Dragging from iPhoto makes the screen go all weird

Since I updated to Lion, there's a problem I have when using iPhoto in which when dragging from iPhoto onto the desktop (or anywhere else outside of iPhoto) the portions of the screen outside of iPhoto go all jittery, and are filled with random jumbled up, noisy images (which aren't always the same.) Someoe else told me that they have the same problem, I'm just wondering, how can i fix it.

The screen dims shortly before auto-lock (sleep mode) engages. To change the interval:
Settings > General > Auto-Lock > select the interval you want
Remember, the longer the delay to dim the screen, the shorter the battery life.

You are prevented from Airplay mirroring certain things like DVD content as the material is usually protected so you get a checkerboard type display. I think there is a theoretical risk that the Airplay stream could be intercepted and the protected video copied, albeitin lower quality.
Apple may be being cautious or are required to do so with the DVD player app by movie studios/licensing authorities. It makes no sense to the average consumer who is just trying to send their purchased DVD to the TV via the computer and AppleTV.
Playback in something like VLC should work - not tried it myself but others have commented it doesn't have the restriction.

I have to stop and cancel the pop-up each time which is time consuming. How do I get this to stop? It's driving me crazy. (And yes I am a member of Facebook.)

With iPhoto open, from the menu bar click iPhoto / Preferences then select the Accounts tab.
If you see Facebook on the left select that then click - (minus)
Quit then relaunch iPhoto. See if that makes a difference.

Dragging photos from iPhoto to the Desktop

Hi Folks, can anyone help?
When I drag photos from iPhoto to the desktop, a plus sign appears on the dragged image and a copy is created on the desktop. That's fine and that's how it should work.
I have 1 roll (out of some 300) with some 200 photos where this does not work. Currently, I am not in a position to move a copy from that roll in iPhoto to the desktop.
Any idea where the issue is?

Are you getting an error message that says something to the effect that one of the files are busy? If so this is usually due to the original files sharing the same file title in the Finder. An easy way to get around this is to use the export feature of iPhoto and choose "use album name" It is something like this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/6.0/en/hlp215.html Try exporting them to a folder that you create on your desktop. If you use the export feature iPhoto can rename the files so they don't share the same title.

When using crop tool the screen goes all black

When I select the crop tool and drag it across the photo to select crop area, the screen goes all black so that I cannot see the area selected or modify its size.
All the boxes (size and resolution) of the tool are clear.
Can somebody help me?
I did try resetting all tools but didn't change anything, I restarted the program, I restarted the computer and is still happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The advice that seems to work most often with this kind of failure is to update your video drivers from the web site of the maker of your video card.

if you choose to do this, drag your songs over there, THEN erase them from your itunes library, becasue itunes wont be able to find the songs. After that, you can do
file > add folder to library > my documents/my music/itunes/itunes music, and it will automatically upload all those songs back onto your library

Make the screen follow character

Hello i am making a platform game using actionscript 3.0. My character can move, fire bullets and jump around on the platforms, but how do i make the screen follow the character? I've tried using a v-cam but it does not work properly with the shooting. How do i make the screen follow my character?

You need a gameframework to do this for you, if a virtual cam doesN´t do what you expect, and you are unable to fix this issue.
You could theoretically put all your background assets in one big movieClip and move it around in relation to your Player (if the player "moves" ten pixel to the right, the background instead moves ten pixels to the left etc.)
but if you need any kind of hit detection between pixels that are on your background (likle enemies) and your player, converting all your points from localToGlobal and vice versa, will get you into trouble.

Here is what I want to do. I have a script that find/replace in all my document. It runs for half an hour, line by line. But InDesign stays on the same page all this time, so I can't see where it is, what it changes LIVE. I want to know if there is a trick that will make the screen follow the selected text that need to be change, so I can see it.

Hi Olivier!
Calling the "select()" method might result in what you want.
The following selects a text frame in my test document, and it also shows the page that the object is on, if another page is in view:
app.activeDocument.pageItems.itemByID(207050).select()
(Of course "207050" is a valid id for one of the objects in my open document)
So if you have a result of "found objects", you could possibly juist call the ".select()" method for each object that you would like to set focus to.
Sometimes "Enable redraw" needs to be checked, from the popout menu of the script palette. I'm not sure that's the case here though.

Why you want to change the color management? Are not satisfied with the colors on your L300 screen? I have this notebook too and Im very satisfied with the color management. For me its all ok and I dont change anything on it.
Anyway, you can change the colors in graphics driver menu. On Intel cards for example:
Display properties > Settings > Advanced > Intel Graphics > Graphic Properties > Color Correction

This sequence will repeat seemingly forever unless I shut it down manually.
I upgraded to Yosemite from Mountain Lion a couple months ago, skipping Maverick completely, and I've done any associated updates that Apple told me about. I don't recall which version of Yosemite I have, but I'm sure it is the "latest and greatest".
I've tried re-starting in Safe Mode / Safe Boot and that does the same thing as described above except without the endless restarts. Instead of restarting at some point, SafeBoot proceeds to the white screen and then it hangs until I restart it manually. (I've waited as long os 20-30 minutes with no response).
When I tried the option-command-p-r key combo I never get any chimes or other noises besides the original 1 time boot sound that you would expect to get when starting up a macbook pro.
I was using the mac quite normally (meaning I was doing work I normally do on it and there was no indication of anything wrong) immediately prior to this happening.
The machine is BootCamp(ed) with Windows 8.1 which I use from a VMWare virtual machine instead of natively so that I can have both OSes running at the same time. I also think this is unrelated to my problem. I have been using this setup for more than 2 years.
My upgrade to Yosemite was uneventful and I thought it went well and was very smooth. I don't want to lead attention away from Yosemite, but at this point my problem does not seem related to the upgrade.

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
      left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
      the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
      the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
           because it is three times faster than wireless.

Boot from your installer disc. If the problem is still present, then take it in for service.

My Photoshop Elements moved my pix from iPhoto but the picture names have been lost???

I installed a copy of Photoshop Elements 12 yesterday. I had been using iPhoto and had literally hundreds of pictures, each with an aphpa-numeric names. I imported the photos from IPhoto into Elements 12, but there are no longer identifying names on any picture. Where are the names? There is a column of numeric file names in [Organizer] along the left sides - which mean nothing to me. I have tried every button I could find and searched the Photoshop Elements for Dummies for a possible solution. I asked two friends familiar with full blown Photoshop and they are perplexed. So am I. Has anybody any useful suggestions? Thank you

If you used the "from iPhoto" command, you made duplicates of your iphoto library photos. Just delete them and then decide how you want to proceed. "From iPhoto" is to be used if you decide you want to use the elements organizer exclusively and not iphoto anymore, but you don't have to do that. You can make a small test catalog with just some photos from iphoto, or you can set up PSE as your external editor from iphoto, or you can export photos from iphoto to the desktop, edit them in PSE and then reimport them back to iphoto as new images.

I have the iCloud backup screen up and it won't let me do anything. It's stuck and I can't shut the ipad down or use the screen at all.

The iCloud back up screen it on my ipad. It won't let me do anything, turn it down or use any of the screen. I have even tried to force shut it down but it won't let me use the screen at all. I plugged it into my main computer to do a backup and it's still stuck.

It's rude not to share your solution and then mark your answer as correct so that it may help others. So in case anybody else reads this ....
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
That will get you out of that backup screen. There is a reason that screens shows up. You haven't backed up your iPad! Make sure you backup regularly!
