Draw a continuous surface

Hi
I search a function to automate this process (look at the picture below for an example) :
- I have a picture with a lot of black pixels
- I would like to group all black pixels which are separated by less than "X" pixels, to draw a continuous surface.
Maybe with ExtendScript ?
Thank you for your help.

I was able to use Filter - Other - Minimum with a particular set of parameters, followed by a Median filter to smooth the results, to get something not unlike what you showed, but given that I derived the parameters empirically from your very limited image, at exactly the size given, I wouldn't be surprised if the characteristics of this sequence of operations are way off from what you want.
In any case, if you'd like to see this "proof of concept" action to understand what I did, here it is:

Keep in mind this will be VERY sensitive to the thresholds and sizes chosen for the various steps, and is crafted to work at an image with just the resolution you showed above.

  • Draw a continuous dashed line

    I suspect the answer is simpler than I expect, but it has been eluding me none the less, so I've been wondering how to draw a continuous dashed line, as per the title. I'm cleaning up a photo I made a while back and would to create a flowing line and set it to be dashed as you can do in Adobe Illustrator, where you could draw a line and edit the line type to be dashed, or dotted, or a bunch of snowflakes or what have you.
    I can hear you asking, "why not just use Illustrator?". Well, I do not have it. I used Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 in an art class senior year of high school, but it has been a little while so I'm trying to re-learn the ropes a little bit.

  • PS CC 2014 - Brush tool will not draw a continuous line

    Brush tool will not draw a continuous line, I am on a macbook pro.
    Click and drag - I only get a spot.
    Very frustrating.

    Thanks for your answer PK. I really expected this to work as an ok workaround.... Now I've found that I cannot even cmd+tab back into CC.
    Let's say I tab out into Safari. I get the Safari window on top of CC. I tab back to CC and nothing happens.
    So I have to click back into the CC window to bring it back.
    Does anyone know if that is a bug that Adobe are looking into?

  • Drawing to a surface...

    Hello,
    I would like to render directly to a surface from a C++
    library via Alchemy. Is this possible? The use case is to render
    updating frames of video directly on a surface without streaming
    via standard methods using our existing media pipeline. Thank you!
    Barry

    You could pass in a Flash Graphics object to your C code as
    an AS3_Val then using AS3_Call() to call functions on the Graphics
    object:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/langref/flash/display/Graphics.html
    You would need to write some C code to compile in alchemy
    that looks vaguely like (not tested in any way)
    static draw_on_graphicsl(AS3_Val graphics) {
    int x = 100;
    int y = 100;
    int radius = 25;
    AS3_CallS("drawCircle", graphics,
    AS3_Array("IntType,IntType,IntType", x, y, radius));

  • How to adjust line sampling frequency in photoshop CC on surface pro 3

    I just got a Surface Pro 3 so that I could work on my art on the go. I am used to working on a mac with a cintiq, but fell for the hype that photoshop was optimized to work with SP3. However, when I try to use the brush tool, my lines look AWFUL! no matter what I do, the lines are wavy and messy looking. I read that PSCC raised the sampling frequency rate so that the line would look better, but I think THAT is exactly why it looks awful. the Surface pro seems to be picking up EVERY microscopic twitch. I cant work like this ... and I am surely not the only person using PSCC on the SP3, as they're ADVERTISED to work together. How do I adjust the sampling frequency so that my line looks as smooth as it does on a Wacom in photoshop? ...because THAT image below.. looks like crap.

    I'm not an artist so I don't draw using my Surface pro 3.  Many have the same issue with wacom tablets and cintigu from what I read.  They seem to be able to solve their concerns by installing a plugin Lazy Nezumi Pro - Mouse and Pen Smoothing for PhotoShop and other Apps Remember I don't draw and have not installed that plug-in so I can not state that it works well on a surface pro 3.
    Doing a Web search  I found this I quote
    Hi guys,
    I'm the author of Lazy Nezumi Pro!
    Here's the situation with the Surface Pro 3: I'm not 100% sure, but I think the people who got LNP to work with the SP3 the ones who have Photoshop CC 2014, which uses the new Windows 8 native tablet API (instead of Wintab, which is very old tech). If you have this version, make sure you enable Windows Ink for it to work right. It's possible that the N-Trig Wintab implementation is just buggy, or that it's doing something very differently than what LNP is expecting (this is probably the case since I have reports that PS works fine without LNP). Unfortunately I won't know more until I get a SP3 myself and do some testing/debugging.
    I'm sorry I can't help more right now, but I'll keep you updated!

  • Surface Pro 3 no pen pressure in CS6?

    I have just purchased a Surface Pro 3 and have downloaded Adobe Suite, particularly to use Photoshop CS6.
    However, I have no pen pressure in Photoshop CS6! It's incredibly frustrating!
    I can draw with the Surface Pen, but there is no pressure sensitivity - even when I switch sensitivity on. (I am experienced using Photoshop and understand how to use these functions).
    The Surface Pen seems to be working fine in all other applications.

    You say the pen is "working fine" in all other applications, but does this mean you're getting pressure sensitivity in other applications?
    I just got a SP3 a couple of months ago and as I recall, once you calibrate it and pair it the Surface Pen will function, but without pressure sensitivity. After doing some research I ended up downloading and installing the N-trig Wintab driver and I now have pressure sensitivity in a variety of art programs, e.g. Photoshop CC & CC 2014, ArtRage, Sketchbook Pro, Manga Studio 5, and Painter 2015.
    I understand that Microsoft has now released Surface Hub, an app that enables sensitivity adjustment and is available in the Microsoft store. My impression is that you would install this for newer apps and only if you have not already installed the Wintab driver. The Surface Hub seems to be getting mixed reviews.
    See this Microsoft page for further information and links: http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/touch-mouse-and-search/troubleshoot-surface -pen#pressure

  • How can I dot some pionts on spheric surface in "3D parametric surfaceGraph"

    HI
        I have built a spherical to Cartesian coordinates(like the picure sample).
    When I finished the sphere I need to dot some points(like the picture sphere),
    There're 2 idea to actualize.
    One is Draw multi 3D surface,first is sphere,another is some points,but I want the pionts is dynamic ,they're dotted one after one that looks like a queue.The idea is not satisafy.
    The other idea for me is Replace some point in Sphere Array,
    But I want the sphere looks like fixed and silent,points is dotted one after one as a dynamic scaning.
    How can I resolve the problem????

  • Question--does power adapter draw from outlet when not connected?

    Just wondering, since I'll often pull the plug from my MacBook but then not pull it out from the wall. (That combined with all the green press about energy vampires in the home...) Anyway, does my power cord, when plugged into the wall outlet but not to the MacBook, draw power continuously. Ie, in terms of energy savings, am I better off pulling it out of the wall?
    Thanks.

    Only a minimal amount depending on the design. I doubt if you would see much difference in your bill if you unplugged it. If you are worried about it use a power strip to plug it into. Then all you have to is turn the power strip off and the adapter is disconnected from the mains.
    One thing you could do is talk to your power company. mine has small meter you plug into the wall and then you adapter into this. This would allow you to see how much power s consumed by that item. They do this during a power survey of your home.

  • Disk Drawer Opens on Startup

    My CD drawer is not functioning properly. The drawer opens on startup and will not stay closed therefore it is not able to read a CD. I have read other posts and have done the following:
    Run Disk Utility -- one problem seemed to be solved after running Disk Utility. On startup I no longer get the message, "The disk you inserted is not readable by this computer." initialize, ignore, eject
    But I still can not use my CD drawer -- it continues to stay open.
    I tried to get around the opening drawer by booting with the Option key down, install the Tiger Disk, close the drawer, click on the little 3/4 circle and wait for the CD to appear. I waited quite a while and the CD icon never appeared.
    Your advice would be appreciated. Thank You.

    Sometimes a spurious signal from a USB device will cause this. First disconnect all USB devices except your kbd & mouse. Now does the drawer open on startup?
    If so, disconnect your mouse & startup. Now does the drawer open on startup?

  • Bugs in the new 3D graph (LV 8.6)

    I already posted this report in the Breakpoint board, breaking the rules...
    Therefore this is not exactly a duplicate post, since it should allow some discussion.
    I just downloaded LV 8.6, as I could not wait to have a look at the new long time awaited 3D graphs primitives, said to run also on MacOS. This is a GREAT new feature. The 3D surface graph works great, but I also found some new bugs (probably known already by the development team since they are pretty obvious, but who knows...).
    Additionnaly, I enjoy the idea that this seems to be the first LV 8.6 bug report in this forum.
    OK, here we go : (all the bugs have been found on a WindowXP machine)
    1 - As shown in the attached picture, a transparent cursor plane hide the 3D surface graph (but shows the axis)
    2 - As shown on the same picture, the boundaries of a cursor plane are locked to the axis values defined by the axis autoscale mode. The cursor plane appears much wider than the axis.
    3 - While in "perspective" mode, when the 3D indicator size is changed the graph switches to "orthographic" mode. An access to the property window is required to return to "perspective" mode.
    4 - after an access to the property window, the graph (perspective mode) in the Render window is streched to fit the window area, but returns back to a normal aspect ratio as soon as the window size is slightly changed.
    5 - As shown in the second attached picture, after a slight modification of the window size, the 3D surface is chopped of during a zoom-in.
    6 - When the 3D indicator size is streched, the graph is also streched. That gives the graph a poor look during rotation. In the old 3D activeX the aspect ratio of the graph was preserved.
    7 - (Not a bug, but a major lack of functionnality) I could not find a way to draw a 3D surface and a line on the same graph. This is easy with the old ActiveX and is a very usefull function when you want to represent the trajectory of an object moving onto a surface.
    8 - (Not a bug, but a strong inconvenience) A predefined color spectrum is lacking
    9 - (Not a bug, but a minor inconvenience) No logarithmic mode for the axis scales
    I better stop now since my wife is desperately asking me to pack my luggage before we leave for NIweek ! See (some of) you soon in Austin !

    I wasn't studious enough : adding a line (problem #7 above) is easy : just drop another 3D graph on the front panel, this will brings in a new create_plot_line.vi on the diagram. Get rid of the additionnal 3D graph indicator, and wire the previous one to the new vi. See the attached graph, where two yellow lines have been drawn on each side the base of the peaks.
    Not yet possible to change the line thickness, but works nicely.
    I now have to customize my function palette to make the "native 3D graphs" directly accessible.
    One additionnal concern though : with the old ActiveX, it was possible (if not simple... ) to insert functionnal 3D graphs in Powerpoint presentations (see this thread). Is there any way to achieve a similar result with the native 3D graphs ?

  • How to print vertical lines in smartform?

    Hello friends,
    Is it possible to draw vertical (continuous) lines in the main-area in a smartform? The line should start from the header and end when it reaches the footer. the line should look like it divides the main window.

    hi,
    you may specify an x-position and a length in this way:
    code
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE /12(10).
    [/code]That means, "position at column 12 and draw an horizontal line of width 10 characters".
    I hope this helps. Best regards
    Reward points if found helpful...

  • Brush/pencil not working in Photoshop

    My brush/pencil tool isn't working in Photoshop CS5...when I try and use it it just makes a dot and doesn't allow me to draw a continuous line...

    I got called away, so excuse me for not getting back sooner.
    I did not know you were using a tablet. If you disconnect the tablet does the mousepad or trackpad give the same results?
    If so, you may try resetting prefs. I do not know if you are using a Mac or PC
    http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/photoshop/quick-tip-reset-photoshops-preferences       (Windows and Mac)
    If not then you may have to troubleshoot your tablet and check your tablet's maker for the latest drivers.

  • Why is Vanishing Point filter in the latest Photoshop CC creating PNGs that do not match the planes?

    Hi Everyone,
    I've scoured the forums, as well as external sites, but not finding a solution.
    Tried tech support, their ideas didn't pan out. Would greatly appreciate some guidance.
    Every time I try to use VPE, the resulting mesh is fine (the dxf), but the PNGs
    do not match the drawn planes at all.
    For example, I'll use a file from wikimedia. (all images re-compressed for the forum)
    I draw the right wall, make sure it is blue, then pull the floor.
    Pull the floor and the left wall.
    Pull the back ground (hard to see in the compressed image, but it is there).
    Pull the ceiling.
    The completed planes.  Right wall was drawn, remaining were each
    pulled out the of the previous plane.  All blue.  Entire image is covered.
    Importing the VPE into After Effects CC.  Note the wonky textures.
    Here are the actual textures (original PNGs compressed into JPEG for posting).
    This is the background piece, note how the section of the image doesn't align at
    all with the plane I drew.
    Hope this issue is clear to all.  The mesh looks fine to me, just the PNGs are off.
    I've successfully used the Vanishing Point filter extensively in previous versions of Photoshop.
    I'm currently using Photoshop CC on OSX 10.8.4 running on a 15" PowerBook Retina.
    I've tried the following to no avail:
    differing JPEGs
    drawing the floor first
    drawing the first surface counter-clockwise and clockwise : )
    ensured all planes are blue
    disabled graphics acceleration under prefererences
    completed uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled with clean performance/preference settings (did not import any previous settings).removed the "Adobe Photoshop CC Settings" folder as well.
    Tried exporting a DXF, again mesh looks great, textures are wrong.
    Ideas are appreciated because right now, I'm stuck : )

    GOT IT!!!!
    After we eliminated Adobe settings, and the software, I started wondering what's outside that could be affecting VPE.
    It's the resolution of the screen!  I have a MBP Retina.
    Using SetResX, I cranked the resolution of my screen from the default retina 1440 x 900 to the hardware's native res of 2880 x 1800.
    THIS FIXED IT.
    The resulting PNGs from the export perfectly match the planes (DXF Mesh).
    So, I'm asserting that there may be a bug in the current release of PS CC where it is not compatible with the default retina resolution on the MacBook Pro.

  • How to embed mplayer in Linux with JNI

    Hello All,
    I was wondering if anyone here knows to get a Linux based video player to draw on the awt Canvas. I am trying to play the streaming video in ASX / WMV format on Linux. And MPlayer is one such player that can play almost anything.
    For windows, there are a few options to embed the native media player and I am thinking of going with jawin as it hides most of the native implementation. But I have not much idea about how to do it in Linux. Couldn't find many examples / guides either.
    If someone has an idea / links and would like to share it, it'll be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rex

    I could advance a little more and got the JNI library to draw on the awt Canvas. But still can't get another native program like gedit to draw on the Canvas.
    This is what I am doing to draw the rectangles (from Sun's example) -
    gc = XCreateGC(dsi_x11->display, dsi_x11->drawable, 0, 0);
    XSetBackground(dsi_x11->display, gc, 0);
    for (i=0; i<36;i++)
    XSetForeground(dsi_x11->display, gc, 10*i);
    XFillRectangle(dsi_x11->display, dsi_x11->drawable, gc,
    10*i, 5, 90, 90);
    XSetForeground(dsi_x11->display, gc, 155);
    XDrawImageString(dsi_x11->display, dsi_x11->drawable, gc,
    100, 110, testString, strlen(testString));
    But how do I pass the handle 'gc' to another program like gedit to draw on this surface instead of opening it's own window ? It'll be a great help if someone could share an idea on this.
    Thanks,
    Rex
