Dragged my Macintosh HD Icon and now I cannot find it...

I have searched everywhere for the Macintosh HD Icon but nothing is coming up. I dragged it from the finder onto the desktop accidentally and then I could not find it. Please help me out!
Thanks

sgg88,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
So you want to have it back in your Finder, is that correct?
If so then go to the Finder's Preferences and click General Tab. Next select the first box, Hard Disks. Then go to your desktop and drag the drive back onto your Finder side bar.

Roger

Mmmm, try checking for available downloads from the store menu, if that doesn't help, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

• I have just upgraded to Maverick and now I cannot find certain files. These JPG's are there on my hard drives however . I rely heavily on the search facility and this is slowing me down.

I have just upgraded to Maverick and now I cannot find certain JPG 's . These files do exist however I can find them manually . I rely on the search facility and this is slowing me down, I am having to trawl through stuff to find the file I want , before I would put in part of the title and the machine would find it.

• You badgered me into installing the latest Itunes and now I cannot find my music nor my podcasts. Where the **** are they?

I was badgered into installing the latest Itunes and now I cannot find my music nor my podcasts. Where the **** did they go and how can I get them back? You folks at Apple sure make it hard to like you or want to use your products.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't normally lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the main iTunes library folder (and subfolders if possible) from any real-time scanning process.

How to report an issue with Your iTunes Store purchase

• HT203167 i boughgt lion and now i cannot find it

upgrading recently to Lion, purchased from itunes, being told by apple support that i could use it in other devices, but i cannot find it now in my purchased itunes account. how is this possible?

being told by apple support that i could use it in other devices
No idea who gave you that information but it's wrong.
Two different operating systems.
Lion is only available from the Mac App Store, not the iTunes storea and it can be confusing.
Click your Apple menu icon top left corner of your screen. From the drop down menu click App Store.
That's where you downloaded Lion from.
You can also access the App Store from your Dock or your Applications folder.
You can see which Mac OS X you have installed by clicking the Apple menu icon again. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
If you see: Version 10.7.x ... that's Lion.
I think what support was trying to tell you is that you can re download apps from the Mac App Store that were purchased from there. Apps that run your Mac are for the Mac OS X. Apps that run on and iPod touch, iPad, or iPod run on the iOS.
To see your Purchase History, launch iTunes. Select iTunes Store in the source list on the left then click Sign In > View My Account then See All to the right of Purchase History. That will show all of your purchases both both the iTunes and Mac App Stores.

• On my 1st visit to a certain website, Firefox _very briefly_ asked whether to remember my username and password. I was too slow: the dialog bar disappeared and now, I cannot find where to enter that logon info for my daily returns to that site.

On only the very first visit to a website, Firefox _very briefly_ shows a "Do you want Firefox to remember this password?" dialog bar at top right of screen.
The first time that I used Firefox to access this particular, and very often visited site, I missed that dialog bar. It disappeared before I had a chance to mark any one of the three boxes and now, I must enter my log-in information anew at every log-on to that site.
There _must_ be a way to get Firefox to give me a second chance for entering this info, but I cannot find how.
Can someone please help?

After first closing the site's browser window, I cleared the cookies with no problem.
Next, I opened up the page that is causing my problem. The Microsoft Security window opened up as it should and it was blank.
The option of whether I was using a public or a private
computer was blinking on 'public' as it should and I changed that to 'private'.
The lines for 'Domain/Username' and 'Password" were blank, as they should be at this time.
I entered whatever I had to on these two lines, then clicked on "log In". At no time, however, did the Firefox toolbar at top of screen (picture file attached) appear and ask whether to remember that password. Yes, the page now opened - and we are back to Square One.
I am aware that when entering the URL in the address box, a dropdown box opens and contains quite a few URLs identical to the one I am entering just now, or at least connected to pages of the same site.
I am wondering whether that is what's messing me up? But how can I clear these entries of "websites visited in the past from Firefox's memory?
In case you would want to see exactly what it is I am talking about, you might go to https://support.ataretail.com

• My iPod Nano 6th generation iLive speaker system quit on me and now I cannot find a compatible speaker system. I don't want tiny personal speakers, I use this for music in the family room.

I have 2 iPod Nano 6th generation. I had them setup with different music from iTunes and I had an iLive Bluetooth docking and speaker system that charged and played them with speakers spaced in the family room. Not a little personal setup but for reasonably loud music for the whole room. My iLive system died on me. It had the 20 pin place to plug in the iPod nano and a clock and the two speakers that were bluetooth. It was the perfect setup for me. Now that model has been discontinued and I cannot find anything like it. Does anyone know what a good option is? These iPods are only a couple of years old and now obsolete because they don't make anything to play them on. I don't use earbuds, it's not what I bought them for. One has our jazz music collection, the other has Christmas music. I want to hear it throughout the house.

Sorry typo it had a 30 pin place to plug in the iPod Nano

• Updated to ios8 and now I cannot find my purchased ringtones.

I just recently updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8 and now my ringtones that I have purchased are gone.

Ringtones are not part of iCloud. You only get one download of ringtones.
Not sure if the purchase ringtones are included in the iCloud backup. Did you restore form backup?

• Downloaded pictures and now Aperture cannot find master

I downloaded my pictures from my camera and half of them came over just fine into Aperture, and the other half have a yellow triangle icon in the bottom and it says cannot locate the master. How can I fix this? Help! I am freaking out here!
Anita

Hi Anita
You have to tell Aperture where your master files are stored on your hard drive. To do this, you can select in the menu 'File', then 'Locate Referenced Files...' and reconnect the missing masters.

• I was told by the Apple store to create multiple user ids to control the content on my iphone. I did that and now I cannot find my original library with all of my playlists

I was told by the Apple store to create separate user ids on my windows computer to create a new library to control the content on my iphone. I held down shift and clicked i tunes and created the library. I was told you can switch back and forth. I cannot find the old library and all of my playlists. Apple really needs a better way for families to manage their libraries and devices. This is such a pain in the butt!

No, as I stated in the post this is the first issue we've had with the phone. No, this was not a replacement phone, this is the same phone I bought from the apple store in December and had not been serviced by anyone, it did not have any issues until last week.

• HT5479 My brand new ipod nano is no longer connedting to my brand new jbl wireless speaker. It worked fine the first day and now either cannot find the apeaker or the connection "fails." Any advice?

I bought my dad a new ipod nano and a jbl wireless speaker from the same apple store. Everything worked perfectly with the bluetooth connectivity the first day. Then my dad accidentally hit the "forget this device" button when he was trying to turn the bluetooth off. Now the nano either does not recognize the device or it will recognize the device but not connect. I would appreciate any advice.

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
If so:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

• I had to delete the entry when I changed the password, and now I cannot find a way to save it. there are two entries affiliated with the website

The user name and password in question is for the website www,webkinz.com. One day there was a problem logging in so support changed my password. The problem occurs at webkinznewz where there is a frequent transfer of money and prizes from games to the main account. The newspaper has a differnt user name and password. Now when I try to transfer anything my newz name and password show up. Even when I change it manually it does not offer to save it

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode.
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
