Drawbacks of LIS  compare to LO

Hi  friends,
   could u plz give me the drawbacks of LIS   compare to LO Extraction.. and when we go for LO....
REGARDS
AJAY

hi
LIS is old technique through which we can load the  data. Here we use typical delta and full up-loading techniques to get data from an logistics application, it uses V1 and V2 update, it means that it was a synchronous or asynchronous update from the application documents to LIS structures at the time when the application document was posted.
LO Cockpit is new technique i think from bw 3.0 ( i am not sure) which uses V3 which is an update that you can schedule, so it does not update at the time when you process the application documents, but it will be posted at a later stage.
Another big difference between LO and LIS is that,
You have separate datasources for header level, item level and schedule line level available in LO, you can choose at which level you want to extract your data and switch off others, which results in reduced data.
we do not have this flexibility with LIS structures
with Plug-In 2001.2 S2xx-Structures have been replaced by Logistics Extraction Cockpit. However, R/3 releases 4.x support S2xx-Structures and Logistics Extraction Cockpit in parallel.
With new LBWE extractors there are a lot of benefits:
- Detailed Extraction: extraction can be deactivated (e.g. Schedule Line Data) leads to leaner extractors with less volume.
Document Changes: only BW-relevant data changes will be updated (less upload volume).
- LIS-Tables are not updated reduced data volume due to avoided redundancy.
- Update with Batch-Process (V3) -> no load on daily business (but now there are available different delta methods as the direct delta...)
- No LIS-Know How necessary.
- Functional Enhancements easy to be done.
- Central, uniform maintenance tool for logistics applications (LBWE)
- No Delta-Tables (SnnnBIW1/-2) no double update, no double Data-Storage
- A lot of flows are covered: Purchasing,Inventory Controlling, Shop Floor Control, Quality Management, Shipment, Sales, Shipping, Billing, Plant Maintenance, Customer Service, Retailing....

  • How to include events for LO

    Hi,
    Is there a way to include events for standard LO data sources ?
    There are a list of events that are available for 2LIS_02_ITM and it records all the delta changes as per the events.For 2LIS_02_SCN there is only one event available which triggers only when a purchase order is saved or changed. But since there is no event available for GRn and Invoice reciept for this content no changes are recorded when a GR is done for a Purchase order.
    I wish to include events for 2LIS_02_SCN same as 2LIS_02_ITM, is there a way to do so ? Thanks.

  • Drawbacks of BDC

    HI,
    Can any body will throw some light on   drawbacks of
    BDC compared with LSMW?
    Thanks&Regards
    Mahesh

    hi Mahesh
    u can check below
    Diff. between LSMW & BDC?
    LSMW is an encapsulated data transfer tool. It can provide the same functionality as BDC infact much more but when coming to techinical perspective most the parameters are encapulated. To listout some of the differences :
    >> LSMW is basicaly designed for a fuctional consultant who do not do much coding but need to explore the fuctionality while BDC is designed for a technical consultant.
    >> LSMW offers different techinque for migrating data: Direct input ,BAPI,Idoc,Batch input recording. While bdc basically uses recording.
    >>LSMW mapping is done by SAP while in BDC we have to do it explicitly .
    >>LSMW is basically for standard SAP application while bdc basically for customized application.
    >>Coding can be done flexibly in BDC when compared to LSMW
    BDC
    BDC allows you to perform database updates in the background using standard SAP transactions.
    The resultant entries will be as if the user had manually entered the data via SAP. This means
    that you do not bypass any of the standard SAP consistency checks, authorisations etc.
    There are two main methods of ABAP BDC, these are Call Transaction and Batch Input.
    LSMW

  • Any free ipad app,so that I can open my Microsoft Word documents

    Any free ipad app,so that I can open my Microsoft Word documents

    Another one that just opened up yesterday is OnLive. Both OnLive and CloudOn are cloud-based - you're accessing a server to operate Windows programs and files remotely. There are drawback to it, compared to a full program on the iPad (storing your files remotely, requiring strong and constant internet connection), but since they are both free for now (OnLive will offer pay plans for more storage and features, I imagine CloudOn will do something similar) it can't hurt to try them. I'm downloading both and will give them a whirl.
    I'm also hoping the rumors that MS is working on iPad versions of Office is true, although I imagine that just like the iWorks programs they'll have less features than the full versions.

  • Ex-80gb PS3 hdd - in enclosure.. need two usb ports?

    Have got a 'Omata Mobile HD' enclosure.
    Have installed the 80gb formatted hitachi drive that was in my PS3 into it.
    PLugged it into powerbook usb port... disc utility doesnt recognise it... read instructions again from Omata, all in pigeon english - just talks about windows install etc.. .google search later reveals that it needs two usb ports - one for power, one for data - is this true? Does this go for all enclosures?
    i would need to then buy a usb extendor as the usb ports are on opposite sides of the pbg4.
    Are there any enclosures that can run a 80gb off one usb port? It also has DC 5V/1A on the enclosure are these quite common?

    Hi, Steve. Given the inconvenience of connecting a dual-USB "Y" cable to your Powerbook, the drawbacks of USB2 compared to FireWire for use with any Powerbook (USB is non-bootable on all PPC Macs and slower than FW 400, never mind FW 800), and the very low cost of your Omata enclosure, I recommend simply replacing it with a FW enclosure. Save the Omata one for use with your next Mac, which will be Intel-powered and USB-bootable, and won't have the limited USB bus power problem that afflicts all Powerbook G4s. Most bus-powered FW enclosures are bootable and have no trouble getting enough juice from Powerbooks, unlike nearly all USB2 enclosures. Get one that has the Oxford 911+ FW bridge chipset in it; that's far and away the most reliable bridge.

  • What is setup table?

    Hello,
             I want to know that what is set up table and how can i load the data from the setup table in to my DSO or infocube.please throw some light on these.

    Hi,
    As said in the previous post its the intermediate table between Logistic tables and Bw. We have some drawbacks in LIS thats y we have replaced Information structure with the Setup tables. When u run the Full or Init load in BW then the data will be extracted from the setup tables. Before this u have to fill setup tables by doing the statistical setup. By using the Tcode OLI*BW star will be replaced with the specific application componant.
    Search in SDN u will get lot of threads

  • Generate XML of styles

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to iterate through a praragraph and generate an XML of all styles.
    For example, I have one paragraph as following:
    abcdef
    Code for generating above:
    paragraph1.contents = "abcdef" + String.fromCharCode (0x000D);
    paragraph1.justification = Justification.leftAlign;
    paragraph1.pointSize = 10;
    paragraph1.fillColor=myDocument.colors.item("Black");
    //first 3 charachters as underline
    var underchar10 = paragraph1.characters.itemByRange(0,2);
    underchar10.underline=true;
    //2nd and 3rd charachters as bold
    var boldchar10 = paragraph1.characters.itemByRange(1,2);
    boldchar10.fontStyle= "Bold";
    Requirement
    How can I iterate through paragraph object and retrieve all styles that were set in it? For example, if I get an instance of above paragraph object, I want to retrieve all styling information, so that I can generate some string like:
    <paragraph content="abcdef" align="Justification.leftAlign" pointSize="10" fillColor="black">
           <characterStyle Range="0,2" underline="true" />
           <characterStyle Range="1,2" bold="true" />
    </paragraph>
    Any hint, example, tutorial or link would help!
    Thanks!

    Take a look at TextStyleRange. It seems to do exactly that -- reporting the length of each character span with the exact same attributes.
    There are two drawbacks: (1) TextStyleRange happily runs over the end of paragraphs and into the next paragraph(s) if the formatting is the same. You need some trick to determine when that happens. I've used both index (of the first character of the next paragraph) and blindly testing for a hard return in the TextStyleRange contents. There has been some talk on this forum on the subject -- try to find it.
    (2) (A major one!) ID tells you the next fragment has a different formatting ... but it does not tell you what the difference is. You'll have to test all of the attributes you are interested in. If there are no differences in those, you might as well consider the formatting "the same".
    That said, these drawbacks are nothing compared to "manually" comparing formatting of each and every single character to the next one.

  • Comparing the iPhone 3G with my current Japanese iPhone (trying to decide)

    I'm trying to decide whether or not to switch to an iPhone 3G now that it has been released here in Japan. I currently use an AU cell phone by Casio. I would have to switch to Softbank, but you can keep your old phone number now, so that's no problem.
    The iPhone certainly has it's attractions. It also has it's drawbacks compared to phones here. I think it adds up differently for different people depending on which features they think are important. Here is how I have been currently thinking about it. Please tell me if I got any of the iPhone features wrong!
    iPhone = how I rank the iPhone feature on a 0-10 scale
    current = how I rank my current Japanese cell phone on a 0-10 scale
    weight = how important I think the feature is on a 0-10 scale
    (1) Web Surfing - iPhone 10 / current 3 / weight 10
    The iPhone's browser is clearly the best cell phone web browser anywhere.
    (2) Camera Still - iPhone 3 / current 5 / weight 8
    My current cell phone's quality has never been pleasing, and is the same 2 megapixel resolution of the iPhone. But it does have a flash and an image stabilizer, neither of which the iPhone has.
    (3) Camera Video - iPhone 0 / current 6 / weight 8
    It really is convenient to be able to shoot videos with your cell phone these days. The iPhone may be the ONLY cell phone in the world these days without that feature, which is very inexplicable. This might be the show-stopper for me. True, I usually shoot videos with my regular camera. In fact, I usually shoot still photos with my regular camera. Still, it is a very useful feature to have.
    (4) Electronic Wallet - iPhone 0 / current 10 / weight 5
    It really is convenient to just wave your cell phone at the train wicket, or at the convenience store, or vending machine and not fuss with cash. But the fact of the matter is there is also a card version of the e-money which I also have, so I can do the same thing by waving my unopened wallet at the same devices. So I could live without this feature. Recharging the e-money by cell phone is convenient though.
    (5) Cut and Paste - iPhone 0 / current phone 5 / weight 3
    I don't often use the feature, but it is relatively easy on my current phone to mark the begin and end of a section of text and then use copy/cut/paste. I can't believe the iPhone still doesn't have something as basic as that. It probably isn't a show stopper, but it does give me pause.
    (6) Digital TV receiver - iPhone 0 / current phone 9 / weight 1
    My Japanese friend really wants a new phone with a digital TV receiver so he can watch it on the trains to and from work. On the other hand, this isn't a show-stopper for me because I very rarely use the TV feature.
    (7) Replaceable battery pack - iPhone 0 / current phone 10 / weight 2
    Most Japanese seem to be very taken aback that you can't remove and change the battery pack yourself and switch to a spare when out for a long day. That sort of bothers me too, but the fact of the matter is I've never done that with any of my previous phones, so don't think I would worry about it. I am guessing there are portable rechargers available that run on batteries, right? I've used those before.
    (8) Applications - iPhone 10 / current phone 2 / weight 10
    The iPhone clearly has all the other cell phones beat in terms of applications. I've always been very disappointed with the lack of interesting apps available for my Japanese cell phones. I am assuming there is a PDF viewer available?
    (9) Email - iPhone 7 / current phone 7 / weight 10
    I haven't used the iPhone email app so I am just guessing. I assume you can have file attachments, right? Like send photos via email? Can you have multiple attachments in one email? iPhone email isn't "push" yet, right? You have to poll for new messages. My current phone uses push technology, like a Blackberry does, so it receives email automatically as soon as it is sent.
    (10) Keyboard - iPhone ? / current phone ? / weight 10
    I still can't figure out which is easier to use. My current cell phone is easy to input in Japanese, but hard to input in English! I suspect that the iPhone is the opposite - probably easier to input in English because of the full kb, but more difficult in Japanese. Also the lack of there being buttons or tactile feedback might make it harder to user.
    (11) Display - iPhone 8 / current phone 6 / weight 10
    The iPhone's display is larger and brighter. On the other hand, my current phone's display has a higher resolution.
    (12) Music features - iPhone 10 / current phone 2 / weight 7
    Having a built-in iPod is very nice. My current phone has the AU music system built in but it doesn't work well with Macs. A Windows person might find it more useful.
    I also read about a "yellow-ish tint" problem with the new iPhones. That's something I wouldn't want to get into. Another headache with Apple over some quality problem, like I had with my iPod nano 3G that I ended up getting a refund for. I don't think I could take that right now. Has that issue been resolved?
    Thanks!
    doug

    (3) Apple didn`t include video support because of the quality of the 2 MP camera, they are known as being the best in video and photography, so enabling video would result in a poor quality, Apple`s approach on this was all or nothing.
    (9) It supports loads of attachments such as PDF, DOC, images, that can be saved to the phone, or attached right after making them from the Camera Roll, and actually it supports push email, via the "Mobile Me" service from Apple (.Mac). This requires a anual payment, but it`s not that expensive, considering that you can use it with PC`s, Macs, and your phone.
    (10) The iPhones keyboard is the best I`ve ever used, i takes about a week to write fast, and about 2 to be a pro, and I mean really fast :))
    PS: What`s your current phone ?

  • Compare two text files in Powershell and if a name is found in both files output content from file 2 to a 3rd text file

    Is it possible using PowerShell to compare the contents of two text files line by line and if a line is found output that line to a third text file?
    Lets say hypothetically someone asks us to search a text file named names1.txt and when a name is found in names1.txt we then pair that with the same name in the second text file called names2.txt
    lets say the names shown below are in names1.txt
    Bob
    Mike
    George
    Lets say the names and contents shown below are in names2.txt
    Lisa
    Jordan
    Mike 1112222
    Bob 8675309
    Don
    Joe
    Lets say we want names3.txt to contain the data shown below
    Mike 1112222
    Bob 8675309
    In vbscript I used search and replace commands to get part of the way there like this
    Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set objFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile("testing.txt", ForReading)
    strText = objFile.ReadAll
    objFile.Close
    strNewText = Replace(strText, "Mike ", "Mike 1112222")
    Set objFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile("testing.txt", ForWriting)
    objFile.WriteLine strNewText
    objFile.Close
    That script works great when you know the name you are looking for and the correct values. Lets say someone gives you a list of 1000 employees and says import these names into a list in the correct format and one sheet has the correct names only and
    the other sheet has lots of extra names say 200000 and you only need the 1000 you are looking for in the format from names2.txt.

    Sure,
    Here's a simple one:
    $names1 = "C:\names1.txt"
    $names2 = "C:\names2.txt"
    $names3 = "C:\names3.txt"
    Get-Content $names1 | ForEach-Object {
    $names1_Line = $_
    Get-Content $names2 | Where-Object {$_.Contains($names1_Line)} | Out-File -FilePath $names3 -Append
    This basically just reads $names1 file, line by line, and then read $names2 file line by line as well.
    If the line being evaluated from $names2 file contains the line being evaluated from $names1 file, then the line from $names2 file gets output to $names3 file, appending to what's already there.
    This might need a few more tinkering to get it to perform faster etc depending on your requirements. For example:
    - If either $names1 or $names2 contain a lot of entries (in the region of hundreds) then it will be faster to load the whole content of $names2 into memory rather than opening the file, reading line by line, closing and then doing the same for every single
    line in $names1 (which is how it is currently works)
    - Make sure that your comparison is behaving as expected. The .Contains method always does a case sensitive comparison, this might not be what you are after.
    - You might want to put a condition to ignore blank lines or lines with spaces, else they'll also be brought over to $names3
    Hopefully this will get you started though and ask if you have further questions.

  • Using iBook 12" for PhotoShop CS2? Durability compared to PowerBook?

    I'm thinking about getting a new Mac. I would really like an iMac 20", but that may be too much to spend right now.
    I'm thinking an iBook would give me portability, as well as being able to connect to a monitor and keyboard while at home. I suppose it is like a Mac Mini, but with a built in monitor and keyboard.
    My questions are:
    1. How well will the 12" iBook run PhotoShop CS2, with 1.5GB of RAM? (Is the PowerBook 15" much faster?)
    2. Is the iBook more durable than the PowerBooks? I prefer the look of the PowerBook, since the iBook looks like a student laptop, but if it's more durable, I guess I can live with that.
    3. Is the 4500 RPM hard drive a big drawback compared to the 5400 RPM drives in the PowerBooks?
    I will mainly be using Adobe CS2, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft Office.
    Thanks for any help,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
    I have a 12" iBook G4 with 1.5gb of ram and I run the adobe creative suite just fine. The ram is definately going to help you in terms of running multiple CS applications at once.
    As far as the hard drive is concerned...of course a 4200rpm drive is going to be slower than a 5400. But I dont consider it to be too much of a drawback. Most of my work in CS is done with an external firewire drive spinning at 7200 anyway.
    As far as durability goes, i cannot comment on a powerbook as I have never owned one. I keep my iBook in an incase iBook sleve, its with me all the time and so far has been well protected. However, Powerbook or iBook...if you drop it..its going to get damaged in some way.
    Good luck with your decision.

  • Help comparing objects

    Hi,
    My java app's purpose is to find out if I must update my simulated framework if the real framework has changed ( interfaces).
    My app loads two jar files ( real framework and simulated framwork) and use bcel to make an static analysis of the classes ( bcel created 'JavaClass' to describe the class).
    In order to determine if the classes are equal i create a 'DataClass' object with the following information:
    className
    Field [] fields (bcel 'Field' not java.lang.reflect.Field)
    Method [] methods (bcel 'Method' not java.lang.reflect.Method)
    I retrieve the information from JavaClass and put it in my 'DataClass'.
    This is the code I use to create a Vector for each framework ( Listing 1). This is where I store the data describing my classes in the api (Listing 2). Then I compare each 'DataClass' contained in the Vector.
    My intention is to compare the 'data' of the 'DataClass'. But since I get that all DataClass objects are NOT equal I guess I compare references. How can I do this.
    All hints are vey much welcome.
    cheers,

        DataClass element = (DataClass) iter.next();
        String otherClassName = element.getClassName();
        if (className.equals(otherClassName)){
        dao = element;
    return dao;

    Your error is that you implement Comparable and the compareTo method instead of the equals method of Object class. Comparable is needed for ordering items. Equals instead is used to check if two objects are equal. Per convinience it is expected that there is no inconsistency if both equals and compateTo are implemented.
    So you should implement a method in DataClass:
    public boolean equals(Obejct o) {
      boolean result = false;
      if (o instanceof DataClass) {
        DataClass c = (DataClass) o;
        result = className.equals(c.className) &&
             fields.equals(c.fields) &&
             methods.equals(c.methods);
        // keep in mind here, that the arrays fields and
        // methods should be sorted / ordered. use Collections.sort(fields)
        // for this when you create or modify it
      return result;
    }You could also simplify the compare(Vector api1, Vector api2) method when you keep these Vectors sorted for className or use Set (what i dont recommand because of properbly performance drawbacks):
    public static void compare(Vector api1, Vector api2) {
      Collections.sort(api1, new ClassNameComparator());
      Collections.sort(api2, new ClassNameComparator());
      // you should possibly dont do this sorting here because the
      // method name does not state that the vectors are modified
      // but it's a precondition for make the following work properly:
      return api1.equals(api2);
    }i did not compile the code, so i hope i did not make many errors.

  • LIS &LO

    hi all ,morning
    1. what is difference between LIS & LO ?
    2. when compare to Lis , what is advantages & benefits in LO?
    3. could u tell me ,every time we stored data into setup tables,,,, i'm still confusing?
    4. why we delete setup tables?
    5.we delete only setup tables or else setup tables data?
    pls any one help me , thnks.

    Hi,
    If you have a suitable ready made business content datasource then we will go for Lo extraction .If ypu want to generate a datasource based on the requirements then we will go for LIS.
    In LIS all the historical will be stoored in information structure, and the delta records are posted to delta queue as well as the information structure.So the data is stored redundantly. Where as in lO historicaldata will be stored in setuptables and the deltas are posted to deltaqueue.
    In LIS you don't have the flexibility to extract the data to the level of infomation i.e  If you want to extract only  the header data of say salesorder you need to extract all the haeder, item and scheduler data. So unnecessarily you are increasing the volume of the data that is to be transferred to BW.  Where as in LO you can extract to the particular level of information.
    LIS use V1 & v2  updates to fill the deltaqueue which doesn't support background scheduling which degrades the performance of the application Whereas LO suppors V3 which supports backgroung scheduling.
    Coming to the setuptables we fill them only once to bring the historicaldata which is  stored in the database tables. If you run init or full you will get the data from the setuptables. deltaqueue collects the deltarecords and you run the deltaloads data comes from the deltaqueue.
    Suppose you added new fields to your datasource and you want to fill them , then you go for deleting the entire data from the setuptables and refill them .You will never go for deleting the setuptables.

  • Disadvantage on synchronous proxy compared to asynchronous proxy

    Hi friends,
          Please tell me any disadvantage on Synchronous Proxy compared to asynchronous proxy.
    My integration JDBC to PROXY and PROXY to JDBC. Inspite of using the proxy in syn mode i have used asyn proxy, now i have to give the proper answer y i have used asyn proxy, so please give me any drawbacks of syn proxy.
    Thanks in advace
    Karthikeyan

    Hi Karthikeyan,
    The main disadvantage of synchronous communication is for every request there should be corresponding response from the receiver, if for any reason receiver doesnt respond there will not be any further message processing. So, its better to go with asynchronous communication.
    Thanks,
    Bharath.

  • Upgrade LIS 3.1 on CentOS 6.5 to LIS 3.5

    Hi All,
    I have scoured the internet in every way I can think of and I can't seem to find a solution, though I can find people discussing the exact same problem.  Here is the basic issue.  We recently migrated all of our VM's (some of them Linux, all CentOS
    6.5) to a 2012R2 Hyper-V cluster (previously 2008R2).  When we did this we started seeing the following error in the event logs for the Linux VM's:
    Networking driver in VMGUESTNAME loaded but has a different version from the server. Server version 5.0  Client version 3.2 (Virtual machine ID 8FC4BE8B-0430-47FC-AE83-5E03829D2DF2). The device will work, but this is an unsupported configuration.
    This means that technical support will not be provided until this problem is resolved. To fix this problem, upgrade the integration services. To upgrade, connect to the virtual machine and select Insert Integration Services Setup Disk from the Action menu.
    The reason for this, as far as I can tell is that WHILE LIS (Linux Integration Services) is built into CentOS 6.5 it is version 3.1 of the LIS, NOT the latest version of LIS, 3.5.
    Unfortunately, the latest ISO Microsoft supplies of LIS contains no folder with an upgrade script intended for CentOS 6.4 or 6.5.  How are you supposed to upgrade the LIS in CentOS 6.4-6.5 to the latest version?  Will the upgrade script for the
    version on the ISO intended for CentOS 6.3 work?

    This error/warning in the event logs should be ignored.  See this KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2956569/en-us.  We're working to get this spurious warning removed in the vNext version of Hyper-V.
    Furthermore, the version number that you see for the LIS modules in CentOS 6.5 (version 3.1) should NOT be compared with the version number of the LIS package (LIS 3.5) that you can download from the Microsoft download center.  They are not the same
    thing, and should not be compared.  Your CentOS 6.5 image has the correct LIS, and you can see the Hyper-V features for CentOS 6.5 LIS in this documentation page on TechNet:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531026.aspx.
    The LIS 3.5 package downloadable from Microsoft is intended ONLY for use with the older Linux distros as listed in the above documentation grid.  It should not be applied to Linux distros that have the LIS built-in.
