Dratted Beep Boop sound

I am a newbie at this build your own PC thing, and would appreciate advice from you experts.  I bought an ANTEC Sonata case and I believe that the power supply it comes with is rated 380 watts. I installed a K7N2G-IL board, with an AMD Athlon XP2500 processor, 333 FSB, Barton Core, It has 512 MB, DDR Ultra memory, 400 Mhz single channel for now. Installed a single CDRW/DVD Combo drive, and am just using the onboard sound and video for now. Much to my  delight when I booted it up everything came on and seems to work great. I will add to video and sound cards and memory later, that's part of the fun of build your own.  Here's the problem:  The periodic beep/ boop sound from the PC speaker is driving me nuts.  The BIOS is Phoenix Award version 3.5.  After reading some of you FAQ's I have gone in and turned off (disabled ) the warning Beep in the BIOS. It reports the CPU temp as 37 deg. C; System Temp as 35 deg. C; voltages seem resonable at:  +12 V = 11.67; - 12 V = - 11.95; + 5 V = 4.94; and - 5 V = -4.94.  I could not find a seperate place in the BIOS to turn off what is referred to as "case intrusion?".  What can I do to stop the infernal beeps, short of disconnecting the case speaker?
I double checked after reboot, and the warning beep option remained disabled.  Any and all helpful hints are appreciated.

Thanks for your responses,
I wouldn't call it a chirp,  it's a solid single frequency tone for several seconds, followed by a second different solid frequency for several seconds.  The two tones do not repeat, and will not be heard for maybe 15 or 20 minutes.
Come to think of it, I have not heard the tones while I was in the BIOS, or when booting,  only while in windows.  But they are definatlely coming from the PC speaker, and not fromthe windows speakers at the other end of the desk.
The Antec case has two keyed latches, but I don't remember seeing any wires going to them. I think they are stricktly mechanical. When I get home from work tonight I'll read throuugh the manual to see if I can find mention of intrusion detection, but I don't remember seeing it when I was putting things together.
Thanks again.

You can install Temperature Monitor and have a look if the CPU oder GPU oder something else went to hot. The processor has a built in safety mechanism to shut down the computer before taking damage.

  • How do I turn off Sleep/Hibernation/Startup Beeps and Sounds?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad x200 running vista ultimate. type 7454-cto
How do i turn off these annoying beeps that sound every time my computer goes into and out of sleep and hibernation.
I've tried turning the sound scheme to "No sounds," but the beep still sounds when computer enters and exits sleep and hibernation.
If i turn on "mute" before i enter sleep or hibernate, the beep does not sound (which is what i want). Unfortunately, its impossible to turn on MUTE when im trying to bring the computer out of sleep or hibernate (which makes it very distracting to turn the computer on during class).
    Solution:
Enter BIOS by pressing F1 during boot
         >Config
                  >Beep and Alarm
Set Power control beep to [Disabled]

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just tried it out and the BIOS solution works.  Here's the funny part: After disabling the beep in BIOS config, I started windows and opened Power Manager again.  Sure enough, the "beep when power state changes" option was finally disabled.  Just for kicks, I tried to see if I could enable it again in Power Manager.  I enabled it just fine in Power Manager but when I tried to disable it again I COULDN'T!  I had to back into the BIOS again to disable it.  So the deal seems to be that Power Manager will allow you to turn on the annoying beep, but if you want to turn it off, you need to do it in the BIOS settings.

  • BEEP like sound in SILENT MOOD

My handset is Nokia 5800XM, firmware version 31. If I screen any contact or a group of contact in profile for not ringing or if I press silent key while calling a person, there is a BEEP like sound after disconnecting/end of silent ringing. That means I have to heard a sound/BEEP which I do not want to hear in silent mode/ or call screening. How can I prevent this? Do you have any idea? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Go to profiles>Silent>Personalize and check if the warning tones and Keypad tones are set to off.

  • What does it mean when I try to start my old iMac and I get a beep beep beep that sounds like a truck backing up?

I have an iMac that was running Lion, and everything just died. I tried to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the operating system, but now when I boot I get a beep beep beep that sounds like a truck backing up. What is wrong?

    How many beeps?
1 tone, repeating every 5 seconds: This indicates no RAM is installed.
3 successive tones, a 5 second pause (repeating): This indicates RAM does not pass a data integrity check.
1 long tone while holding down the power button: Indicates an EFI ROM update is in progress on a computer manufactured before 2012.
3 long tones, 3 short tones, 3 long tones: Indicates EFI ROM corruption is detected and the computer is in EFI ROM recovery mode.

  • Flash Player 11.6 r602 annoying boop sound

Flash Player is giving off a "booping" sound every 6 to 10 seconds it's utterly annoying. I already tried a reinstallation but to no avail. What could that be and how do i shut it off?
The Volume Meter in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 shows it as Flash Player 11.6 r602 and i have the latest version installed.
I'm using Firefox v20.0 x64 If there's any additional information that is needed i will try to provide it.
I have no idea what's causing it to do this sound and recording it would be a pretty hefty piece of work i think^^ so please bear with it...

  • Boop sound instead of starting up.

My computer was having trouble starting up but if I turned it off and on a few times it would start up. I replaced the internal battery and this resolved the issue, or so I thought. When the computer would not start up all fans would turn on the the key board would light up but i would have a blank black screen.I tried to reset the pram but now I do not even hear the os start up sound I just hear a boop. The computer lights up and all the fans turn on yet the keyboard does not light up... Since the hard drive is brand new I am assuming that it is a hardware issue... CPU? Video card? What? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

  • K9A2 Platinum beeping, no sound

So I got my computer up and running, and it was working fine for about one or two weeks.  But this morning, the motherboard started beeping when I booted up(specifically, when I logged into windows), and my sound is no longer working.  I've discovered that the headphone jack still provides sound, but I'm not getting anything out of the rear port.  I haven't changed anything at all, I just turned it off when it was working(though I do think I heard some beeps), and when I turn it back on, I no longer have sound.  I updated my drivers, but no luck there.  I'm just using sound off of the motherboard, I don't have a sound card in my computer.  Any thoughts?

  • Ipad air beeped and sound went off

    HI
My iPad Air beeped one time ( the sound was like as if you have clicked some undefined keyboard keys on Win 98) then sound went off. It happened once a month but with iOS 7.1.2 it happened once a week. Each time I should power off and on to fix it.
    Is it hardware problem or...?
    thanks

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.
Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation. Is it still within the 1-yr warranty period?

  • Satellite A665 beeping and sound issue

I have a Satellite A665 and when I start the computer, there is a long high pitched beep initially and then as it goes for a short time through the start up process, prior to Windows, it beeps again.  The beeping is coming from the bios, I believe since I have uninstalled the sound components in Device manager to test this.  Once Windows 7 is completely booted up and the sound components are reloaded, the speaker icon vibrates and has a continuous loud hum.  It is a high pitched hum that never goes away and the icon vibrates like crazy.  I have reseated the RAM and am at an impasse as to what to do.  It does sound like a BIOS issue but not sure what the next step may be.  It is 2 years old and out of warranty.
    Thanks!

I have not tried updating the bios since the sound was so severe I doubted that would help but I may try that.
I uninstalled all sound devices in Device Manager and then rebooted and the sound was unchanged.  That is what leads me to believe the issue is not with the sound devices.  I had the speakers unplugged and the devices uninstalled and the sound remained unchanged.  The only part the sound system plays in all this is that the sound icon (little speaker in the lower right hand corner) vibrates like crazy once Windows boots up and the devices are reloaded.  If you turn up the sound on the speakers, the hum or beep is constant and gets very loud.
I have been repairing computers for over 40 years and I have never seen anything like this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This code was written (rather belatedly) in response to a question in [Example: Code to generate audio tone|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5243872]. Due to it's age, it has been locked.
The replier wanted to know how to use JavaSound for a Morse code key. Actually now I think about it, the sound loops nicely, but it still demonstrates a slight click at start and stop. I tried using Clip.loop(0) to stop the sound, but that did not avoid the 'click'! I suppose you would need to do as the person was musing, and adjust the GAIN of the Clip up and down.
    In any case - questions.
    - Can anyone make this work for key presses? The first thing you'd need to do is a find on "TODO" and comment out the line that ensures the Code Key is not focusable (and then add a KeyListener(1)). The problem I encountered was that the KeyEvents were getting fired continuously, which caused the sound to 'stutter'. A Timer to ignore quickly repeated keys might work (though I could not make it work for me), but then that would introduce a lag between when whe key was released, and when the sound stopped. It would need to be a very short delay, to use it much in the way the mouse click currently works.
    - Any ideas on improvements to the basic code? (1) (I will be adding the ability to configure the parameters of the applet - more code lines. Possibly also converting the GAIN control from the mostly useless logarithmic ..whatever scale it uses, to linear.)
    1) Note that I had to use single spaces to indent - everything else blew the posting limit(2).
    2) Hence also, questions on 2nd post. ;)

  • Ipad 2 apple symbol on screen and won't turn on and shut down wheel is on and charging beep makes sounds

My daughter was on the Ipad 2 last night , don't know what she was playing, and she said it was shutting down.. it had a good amount of charge in it.. Now it has the apple icon and the shut down wheel on. The wheel starts out dim then gets bright and then goes off.. then repeats... I have tried rebooting it with holding the home screen while holding down the shut off button. That doesn't reboot, when it comes back on just shows the the apple icon, the the shut down wheel comes back, I am charging the ipad now and I hear a sound, like when you plug in your charger.  how can i get it to turn back on?

  • HT1270 Anyone have a MacBook Pro freeze with a beeping alarm sound. What caused this.

Just wondering what caused my MacBook Pro to freeze and have a loud alarm sound. I just installed new memory.

Reinstall the old memory and see if it goes away
If it does then the new memory is bad

  • Computer crash with a "beeping" alarm sound

I have had all sorts of problems with a Macbook crashing while running Logic. Intermittent for a while and now frequent. Twice now, I have had it crash and and make a beeping alarm noise from within the system. I've run disk utility and it doesn't show any messages. I upgraded to Maverick and to Logic Pro X to see if that would help. It did not. I'm guessing the hard drive is dying? Ideas?

Check RAM, make sure you have the requirements for Logic and that the modules are seated properly

  • Why my N900 has a problem with beeps/alert sounds!...

I have a weird problem with my N900 and the alert sounds.
They seem to stutter or not sound smoothly as if something is slowing them.
It happens on message alerts, email, sms and camera shutter etc.
Difficult to describe. I am not technical but it almost seems like it can't keep up maybe the CPU or memory???
Had the problem before and after PR1.2..
Also noticed stutter/pausing on media player as per this clip below from another user.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKd7Gko2dak
Searched discussion and can't see a topic but have read someone else mentioning something similar once.

You may have to see about exchanging that MacBook/Pro for another before time runs out, and hope the replacement does not have this issue; and if you have access to an Apple Store with Genius, you may be able to get an appointment to discuss this issue and the exchange prospect, if it comes to that before 14 days from purchase date go by.
I've looked a little and seen a few different problems with some of the hardware you have, but not the same issue with the green color, etc. Do you have a different external display device to see if the color is due to the internal graphics hardware in the MacBookPro retina?
Hopefully you can get an answer in this matter.
    Good luck & happy computing!
