Drag&Relate in SAP Portal 7.0

Hello experts,
I have a problem in SAP EP 7.0. I need to use Drag&Relate technology but in this version is not possible because this functionality is discontinued. The reason is that there is a technical reengineering of the Distributed Query Engine (DQE) technology.
But, what can I do? Is there any way to reproduce similar functionality?

I have the same problem, only that I am using EP 6.0 SP16. The DQE doesnt start because of the "Technical reengineering" and there are a number of related functions that are not available in the portal..
For example, I am not able to add Drag and Relate targets to iViews, there is no option for adding it in the detailed Navigation. There is also no Unification section in System Administration. I am really frustrated about it..
Have you found out anything regarding Drag and Relate technology and if it will be continued again in the future? Do let me know if you have found anything regarding it.

Portal Runtime error during 1, 2, 3 Drag & Relate?

Hi,
I have successfully install SR1 version of the EP6. I am attempting to complete the "1, 2, 3 Drag&Relate" weblog. During one of the steps you have to go to User Administration > User Mapping to set the Everyone group user mapping.
I am using sa id and the password I set during my SQL installation.
As I click save button after entering the input I get this error:
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for:
iView:

Hi Jin,
I think SAP note number 796540 will be helpfull to you.
It was known User Management issue which is not connected to any Unification feature.
Personal advice: try to restart Portal server.

Drag & Relate SAP txn to external java servlet

We have a java servlet external to SAP portal that we want to interface to a SAP document. Using drag and relate we want to pass SAP document type and number to the servlet URL. Can some one point me how make that happen in Portal us9ing drag & relate?

You can use HRNPService for creating HRNP links.
The javadocs for HRNP will be fully available from SP10, but I will provide a sample code for creating HRNP links:

getHRNPLink() will return a string in the following format: "hrnp://0:0/pubs_alias/dbo.authors/au_id/50" which you can drop on any unification target.

Purpose of Drag&Relate in Portal

Hi Experts,
I am started learning with Drag&Relate, I noticed help.sap links. I didn't get clearly the purpose of Drag&Relate.
What is the purpose of Drag&Relate?
What is the Difference Between Related Links and Drag&Relate?
And Which ServicePack need to work Drag&Relate in EP7.
I am working in EP7 SP9, it is not showing Drag&Relate Option..
It's very urgent, Please guide me regarding this.

Related links are defined as "Links that access information which is topically related to the content currently displayed in the portal content area." they Helps users to quickly find information relevant to the context in which they are working.Automatically appears when the portal object they are linked to is part of a portal page.
Working in the Related Links Editor of the Portal Content Studio, the content manager can assign iViews and pages as related links to other iViews or portal pages. At runtime, the related links of all the visible iViews and pages in the content area, are accumulated and inserted into the Related Links iView of the navigation panel. The end user can click these links to pursue a specific topic
Whereas in case of Drag & Relate , relationships between iViews is based on Business objects.
Using Drag&Relate, iViews can be started from other iViews. The iViews are related to another with Business Objects. In a Drag&Relate operation, a Business Object is transferred from one iView (Drag&Relate Source) to another iView (Drag&Relate Target) as a parameter. Transfer and starting of the iView is done using by dragging the specified DRAG symbol with the mouse.
A Drag&Relate Source is an iView that contains Business Objects. Drag&Relate compatible Business Objects are designated with the symbol . In SAP BW, Business Objects correspond to InfoObjects of type Characteristic. With a Drag&Relate operation, the characteristic, a characteristic value and the logical system are transferred. When you only click on the DRAG symbol in a BEx Web Application without dragging it to another iView, the master data with attributes from the InfoObject Characteristic are displayed.

SAP B1 Drag & Relate causes DMP Error

We have noticed for windows 7 / windows 8.1 machines that when we come to use the 'Drag & Relate' facility, it is causing those SAP clients to crash with the following error:
I have found on this forum a thread which indicates this may be a bug, fixed in 8.82 PL10. Is anyone able to provide me with the SAP Note number?

Screen painter related doc link in SAP portal

Once you install the screen painter in your B1 application (as any other addon, you need .ard and installer.exe files) you have a button giving you access to the Screen Painter help file. In there you will learn how to use the ScreenPainter.

Drag & Relate Query iView Problem

Hi,
I just trying the weblog
1-2-3 Drag&Relate (or D&R for dummies)
So all the steps mentioned in that i have followed properly but in Content Admin --> unification under Business Objects i do get sales and stores and i define them according to weblog as source and destination but under edit mode Relation Type is Empty which i think should be manual or something and all the other things are same as shown is screen-shot of the weblog and also in the enduser screen i get message
Query execution failed. Exception message: Error trying to execute a query statement against MetaMatrix: Error trying to establish connection to the EIS : null
So i have no clue what could be possible problem

Drag&Relate - BI 7.0

Hi experts,
I would like to use drag&relate functionality in SAP Netweaver Portal 7.0-BI 7.0 systems. I read in some FAQs, that is not possible, but the help.sap.com (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/9d/02b2b4de384af8ae759e55738296f7/frameset.htm) shows, that it is possible form sps12. Do you now where can I found the documentation? Did you use drag&relate in BI 7.0?

1) How can I upload the Old Statistics data( before upgrading to 7.0) i.e Query run time details and into these Infocubes.

The BI process chain uploads 0TCT_C02. How does the virtual infocube 0TCT_VC02 contribute to the report.

3) Again I find the Data Manager Statistics (Details) infocube i.e. 0TCT_C03 is uploaded with 0 records.

Drag&Relate Target

Hi All,
I am trying to follow the following steps in CE 7.1 EHP1:

But when I open an iview to edit, I am not able to set the Drag&Relate Target property to true as I am not able to find it.

Its there in iView Properties just below domain property.
FYI:
To assign Drag&Relate capability to an iView:
       1.      In the Portal Catalog, right-click the iView you want to convert to a Drag&Relate-enabled object, and choose Open ® Object.
       2.      In the Property Editor scroll through the iView properties until you find the Drag&RelateTarget property.
       3.      Change the value of the Drag&Relate Target property to 1 and click Save.

hi all GURUS,
Enterprise portal is newer for me.
I have added Three iviews as DRAG $ RELATE TARGETS in one page and i have aslo adeed Related link type iviews to that same page and i assignd that page to any user
Now when i logon as that user then it shows that ivies in Drag $ relate iview windows as link when i click on it then it will open in new window but i don't found any function like drag and relate in those iview
And also same thing happened means it will open inh new window when i click on Related link iviews.
now can anybody tell me what is the difference between them in terms of functionality and please also show me the method by wich i can achieve that difference.

Unification: Availability of Drag & Relate in Netweaver 2004s

Hi,
I found a comment in the SAP Help on the availability of Drag & relate functionality in NW 2004s.

I understand, that drag & relate will not be supported in NW2004s.
Since we are currently investigating this feature to enhance our portal applications, it seems we are having a problem here when changing the release.
I would be glad to hear about any experience with NW 2004s and this drag and relate feature.
Is it really no longer working ?

I was also experimenting with Drag and Relate and found that DQE was not supported anymore..
Have a look at the SAP note 913483. It doesnt help much but gives a little more information about it.

Steps for Drag & Relate

Hi everyone,
To enable a drag & relate scenario for SAP R/3 system, what are the exact steps to implement this? I've been reading about setting up SAP R/3 system for Drag&Relate on the SAP Library. Must this occur first prior to the setting up the configuration within the portal? Has anyone have experience setting up a SAP R/3 scenario using Drag & Relate?

I read in some document, in iview properties we need to make Drag& Relate Target as True. But i didnt find any property with that name for iviews. For which iviews i can find that.

Hi Satish,
Check the settings under Default Framework Page,
Content Administration->Portal Content->Content by SAP->End User Content->Standard User->Default FrameWork page
Open the Default Framework Page, select Desktop Inner Page and selct Open.
Check the boxes against Drag and Relate iView there if these are unchecked.
You can also open this Drag and Relate iView to check its properties.

Currently you can perform Drag&Relate with CRM 4.0 and EP 6.20.
In the future the same capability will be enabled over CRM 5.0 and EP version > 6.20
