Drain battery in ios 8.1.1 for 5s and ipad2

battery very fast drain in ios 8.1.1 for iphone 5s and ipad 2 piease help

First, did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, after you updated to 8.1.1?
If yes, try to set it up as new device, explained in this article:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Try not to use the backup at first after the software has been restored, in case the backup contained damaged files that caused your battery drain.
If the battery life is back to normal, restore from the backup and see if ti stays that way. If the problem comes back, you'll have to start again without
using the backup.

On 6.1.3/6 it never did this , also on every iOS 7 verison , my iPod battery percent counter become less accerate
It moving up and down everytime on 6.1.3/6 it never did this

% battery on an iPod is not accurate. Apple does not provide that display. Fluctuatios in % battery are normal with load changes.
    For the lag:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • What IOS do I need for SSH and VPN

    Greetings,
I am not a Cisco expert but can muddle my way thru configurations. I have inherited my position from someone else who setup our VPN infrastructure long ago. Problem is that we have added a new location and I have been asked to add it to our VPN. I found a spare 2610 in the equipment closet with IOS Version 12.2(24) which is a higher version than some of the other working VPN routers in the field. I am basically using the other VPN router configs as a template but when I issue the command "crypto", it does not recognize it. Nor does it recognize the command "ip ssh". So the questions are, do I have to get an updated IOS? If this IOS is ok, do I need an add-on VPN pack? If yes to either one, how do I get it? - Thanks.
    Don

So if I do a "show ver" on the router I am having trouble with, I see:
IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-IO3-M), Version 12.2(24), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
On one of the working VPN routers I see:
IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-IK9O3S3-M), Version 12.2(15)T14, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4)
So I see the K9 in the IOS version of the working router. Thanks for that part of the puzzle.
Now my question is, how do I get that IOS?
    Don

  • IOS 8 SEVERELY draining battery on iPhone 5

Is there any way to fix it??
My Home/Lock screen racks up 47% of my battery usage since updating, while the background/app refresh, location services, and other features that drained battery in iOS 7 are turned off.
My battery has gone down by 5% within just 10 minutes of my phone sitting there, having absolutely nothing done to it.
Whenever I click the home button after about a minute or so, it goes down by a percent (sometimes two).
So my phone isn't even going to last me an hour of usage after this "upgrade"?

As much as I love getting a new gadget, I respect our environment more. So I'm holding on to my iPhone 5, 16GB because it's worked so well for the last 2 years and is still going strong. I charge it every night and at the end of the day I usually have 20% battery left. But that was before the iOS 8.0.2 update...
Now my phone lasts 4 hours and over heats. It died 3 times yesterday with normal use. The only variable is iOS 8.0.2
I looked up forums and found "tips" that are more like work-arounds. I tried resetting all settings which didn't work. All it did was give me annoying settings like 2 reminders for one SMS, location services off, and I lost my favourite lock screen photo of my two children (even though it said "no data or media will be lost"  ).
I checked the settings for apps that are using most battery. Phone and lock screen are the top two. Lock screen?? Seriously??
I remembered that when I use GPS apps (ie. TomTom or Google Maps), the phone (just feels like any other "phone" now without the "i") would heat up in the same way it does now. So I snooped and found a little switch hidden deep, deep down in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services (scrolled down to the very, very bottom) and there was a switch for Status Bar Icon. I turned this ON and paid attention. It would turn on by itself on the lock screen. I thought that maybe Siri is using it? So I went into Settings > Privacy > Location Services and turned Siri's location access OFF.
The phone cooled down almost instantly. I'm charging it now and will update below on how I go, if anyone's interested...
Let me know how you go with this?

  • Completely Drained Battery Charging

Hi all, I recently purchased a used 20 gb, 4G Ipod on ebay, it had a replacement battery installed, but the seller said it needed to be charged before use.
I tried everything to get it to charge with a USB 2.0 connection (the same cable and computer that charges my Ipod mini 2nd gen just fine) but no luck. I tried a DC car charger as well to no avail. The Ipod shows no icons at all and the PC doesn't recognize it, I tried resetting it as well but no good.
I talked with the seller and he told me neither the USB nor the DC charger had enough power to charge a completely drained battery. He suggested an AC Wall charger instead, which unfortunatly I don't have.
My question then, would an AC wall charger likely work better at charging a completely drained battery? I'm probably going to try and get one to try at least, if not just buy one, but I'd like some idea of the chances that he's right about needing it to charge the Ipod.
    Thanks for any assistance

Sounds like you got ripped off.

  • IOS 6.1.2 for iPhone 4s draining battery?

I downloaded iOS 6.1.2 for my iPhone 4s a few days ago when my phone told me it was time to update. Now all I get is 17 minutes of usage and 6 hours of standby when I used to get at least 18 hours of standby and 6 hours of usage before my phone needed a charge. This is very frustrating. My phone is 8 months old. I don't use mail on it. I've seen some people have problems with mail being the reason why their battery drains. I lock my phone when I'm done using it, I have the brightness down, I go through and delete background activity every couple days. This shouldn't be happening. Does anyone else have this problem and has anything fixed it?

  • After the latest iOS update (8.1.2) my battery drains in 4-5 hours, on standby (5S 16gb) - and I'm not the only one

    Hello,
Since the latest update, my iPhone 5S's battery life has decreased significantly.
In the past, I've never ran into any issues. I have my 5S for over an year now.
Prior to the 8.1.2 update, a full battery lasted for about 24h (usage time >= 4h) to 50-60 hrs (on standby, no usage).
However, after updating, I can see my battery decrease in an alert mode ( about 2-3 % every 3-4 minutes, even on standby).
I've tried all the solutions possible, including but not limited to:
    - downgrading to iOS 8.1.1 (I managed to do it, because Apple is still signing the IPSW files). - didn't work, no improvement
    - restoring and updating again to 8.1.2 , starting from scratch (I've backed up all my stuff first, restored, updated, set iphone as 'new' , didn't put my data back on) - didn't work, no improvement
I've also chatted with the tech support today and they diagnosed my device, saying:
    Quoting support operator:
"Good news, it seems that everything for the hardware side —WiFi, Cellular, and Battery is looking beautiful! That is awesome! Some of the software though does seem to be affecting some things I do see. So, we have found out what the cause is. Next step is getting it taken care of so it doesn’t continue. I want to make sure you don’t have to keep worrying about your battery life."
The only fix they offered was restoring and updating to the latest version, 8.1.2 , again. I've told them I've already tried it, but I thought to give it another try. Unsuccessful again, battery still draining quickly.
I've discussed with another operator about 7 hours later, describing my problem and also told them other users experience this issue too:
Iphone iOS 8.1.2 battery drain remains
No iOS 8 Battery Drain Problems Until iOS 8.1.2
These are only two topics I've found on apple support forums, but many others are experiencing this too.
The technical support employee told me that Apple didn't yet discover this bug and if they do (on a large scale) they will issue an update, or a fix.
That's why I ask you all who have this issue to come and post here, to let Apple know we want our devices to work normally again.
I can't use my iphone if, it drains 100% of battery in 5-6 hours without abnormal usage time!! I also don't think it's healthy for the battery to recharge it 2-3 times a day.
Something needs to be done. I regret every day my decision to update to this version of iOS . I will never update again prior to reading other users' experince on the update.
    Please, Apple, do something!
Oh, and by the way, I would go to a service to have this looked into by a specialist, but in my country (and I'm sure there are other countries too) there aren't any Apple services , only shops. And I can't risk taking my phone to a local GSM repair shop, I don't trust them.
    Hoping for the best,

I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

  • My iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4 still gets hot and drains battery with everything but cellular turned off.  What to do?

Have a new iPhone bought in late July 2013.  It had zero heating issues and battery issues until the past week (Nov. 2013).  Now, the iPhone gets hot to the touch and the battery drains within 2 to 3 hours, EVEN AFTER I HAVE DISABLED ALMOST EVERY FEATURE OF THE iPHONE.
This iPhone has iOS 7.0.4, installed within last 36 hours.  I then erased the entire iPhone and restarted it as a New iPhone.  Then I went in and turned off everything in the way of Settings that permit disabling.  All notifications, spotlight searches, application updating, accessibility features, push features, location services, etc. were turned off or disabled.  Brightness is set to Auto.  Don't use the iCloud.
After doing all of that, which essentially rendered this iPhone just a clunky old cell phone, not even using WiFi, I connected to iTunes on my computer and restored my backed up apps, photos.
After the Restore, I went back into settings and made certain that, again, all notifications, app services, location services, updatings, etc. were disabled, still.
    The problem persists.
It seems the only solution is to get rid of all my Apps and never use WiFi, or iCloud, or Mail.  That is unacceptable.
Does anyone have a solution, besides my calling on the warranty on this phone?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

I dont know what to do now. I have lots of contacts, and the only way to get them is through gmail...please help

The issue is probably specific to your iPhone:
Something may have gone amiss in the upgrade to iOS 6.1.3 on your iPhone.
To correct this follow these steps:
Backup your iPhone using iTunes or iCloud.
Use iTunes to completely restore your iPhone as new.
Setup your iPhone and monitor battery usage to see if it is normal. If not, you may have a hardware problem - if so, contact Apple support.
Restore your iPhone from your backup above.
Check battery usage to confirm that it remains normal.
