Dragon Dictation + touch 64Gb

Any reason the new Dragon dictation software would not be compatible with an ipod touch 3G 64gb? This particular model has the voice command capability. When I try to sync the app, it tells me my ipod is incompatible.

From the product description in itunes:
"Requirements: Compatible with iphone."
No mention of ipod touch.

  • Problems using Dragon Dictate for Mac.

I used Dragon Naturally Speaking for years on my PC.  Switched to an IMac.  Dragon for Mac leaves a lot to be desired - training, recognizing, editing.  Any suggestions about how to improve performance or other voice recognition software for Mac users?  I dictate a lot of reports using MS Word.

First of all I have no expertise in installing programs if they are problematic, I can only pass on my experience which relates to trying to purchase and install an Upgrade from MacSpeech Dictate 1.5 to Dragon Dictate 2.5 and the past experience I have had with MacSpeech, the company before Nuance.
The 800-number doesn't get you to Technical Support and I think I was hung up on as well.  The wait for technical support was about 10 minutes.  If you are paying for the phone call by the minute that could be costly.

    781-565-4960
The tech was patient and his directions were easy to follow.  He logged into my screen using Join Me and if you find that too invasive, it may also be a reason not to continue with Dictate.
Do I understand that you purchased a physical copy of the program on disk? Was it as an Upgrade that Nuance shipped to you?  And it wouldn't let you register the product?  The other criticism I had of MacSpeech and it seems to have carried on to Nuance was that the matter of accounts and registration accounts can be a forest.
The website to register the program is www.macspeech.com/licenses/. (There is another site for registering other Nuance products but it doesn't recognize your account for products that have been registered on the MaSspeech site.).To register the product you will need to set up an account (not an uncommon process) but that account will not be the way you access the download if you purchase the product by digital copy.If you purchase the program as a physical copy, I would suggest you register the product before you start installing but it really shouldn't be necessary because the program will prompt you to register if the install goes well.
I can't recall which identification they asked for when I called technical services - the product code, the order number, or my registration account but I was prepared with all of them.
Once you do register a program, the code can be accessed in the future if you keep track of the account and website on which you registered it.  I see there is also an option which downloads the code to your computer but heaven-knows-where it is stored.  On some other programs the code is stored in the application icon menu. My account on the Macspeech registration website stores the codes for 3 programs I have had since Nuance took over from MacSpeech.
If you have purchased a physical copy and the registration site I listed above won't let you register it, I would call the 800-number which is
    Customer Service
    800-654-1187
What I was trying to do was purchase the Upgrade of Dragon Dictate 2.5 as the result of an email offer because I was a previous customer of MacSpeech Dictate 1.5.  The website only seemed to offer to send me a physical copy with shipping of either $24 or $30 to Canada. When I decided I wouldn't buy the Upgrade because of the shipping cost, I found that I couldn't remove the item from the shopping cart and eventually couldn't even access the shopping cart.  When I called the 800-number to complain they told me there was a problem on the website which wasn't offering the download which was my preference.  They offered to sell me the digital download over the phone which I could then retrieve from the website www.findmyorder.com with the login which asks for the order number and a password (which I think was assigned when I placed the order, but as I said, registration, download access, etc can be a forest and I was very confused by this time.)
At the www.findmyorder.com website, there were two files to download, the program for 2.5 and the data disk. When I tried to install the program and the data, the process started going around in circles asking for things over and over again.I wondered what I was doing wrong (a common reaction) so I tried to install the program on another computer.  The install on the second computer was easy and although I hadn't yet registered the product the program prompted me to register it. It also updated to 2.5.1 (although I only am aware of that in retrospect.)  So I went back to the first computer and tried to install again. The same problem happened.  At one point I exceeded the number of downloads which is 5 because I was trying to get rid of downloads that didn't seem to be working.  I called the 800-number and without too much difficulty, the person reset the downloads.  But the same thing happened, with the program asking for the data disk.  That is when I called Tech Support.
After the tech showed me where to retrieve 2.5.1 from their website (because he said 2.5 was buggy) and I reinstalled the data disk from the www.findmyorder.com website, the install worked well.  BTW I found it hard to understand on the www.findmyorder.com download website which file was which.  I got very confused and ended up not getting the data disk.  The program disk image which is listed second is called Dragon_Dictate_Englishes.2.5.dmg.  The data file listed first is Dragon_English_Data2.5dmg.  You need both files normally but if you are getting the 2.5.1 file, I don't believe you have to have installed 2.5 first.
In retrospect I may have not understood how to install the two files - the program file and the data file but I can't remember exactly what was happening. By that time I was pretty lost.
Back to MacSpeech Dictate 1 or 1.5, I assumed that I would have to have this installed on my computer in order to install the Upgrade of Dragon Dictate 2.5. Remember, I was trying to install 2.5 on a new computer. Although I had done this before I tried to purchase the Upgrade 2.5 (because the computer was new and MacSpeech 1.5 hadn't been installed on it yet), I am not sure it was necessary.
There didn't seem to be any "secret codes" that hadn't to be removed first.  You may be talking about old or corrupted plist files which sometimes interfere with applications.  The tech just told me to drag any 2.5 applications to the trash after we got off the phone, of which by now I had about 5 on the computer.  I have had old versions on a previous computer and they never seemed to interfere with one another. I think I still have iListen 1.0 on a very old computer as well as every fresh version and upgrade.
I hope this reply wasn't too long and didn't add to the confusion.  As I said in the first message, the criticisms are well founded.  Installing MacSpeech iListen and accessing services has been a minefield from the beginning and it isn't improving.  For someone interested in easy-to-use voice recognition I would suggest the Dragon Dictate app for an iPad or iPod Touch.  Works wonderfully but it has very limited features.
My husband, who has physical disabilities but until recently could type better than MacSpeech Dictate was working for him and didn't have a computer that would work with MacSpeech Dictate, has been using Dragon Dictate 2.5.1 on his new computer without a microphone for a couple of days.  He believes there is hope, although with past versions he was frustrated after an hour and quit.  One new thing in Dragon Dictate 2.5 is that editing on the keyboard before you finish the document does not mess up further voice input.  He continues to struggle with voice control (a good exercise for the voice) and his tendency to talk as if there he has a secretary taking shorthand.  You really do have to talk to the computer in a conversational way, speaking in full sentences or full phrases if possible, not in separate words.
From iListen 1.0 I kept saying that voice recognition would work well for everyone.  It has been a long road but I can see on the horizon that it will be available for everyone.  The iPad/iPod app is close.

  • Dragon Dictation Instructions?

Hi - I've recently installed Dragon Dictation on my iPod Touch 4th gen, and like it very much. However, I need some instruction and don't know where to find it. How does one 'train' it for certain words and names? I have an uncommon name that is similar to one found in Dragon's 'dictionary(?)' but spelled differently - how can I get it to always use my spelling instead of the default? I always replace the text with my spelling (which it now suggests when I select the text), but it does not ever use that spelling unless I replace it.
What does it mean when a dictated word is underlined in red?
What is the purpose of the light blue word suggestion that pops up? If I try to select it, it just goes away. It is different from the dark blue list which does let me select a particular word.
If I replace text that was dictated, does Dragon 'train' itself to match that with my audio for that word?
Great product, but I don't know where to find answers for things like this.

Here you go.  This should help.  I love it, too.  There's also an "I" in the bottom right on the screen in Dragon with some basic commands.
I still can't believe it's free!  Great app!

I have Dragon Dictate but did not notice until now that the earphone jack is only for listening so I cannot dictate using headphones and the mic on the computer is not good enough for that. A friend gave me a USB card that says 3D Sound on top; it is  a plastic case, charcoal gray in color and side jacks to connect headphone and mic. Connected to computer but it does not do a thing. Any ideas on how to make it work?

You are not supposed to connect a pair of speakers(as in left and right in a stereo pair)to two separate out jacks on the sound card.the place on the card where headphones/speakers with the mini jack goes is the right place.

  • How many songs can you put in an Ipod touch 64GB if you only use it for music?

I've heard the Ipod classic 160GB is discontinued. Could someone tell me how many songs you can put in the Ipod touch 64GB if you exclusively use it for music and don't put any photos, videos or anything?

I just did some quick figuring. There are a lot of variables. My 64gb 5th gen touch has only 56.6gb capacity so says the unit. Settings>General>About.
MP3 formatted songs vary greatly. I quickly perused my collection and found that the size varied from 3-7MB per song. Using the average of 4MB per song,(7MB is a rather large file for MP3) you will come up with 56.6 X 1024MB (1024 MB per 1GB) =57958MB/4 =14489 songs. This will probably never happen as there is cover artwork and different variables because of file size to consider. This gives you an Idea where to start.

  • IPod Touch 64GB activated October 2013 - how do I get the free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps?

I purchased (from an authorised seller - Dixons Duty Free, Heathrow) and activated an iPod Touch 64GB on 18th October 2013 (prior to the announcement of free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps but after the 1st Sepember 2013 date in their conditions). It had iOS6 preinstalled. I've updated to iOS7. How do I get the free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps? The App Store is trying to charge me for theese.

Problem solved from information found in another thread....
If your iOS device was activated for the first time after September 1, go to the App Storeon your iPod which should open to Featured. If not, tap on Featured at the lower left of the screen & scroll down to Collections & tap on New to the App Store? then scroll down to Apps Made by Apple & tap. You should now see the iWork & iLife apps as "FREE."

  • IBooks on iOS4 3rd gen iPod touch 64GB - crash causing reset

I'm not sure if others have experienced the problem but I've been using iBooks and I'm finding that the device randomly resets while in use.
The problem is not connected to a particular ebook or PDF, it seems to happen randomly - even a couple of times while browsing the bookshelf. I have approximately 300 books and PDFs installed.

  • I bought dragon dictate with my mac pro. NO DVD DRIVE.. now what do i do?

Can I return it and just get the dragon express in apps? My mom got this Mac book for school and I am paralyzed. I need a talk to text app. She bought the Dragon and we did not know the mac did not have a dvd drive (this is my first mac) PLEASE HELP. CAn we return the dragon dictate?

    You have a couple options.
Depending on where and when you purchased the Dragon software, they will possibly, even likely, allow you to return the software if it is unopened.  If you've already opened the packaging, it will obviously be more difficult to return.  In that case, you might try reaching out to the folks at Dragon and explaining the situation.  If they use license/activation numbers, it should be pretty easy for you to prove to them you haven't activated the software, and they might swap it or offer a refund.
Another option is to use an external DVD drive to install the software.  You could purchase such a device (newegg.com, amazon.com, apple.com).  Or, a better option would be to visit an Apple store, and ask them to install the software for you.  That won't cost you a dime.
Don't fret!  There are plenty of good solutions available to you.  Good luck!

  • A different error every time I sync my iPod Touch 64GB

I have an iPod Touch 64GB. After iOS4 upgrade and iTunes update, at least half of the times I connect it to my pc (Windows 7 64bit) some error comes up like, the ipod is disconnected (when it's not), a duplicate file has been created, the requested file cannot be found, error -48, error -64... you name it.
When this happens, I get a screen asking if I want to set it up as a new iPod, or if I want to restore from backup. If I select restore from backup, it tries to, takes an hour and then some error pops up, forcing me to set it up as a new iPod, which takes another hour.
A few days ago I decided I'd had it and restored it completely to factory settings, losing all my information (remember it never can restore from backup?) in the hopes that it would make it function normally again. Until last night... when I tried syncing again and again the errors, and having to set it up as a new iPod.
I've read many posts here, about deleting iPod Photo Cache and other solutions, none of them work. My iPod is NOT jailbroken, nor do I use any iToner or any other plug-in or weird non-Apple application to tweak it somehow...
    Any answers?
    Any suggestions?
How do I avoid having to set up my iPod as new every time I plug it to my pc?

Ok, so I tried syncing again, again the myriad of errors, one pop up after the next, you know the drill. At last, I set up the iPod as new iPod and when I did that it leaves it as having to sync all podcasts, iTunesU, photos, contacts, calendar, as new. But before I did that, a new pop up, an update for the iPod software version 4.0.2 (8A400). I updated the iPod and then checked all the boxes to sync all my content... so far, it's working. I'm hopeful that this update will fix the problems. If not, then I think I'll have to take it back to claim the warranty. Cause I don't see what else to do. I'll be back here with news.

  • Using Dragon Dictate with Pocketcloud

We use Pocketcloud to access our terminal server. Specifically our attorneys do a lot of work inside the connection in Outlook and our Case Management software. We are trying to use Dragon Dictate to Dictate notes and emails and copy and paste to the applications within Pocketcloud. We cannot get anything to paste into apps within Pocketcloud. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I have ordered Dragon Dictate so have not tried it yet. But I see from the demo that you can give commands like File>new. So I wondered if in FCE one could speak, File>export> Quicktime etc? Anything to save the old wrist.
Actually I am experimenting using my left hand on the mouse. sure does slow down and frustrate the use of FCE!

  • Maverick Dictation-  or Dragon dictate-Which is better?

I've used Dragon dictate products since 2005 on PC's and then Macs. I want to know any advantages in switching to Maverick Dictation. Please advise.

I have been using Dragon Dictate for some time.  The initial training took about half an hour, after which it had a very high accuracy rate in recognizing my own voice.  I appreciated being able to specify the accent of which English I was speaking -- North American mid north continent -- or something like that.  It got pretty close to the general accent of English as spoken in Manitoba, and the voice training seemed to round out the fine details.  It did not train for slang expressions, such as our habit of ending many phrases with "eh?", but I suppose I could train it to do so, eh?
I liked that Dragon Dictate did not have to go back to a central server somewhere every time I wanted to use it.  As I recall, it gave me an 'enhanced" option similar to the Mavericks option.
I am still learning how to enter the command mode and easily switch back and forth between dictate mode and command mode.  The dictation is very easy.  The commands take a significant learning curve.
I appreciate also that I can dictate text into almost any app, document, spreadsheet, web page, and so on.  I had a lot of typing to do (and I type about 80 words a minute), and decided that I needed to learn to use my voice to dictate text, in addition to simply typing.  I talk slightly faster than I can type.  Being naturally long-winded, dictating text fills up more space than typing words.
I will be testing Mavericks Dictate in the near future to get a better idea of how the two compare.

  • Is the iPod touch 64gb suppose to store 14,000 songs

Is the iPod touch 64gb suppose to store 14,000 songs

Yes but that assumes standard length and 128k kbps compression. To get this compression go to the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes and check the box that says Convert higher bitrate songs to XX kbps ACC. Select 12k or a higher one for less compression/less songs or lower one for more songs and some loss in quality.
The specs for the 3G iPod (the number of songs is not given in the 4G and 5G specs)
    32GB or 64GB flash drive2
Holds up to 7,000 or 14,000 songs in 128-Kbps AAC format3
