Dragging invitees from Directory to iCal event

I have OS X 10.5 installed and iCal server running. On my iCal 3.0 clients I can create an event and drag an individual from either AB or Directory to the attendees box in the event I am editing.
However, I am unable to drag the same individual from the "Directory" category in AB into the attendees box, neither am I able to drag groups from Directory or AB to the attendees box of the event. I always get the "green light" and it looks like it going to work, it does not complain or report any errors, it just doesn't do anything.
Any suggestions welcome.

Hi
A. DO NOT - Move or alter anything in any folder named - iMovie Projects or iMovie Events on DeskTop/Finder AT ALL - Moving Events and Projects MUST BE DONE within the iMovie Application ! Else connections will break and this can be anything from hard to impossibly to repair.
B. The external hard disk to harbor iMovie Projects and Events
• MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will work for most BUT NOT FOR VIDEO - AT ALL !
• Should be a FireWire one - as USB/USB2 performs badly to me
In iMovie - this external hard disk can be seen in Event resp. Project window and here You can move a project from one to the other and when asked let it move Events over too. This can be very good as the space needed , freed-up is mainly in Events as Project do not hold a copy of Your movie but just a text document on howto the material in Events are supposed to be played = Non-Destructive editing.

  • Drag appointment from Mail into iCal - won't automatically go into iCloud

When I drag an appointment from Mail into iCal, it saves the event on the calendar "Home - On my Mac" even though I have told iCal to default as "Home (iCloud)" Is there any way I can get Mail to drop into iCal on my default iCloud account so iCloud (and thus iPhone etc) updates automatically?!
    Thanks!

  • Can i link to a specific sent email within a cell like the "Show in Mail" drag and drop feature in iCal events?

Trying to make a log of phone and email contacts with customers.  I want to link to the actual email I sent to the customer, like the "show in mail" drag and drop feature in iCal.  Thanks

Links in Numbers can do only two things external to the document:
Open a page on the web
Open and address a NEW email message, ready to compose and send.

  • Cannot type in invitees in ical event.

    Hello,
I am facing a problem in adding invitees when creating an ical event
I cannot type an address that is not stored in my address book.
Is there any way to help please?
    Thank you

Either you have a demo version that has expired or you simply opened a Layout template that requires a textbox to type into.
Go back to Template Chooser and open a Word Processing temnplate (see the sidebar).

  • Dragging invitee to iCal from address book doesn't work

In Snow Leopard I would drag invitees to an event from Address Book and it would begin checking their availability.  Now when I drag an invitee, the red bubble with the number of contacts I'm dragging over appears, but the invitees don't actually make it over.

  • ICal Forcing Invites After Dragging Contact From Address Book

Every since the update to Mac OS X 10.6.5 and the latest MobileMe calendar update, when I drag a contact over from the address book to iCal it forces me to invite them to the meeting and sends out a meeting request. I only do this so that it links the person to the event so when I use my iPhone and select the event, I can then select the person and it will then link me to their contact info. Sure, the invite option is a nice feature but some of these invites would be unsolicited. In the past I was able to just click "don't send" or something similar and avoid the invite. Now it seems as if I don't have a choice. Can someone acknowledge this nuance? In addition, has anyone found a workaround?

I have the same problem and not found a comparable workaround either.
If I want to create an iCal event that lists invitees but does not send them an invitation, the only thing I can do is to put their name into the notes section instead of the invitee section. However, names can not link from the notes section... but phone numbers and addresses can on the iPhone. I can then call or map them from the notes section.
It is not a pretty fix, and by no means comparable, but it is the best alternative of which I know.

  • HT202297 I can't drag my ical events over to the reminders list.

I can't drag my ical events over to the reminders list (that's not there anymore) like I used to be able to do. Why?

What version of iphoto? If it's iPhoto 11:
Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?
    Iphoto 09 or earlier
Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window +should+ open with the file selected. Does it?

  • E-mail links from iCal event - not working in Yosemite

My workflow has always depended on dragging e-mails from Mail to iCal
This generates link in ical event "Show in mail" - giving me option to find the e-mail with one click from iCal
Since Yosemite install the links go wrong!
I can generate several events from several e-mails and all links point me to the same random e-mail. I haven't yet found clear pattern in this randomness, but it seems to link to the first mail-to-iCal created after sleep/restart, but not always...
    Anybody experiencing similar bug?
Tried "mailbox" > "rebuid" with no result.
    Any more ideas?
I'm on MB Pro 2009 using POP-accounts for mail but the random-link behavior is just same when dragging mails from my icloud account.

Well it's good news i'm not alone in this - frustrating indeed!
Searching for solutions with no result so far.
I've been migrating my user library from one opsys to other since Leopard i guess, so probably i should just do a clean install one day - this MUST help
My workaround after a week of being just unable to manage my incoming information was to use Notes
Dragging emails to notes content still works, and in a way i kind of like it - u can keep a single note with several links to different emails etc. At least for now it seems like a decent substitute. Organizing notes to folders is helpful too, but i guess you can't organize folders in iOS which is really bad.
So - still hoping to move back to my iCal

  • Adding invitee to iCal event causes double-ups

Whenever I add an invitee to an iCal event, it doubles up on iCal when they accept. Cannot delete double-up as it deletes it off invitee's calendar.

I'm having the same problem. From the number of unresolved problems with iCal under Snow Leopard I suspect that the application is in need of some serious refactoring. Clearly, the problem with inserting invitees is a problem with an index on the contacts application or the type of query that is being issued. I suspect the later since the mail application does not have the same problem.
Has anyone at Apple with access to source code looked into this? Is there a more formal way of submitting a problem report?

    Hello jo ann51,
For correcting mail issues, I would recommend reviewing the following article. It contains helpful troubleshooting steps and information:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Error dragging reminders to iCal event

Hi, can someone help with this. I've just installed Lion on my MacBook Pro. I'm trying to drag reminders onto my iCal calender, turning them into events. After each drag and drop I get this error: "https://p06-caldav.icloud.com:443/111783007/principal/ is not a location that supports this request."
I then get two option boxes to choose between: "Go Offline" and "Revert to Server". If I click revert to server, the Reminder appears as an event, but won't sync to other devices.
Can someone explain what the problem is?
The Reminders were originally created on my iPhone and synced over to my MacBook Pro via iCloud, if that helps.
    Neil

What I have found is that if I do the drag and drop in the web version of iCloud calander, it works fine. The problem is that if you drag a reminder to the an event in iCal, it doesn't automatically associate itself with a calander, hence it crashes, as iCal can't handle an event that is not associated with a calander.
A simple bug, it seems, which hopefully Apple will fix – but I suspect everyone is busy working out how to get more than 14 hours of life from an iPhone 4s battery!

  • Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?

Hi, Im not a frequent forum poster, as most of my questions can be found already answered on them!
This is a question Ive had for a long time and it amazes me that no-one else seems to ask it. I check at each OS upgrade but its never there...
Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
I was able to do this years ago in MS Outlook, and utilized it all the time when I needed to push things back, now I have to open the event and select an new date in the drop-down calendar for each & every event I want to move to a new month at the end of the month.
If its definitely not possible, how to you ask apple to consider including it - it doesnt seem like a particularly difficult task.
    Thankyou
    Andrew.

    Andrew,
Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
No, but you can use cut/paste. Cut (⌘X) the event, then click on the week where you want to move the event, and Paste (⌘V).
If you have a suggestion for Apple to change that method use: Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.

  • Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Help....duplications of ical events on iPhone and only syncing from mac to iPhone?

    Hi,
Has anyone got any suggestions for fixing this problem.....
My iPhone syncs with my Mac perfectly via iTunes apart from iCal, which is giving me real grief! iCal on my mac is in perfect order and syncs events to my phone but my phone has duplicate and triplicate events and even events in different states of being edited. The iphone doesnt sync events made in it back to the mac either.
It syncs contacts etc. fine, just not iCal events.
Is there an easy way of fixing this or even totally reseting iCal on the Mac and iPhone so it clears this up? (obviously, I need to keep my calendar events though)
I've tried replacing the info on the phone, reseting the phone, changing to iCloud syncing and back again and I even upgraded to the iPhone 5 (which I was going to do anyway )
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8, iCal 4.0.4, iTunes 11.0.2 and I was on an iPhone 4 and now iPhone 5. It's been happening for two months now and it's getting really frustrating!
Thanks for any help in advance

This fixed my problem - finally!!
