Drawing Markups Without Pop-up Note

How can I use drawing markup tools in Acrobat Professional without having a pop-up note. I don't meant that I just want the pop-up note to stay closed unless I open it intentionally, I don't want a pop-up note at all, just the markups.
Thanks

You can hide annotations, but you don't have direct access to this property in Reader. You can use the Filter options in the Comments List to do it, but I don't think it will "stick", ie the next time you open the file they'll be visible once more.
With Acrobat you can embed a script in the file that will automatically hide some annotations when the file is opened.

Can not use all the tools in my drawing markups any ideas on getting them to work?

    Hi tonys60181,
Could you please let me know what version of Adobe Acrobat are you using.
What all drawing tools are you unable to access?
Is this issue specific to one PDF file or all?
What exactly happens when you try to use any drawing markup?
    Please let me know.

  • Trouble with Drawing Markups in Acrobat Pro XI

Hello all and thank you for any help that comes out of this.
I use Acrobat XI for several forms for work.  They are timesheets.  I created these forms from another PDF that was given to me.  Part of the use of these forms involves adding Drawing Markups and editing the Markups later.  The Markups in this case are simple lines.  In Acrobat 9, this was an easy task.  I could easily grab the Markups I had inserted and manipulate them any way I chose.
Now, in Acrobat XI, once I insert a line, I basically can no longer touch it without doing a very clumsy work-around.  Every once in a great while, I get lucky and am able to get my mouse over that one magic hidden pixel and then I can grab the Markup and do what I need.
It just seems much, much more difficult working with Drawing Markups in the new version.
Am I doing something wrong?  Is there an option I don't know about?
    Thank you in advance.
    Dave

    Gilad:
The only choices Acrobat XI gives me are the "Selection tool for text and images" and the hand-shaped "Click to pan around the document" button.
There is a "Tool Set" option under the View menu, but there is no "Interactive Objects" submenu.
Please note the image I have included of the toolbar that I am presented with in Acrobat XI. Does the button you are suggesting I use exist anymore?  I haven't seen it since Acobat 9 and I have scanned through menus and see no way to add another Selection Tool to the toolbar. If it does exist, please tell me how to turn it on.
    Thank you!

  • How can I add a Drawing Markup/Annotation to my stamp while it's being stamped?

I have created Dynamic Stamp and works perfect and its located in my user profile:
    C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Stamps\symbols.php
    And this works just fine...
Now I want to add a line to the stamp.
I want the user to introduce the length of the line using a response box (app.response)
For some reason when I try to add the line using:
    var new_line = this.addAnnot({
      type:"Line",
      page:6,
      points:[[36,373],[613,373]],
      width:2,
      style:"S ",
      strokeColor:color.black,
      arrowEnd:"None",
      arrowBegin:"None"
After this, the variable "new_line" is NULL, can somebody help me here?
So I cant add the line using JavaScript
Ironically when I try to create a field (text box) using JavaScript it works perfectly ....
    var oField=this.addField({
    cName: "info",
    cFieldType: "text",
    nPageNum: 6,
    oCoords: [ 20, 20, 1, 1 ]
    oField.value = "Hello World !!!";
I am able to insert the line manually when I open the stamp file in Acrobat and add the line under Comment->Drawing Markups->Draw Line. However I want the length of the line to be inserted by the user when the user applies the stamp... Can anybody help me here?

I added 4 annotations to the stamps (2 Lines, 1 Circle and 1 text box)
Then I tried to get the Annotation properties and still no good luck.
    The variable is NULL
    I used this script:
    var aAnnots = this.getAnnots(6);
    app.alert("There are: " + aAnnots.length + " annots");
Note: The scrip is in the "calculate" section of one of the field text of the stamp (Custom Calculation script)
Do you want me to send the stamp?

  • Can you define a specific size of a Drawing Markup rectangle?

    Hi all,
I am using Acrobat X and have been asked to find an answer to a 'problem' someone is having.
If you have a site plan of one's property and they submit it to me for comment (as a pdf file) can I draw a box to a specific size? Say I set the 'scale ratio' to what the drawing scale is, I go to 'comments' and from the 'Drawing Markups' pane I choose 'draw rectangle; square', I then draw a rectangle to represent a shed of a specific size. I can dimension how far the rectangle/shed is to be from the property lines and I can dimension the rectangle/shed but I have to play with stretching it to get it to my desired size based on the scale I set.
My question; is there anyway, when I am drawing the box, to either specify an x by y size or see the lenghts of their sides once I pick a corner and start to drag the box to the other corner?
If not, would there be a java script that could accomplish this task?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Sabian, I understand that Acrobat is not a vector drawing application and I have been using all those programs (illustrator, AutoCAD, CorelDRAW etc.) for the past 20+ years. It wouldn't seem too much to ask considering that I can set a scale to my page (in Acrobat) and I can get Acrobat to give me a dimension from point A to point B based on that said scale, so why couldn't I expect to put a rectangle markup based on that same scale?
As for the right tool? We are a municipality that is trying to make it easier for the public to submit applications online. Those submissions are in the format of a PDF because it is unrealistic to assume the everyone in the public has access to or can afford a program like AutoCAD or illustrator. Likewise it is too COSTLY to have everyone in the city have say 'AutoCAD' or even 'illustrator' to view the application documents to markup and send back.
I believe  In 1991, Adobe Systems co-founder John Warnock outlined a system called "Camelot"[3] that evolved into PDF (from Wikipedia) and it was a way to have an independent viewing format regardless of what software application created it. I truly believe that Acrobat for what it's initial intent was that it should incorporate some of these features as it only makes sense in an evolutionary sense. Not to be a 'drawing package' but in it's markup/comments palette to expand on them.
So keep your comments to 'no at this time acrobat does not allow this type of functionality but who knows in the future' and don't treat me as though I don't know anything about anything. In my decades of using these applications I have seen them evolve to include more functions and do more then when the product was originally released.
I will now go on and recommend that they seriously look at Bluebeam Revu as it is not only cheaper but it has a ton more functionality specifically designed for the needs as listed above working with PDF's (and bitmap images to boot). I was just wanting to cover all bases and give all programs a fair look.
Thanks again for your intuitive insight.

  • Cannot edit text in Drawing Markup Text Box

I cannot edit text in Drawing Markup Text Box after saving and closing the pdf file and then reopening it.  I go to add additional text in the Text Box, and nothing happens.
Hope you can lend me a hand,

    Adobe X Pro 10.1.4

In the previous print screen, the layer icon has a paintbrush in it. In the new menu page I cut and pasted the text is still 'text' layer. I am not able to format it other than change font color. I want to make it two columns of text like the original pdf, and change the font.

  • I am no longer able to rotate drawing markups

I am no longer able to rotate drawing markups - I am using Acrobat X 10.1.4. What happened to this function of drawing markups such as circles, lines, squares?

Neither of the shapes have fill.
Wait!  I thought that neither of these had fill, but the one I can manipulate has fill and when I added fill to the "after' shape I could manipulate it as I normally would.  So it appears that I am a moron and was not used to dealing with just the border path, but an acutal filled shape.
Sorry for the waste of time and thank you for the help!

  • Editing Pdfs using the Annotations and Drawing Markups

I regularly use the Annotations and Drawing markups on Pdfs on Mac to edit, but since updating to Adobe Reader 11 everything has gone haywire. The Pdf freezes constantly. Although I can still edit on screen, none of the Markup shows in the toolbar so I can't use it to review or navigate around the Pdf. I can't delete the Pop-ups or markup by right clicking as usual. The Save button in the top toolbar doesn't work - I have to go to the Drop down menu, which takes longer. It's impossible to close any Pdfs by clicking the red top left button - I have to go to the Drop down menu to close. It's hopeless! Any suggestions?

I have Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.9 and Mac OS X version 10.6.8. I wonder now if I have the right version ...

  • Drawing Markup and Annotations using Reader with Commenting-Enabled PDFs

I recently purchased Acrobat Standard to produce commentable PDFs for my contributors who use Acrobat Reader.
The page linked below says that I can use Acrobat Standard to "Manage shared reviews, collecting everyone's feedback in one PDF and letting reviewers build on one another's comments‡"
    Adobe Acrobat XI
I have used these features in the past with Acrobat Pro, but there wasn't any documentation that hinted at what appear to be limitations.  For example, using Acrobat Standard I can send a PDF for email review, but the only tools that my contributors can use with Reader are the sticky note and highlighter.  In the past, when I used Pro,  the whole suite of markup capabilities including Drawing Markup and annotations like strikethrough were available.
I have looked everywhere for information about how to enable these other commenting tools, but can't find anything.  Am I missing something or is this some misleading marketing materials that have led me astray.

You either need to upgrade to Acrobat Pro or the users need to upgrade to
Reader XI, where all of the commenting tools are available by default.

  • Acrobat drawing markups - how to bring them in Illustrator

    Hi,
On a document, there are drawing markups.
I would like to bring them in Illustrator.
I opened the PDF document with the markups in Illustrator, but markups were gone.
I tried to copy the markups from PDF and paste them in Illustrator but it does not work.
Is there a way, apart from Snapshot, to bring markups in Illustrator?
Thanks in advance for any help.

The markups are not drawing objects but annots/annotations.  They are a different type of object that Illustrator does not support natively.  Try this process.  In Acrobat, go to Tools>Print Production>Preflight>PDF Fixups> Flatten annotations and form fields
    Click Analyze and fix
    Save as a new name
Open that PDF file in Illustrator.

  • Snowy screen occurs without apparent cause - not likely a display problem

Sorry if this problem is posted elsewhere .... I couldn't find anything on my problem in these forums but am hoping someone can help.
When I would go to use my mac mini in the morning, occasionally I was met with a snowy screen (like when the cable goes out on your tv, but a finer, slightly more colourful graininess), with no apparent cause. It was happening about once every month and a half or so. I had to do a hard reboot (turn off by using the power button on back of mac mini) as there is nothing I can do to get past the snowy screen. It wasn't bugging me too much, but now, I have reformatted the machine (it has gone to a new user) and it happened within the first 2 days after reformatting and went to snowy screen 3 times i the same day!
I am fairly sure it is not a display issue as the machine is now hooked up to a different display that it was originally, and that display has not had issues in the 2 years I have had it.
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI - the machine does not get shut off at night, as there are backups that must run every night, but the monitor does go into sleep mode after an hour without use. Not sure if that helps ferret out the problem.
    e.

I am having the same issue with my month-old Mini. I've seen it twice now. The first time I freaked out and did a hard reboot. It just happened again a few minutes ago (which prompted me to look here), only this time I just powered my monitor off and back on (19" Samsung Syncmaster using Apple-provided MDP adapter), and the picture came right back up. So you're right, it's probably not the monitor. I think it's the adapter. Since it's a random problem I have no way of knowing if it will work next time, but it's worth a try. I might buy a Newer Tech adapter if it continues happening.
I've got to say, this is the flakiest Mac I've ever owned. I hear a LOT of pops through the connected speakers when switching/opening apps, even when it's sitting idle. It locked up the first two or three times I tried to boot it up.

  • Non active drawing markup features

several of my drawing markup icons are not active and I have the monthly subscription for Adobe Acrobat XI Pro through the creative cloud app.  Anyone know how to activate these features (it is the clouding feature, polygon feature and line drawing)

You probably just need to turn off Touch mode. There's a toolbar button for this as well as the following user preference: Edit > Preferences > Touch Mode > Never

  • Adding Comments-Annotations, Drawing Markups in a pdf on a windows mobile 7 or  8? ?

So there is mobile app for the Android, the iPhone and the iPad...........
but any news or talk about any app from Adobe to use pdfs on a Windows Mobile device such as the Windows 7 mobile eg. Nokia Lumina 900?
At least be able to add comments -Annotations &/or Drawing Markups ???- basic not all of them?
There is an Adobe Reader X, http://www.adobe.com/products/reader-mobile.html  but I could not find any information on Windows 7 mobile or Windows 8 mobile?
Another thought- if it works on iPad I guess it would work on iPad Mini or no???

On a 32-bit system, there is a workaround. I do not think it is possible to get AA7 to work on a 64-bit system (no one has reported success and only 1 has suggested success with AA8). You may be able to print to a PS file and then open that in Distiller. I suspect that is the only way and you will have to find a decent PS printer driver to do it. I suspect the printer driver (and associated AcroTray) will not work in a 64-bit Win8 -- Acrobat and Distiller may.
