Dragging and Dropping within iMovie '08

I am new to iMovie '08. When I first started my project I was able to select a clip and drag directly from the events to the project library. However, now, when I try to drag, I just move the selection to another part of the event. I cannot drag and drop within the project either. Using Macbook trackpad to attempt drag and drop. Any help is appreciated.

I can do this, but dragging and dropping like described in the manual would be a lot easier.
Both methods work equally well for me. The usual problem with "Dragging and Dropping" is that the user is too impatient to wait for the segment clip index to be built before attempting to "drag" the segment to the Project window. By the time the segment is "built," the user has already released the "bundle" and it is too late for the application to detect the "active" drop area. You may notice that there is a slight delay between your segment selection/pressing the add button and the actual insertion of your clip segment. The delay is the same in both approaches, however, pressing the add button tells iMovie '08 where the segment is to be moved without the application having to detect an "active" area which may no longer be "active."

Can't Drag and Drop in iMovie '11

I just started using this software, and for some reason it won't let me drag and drop video files to my project. I started with flv, then mov, and even mp4. None of them would work. I could import mp4 the long way by going through the menus, but I would much rather drag and drop. has anyone else had this issue?

Hey ya'll I just figured this out! I had scanned a bunch of photos for a wedding video. I then cropped them and changed the resolution in Photoshop and saved them all. When I went to save them, there was a box checked in Photoshop that said something like "Make photo available in Photoshop Organizer" For some reason when that box is checked, the file DOES NOT save with a .JPEG extension. So when I was naming a file "57" and choosing the "save as JPEG" option, it was saving as a JPEG but wasn't CALLED "57.jpeg" That's why I couldn't drop and drag them.
I found out by opening the properties boxes of a photo I could drag and a photo I couldn't drag and going through all the details. SO FRUSTRATING but I hope this helps someone else!!! Good Luck!!!

It seems like this ought to be fairly straight forward. This
code is taken from the Flex 2 Component Explorer and I've just
added a few Drag and Drop parameters to the list. It doesn't quite
work. The items are duplicated, not selected, selectable. The
behavior is a bit erratic.
It seems very natural to want to be able to re-order a list
using drag and drop so it seems like it should be easy. Obviously,
I could create a second, empty list--but that would take up
valuable screen real estate. I've seen a few posts about this and
none of them were answered so either the solution is obvious
(please share) or it's impossible (please share).

The answer is, yes you can. However, I'm not sure why this
makes a difference.
I added creationComplete="init();" to the application tag.

PSE 12 Drag and Drop within open documents

PSE 12 running on an Asus tablet with Windows 8.
Owned PSE12 since December of 2013. Finally entered in the serial number on Monday to get the startup pop-up message to go away.
Now I cannot drag a layer from one open document to another. This has worked flawlessly since I purchased the software.
I select either the layer directly or from the side bar and move the mouse to hover over the tab of the document I wish to copy the layer into. Nothing.
Anyone else having this issue?

The Arrange menu i was referring to is at the bottom of the pse 12 window.

After installing iTunes 10.5.1, I can no longer drag and drop files into iTunes. Any suggestions?

Basically when I try to drag files from a folder into iTunes, (drag and drop within iTunes is fine) the little picture of the circle with a slash through it shows up and wont allow me to drop it into iTunes. just want to add my annoyance to the pile here. I can't see any logic behind removing the drag and drop function, especially when adding a new folder is now a multi-step process that is far from obvious. to start a new playlist with local folder content you now need to:enter settingsclick into advanced settings (basically all settings now seem to be "advanced"?)manually find and add the foldergo through the adventure of finding the files in your library.

Drag and drop in Page Builder

Is there any way to enable drag & drop between ContentItem components in the Page Builder interface without having to do custom Flex programming? We would like to allow the user to switch a cartridge position in a page template without having to re-select the cartridge and enter content in again.

Do you mean that you want to be able to drag and drop between sections within the page, drag and drop within the same section, or drag and drop across to a different page?

Can you Cancel "acceptDragDrop()" using Manual Drag-and-Drop?

I have an AdvancedDataGrid (ADG) with manually drag-and-drop
functionality built in. The user can only drag-and-drop within the
one ADG. I do this in order to validate which items can be dragged,
and where they can be dropped. I have run into one problem,
however. In my override of dragEnterHandler(), I call
DragManaged.acceptDragDrop() if the user drags an item over a valid
item. However, if they don't drop the item there, and continue to
drag the item around the ADG, and roll over an item that is not
valid, there's no way to cancel the drop.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Drag and Drop as an Assessment in Captivate 7

Hello-
I am having an extreme amount of difficulty when it comes to using this function in Captivate 7. The following is a list of questions that I cannot seem to find the answer to anywhere online.
After assigning the answers (as in which box gets dragged to the other), I saw that even though I have 5 separate boxes and therefore 5 separate answers, the quiz results only count this entire drag and drop as one answer. How do I set it so that each drag and drop within the slide is an individual point to add up to a total of 5 points?
I am very confused as to how to set up the failure box-I only want it to show up when people go back to review their quiz. I also have this problem with all other quizzes, as well as the "review area" box.
If someone, or multiple people, could please answer these, and not just link to another page with the answers, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

To drag and drop within the target listbox you'll have to add a Drag Starting? event for the target listbox and register that drag data with a different adn unique Drag Data Name, then in the Drag Enter? event check for that data name as well before accepting the event, and then in the Drop? event for the target listbox handle the new data name as well. You can use the Point to Row Column invoke method to determine which row, column, or cell is being manipulated. I've created a VERY crude example of this, but you'll have to get more creative with how you handle the moving of rows, columns, etc. for the target listbox, but I think it gives the general idea. Hope this helps!

Cannot drag-and-drop songs and playlists

I just got a new 2nd Gen Nano on Saturday. iTunes 7.0.1.8 updated the Nano to software 1.0.2. It will sync songs and playlists when connected to the computer. However, if I want to manually add songs/playlists, it won't let me. I cannot drag and drop from my library to my iPod. Also, all the songs are greyed out on my iPod list and it will not let me drag and drop within my iPod. They only way it will let me update songs and playlists is with the automatic option.
What is going on?

The songs are "greyed out" because you have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is also why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable, then you need to change to manually managing your songs.

Cannot load ipage drag and drop site builder page

The only thing that loads is the header. ipage help thought it was a problem with adobe flash player. Plugins manager indicated I had Shockwave player, no Adobe Flash listed. Tried downloading Adobe Flash, appeared to download and install, but did not show up in plug in manager, even after rebooting. Uninstalled Shockwave, rebooted and downloaded Adobe Flash. Shockwave player showed up again in plug in manager, not Adobe Flash. Not sure if they are now one and the same. Checked permissions for the page and allowed everything, still no help. Tried clearing the cache and cookies, no change. The page is fully functional in Explorer. Could use some help, please. Running version 9.01. Thanks

Still no drag and drop between tabbed documents

Working with multiple documents opened at the same time is my everyday workflow and I'm sure I am not alone.
When Adobe introduced tabbed view it was finally a solution to messy multiple opened documents but they omited the biggest advantage in this workflow which is drag and drop of object from one to doc to the other.
In order to do so you have to go to Arrange button (CS5) or Window>Arrange (CS6) and choose to tile or float all documents. That is stupid and inefficient.
What we need is to grab a layer and drag it onto a another doc tab and Photoshop should switch to that tab immediately. You can drag and drop between separate Illustrator and PS files but you can't drag and drop within PS which doesn't make any sense.
Copy and paste is just as not as quick solution as drag and drop.
And while you at it why not make empty space after tabs double clickable to get open document window, kind of like when you have no file opened you can double click the gray area.

I keep tagging my agreement to this everytime I see it requested - from multiple users, including myself.
Dragging from the layers panel seems a much more logical method to me. What's really frustrating was that we had this in CS4, and it was removed in CS5 and is still absent in CS6.

Drag And Drop Element Of Array Of Clusters

I have a project that includes an array of "tests", each of which is a cluster containing an array of "part numbers", a regular expression matching string and an array of "test tasks" (each of which, is in turn, a cluster of elements).
That is:

I'd like to be able to drag and drop to re-order the task array within an individual test. (It's a nice-to-have rather than an urgent request - more for my own learning than anything). For now, I've implemented "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons.
The examples are fine for a single cluster that includes an array, or for an array of objects. As soon as we have an array of clusters, it's hard to access the individual elements within a specific cluster.
Has anybody successfully implemented drag and drop within such a setup?

This is definitely doable, and you can even use the standard start drag and drop methods/events, the tricky part is determining the array elements that are being selected on mouse up/mouse down and handling the swap manually. Luckily, there are a couple decent examples of how to do this out there already, I'd suggest you take a look at this one:

That should give you the selected array indices, and then all you have to do is switch the elements around around in the drop event. I've attached a very basic demonstrative example that uses that code I just linked (you'll need to download that as well) and the events mentioned to swap two array elements. The attached code is just thrown together, you'll want to design something more robust and scalable for any sort of real use.

Can't drag and drop iMovie files into iDVD project

I created a bunch of iMovie projects, went through the share/media browser process. They show up as icons in iDVD but when I try to drag and drop them, I don't get the green plus sign and they don't drop. I've tried both widescreen and standard settings, in both iMovie and iDVD, matching them up - still won't drop.

What's the path to the file? Is it on an external drive? A network drive? A mapped drive? Can you try copying the file to your desktop and dragging it from there?
It's on an external e-sata drive. No problem accessing the file from within Premiere. Just can't drop it into Encoder. Doesn't work if I drag to desktop and try from there either.
Are you dragging it in from Windows Explorer? If not, then what app are you dragging from?

Have you tried importing via File > Add Source...? [Double-clicking a blank spot in the Queue gets you to the same Open dialog.]
Yep, tried that. No luck. Double clicking and adding didn't work either.
Definitely only seems to be QT files. Have tried H264 files from 7D camera and ProRes files. No luck. Files that are MP4 work fine.
