Dragging + high-lighting issues

I posted this to the Tiger forum but so far, have had no replies so hope this is Ok to post a shortened version here:
I have problems dragging icons and folders, pulling down/up sliders in long windows and top menus (eg. keep the mouse held down to navigate across menus and the selections disappear within a few seconds, simply click and move the mouse and they stay etc ..), or high-lighting only required text is almost impossible because a single click on one word high-lights a whole paragraph or again, deselects. I've restarted using the instillation disc, run Disk Utility and chosen to repaired the hard drive.
1. There were invalid leaf record counts - 58 instead of 649
2. Volume bit map minor repairs made
3. Invalid volume free block counts - 6997411 instead of 6996956
4. Reserve fields in catalog record have incorrect data
and after the repair ..
1 HFS volume was repaired
and 1 volume was not repaired.
After this only repair I still have the same problem with dragging and minor mouse desktop commands (I've also cleaned the laser mouse which otherwise seems fine) but am left wondering about this unrepaired volume. What might it's damage be and is it related to the mouse problems. I have a pretty old version of Disk Warrior (3.0.1) but is there another Volume repair app to rectify this annoying occurance? The only thing I've updated recently is my RAM, from 1 to 3GB. Is this relevant?
A poster on another thread suggested resetting PRAM and I timed my restart to see if that or the battery was low: From chimes to full desktop took 2 1/2 minutes which seems a long time.
Any help is greatly received.

I had DW 3.0.1 on an original disk but looking through their site I realised this wouldn't boot nor repair the machine with 4.1.1 so it has a patch that you download to do just this, reboot and repair. Download the patch, enter your serial number for your disk and it blends them together and you burn a new CD which you can reboot from. I think the new version of DW is 4 so this free upgrade sees you through another step but this method does not work for Leopard.
I rebooted and went into graph, saw the nodes were all over the place and I optimized from there.
But what I think is the root of my problem was inserting Kingston RAM which for some reason my G5 doesn't like though they're the same spec as my previous.

High latency issue of an evening whilst gaming.

Hiya`s Peeps, Having recently switched to BT from Virgin (this being only my third day as a customer) as the VM service for gaming in my area (Sth Manchester) on thier 50mb package was simply not viable due to over utilisation issues, I now find myself experiencing high latency issues with my BT service.
All three evenings have been lost to me as my in game latency (World of Warcraft) has rose upto 3500ms with occasional disconnections.
Also strange was that was after the BB was first switched on I had a consistent in-game latency of 24ms home and 24ms world, this lasted around 8 hours until I experienced my first lag spike, I was disconnected and when I eventually was able to get back in game, some 20 minutes or so later, my home and world latency had changed to 42/45 (still playable ) but every 10 to 15 minutes the world latency would again rise to around 3k and above and I would again be disconnected from the server.
I do apologise for the lack of any technical detail within this post as I simply do not understand such and struggle terribly with it, I am very happy with both my speed and ping tests, both being excellent in comparison to that that I would see when using the VM service.
What I am after I guess is advice from the community on how to get the best from BT bb for playing my online game, this connection is only used for World of Warcraft and very light reading on the www, I do not have a phone connected to this line and use no wireless connections with it at all, this PC (hard wired) is the only contraption connected.

welcome to the forum
there is a 10 day training period after your connection is activated during which time you need to leave the router connected with no manual resets. The router may reset (often) during training but that is normal as the equipment in the exchnage tries to find the best stable connection for your line.
after the training period is complete and you have a stable connection then you can get the latency changed to 'fast' if yours latency is 'interleaved' changing to fast can make your line less stable than interleaved but it is the choice of gamers

It seems like the damage isn't too big and we should be able to fix it easily...
Simply reset your profile settings (delete and create new) by following the intructions in the [[Managing profiles|managing profiles]] support article and perhaps [[How to clear the cache|clear your cache]]. This should normally and hopefully set you up!

[SOLVED] Source Game Lighting Issue

When playing older source games such as Team Fortress 2 and HL2 I am able to see the glow of light fixtures through walls. I don't have this issue in newer source games like Left 4 Dead 2. I am using wine 1.3.2 and have all games running with directx 9. I tried using dx8 and I had the same lighting issue. I google'd around but couldn't find anything really relevant to my issue, I might have missed something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
edit: I have a gtx260 and I am using the latest nvidia drivers.

On modern GPUs Half-Life 2 should be able to run in all dx-levels (70, 80, 81, 90). However there are might be some visual problems on higher dx-levels.

And well..if nothing helps I would capture a small video showing the problem and report a bug to wine. Playing around with your vid drivers and wine in other versions might help.
That is the good and most basic thing people often seem to forget. Open Source devs are often very open to bugs you report and their projects can only get better if people report bugs.

I can get Selected text when right click.
But, I have to get high lighted text without Right click.
How can I do this?

Error in validation an input field in a table ui and high lighting the cell

Hello All,
I have a table ui in one of my application.   This table has, say 6 columns; out of these 6 columns 4 columns are shown as input fields. User needs to put in some numbers in two of the fields. I need to capture these two number fields data and subtract one from the other. If number is negative , I need to let the user know by error message that the number is negative and they need to fix their input to make the answer positive. I am able to do all this, but I am not able to high light the corresponding field which needs to be fixed. Is there anyway I can do that...I mean high light the particular field as one gets it when we use the "report attribute error message" method of message manager class.
Secondly I can not halt the application, I need to do some work around for that using some flags. Is there a simple way to halt the application, other than using flags and if condition? I searched this forum, but could not find any definite answer....

First you should have the table values in an internal table.... for that yo need to get the values from the context like this....
*DECLARE INTERNAL TABLE AND WORKAREA.
data ls_nd_stru type wd_this->element_<node name>
data lt_nd_table type wd_this->elements_<node name>
get all declared attributes
lo_nd_<your context node>->get_static_attributes_table(
                                           importing
                                           table = lt_nd_table ).
*now your lt_nd_table will have the values.....what ever you have in the table.
*then
loop at lt_nd_table into ls_nd_stru.
<.....your logic.....>
<ie., read the current line of the field like
ls_nd_stru-<field name1> = ls_nd_stru-<field name2> - ls_nd_stru-<field name3>
then check error msg... based on your postive or negative values
endloop.

Mail attachment drag and drop issue

Been facing serious mail attachment drag-and-drop issue since 10.8 (if not from 10.7) and was disappointed to find the same behaviour still in 10.9.
When I drag and drop a picture file (from Finder for example) into a message window or onto the Mail.app Dock icon, the system's window management somehow gets confused: my next step is to click on the message window in order to start typing. However, the mouse click causes that very window to escape under all other open applications / windows. Further on, I dig under to find the escapee and click again: once more it escapes. This can go on for a few annoying rounds until gets solved in an unexplainable way. This behaviour in not consistent, but has happens in about 8 cases out of 10.
Apart from Mail.app I do not experience drag and drop issues of any kind.
Anyone else suffering from this?

It only just started happening to me a day or so ago, about the time that I think I did an OS upgrade.
I'm on OSX 10.8.2.
Its annoying.
I can drop and drag in Finder but it just affects email.

Drag and Drop issue from Explorer folder to Music Library

I just updated my iTunes to 8.0.0.20 but something unexpected happened. I can’t drag and drop anymore songs from an explorer folder into my music library when my view mode is set to Grid (Album, Artist, Genre or Composer).
When I try I have a kind of interdiction circle under my pointer.
I can only perform this operation in list mode view. Few hours ago it was still possible to perform it but not after I updated. I reinstalled my iTunes but the problem persists.
I have read the forums I know I can add to my playlist as usual by using the menu. But is it possible to get drag and drop operation when I drags song directly from a folder on my explorer window?
It would be very appreciated if someone has an answer. I really messed up my library trying to fix this

I fixed the drag and drop issues I had! Turns out they were caused by the permission problems of Vista. To fix it I just made sure all the files in the iTunes folder and sub folders were full control by my account.
Make sure you check the properties of the iTunes database specifically because before, the iTunes folder had the correct permissions but they hadn't actually been inherited correctly by the iTunes DB files. Hope this helps anyone else.

Drag and drop issue alternatives

i'm having the same drag and drop issue as the other guys here. basically cant drag and drop to the desktop. Im looking for a workaround that doesnt involve making temporary backups or repairing iphoto libraries. My library is 260gb and even though it is being backed up i dont have a spare 260gb.

That does not exist - the workaround (maybe permanent solution - who knows) is
File menu ==> export
And BTW if you are not backingup all the time you are 100% guarenteed to lose all of your files and photos sooner or later

High Watermark issue with monitoring Service Manager 2012 R2

Our customer has a Service Manager / Operations Manager 2012 R2 environment where SCOM will regularly generate an alarm related to High Watermark monitoring on the Service Manager data warehouse - not every day though. The alarm looks like this:
Value of 3559 is not higher than 3559
This value hasn't changed for weeks.
Having done a lot of searching we have found nothing but reference to the same recurring flow of information where people keep mentioning different values but there is no conclusion of what this might be caused by and how to solve it. The solutions
have become outdated anyway. Here is one example:

The Service Manager Database Account in SCOM is our service account that has sysadmin in SQL. Basically, with regards to the security configuration, our customer should be covered.
To my knowledge agent-based and agentless monitoring have both been supported since SCSM 2012 SP1. Also, we have the latest management pack for Service Manager monitoring in SCOM, at the moment this should be
7.5.3079.0.
As mentioned above the value has not been changing for quite some time and nor has it in the database.
My questions are the following:
- Is there anyone that has found a solution in the meantime, especially with regards to R2?
- What is the purpose of High Watermark monitoring for the data warehouse? Why does this need to be monitored?
- We would like to understand the nature of this value better. Should it be higher each day compared to the day before?
- Could it just be overriden in SCOM?

Rather unexpectedly, the SCOM alarm disappeared overnight and when checking the workflow in the incident that was generated from the alarm, the incident got a Resolved status right before midnight at 23:59:58. We have a ConfigMgr connector that is scheduled
to run at 23:00 which we had disabled a day ago to check something else. But I don't think it had anything to do with this. As the alarm has disappeared from the SCOM console, we have also checked the registry values. Now, instead of "3559 3559 3559"
it says "3559 3559 3585". We have had the 3559 value since 18th July, and out of a sudden something must have been triggered, causing the value to increase. What was triggered and how, no idea... Not sure either what it means that only one of the

High light text

Hi,
I have a very large project that I need to have text highlight in sync with the audio. Does anyone know of a simple way to do this? Are there features in Final cut Pro Live type motion or other software that will allow me to do this? Or, am stuck doing it all through Photoshop?

What I do to add a "high-light" or a soft outline around my test I do the following:
-Create a new text clip
-In the Viewer go to the Control Tab, type your text. Then go to the Motion Tab.
-Check Drop Shadow, and open the triangle to view all of it's perameters.
-I change the color to my desire (usually a lighter color such as neon green).
-Then in the Drop Shadow Offset field, I set it to 0.
-I change my softness up to 100% as well as my opacity.
-You can increase the size, but it will give a little highlight behind the text. It's easily keyframable. I keyframe it to go along with a specific part in my sequence or my audio.
Then you don't have to go into Photoshop. Just another method.
LiveType gives good features for this also.
