Dragon Dictate with FCE

I have ordered Dragon Dictate but have not used it yet. I am wondering if it is likely to be helpful with FCE? I cannot imagine it would be terribly helpful, but it would be good if it could save a few mouse actions or keyboard strokes. Has anyone used it in this way?
Thanks, Keith

Thanks for your response. I have ordered Dragon Dictate so have not tried it yet. But I see from the demo that you can give commands like File>new. So I wondered if in FCE one could speak, File>export> Quicktime etc? Anything to save the old wrist.
Actually I am experimenting using my left hand on the mouse. sure does slow down and frustrate the use of FCE!

  • Using Dragon Dictate with Pocketcloud

We use Pocketcloud to access our terminal server. Specifically our attorneys do a lot of work inside the connection in Outlook and our Case Management software. We are trying to use Dragon Dictate to Dictate notes and emails and copy and paste to the applications within Pocketcloud. We cannot get anything to paste into apps within Pocketcloud. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

  • I bought dragon dictate with my mac pro. NO DVD DRIVE.. now what do i do?

Can I return it and just get the dragon express in apps? My mom got this Mac book for school and I am paralyzed. I need a talk to text app. She bought the Dragon and we did not know the mac did not have a dvd drive (this is my first mac) PLEASE HELP. CAn we return the dragon dictate?

    You have a couple options.
Depending on where and when you purchased the Dragon software, they will possibly, even likely, allow you to return the software if it is unopened.  If you've already opened the packaging, it will obviously be more difficult to return.  In that case, you might try reaching out to the folks at Dragon and explaining the situation.  If they use license/activation numbers, it should be pretty easy for you to prove to them you haven't activated the software, and they might swap it or offer a refund.
Another option is to use an external DVD drive to install the software.  You could purchase such a device (newegg.com, amazon.com, apple.com).  Or, a better option would be to visit an Apple store, and ask them to install the software for you.  That won't cost you a dime.
Don't fret!  There are plenty of good solutions available to you.  Good luck!

  • Dragon Dictate headset not recognized by V3

The usb headset came with Dragon Dictate v3.  After defining the Profile and proceeding to Training, I am instructed that I need to attach the headset!!!
I have been a user of Dragon Dictate since its inception  ... it isn't me!
    Frustrated Chuck

    Linc,
Thanks for your response.  Yes, other USB devices do work.  Checked the Dragon microphone on  System Preferences > Sound.  The output was bad unless the Alert Volume was at max ... and even then not loud.  Input was low.
I do have another Dragon microphone and that works fine as per System Preferences > Sound!  Tried to use it with Dragon Dictate with same results as in my query.
In a related issue,  I also have a Sennheiser microphone which has superb audio characteristics but is not USB.  I used it for many years, since Dragon Dictate was released.  Now, however, Dragon dictate gives the same respoinse as above.????
    Any input or suggestions?

  • Dragon Dictate w. Aperture?

Anyone using Dragon Dictate with Aperture?
I have several tens of thousands of images to keyword, and nothing I've tried (carefully built keyword hierarchy, custom key assignments, custom button assignments on a 17-button mouse (Naga Razer)) has gotten me close to a keyword-assignment rate high enough. Assigning keywords by voice might do it -- but does it work?
Thanks. And *'Appy New Years* (you heard it here first )

    Thanks ... I think ...

There, I think I covered all the bases there - condescension, trivialising, assuming you can't figure this out yourself. Now I can have a happy new year....
BTW - if you do figure out using Dictate in Aperture, let me know. I've been considering it myself with version 2 having come out!
Sadly (or perhaps not), the Internet remains a speech environment where nuance is difficult and often mis-taken. Are the qualities listed above meant to inform me of my posting "voice"?
If so, please elaborate -- I try to be helpful.
If not, forgive me for mis-interpreting -- and have a heavenly '11.

  • Trouble with mic on dragon dictate?

i am having problems with my macbook running 10.9.1 using dragon  dictate headset, mic keeps saying not connected.

  • Can the Mavericks dictation and speech app coexist with Dragon Dictate?

I just turned on the dictation and speech app.  I already had dragon dictate installed.  Now nothing works for dictation.  Can they exist together?  How? Thanks for the help.

I too have Dragon Dictate.  There appear to be some low-level device driver conflicts between Mavericks Dictate and Dragon Dictate, especially when using the Plantronics BT300 wireless headset.  The Plantronics BT300 unit has a pre-paired bluetooth USB attachment that connects with the wireless headset.
Usually the Dragon Dictate software works when I launch it.
When I try to use the BT300 headset with certain other apps, sometimes it hangs.
In particular, when using GoToMeeting, the Plantronics BT300 microphone works, but the Plantronics BT300 audio does not work.  I am able to use the built-in Mac speakers on my iMac to receive the audio.
In trying to set up the BT300 headset for both microphone and audio output to the BT300 headset, the system displays the "beach ball" for lengthy periods of time.  A couple of times the entire iMac system hung, and I had to do a force power-off, then reboot.
Today was the first time I attempted to turn on the Mavericks Dictate.  The entire system appeared to slow down around the attempt to use the Plantronics BT300 headset.  I will next turn off Dragon Dictate, and see if Mavericks Dictate will accept the BT300 unit.
I have also a wired Plantronics headset, and will unhook the bluetooth headset and plug in the wired headset and see if that combination works any better.
Just to complicate things, I have also installed Parallels Desktop for Mac (and keep it updated to the current version and update level for Mavericks).  Parallels has a virtual audio adapter, and I have NOT yet tried using either version of Dictate with a Windows guest operating system.
    Advice and comments are appreciated.

  • Why am I now getting plugin prompts for every single website I now visit with Dragon Dictate enabled?

We have used the Dragon Dictate add on for the past 4 months with no problem (the last 2 versions of Firefox I believe). Now since the new version launched this morning, there is pop-up warning for every single website visited - "Allow www.xxxx.com to run Dragon Dictate Internet" along with a 'Continue Blocking' or 'Allow' button. Why is this here since it was not present before? Surely there must be a global setting where I can switch this off rather than have to click a button and choose 'Allow' for every single website we go to?? Or is this something that Dragon has to fix in how it deals with the new version of Firefox?

    You are a genius.
Why didn't I see that Tab?? Lack of sleep certainly does make one blind..
    many thanks

  • Using Wolfram Alpha with Dragon Dictate

I know that wolfram alpha has an api to use.  Would it be possible to use dragon dictate to ask your computer questions and use WA as the database?

Does any one know how to go about removing all traces of Dragon completely to do a new, fresh install.
If the software did not come w/an uninstaller, contact the manufacturer for uninstall detailed instructions.  It's their product not Apple's.

I have Dragon Dictate but did not notice until now that the earphone jack is only for listening so I cannot dictate using headphones and the mic on the computer is not good enough for that. A friend gave me a USB card that says 3D Sound on top; it is  a plastic case, charcoal gray in color and side jacks to connect headphone and mic. Connected to computer but it does not do a thing. Any ideas on how to make it work?

You are not supposed to connect a pair of speakers(as in left and right in a stereo pair)to two separate out jacks on the sound card.the place on the card where headphones/speakers with the mini jack goes is the right place.

  • Maverick Dictation-  or Dragon dictate-Which is better?

I've used Dragon dictate products since 2005 on PC's and then Macs. I want to know any advantages in switching to Maverick Dictation. Please advise.

I have been using Dragon Dictate for some time.  The initial training took about half an hour, after which it had a very high accuracy rate in recognizing my own voice.  I appreciated being able to specify the accent of which English I was speaking -- North American mid north continent -- or something like that.  It got pretty close to the general accent of English as spoken in Manitoba, and the voice training seemed to round out the fine details.  It did not train for slang expressions, such as our habit of ending many phrases with "eh?", but I suppose I could train it to do so, eh?
I liked that Dragon Dictate did not have to go back to a central server somewhere every time I wanted to use it.  As I recall, it gave me an 'enhanced" option similar to the Mavericks option.
I am still learning how to enter the command mode and easily switch back and forth between dictate mode and command mode.  The dictation is very easy.  The commands take a significant learning curve.
I appreciate also that I can dictate text into almost any app, document, spreadsheet, web page, and so on.  I had a lot of typing to do (and I type about 80 words a minute), and decided that I needed to learn to use my voice to dictate text, in addition to simply typing.  I talk slightly faster than I can type.  Being naturally long-winded, dictating text fills up more space than typing words.
I will be testing Mavericks Dictate in the near future to get a better idea of how the two compare.

  • I the Dragon Dictate Plugin Safe to install? A warning message came up

I recently received a message from Dragon Dictate (Nuance) asking me to install a new plugin. When I went to do so a warning message came up saying that the plugin was not fully compliant with standards and that it might allow outsiders to access my personal data. All comments are  welcome.
    Thanks.
    Roy

Assuming you are using that program, should probably contact its developer to determine the reason for the message.
Without knowing the source or the content of the warning message, all others can do is guess. A screenshot would be helpful.
