I have a 1760 router with 96MB DRAM. Is there a way I can find out, without opening the router up, (1) how many slots there are for installing DRAM; and (2) which of the slots are occupied with DRAM and which are free?

You can have max of 128MB in both 1760 and 1760V models by default 1760V comes with 96MB.
I dont think its possible to view the DRAM slots or free slots available for use..

I think with 1760, only one DIMM slot is available and in ur router, it is fixed with 64 MB RAM.This router already has 32MB on board by default; plus the 64Mb DIMM; total 96Mb.SO, to upgrade u may have to remove that 64MB and replae it with the memory size u want. But as of now, there is not any command that will tell you which banks or slota are filled for dram. They are looking into implamenting this in future ios's. But as of now there is no command.

Macbook Pro crashed after express slot usage. MBP will not startup.

My Macbook Pro (MBP) 17" core2duo 2.8Ghz. Snow Leopard OSX10.6.3.
I use my MBP's Express card slot to transfer SxS video cards, and sometimes connect to eSata drives.
With each usage it seems to be unstable. Often when trying to eject card or adaptor it crashes showing a, turn off and restart computer message.
So I would restart computer, and I continue on. I was kind of used to this,,,
But this time around, my system did not start up after the reboot. It showed a "non-smoking sign without the cigarette" Sorry I don't know what you calll these. I think it means can't find system folder?
I hope someone can point me to a fix.
I did a PRam reset about 3 times. but no change.
I did a safe boot, and ran disk utility permissions and there were pleanty of wrong permissions... So I fixed that twice, the same permissions seemed to be wrong again. I don't know if it really fixed anything...
And I also tried to set startup disk to the internal hard disk. I don't know if that really made a difference...
I then relaunched it as a disk drive to read it on another mac, and ran disk utilities and it reported nothing is wrong with this disk...
Will reverting back to a time machine save do anything? Might give it a try.
I remember way back when I bought this MBP, One of the first trial with the SxS gave me the same "non-" sign on startup, that I fixed. So I know there is a fix, I just couldn't find it on the forum.
I hope I get my MBP running soon!

Correct.
Solutions:
Disconnect all peripherals. Start the computer with the Option key pressed. After a few seconds you will see the availale bootable systems. select with the arrow keys and press Return. If you can get the OS to load, go here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399. Download and install the combo Update.. Restart as normal. -

But when I came to put the 2nd DRAM in the empty slot it would not go in and when I looked carefully I could clearly see that the plastic ribbon which ejects DRAM in slot 2 was installed so as to prevent installation- it is attched so that it lies across the contacts! looks like a manufacuring error to me- has anyone else had the problem and how did you solve it? Any suggestions?

Quicksilver Dual 1GHz PCI Slot Usage
I just purchased this QS off eBay, and have developed the following configuration under OS X 10.3.9:
Slot 1 GeForce4 MX
Slot 2 ATTO ExpressPCIProUL3d with 50GB Seagate
Slot 3 Sonnet Tango FW/USB
Slot 4 M-Audio 2496
Slot 5 Sonnet ATA100 with a Maxtor 60GB attached
I'm running the OS and most applications off a Seagate pATA 120GB attached to the motherboard ATA channel. It is new and of the 7200.9 model.
Is this an optimal arrangement? or does it matter?
Heatwise, the 50GB drive is warmer (and thicker) than the others, so I put it into the middle floor bay. It is an SCA type and has an adapter on it, which makes it close when the door is closed ... close to the main set of powercables that are bundled together towards the middle, and plugged into the motherboard. Maybe too close?
The ATA cable to the Maxtor and the SCSI cable to the Seagate SCA are clothes-pinned separately to neaten the cabling.
Any comments?
One additional observation: My external power light has 2+ levels of brightness as I power up the QS ... is this normal? or am I taxing the power supply (or is this a sign of a weak power supply)?

[VIA Series] PT880 Neo - 2 dead PCI slots?
Scanning through the forums, I didn't see anything relevant so here goes.
I bought my board not too long ago and have been slowly adding peripherals to my system. I try to spread things out when choosing a PCI slot for a new card. Well, looking at my sig, I have discovered that two of my PCI slots are dead.
When I say dead, I mean that I'll install a card there (previously never installed), boot up to Windows, and wait for the Found New Hardware dialog. I think that this is slightly broken, so I go to the Device Manager and none of my new items show up with uninstalled or installed drivers. I crack my case, move the card to one of the working slots, and everything is dandy.
For the record, I refer to PCI 1 as the closest PCI slot to the AGP slot (most central physically on the motherboard). Inheritently, PCI 5 is the slot closest to the corner of the motherboard. I am having problems with slots 2 and 3.
I am hoping that there is a dip switch or a rule similar to memory slot usage that will fix this problem. I have not found a solution yet and am hoping that someone here can help.

Graphics driver has stopped and recovered
While playing Max Payne 3, Bf3, Far Cry 3 and War Thunder I encounter crashes (After around 40-60 min) with the "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message. I have been monitoring the temps of my motherboard, gpu and cpu and none are exceeding excessive temperatures. My GPU temps maxes out at 75 c under full load 60 min ingame.
It only seems to crash when playing DX10/1X games. Been palying Arma 2 for hours and hours online and never had any problems. Same with source games.
Now the strange strange part. When I play the games in Windowed mode I never encounter these problems.
Anyone had this fixed?

Premier Pro CS4 crashes on launch
When I start Premier Pro I get the dialog box with New or Open existing project.
When I select New the dialog box disappears and the program hangs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times including removing use folders.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start looking to diagnose the problem?

I can now give my system spec - summary first then the details as they're rather long.
Gigabyte P55-UD5 motherboard; i5 CPU, 4Gb RAM; 3HDD + 1 SSD.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 loaded on one HDD and on the SSD.
Premier Pro worked OK running on the HDD but not after installing SSD.
Now, even when I disconnect the SSD, Premier Pro doesn't run.
This probably means it's not the SSD as it still doesn't work when it's powered down.
I get the option to "create new" and "open existing"...
If I "open existing" I can search for projects (except I don't have any)
If I "create new", then PP crashes.
I have all the latest Win 7 patches and the latest nVidia card drivers.
Running 1024x768 at 32 bit colour.
I've also run the routines suggested by John T Smith (thanks very much John)
So far no difference.
Is there a logging routine that can be enabled to see what's crashing at the point of failure?

PC Shutting down after gaming help!
ok so I have build a gaming tower and ever since its been done if i play a game that is demanding with graphics my pc shuts down. I have noticed it does it around 33C but I doubt that is the issue since i have liquid cooling. I'm finally taking the plunge

845e ht ready and pc 2100 200/266 mhz 256 mb memmory module(s)
Hi all i am experiencing this problem on all my mainboards as described in the title, here it is:
Bios recognizes only 128 Mb of Ram no matter if they are 1 or 2 (same kind of modules), i tried BIOS update too.
The weird thing it's that it's happening on all my mainboards of this kind but when i'm trying the same memory modules on MSI VIA chipset based mainboards it all works fine.

I have a Power Macintosh 7200/90 that I got on EBay I am upgrading the Ram on it, I opened up the case last night to see what was inside if there were any empty slots. There are 4 stick 2 look like normal ram but the other 2 I discovered this morning as I was looking on eBay look like VRAM DIMM, they are very thick and look like a picture that I found on eBay of VRAM DIMM. Is it possible for these to be in the DRam slots instead of the VRam slots would the computer still work? Also is it possible for me to use memory from a Ruby IMac G3 DV? I have two 68 mb sticks that I took out of my IMac that I hate to waste.

Some older DIMMs are "fatter" than we see today. I can't say for sure if that makes them VRAM. The computer may run with VRAM in the RAM slots (assuming they have the same pin layout) but they would certainly not be recognized. It is more likely that the computer would not boot, giving the "breaking glass" sound instead of the normal startup chime.
When you get the computer open tonight, shine a light into the RAM and VRAM slots (reference the logic board diagram. Slots have bars every so often that "key" them for the right RAM. The RAM sticks have corresponding notches to clear the bars for full insertion. I doubt that RAM and VRAM for the same computer would have the same pattern of bars.
The RAM from the iMac will work in Beige G3s, Blue & White G3s, and early G4s--any Mac with a system bus speed of 100mHz or less, except the early eMacs. Even though they had a 100mHz bus, they have to have 133 speed RAM for some reason.. That iMac RAM is called "DRAM" and is a more evolved type than that used in older Macs. -
Lenovo G550 CPU upgrad to a P7570 or P7370
Hi just wondering if it would be possible to upgrad the CPU in the laptop to either P7370 or P7570 i have looked on the CPU Spec list but thats outdated the P7570 is the same as the P7550 but with VT enabled and P7370 will be the same as the P7350.
the P7X70 cpus are not on the list and would like some confirmation from lenovo if they will work or not before buying them.

Hi, I'm pretty new to optimizing computers. I have used Everest to get the following info on my systems performance. It's a long text, but I'm uncertain as to what is important here...so bear with me. Which values seem too low according to what should be expected(I'm not talking overclocking ... yet)? How can they be altered? A new BIOS version (running x64!)? Any suggestions are welcome. The system is stable.
