Dragging Image changes format

If I drag an image to my desktop from Google Images the format automatically changes from .gif, tif, or .png to .jpeg. Is there a setting that will keep the image in the original format? I'm in Lion now and don't know how long this has been happening.

that works but defeats the purpose of drag and drop. Works with Both Safari and Chrome.

  • InDesign CC 2014 very slow performance when dragging images and changing text

InDesign CC 2014 very slow performance when dragging images and changing text.
Running on 2010 Macpro 2.4GHz. 8GB RAM. Any solutions? I've read through many forums on this and tried several fixes.

Have exact same issue on  my Windows 7 machine. Resetting preferences is a workaround.
So I start InDesign whilst holding down these keys.
Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac)
Whilst inDesign is usable again with this fix- I have to do it every time so it trashes all my preferences so NOT GOOD long term fix. Otherwise InDesign freezes and can only be stopped by forcing a quit.
I have manually deleted the preference files and I have created a brand new admin account - but still no luck - will be onto support tomorrow

  • My drag images disappear when they are dropped on a correct drop target during the drag and drop interaction.

What am I missing. The opacity is at 100%. The drop target is a highlighted box from objects. I am using Captivate 8.

    Hi there,
You might want to make sure your Depth setting is not set to Back instead of Front on your drop target(s).
The Depth setting is accessed via the Drag and Drop window/panel under Format setting while you have your drop target selected.
If your Depth setting is set to Back, especially if your opacity is set to 100% on your highlight box/drop target, your drag image would go behind your drop target giving the effect of disappearing behind your highlight box - especially if the drop target is larger than the drag image.

  • Can we able to drag images directly

can we able to drag images directly in a pane or we have to put it on some label like components
will all the mouse events will work when we can able to drag images directly, else when we drag from
putting it on labels , will all the mouse events will work , which will be more overhead draging tthe labels
or draging our own created jcomponents

PNG is already a compressed format and most likely you already have achieved the maximum possible result. Unlike with JPEG, there are no compression levels. If you want it smaller, you have to reduce the dimensions or the amount of colors, but that's about it.

  • Drag images not appearing in Windows

The default drag image in Linux is fine. On Windows, there is no default image. Just a cursor with a teeny-weeny box. It just does not look professional at all. Is there anything I can do about this? has anyone run into this before?
    thanks,
    Geoff

    Thanks.
Yeah, totally strange here. On Friday it seemed to have changed. I feel as though I may have changed some sort of setting and didn't know it. However, I changed back all of the settings ( http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs4-cs5.html#main_Re storeMac ) to the default ones. Still didn't work. I feel that I may have to unistall then reinstall it again to see if that fixes the problem.

  • Image file formats to use in print pdfs

We receive images from several vendors in order to build our catalogs in Adobe InDesign CS2, and then we export print pdfs from InDesign. We want to standardize our requirements for receiving images from vendors, and we had a question related to file formats. Is it okay to use jpeg files as long as they are in high-resolution CMYK format?
It is a part of our work flow to accept the images untouched from the vendor, no re naming of files, or changing f file formats. I understand that the safest bet is for EPS and TIFF formatted images, but will JPEG files be problematic in any way? Someone told me that because of their compressed format that some info could get lost when embedding into pdfs. Is there a book, or any printed documentation about what types of image file formats to use to create pdfs?
    Thanks,
    Elliott

    (1) There is nothing "unsafe" about JPEG-compressed images. However, JPEG compression is
lossy and depending upon the type of image, its resolution, and the compression settings used when creating the JPEG file, the results at the end of the workflow may not be satisfactory. That having been said, if JPEG compression is used for a photographic image (not a screen shot or an image representation of what should be a vector diagram), the "maximum quality" setting is used in producing the JPEG image (
not maximum compression), and the image is of appropriate resolution for its final purpose (at least 150 dpi, preferably closer to 300 dpi for printing) at full magnification, then there is nothing "unsafe" about JPEG.
    (2) You should be aware that saving images in EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) format from Photoshop may yield JPEG compression, depending upon options chosen. Thus, there is nothing inherently "safer" about EPS compared to JPEG. And ironically, you can also get JPEG compression in TIFF files if you aren't careful how you save them, although that is very uncommon.
    (3) CMYK is not necessary for image placement into InDesign as long as the image is tagged with the appropriate ICC color profile (such as sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc.). InDesign can convert those RGB images to whatever the final print conditions are or, if creating PDF, leave the images in RGB format with the ICC profile. How you create the output obviously depends heavily on what type of workflow your print service provider has. More "up to date" printers support color-managed workflows with ICC color profile tagged images in PDF files.
    (4) In terms of receiving images from vendors, if you require them to convert the images from whatever their native RGB color space is to CMYK, you really must specify
which CMYK and provide the correct ICC color profile to them! Different print processes use different CMYK color spaces. If you convert RGB to the wrong color space, the results can be awful. You are probably best off requiring that vendors submit photos in their original RGB color space, but tagged with the appropriate ICC color profile.

  • Drag & Drop - drag image fade effect

I'm attaching drag image using InitializeFromBitmap in IDragSourceHelper and I noticed attached image get some kind of fade-out effect if width exceeds 300px, which itself isn't that bad, considering normal DPI settings. But this 300px isn't scaled with
system DPI, so any drag image that I want to be opaque needs to be tiny.
Is there any way to avoid applying this fade effect, or to make it respect DPI setting?

    Hi pault36225916,
As per my understanding, you are using Acrobat X and want to add images directly into the PD document (correct me if I am wrong, please).
If so, then you can follow the steps given below:
    1. Go to Tools > Content > Edit Object Tool
    2. Right-click the page and choose Place Image
    3. Choose any of these image formats: bmp, jpeg, gif, pcx, png, jpeg2000 or tiff
    4. Select an image file and click open.
A copy of an image file appears on the PDF page with the same resolution as the original one.
Hope the above information helps you.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
    Regards,
    Anubha

  • Please add support for JPEG Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF)

It seems that now Adobe® Illustrator® can export only to the JPEG File Interchange Format (JFIF). We should have an option to produce the JPEG Exchangeable image file format (EXIF) as well (just like Photoshop does!). Why this is so important to me? I generally work under Illustrator and I often post my work on Behence. I work with 'sRGB IEC61966-2.1' color profile. When publishing I use *.jpg with embedded ICC Color Profile. But it looks like Behence doesn’t fully support the JPEG JFIF – for example it cannot read its icc data correctly. The effect is that my work looses its quality! The only option to produce the JPEG EXIF I have now is to: Export *.ai file to JPEG (under Adobe Illustrator) > go to Photoshop > Create new project > Paste the *.jpg > and Sava As JPEG with icc embedded. This guarantees my files are being processed correctly.
(JPEG) Formally, the EXIF and JFIF standards are incompatible. This is because both specify that their particular application segment (APP0 for JFIF, APP1 for Exif) must be the first in the image file. In practice, many programs and digital cameras produce files with both application segments included. This will not affect the image decoding for most decoders, but poorly designed JFIF or Exif parsers may not recognize the file properly. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG_File_Interchange_Format#Exif_comparison )

  • Drag and Drop - Drag Image

I'm using the Flex DragManager in an AdvancedDataGrid with
HierarchicalData to allow the user to drag and drop tree nodes to
re-order them. It is working fine. The problem I am having is with
the drag image. The drag image does not always show up. It seems
like it will appear for one drag and drop. Then if I try to drag
another tree node I do not get the drag image there is just a line
    to show I'm dragging something.
When I say drag image I mean the faded image of the text of
the tree node which appears as I drag the tree node.
I am using the following properties on the AdvancedDataGrid
    to enable drag and drop:
    dragEnabled="true" dropEnabled="true" dragMoveEnabled="true"
Now if set dragMoveEnabled="false" then I do get a drag image
everytime. But I need move the tree nodes around not copy them so I
    need dragMoveEnabled="true".
    Thank you

  • SQL query, function or SP for converting varbinary to image(.jpg format).

    Dear Sir/Mam
I want SQL query, function or SP which converts binary data to image (.jpg format).
I m able to convert image (.jpg format) to varbinary. But not able to convert vice versa.
    thanks in advance.

Binary data is binary data - "image" is only an intrepretation of binary data.  Therefore your question makes little sense in the context of sql server since it does not have any facilities to utilize images.  Since you provide no context, I'm
guessing that you are trying to retrieve an image stored in the database in a varbinary column and have your application use it as an image.  If so, you should post your question to a forum that is specific to your development environment.

  • Why does the color and or tone of my image change?

Why does the color and or tone of my image change after working in LR for a couple of hours? I open LR and everything looks fine - work for a couple of hours on the same shoot - but then the pictures start to look flat or greenish cast as time goes by. All the files get flat and the greenish cast after a couple of hours - the ones already worked on and the newer ones I'm pulling up to work on. RAW files downloaded from a Canon 30D. Also exporting to PSCS2 as PROPhoto results in a flat image. I switched back to export AdobeRGB.

Hola - thanks for the reply - yep - closing and then opening LR helps - but can't do that all the time after processing 3 or 4 files.
One reply was a corrupt monitor color profile - So I deleted that one and loaded a new adobeRGB profile. That helped a little also for a while - I then reloaded my monitor drivers and refreshed them - that help for a day - the greenish cast is back It works fine on my laptop for now. The same pictures that look greenish in LR look great in Canon DPP. So it probably wasn't the color profile or monitor drivers. My issue started with the small scale previews so I bumped that up. Still have the issue. I finished up a project and now going to uninstall and reinstall LR. Let's see what happens with a fresh install. andy.

  • Custom Cursor and Drag Image in 1.4 DnD

What is the proper way to provide a custom cursor and drag image in 1.4 DnD? Say we initiate the drag on a component that supports data transfer (such as a JTree).

Well, this is strange. My app was locking up (100% CPU) when using DND from windows Explorer.
I noticed that another part of the same appliction was working perfictly. The difference: JFrame .vs. JDialog. I switched the offending JDialog to a JFrame and all works perfictly now!
    java version "1.4.0"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-b92)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-b92, mixed mode)
I would like to switch back at some point, but my g.setXORMode() problem is a much bigger issue for us. (That is, once you enter the XOR mode, you can not go back!)
