DRAM Frequency 400 (1:1)?

I have 2*512 MB DDR RAM Dual Channel PC4000 EL OCZ with MSI 865PE Neo2-
I have followed OCZ recommended settings for MSI 865PE Neo2,OCZ recommendations but when I set DDR frequency to 400 I get graphical problems in certain 3d games (flickering menus in Neverwinter Nights).  .
If I set DRAM frequency to 333 (5:4 CPU/DRAM ratio?) the problems go away. My FSB is currently at 240 Mhz. I have a 2,6 P4.
Shouldn't my memory be able to work in DRAM Frequency 400 (1:1)?

OK.. :-D)Now I see where you typed OCZ 4000 RAM...But as you can see We dont always look at the Serial Number and we BOTH read your POST wrong,..It would be better when you are Talking about RAM speed to Double List the Specs.  ie PC-4000 (DDR-500), as that is what I try to do in most Threads, as you can see, it is easy to misread (add another 0 ) and now we are all on the wrong Page .....Well now that we are on the SAME Page ..Your Memory should be able to reach Speeds of FSB=240X2=480 MHZ, But you most definitely Have it Set to "AUTO" instead of 400 MHZ in the "RAM Frequency" Option, as with it set to "Auto" the Chipset(BIOS) looks to the Modules SPD for the Speed that the Module is Rated for .....And if you still cant reach 240 FSB with it set to "Auto" Try Setting the Memory Timings to Speed and Your PAT to Slow.................Sean REILLY875

  • 648 and Dram Frequency

I just recently bought my msi 648 and i love it, but theres one thing I'm not sure about. In the Frequency/Voltage Control section in bios, the Dram Frequency reads "133".I have DDR266, shouldnt it read 266 instead of 133? I set it to 266 and rebooted, but unfortuantly my puter didnt reboot untill I cleared cmos =\. If anyone out there has the same board and experienced the same problem, tell me how you fixed it  8)  My rig is below, thanks guys   )
btw i have 2 512 sticks of ram.
also if this helps, sis sandra 2003 mem test results were 2028 on both Int and Float buffer, shouldnt they be a littler higher then that =\

Your memory is running fine at 133 Mhz. It is 266 Mhz DDR(Double data rate). So the 133 Mhz that is shows in the bios is effectively running at 266 Mhz. You double the number of Mhz it shows there. So when you tried to do 266, it tried to do 266 X 2 and that is 532 Mhz. No DDR is up to that speed yet.

  • Blocked dram frequency - 865P neo

    Hi
I have one problem my dram fraquency is blocked in bios. it is set up at 400Mhz and i can't change it :(
    I have msi 865P Neo and 2x256 DDR 400 (PC 3200) (dual)
Do you know what i should to to change it ??

    "400" is what's greyed out
    Configure Dram Timing by SPD:
both options doesn't change this situation.
when is disable is block and when enable is the same.
    Come on garthol,
Please help yourself by reading through your own products specs, if you think that I'm not of any help. If you are saying that you want to set to 400MHz manually earlier, then we'll know what you want.
The thing is, this board is running on the old ICH5 chipset and does not have native DDR400MHz support. All you can do to acheive DDR 400MHz speed is by overclocking, nothing else.
    Please read product page: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=542&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=

The limitation is caused by your processor.

  • DRAM frequency locked?

I purchased a pair of kingston hyperx 3000 with hopes of a high 1:1 overclock but to my dismay, when i choose ddr400 it still says ddr333 i a greyed-out area below    Also when i use cpu-z it always says the ratio is 5:4.  Because of this (i think) my sandra memory bandwidth is only a little over 4000.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Do you really mean 4000? Do you have voltage set to 2.7 or 2.8?

Thanks guys for the replies.  Yes, you are right, I was hoping specifically for the 865PE-NEO2-LS board, and see no responses.  At this point, hopefully my 3.4 Northwood should be here today or tomorrow.  On this board, I just could not get past 3.1 Ghz with my 2.8, and it seems as soon as I started creeping towards the FSB of 230, things really went wacky/unstable.  No matter if I raised the voltages, loosened memory timings, etc.   But having said that, CONGRATS to you guys for getting your 2.8s juiced up - I wish I had better luck!
Obviously, my next question would be is how well does the 3.4 Ghz Northwood O/C - isn't the ceiling about 4Ghz?

    Enermax EG475P 470W PSU(+3.3V = 34A, +5V = 40A, +12V = 33A)
I've done quite a bit to my video card in the past few weeks:  replaced the stock ATI cooling with a VGA Silencer, flashed my Pro to XT status, and overclocked it mildly.
Just a few days ago I replaced the boxed CPU cooler with a Thermaltake Spark 7+ Xaser Edition A1715 CPU Cooler.  Here's where I ran into my first snag:  It didn't reduce my temperatures much.  At idle my Prescott 2.8 ran at 48 or 49C with the box cooler, and runs exactly the same under load.  However, with the stock cooler under load it would get all the way up to 69-71, whereas with this new cooler it only reaches 65-67.  Still not what I was expecting with this cooler though.
I decided to delve into a bit of CPU overclocking.  I increased the FSB 1MHz at a time, testing after each increase.
Except, I didn't get very far.  I was using Call of Duty multiplayer to test, and I get visual errors starting at 203MHz.  They're thin vertical white lines that flash for a second and then disappear.  Also jagged polygons strewn throughout the screen, usually white or a pale color.  When I clock back down to 202MHz, they disappear.
Using CPU-Z I get these values for my RAM modules:
    http://mywebpage.netscape.com/ISBop/cpuz1.JPG
In case that picture doesn't work, they are:
    FSB:DRAM = 1:1
    CAS Latency = 3.0 clocks
RAS to CAS = 3 clocks
    RAS Precharge = 3 clocks
    Cycle Time = 3 clocks
Bank Cycle Time, DRAM Idle Timer, Total CAS, and Row To Column are all blank and greyed out.
I know that increasing the FSB also increases the memory frequency, so basically I'm trying to figure out if these artifacts are caused by the CPU or the memory.  My CPU cooler has manual fan control and when the system is under load I run the fan at high speed, and the temperatures aren't getting that high, so it doesn't seem like the CPU is the problem.
I looked around for specific information about my RAM modules' overclocking abilities, but found little.  I found the datasheet for my memory here(PDF format).  I was thinking that maybe tightening the timings would enable me to push up my FSB higher.  202 as a limit is a little disappointing, to say the least.
My BIOS settings are as follows:
    Performance Mode = Turbo(MAT)
    DOT = Disabled
    CPU Ratio Selection = Locked
    DRAM Frequency = 400
    Spread Spectrum = Enabled
    CPU Bus Clock = 202
    DDR Clock = 404
    AGP/PCI Clock = 66.66/33.33
    CPU Voltage = 1.3875
    DDR Voltage = 2.60
    AGP Voltage = 1.65V
    System Readings:
    System Temperature = 35C
    Vcore:
    3.3V = 3.184 - 3.248
    5.0V = 5.088 - 5.167
    12.0V = 12.081 - 12.408

what does 202 do for you?  I mean I'm at 220.
    RE the software?
What drivers?  You mean graphics drivers?  Different drivers haven't made a difference in any game.  The artifacts appear once I clock to 203.
I don't know if I have the RAM set correctly.  I was posting here to find that out.
By card voltage I assume you mean AGP voltage.  Its at 2.65V.  Vcore is at the lowest setting, 1.3875.  I tried 1.4000 and 1.4150 but neither affected the overclocking ability either way.  Still produced artifacts at 203.
How did you get to 220?  What happened when you went higher than that?

Of course you should try turbo and ultra turbo and faster D.O.T. settings, but I'm taking a guess as to what would work best for you with stability and performance balanced.  Post your results or any problems.
thanks (Into Eternity )  your motherboard is different to mine most of the settings would be the same except my bios doesnt have performance mode /IE captain etc
little more info the MSI 865PE-LS setting would still good

  • Ide 3 Raid

Im all new to this and have just purchased  a 200GB drive for storage only. I have set up RAID and the Promise bios has dtected the drive but Windows XP Pro will not display the drive in MY COMPUTER. Have I done something wrong. Please help.

    Ok Shane,
    Here's the deal currently.
    Your FSB is 133 MHz
The maximum positive ratio your motherboard allows is FSB 4:5 Memory.
So your memory is running at 166 Mhz (or DDR333 or PC2700)
This is why CPU-Z reports it as such. It may still work at DDR400 we will try to find out.
If you wish to force your memory to work at DDR400 while maintaining a 133 MHz FSB, it should be possible as per Danny's link.
In Bios just set DRAM Frequency: 400 MHz and this sjould do it.
If you want the absolute maximum performance you can get then you'll have to overclock.
You have the fastest 533 MHz FSB P4 series B processor available. You are not likely to have a huge overclocking overhead on this, so don't get your hopes up too high.
    Things to try:-
    In BIOS
    Frequency/Voltage Control
    Dynamic Overclocking: Disabled
    Performance Mode: Slow
    CPU Ratio Selection: Locked
    DRAM Frequency: Auto
    Spread Spectrum: Disabled
Adjust CPU Bus Clock (Mhz): 133
    DDR Clock(Mhz): 333 (Greyed out)
    Adjust AGP/PCI Clock(Mhz): 66.66/33.33
    CPU Vcore Adjust: No
     CPU Vcore: 1.5250V (Greyed Out)
    DDR Power Voltage: 2.70V
    AGP Power Voltage: 1.55V
If you had to change Performance Mode to Slow, you will have to Save and Exit and then re-enter BIOS for all the following options to be available. If it was already Slow move straight to
    Advanced Chipset Features
    DRAM Timing Setting
Configure DRAM Timing by SPD: Disabled
    CAS Latency: 3 Clocks
    RAS Precharge: 4 Clocks
RAS to CAS Delay: 8 Clocks
    Burst Length: 4 Clocks
    Integrity Mode: Disabled
With these settings we can start to overclock your system. SLOWLY increase the FSB (CPU Bus Clock) in increments of 5. Save and Exit. Test memory with MemTest. Boot into Windows and stress test (prime95). Once you start to get errors, back off 2 or 3 MHz.
ALL OVERCLOCKING CARRIES A RISK OF COMPONENT DAMAGE OR FAILURE!!!
IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE IT, DON'T DO IT.
If you do decide to try it, let us know how far you get, we can advise on further optimisation.
Hope this helps a little. Good Luck.

  • New PSU, strange DDR msg

Ok guys you might remember me i had a prob, my P.C use to freeze all the time, anyway you suggested i get a new PSU which i did, this one : http://www.pch.co.il/docs/pd-695320562.htm , which is a huge monster of a PSU, anyway, at first start after installing it i had a strage massage about DDR timing being too somthing (cant rem the word), anyway i think the sweet Bios did what it did and fixed it, i think i might be a problem resulting due the volt change from my old Everpower 350 psu to this one, what do you think?

    If your running stock and no OC, try these ramsettings in bios;
    "Advanced Chipset Features" menu :
Dram timing setting to SPD ( which also show you ram stocktimings)
    "Frequency/Voltage" menu -
    Performance - Normal
    DOT - Disabled
Dram frequency - 400 (or auto if 400 does not help)
    Spread Spectrum - disabled

  • Memory Frequency-DRAM Clock (MHz)

Hi, I have a 875P Neo LSR with a P4 2.4GHz C 800MHz and 512 MB(1) Corsair XMS3200 OEM. The memory defaults to PC2700 as it was made befor the JDEC value was official. When I set the DRAM Frequency to 200MHz and reboot it stays at 200 MHz but the DRAM Clock (MHz) says it's at 333 (166MHz). So what is it running at?

Ok, there's many issues before when the PC3200s are out and many lab tests have proven that most 1st gen PC3200s are an o/c version of PC2700 unfortunately... Since what you have here is an OEM type, I dare not say much nor prove anything against it as there's no known date of production etc... to prove it's age...
If your CPU is a FSB800 (just to confirm again, no offence), it should support any true PC3200s compatible RAMs to the mobo without sweat. My suggestion is that to try borrowing any compatible PC3200 RAMs to the mobo and test it out. If the RAM was detected correctly as DDR400 in both DRAM and DDR Clock, then it'll prove what I've say above .

  • B75A-G43 low memory frequency

I have bough MSI B75A-G43 motherboard and four AMD AE34G1609U2-U memory modules (built by Patriot). In BIOS each of modules frequency shown as 1600, but memory frequency set to 1333, and no option 1600 provided in menu.
I have updated BIOS to latest version, but no success.
Is there some way to set memory frequency to 1600?

I see that, that is because it is AMD memory designed for AMD systems.
You will need to manually set the speed and timings although it SHOULD work even though it is not ment for intel.
Do you need help with this?
How to manually set the memory to it's spec (as stated on thier website)
    Enter UEFI/Bios
    Click OC
Goto DRAM FREQUENCY: AUTO  and change this to 1600
(At this point you can try to save and exit, but i prefer to set the timings manually.)
    Next:
Change the Dram Timing Mode to either Link or Unlink either one will work.
    Click on advanced dram configuration
    Set the timings as follows:
    tCL: 9
    tRCD:9
    tRP:9
    tRAS:24
    save and exit
It is possible that these settings will not work, if your system won't boot after doing this, you will need to clear the cmos and start over.

  • DRAM wound too tight??????? Neo 865PE Board Advice needed

    RapidShare Account-ID: 14334524
    Password: QfYkRMdt
First - My computer is normally rock solid with no problems.
I turned my computer on today and it would not even boot to the BIOS.
It was if there was no power going into it but then it started to boot for about 1 second
then died. I tried again and the same thing kept happening.
I opened it up, checked the Main Board, reseated the graphics card and power cables.
This time it booted but before the bios kicked in it gave the following message:
    'DRAM is wound too tight'.
I have not changed anything in the BIOS as I would not know what to change but
it then booted to the BIOS and under the power settings it says the following:
    Dynamic Over Clocking       = Private
    Performance Mode            = Slow
    CPU Ratio Selection         = Locked
    DRAM Frequency              = Auto
    Spread Spectrum             = Disabled
    Adjust CPU Bus Clock(mhz)   = 200
    DDR Clock (mhz)             = 333
    Adjust AGP/PCI Clock (mhz)  = 66.66/33.33
    CPU VCORE Adjust            = No
    DDR Power Voltage           = 2.50v
    ?GP Power Voltage           = 1.50v
If anyone can make any suggestions I would be most appreciative as I cannot
afford to loose my computer or any data that is on it.
I'm worried that the Main Board maybe failing or maybe the RAM or PSU?
In case it matters this is what is in my system.
    MSI Neo 865PE Board
    AMIBIOS V3.31a

Power Supply = Q-Tec 550 Watt Dual Fan Gold
    USB Mouse/Keyboard
All housed in a 19" Rack Mount Server case.
    Thanks in advance.

    thanks for the replys everyone.
I take it then that my problem is the PSU?
I am shocked that you rate the Q-Tec one so badly, it is the one that was supplied
with my computer and has worked with out a problem for about 3 years or so now.
I cant take a chance with it so its going in the bin.
Having done some checking I have located a trusted stockest who has
Corsair VX 550W ATX Power Supply (CMPSU-550VXUK) [CMPSU-550VXUK]
    or
Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) [CMPSU-650TXUK]
for just ubder £80 in the UK.
Are either of these any good and is one better for me than the other considering what
main board I have. Also the new CPU has got to fit in my computer case so its physical size must match the old one.
I am not a modder so this is all a bit alien to me so any tips or hints much appreciated.
    Thanks again
    Kenny
