  • Unifiers for drag & relate with oracle forms application

    Hi All,
Is it possible to do drag & relate functionality in the portal with oracle forms application?? Is there any unifiers already available for drag & relate functionality with oracle forms application ?? If yes, then can anyone share the information.
    Regards

Hi Moses, you can use D&R with querys in Oracle using query iviews.
You can find a lot of information in:https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/ep.sdn?page=unification_welcome.htm

  • Drag&Relate with data ownership

At this time, the Drag&Relate don't take the data ownership into consideration, however you can choose the Drag&Relate form in the Data Ownership Exceptions - Excluded Forms. The users can see all the objects and they can open all objects. So this time we must disable the Drag&Relate for this user, but it makes difficulties in searching and reporting

    Hello,
Currently you can perform Drag&Relate with CRM 4.0 and EP 6.20.
In the future the same capability will be enabled over CRM 5.0 and EP version > 6.20

  • Drag&Relate with error 'no matching records found'  when adding UDF columns

in SBO 2007A I added a large amount of UDF fields to marketing documents title section. Then I tried Drag&Relate, as result i got only the error 'no matching record found ....'.
I removed some of the UDF Fields and Drag&Relate works correct. It seems to be a length problem of the table row. But I have no information about such a restriction and the error message dont say anything about length problem.
Does anybody know about this behavior and the maximum length of table rows, or is there any other solution to fix this problem?

    Hello,
there are approximatly 170 fields and most of them are alphanumeric (internaly nvarchar(max)) - when i remove 2 fields it works.
    Best regards

    Hi shivasankaran ,
we also face this problem some times. at this particular issue...
we should make report 4r month  wise only y because our excel sheet contains 65000 lines limit if ur drilling down more fields
from free characterisitc. it cant display.
IF ur case is mandetory to drag 2moths r 3months. just try to reduce drill down fields (r) if this also mandetory, use 2010 microsoft sheet 4r reporting this can use up to 1lac line.
if this also not working. just do this, let me give one example if we r drilling down material & customers 4r   3-4months. one customer can buy N number of material so it will eceeds. just see wht ur  drilling down first material (r) customer. if first material & customer this is not working, drill customer & material.
think this will help, any way let me know wht happen.

  • Drag&relate with user fields

Is possible to use drag&relate when I get value of field from User Field from my Addon?
When I use it, I gett error "No matching records found"
Maybe SAP not support user fields in drag&relate machanism?
    regards
    Krzysztof Sala

    Hi Krzysztof
You can use UDF in drag&Relate but you must be sure that the UDF are in the same module.
To be more specific, the user field that you have created in the marketing documents can give you result in drag & relate only in marketing documents.
    Hope it Helps
    Kind regards

  • Drag & Relate scenario

    Hello,
I have setup R/3 in the portal for drag & relate, and i have a custom iView which I want to use with the R/3 for drag and relate. the iView is the drag & relate target, it needs to be able to (when we drop "something" on it) get the parameters from the the object using the drag & relate context (?) and use them for further processing - i.e use the params in a query , etc. I would like to know, how exactly do i do that? Is that done programatically, or rather from the portal? Do I need to change my iView in order to enable it for drag & relate, and to act as a target? If yes, should i also do that programatically, or by setting up the iView properties? Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards,
    Angel

    Hi Angel,
    regarding your questions:
    (1) Is that done programatically, or rather from the portal?
A: This is done in the portal.
    (2) Do I need to change my iView in order to enable it for drag & relate, and to act as a target?
    A: Yes, Changing iView properties.
    (3) Change iView properties according to the iView type you use. Take the Unification Cookbook from SDN as a practical help for that.
If you need further help, please post again or let me know.
    Merci and Best Regards,
    Andreas

  • Drag&Relate in EP6 SP2

    Hi all,
I am looking for information about how to enable Drag&Relate iViews in EP6. I am wondering if there is some step by step hands-on document available for this?
I saw that in EP5 a unification server was required to enable Drag&Relate. What about in EP6? Can I drag an object from an iView and drag it again onto another one as Input?
    Any hints are welcome!
    Thanks and Best Regards!
    L.Liu

That's a bit misleading. For EP6 on less than the NW04 release, Unification still requires the separate unification server and ss basically Unifier5.0 based. With NW04, unification will be incorporated into the architecture (ie. no longer a separate server(s)). I am in EP6 cert. class right now and the instructor just covered this. He was in class last week for the new NW stuff and this was covered but was still even in beginning stages (ie. no working example in class). Hope this helps.

  • Drag & Relate between two BW reports

    Hello together,
I want to implement the Drag&Relate functionality between two BW Reports via EP 6.0. I have configured the connection between Portal and BW with the report RSPOR_SETUP. The SingleSignOn and the import of business object is working well. After that, I took 2 BW testreports which were prepared for D&R. When I now drag the customernumber of report1 to the target report2, I get the error message "No relation found between the source and target business objects". The business object in both reports is 0CUSTOMER, so what relations should be set?
Where is the mistake, could anybody help me?
    Thanks and regards.
    Gerd Nedderhoff

    Hi Gerd,
You have to link the two iviews. First double click the first iview. Then right click the second iview and make it as the target iview. Then in the navigation panel you see the other iview in the Drag and relate section.
    Regards
    Arun
