Drag select audio tracks to the timeline

I have several clips I will be adding to the timeline that have 4 audio tracks. I only want the first audio track to go to the timeline. How do I do this?

Disconnect the connectors for the other tracks on the timeline...on the left side.  You will need to load the clip into the Viewer first.

  • Audio track missing on timeline when I insert clip from source monitor

I have the following problem with PP CS6: my media contains two alternate mono tracks (one with the signal boosted as an insurance) and I have PP set up to treat them as two mono tracks, rather than one stereo track. Everything works fine when I drag media directly to the timeline from the project panel. But when I use the source monitor to select in and out points, and then insert the chosen clip into the timeline, only one of the two audio tracks appears on the timeline. Can anyone please explain how to make sure I get both tracks on the timeline via this route?
    Thanks
    DM

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to my case. I've set PP's default behaviour to import as dual mono in Edit\Preferences\Audio. This allows me to drag media from the project panel to the timeline and get two sediscrete mono channels. My problem is that when I go the source monitor route, any clip that I insert does not display two audio tracks on the timeline, just one. I have discovered I can switch the source channel from left to right, which to all intents and purposes fixes my problem, but I would like to maintain the option of getting both channels displayed separately on the timeline if possible.
    Thanks

  • Replace audio tracks in a timeline

    Hi all.
This is actually kind of embarrasing, but here it goes:
I've made a rough cut of some source material with 4 audio channels, channels 1-2 with environment audio and track 3-4 with interview audio.
Me being stupid, I did not enable the second audio track on the timeline onto which the clips where going, hence I've got a timeline with only the environment audio, but no voice.
Is there an automated way to replace the tracks? Edit done in cs6.
    Best regards, Norway.

I found the solution my self.
Mark all the clips with wrong audio channels. Hit "Clip" on the upper menu bar, Modify>Audio Channels and do the replacement in the dialog that pops up.

  • Dragging multiple media clips into vertically stacked tracks in the timeline? Is it possible?

Hoping that some Adobe Premiere Guru might be able to lend some insight into what seemingly should be a fairly simple thing to accomplish... but despite scouring the web, I can't seem to find a peep of a solution for it.
My neighbor (whom, incidentally, I convinced to go with Premiere CS5.5 as his NLE of choice in the wake of the FCPX uncertainty) is working on a "reality-style" project where they have a massive amount of cameras running simultaniouisly for hour upon hours on end. Think Big Brother House style.
Essentially for each hour of the footage, he is creating a project in which all the multiple camera footage (MOV) from that hour is listed/linked over in the project panel. For example, for HOUR ONE he has the footage from all 20 cameras (or whatever) for hour one listed there.
BASICALLY what he wants to be able to do is grab ALL the footage from those various cameras AT ONCE, DRAG them over to the timeline and when he drops them there, the video (and, inversely, the audio) clips STACK vertically, one on top of the other, each one taking its own track in the timeline.
Currently, of course, when he does this the footage arranges itself in the timeline end to end. In the case of my HOUR ONE, 20 CAMERA example, this basically creates a 20 hour long clip, as oppossed to a one hour clip with 20 tracks, stacked one on top of the other.
As near as we can tell, there's no keyboard shortcut to make this happen. I VAGUELY recall being able to do this in FCP (maybe?) so I'll be stunned and more than just a little bit disappointed to if there isn't SOME way to pull this off in Premeire.
Does anybody have any idea if this mode of automatically dropping clips into the timeline as stacked tracks is possible? It will, quite literally, save him hours and hours of work if he can figure out the secret. And I won't feel quite so guilty for having turned him onto Premiere for this specific project!
And if anyone knows for a fact this is NOT possible, that would be great to know as well. At least we can put the notion to bed one way or another.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards, Michael

You can do this with the make multi-camera source sequence command in Premiere Pro CS6 (note that this was posted before CS6 was launched):
    Mark the clips
    Select the clips
Choose Clip > Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence
Choose the style of synchronization and click OK
Right click on Multi-Camera source sequence and choose > Open in Timeline.
Clips are now stacked up inside of a sequence

  • When clicking an audio clip on the timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014, it duplicates it on a different track and makes it impossible to work.

I'm experiencing a disturbing issue as it actually prevents me to do the work in Premiere. I will put as much info as possible:
    1) Project started on a different computer (the editor), PC with Premiere Pro CC,
    2) Now opened on my Imac with Premiere Pro CC 2014,
    3) I am not editing, simply trying to move audio clips on different tracks to export audio tracks only,
    THE ISSUE:
    1) Here is my timeline:
    2) When I select an audio clip to highlight it, Premiere creates a duplicate on a different track:
Note that the clip highlighted in the previous screen cap is the duplicate and I didn't click it, Premiere highlights it as soon as it is duplicated.
    3) When I click out of the timeline or scroll up or down on the timeline, the duplicates disappear. However, when I try to move the original clips, it doesn't do anything, they are stuck in place.
    ANTICIPATED ANSWERS:
    1) You work on 2 different computers with 2 different versions of Premiere Pro CC, what do you expect? --> The amazing thing about Adobe CC is that it shouldn't be an issue and now I have to deal with it in this way,
    2) Try and save an updated version of your project from your computer. --> Already done that.
Thank you for your help. I usually use the customer support chat but I am on the other side of the globe and it is now closed. This issue prevents me to work so I need to solve it quickly.
    Kind regards,
    Aurelien

This sounds to me like it could be a graphics related problem are you on the latest driver. Something else you could try, start a new project and import the one from the PC into that rather than directly opening it in the MAC

  • HOW YOU GET IMOVIE TO SELECT/TRIM ALL THE TRACKS IN THE TIMELINE?

trying to burn dvd of my vacation and imported the clips from the camera into imovie. worked great. i imported my audio into garageband to add some filters, compression and eq, and imported it back into imovie as a separate track. then, i muted the origional audio track from the camera. still great. now, i need to trim some clips because idvd says my movie too long to burn on a single-layer disc. not great, *****! so, then i went back to imovie and trimmed a clip and now the audio that is after the trimmed track is totally out of sync. really really *****!!!! it turns out that imovie only trimmed the video and left my second audio track alone. WHY??? ***!!! does anyone know how to trim clips so that imovie trims all the tracks? do you hold down 'shift' or 'option' or something??? there must be a way to do it. HELP!!! god, i hope i can burn this disc sometime in 2007.

yea, thanks matt but i thought of that. if i do that i have to do my whole idvd project over again. i dont think i have enuff sanity left for that. i have a really complicated idvd project thats totally done. i think im just gonna burn it to a DLdisc instead.
but hey, maybe you can help me with this question:
i made a disk image of my vacation in maui, which is 1 hour 43 mins & chose the 'best quality' option. it has lots of violent ocean footage w/lots of motion, crazy colors, rainbows etc. its taken from a canon alura dv cam & looked awesome in imovie. my imovie project is roughly 23gb. when i watched the 4gb disk image that idvd created in DVD Player, it looked really blocky especially in the water/ocean scenes. like a bad divx rip from 1997, haha. im not happy with it at all. i kinda thought about how idvd would get 23gb compressed down to 4gb and worried about how it would look. well, my worring paid off cause it looks like crap.
then, i looked at the project info window in idvd. if i select 'best performance' the capacity changed from 3.6gb to 6gb, whoa??? uh, that doesnt make sense. \ im gonna try to encode it using this 'best performance' that they speak of, and see if it helps. i just want my movie to look good and ill do anything, ill use a dvdisc if i have to! why spend hours making a perfect imovie/garageband/idvd project if your source footage looks like dog poop in the final stage. im assuming it will look better when i select this 'best performance' thingie because common sense and logic tell me 6gb is bigger than 3.6.
then i got really CRAZZIIEE and looked at the 4gb idvd image next to 1 of my source .dv files in vlc player. vlc player says my disk image is getting about 4-6,000kb/s fluctuating, BUT my .dv file is 30,000kb/s sustained!!! how do i get 30,000kb/s sustained on my dvd??? wow, that would be great!!! prob not possible with my luck? my dvd player will explode into flames when i try to play it, right? also, how can i get the quailty higher? idvd is only going to use 6gb of a dual-layer disc, why if it has the capacity to hold 9gb? any help would be greatly appreciated!!! i thought about dvd studio pro but i would only try that if it will import my idvd theme perfectly, cause im not doing all that crap again. if im stuck with a 9gb dldisc that only used 6 gb, at least thats better than 3.6gb. ill settle for that if i have to.

  • How can I change the gain on one audio track in the selection?

How can I change the gain on one audio track in the selection? Is there a way to adjust the gain as it is implemented for example in cubase - pull waveform up and gain varies?

I'm not sure what you mean by "in the selection", or, more honest: I don't understand that at all.
So, instead I'm going to tell you that you can indeed adjust the Gain of one or more selected region(s) in the Region inspector on the left hand side.

  • Can you 'zoom' the audio waveform in the timeline?

Unable to find a solution in the help or the FAQ, so I'll post my first question here :-)
I would like to vertically zoom into the audio waveform in the timeline. My situation is that I have a 24-bit audio mix of a classical concert with a fairly large dynamic range, i.e. very loud bits and very quiet bits in one single audio file. I don't see enough waveform detail in the quiet parts, even when I enlarge the track vertically. I haven't found an official way of zooming in, at least in the timeline. The audio-waveform-only display in the source monitor does offer a vertical zoom.
The official help only offers this:
"To see more volume detail when viewing an audio waveform in a Timeline panel, increase the track height."
Which seems to imply that 'zooming' in further to bring out the really quiet parts is not a feature.
I found a bit of a workaround, which is to adjust the clip gain -- the audio waveform changes accordingly. However I'd prefer not to be changing the audio volume every time I need a different vertical zoom on the waveform.
    Thanks,
    3p

While you can't zoom and the vertical adjustment is limited (which sucks because you can zoom in Audition)` there are still a few more options that might help increase the vertical size of the tracks window.
First, to adjust the vertical space of each track in the timeline place your selection tool over the line between the tracks over on the left side of the track where audio controls are and drag the track bottom up or down. You can also increase the workspace of the timeline by dragging it up using the same technique, or if you have another monitor put the timeline over there and make it much bigger.
Second, use the tilde key to expand the entire timeline window. It's the key to the left of #1 key at the top left. Hit it again to return. It will expand any window that is selected. I use this one to get a better look at the waveform. You can also drag the tracks to make them larger.
    good luck!

  • How do I seperate the audio track from the video and save it to a CD in Premiere Elements 13?

How do I seperate the audio track from the video and save it to a CD in Premiere Elements 13?

    Binbashi
You can separate the audio track from video and save it to a DVD disc within Premiere Elements but not a CD disc.
To do save to the audio to DVD disc, you do not have to separate linked audio video, just use the export Publish+Share/Computer/Audio and set Presets to the wanted format (AAC, AIFF, MP3, or Windows Waveform (WAV).
You will not see Audio in the choices since it is at the bottom of the list of choices under Publish+Share/Computer/. You will need to use the thin scroll bar to the right of the choices to scroll to it.
If you need information on selective export of Timeline content when dealing with more than just this one file on the Timeline, please let us know. If you are trying to produce a CD for listening in car or CD player elsewhere, please let us know.
Looking forward to learning of your results.
    Thank you.

  • How to make audio track respond to timeline

I'm starting a project and need the ability to control the speed of an audio file playback using the timeline.
There are specific events that happen at certain times in the song, and i need the ability to scrub forward and backward on the timeline, including the audio. is this possible?
I have a mechanism to scrub through the timeline of a symbol, but i can't get it to recognize the audio track.
I use this code on the stage in a "composition ready"
var symDur = sym.getSymbol("timelinePlay").getDuration(); // Get the timeline length of timelinePlay. We'll reference this later in the code. var mySymbol = sym.getSymbol("timelinePlay"); // Get the symbol timelinePlay. We'll reference this later in the code. var scrubber = sym.$("scrubber"); // Touch this to scrub the timeline of timelinePlay var bar = sym.$("bar"); // Bar the scrubber follows sym.$("mobileHit").hide(); // Added an extra invisible div to increase the hit region for mobile (hard to grab otherwise) var dragme = false; // Set the initial dragme function to false // Detect if mobile device, and if so swap out mouse events for touch events. This is pretty much duplicated code with touch events swapped. if (/Android|webOS|iPhone|iPad|iPod|BlackBerry/i.test(navigator.userAgent)) {     sym.$("mobileHit").show(); // Show the extra invisible div to increase the hit region for mobile (hard to grab otherwise)     $(function () {         scrubber.bind("touchstart", function (e) { // Enable the scrubber on touchstart             e.preventDefault(); // Cancels the default action of the mobile device - used to ensure our touch events are fired             dragme = true;         });         scrubber.bind("touchend", function () { // Disable the scrubber on touchend             e.preventDefault();             dragme = false;         });         scrubber.bind("touchmove", function (e) { // Make the magic happen on touchmove             if (dragme) {                 var touch = e.originalEvent.touches[0];                 var possibleX = touch.pageX;                 var leftX = bar.offset().left;                 var rightX = (leftX + bar.width()) - scrubber.width();                 var scrubWidth = rightX - leftX;   // Confine the scrubber to the width of the bar                 if (possibleX < leftX) {                     possibleX = leftX;                 }                 if (possibleX > rightX) {                     possibleX = rightX;                 }                 scrubber.offset({                     left: possibleX                 });                 var relativeX = possibleX - leftX;                 var stopTimeline = Math.ceil((relativeX / scrubWidth) * symDur); // Make the scrubber scrub the timeline length of timelinePlay                 mySymbol.stop(stopTimeline); // Stop the timeline of timelinePlay when the scrubber is released             }         });     }) } else $(function () {     scrubber.mousedown(function () { // Enable the scrubber on mousedown         dragme = true     })     $(document).mouseup(function () { // Disable the scrubber on mouseup         dragme = false     })     $(document).mousemove(function (e) { // Make the magic happen on mousemove         if (dragme) {             var possibleX = e.pageX;             var leftX = bar.offset().left;             var rightX = (leftX + bar.width()) - scrubber.width();             var scrubWidth = rightX - leftX;             // Confine the scrubber to the width of the bar             if (possibleX < leftX) {                 possibleX = leftX;             }             if (possibleX > rightX) {                 possibleX = rightX;             }             scrubber.offset({                 left: possibleX             });             var relativeX = possibleX - leftX;             var stopTimeline = Math.ceil((relativeX / scrubWidth) * symDur); // Make the scrubber scrub the timeline length of timelinePlay             mySymbol.stop(stopTimeline); // Stop the timeline of timelinePlay when the scrubber is released         }     }) })
and have an group called 'scrubber' that contains a div called 'dot' and a box called 'mobileHit.' There's a horizontal bar that's not included in the 'scrubber' div (representation of a timeline) called 'bar' on top of which the 'scrubber' sits.
the whole contraption controls a symbol called "timelinePlay"
If there's any way to get the audio included in the timeline and give me the ability to scrub through the timeline /and/ audio, (imagine manually fast forwarding and rewinding a VHS tape) that would be wonderful!!!

  • NanoFlash audio files on the timeline

    Hello,
I am new to the MXF format and have been working mainly with HDV and AVCHD files.
I am interested in buying a Nanoflash and have downloaded the sample file from the CD website.
    I have the 1080i60 files.
I have the current version of CS5, and when I inport these clips using the correct XDCAM settings, a place them on the timeline,
the audio portion goes down to the Audio Track number 9.  I am use to the audio track being right next to the video track or in the Audio 1 track.
Question:  Am I doing something wrong or is this normal for MXF files?
The clip plays fine, but having the audio down on Track 9 is wierd for me.
Any advice or help is appreciated.
    ~ Rookie

Thanks Harm for the reply but this isn't the case, at least I don't
think it is. The audio track from CD is stereo, it shows a left and right.
I cannot move that audio track either, it's stuck on track nine.  When I try to move it the video portion moves with it.
That is probably a seperate issue...I'm not real skilled with CS5 yet.
I thought I read in another post too where the audio from the NanaFlash was showing up on 9.
I find this a bit strange having 8 empty audio tracks between the Video and audio.
Weird.  Is anyboby else experiencing this with the Nanoflash sample files?

  • Toggling between video clips (not audio clips) in the timeline

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a solution to this small inconvenience I am experiencing in FCP 5. When I have snapping enabled, and press the down arrow key, the playhead jumps to the next audio or video clip in the timeline. I am trying to find out if there is a way to jump between video clips only.
    Thank you

    Thanks,
Do you know if there is a way to make the up/down arrows snap to only the video cuts on the video clips in the highest video tracks in the timeline? Thanks.

  • Adjusting Audio Pan in the Timeline

In the FCE 3.0 help pdf. manual there is a heading for a section: "Adjusting Volume Levels and Pan in the Timeline," but I can't find anywhere that it says anything about adjusting the pan in the timeline, just the levels.
I know how to adjust pan in the viewer, but is there actually a way to do it in the timeline also?

Martin, Thanks, but actually the sound mix on my project is presently quite complex as a clip by clip change in balance from left to right (depending on whether dialogue, sound effects, music, etc.) and I plan on adjusting the pan on each clip individually to especially retain the stereo effect of the music. I just thought it was sort of confusing that the help manual has a section heading on how to adjust pan in the timeline but then doesn't address the issue.
Thanks again, I may end up taking your advice.
    Hi Fran,
The only way I know of doing it to all of your
clips in the timeline at once would be to select one
audio clip, and adjust the pan to center (which is
what I believe you want to do, based on your earlier
post). Then select all other audio clips in
the timeline and do Paste Attributes (of course,
having selected just the Pan attribute before
clicking OK in the Paste Attributes window.
For more info, look under "Copying, Pasting &
Removing Clip Attributes" in your FCE manual. In the
FCEHD manual it's in Ch. 16 "Editing in the
    Timeline"

How can I stretch audio & video tracks on the timeline without scrolling at the scrollbars?
With other words is there a shortcut on the keyboard?
    Thanks,

    Hi Tim,
If you mean, stretch or squeeze the timeline, then Stretch is APPLE , and Squeeze is APPLE . It stretches or squeezes the timeline around the position line. much easier for me.
    hope that helps,

  • Switching on a some track in the timeline

    Hi, all.
Does somebody know how to activate specific track in the timeline (for editing etc), that playhedad didn't have changes on that timeline.
normally, that would enable a track, you must necessary click it with mouse on it but as you do it, playhead position was changed to position where you press mouse button.
    how to overcome that moment.
    Can't find it in help.
    Thanks.

Rightly I should have selected the option in the original post 'I have this question too'. But, I did not do it because I did not understand the question in the first place. After reading your reply and the glee with which it was acknowledged, I realized that I too had this 'problem'.
    Thanks Tom.
