Drawing tools as annotation

The drawing tools do not work well as annotation because of the automatic item selection when using tools. For instance, when using the pencil tool, it is not uncommon to accidentally select the markup when trying to cross a "t", dot and "i", or simply try to make corrections to the text (like add an "s" to the end of a word). If one would try to use the pencil tool to do freehand drawing, say of a face, it is likely that some of the mark would be automatically selected rather than the drawing continued. The problem with the selection is that it typically prevents the cross, dots, and other extra changes to the markup and usually leads to the user moving the markup across the screen as it is selected and the swiped (as the cross or other pencil move is made).
What is needed in the drawing tools is to turn off auto-selection (or make it an option) and add a select tool. I tried to use the object select tool, but it does not work on the markup. So one additional tool is needed in the drawing tools to select items and the auto-select should be removed. It would also be nice if a broad eraser was available in addition to the pencil eraser.

The first thing to try is deleting the AppleWorks preferences as in my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly If that doesn't work, post back & I or someone else will give it another try.

Drawing Markup and Annotations using Reader with Commenting-Enabled PDFs

I recently purchased Acrobat Standard to produce commentable PDFs for my contributors who use Acrobat Reader.
The page linked below says that I can use Acrobat Standard to "Manage shared reviews, collecting everyone's feedback in one PDF and letting reviewers build on one another's comments‡"

I have used these features in the past with Acrobat Pro, but there wasn't any documentation that hinted at what appear to be limitations. For example, using Acrobat Standard I can send a PDF for email review, but the only tools that my contributors can use with Reader are the sticky note and highlighter. In the past, when I used Pro, the whole suite of markup capabilities including Drawing Markup and annotations like strikethrough were available.
I have looked everywhere for information about how to enable these other commenting tools, but can't find anything. Am I missing something or is this some misleading marketing materials that have led me astray.

You either need to upgrade to Acrobat Pro or the users need to upgrade to
Reader XI, where all of the commenting tools are available by default.

Drawing tool behaviour in Flash CC

Hello,
I'm using Flash for about 10 years now, and recently use the new flash CC for my new projects.
I'm really disappointed with the new drawing tool. I mean, the new behaviour of the old brush tool.
What did you do to it ? it has always been hard to get the 'what you draw is what you get', with flash.
But now with that new version, it became almost impossible to draw correctly.
The strokes are awful.
And, worst, the behaviour of the arrow, when you want to adjust your splines, is also unpredictable, and unusable !
I'm not talking about the drawings you get when you draw inside a symbol which is rotated. If you never try it, just do it, you'll laugh... For such a professional tool, costing several hundred of dollars, I don't understand why you cannot rotate and draw in the symbol, and why, after so many years you never find a fix for that...
Why did you destroy that tool ???
And is it possible to get back the old drawing engine, maybe with an extension, or a fix ?

Unable to use other drawing tools

I am trying to learn flash and I am not able to use all of the drawing tools. Everytime I try to select the other tools from the list the box flashes and just dissapears so I am unable to select them. I have tried closing and reopening it and still nothing is there a way to fux this?

It's now also murdering my youtube too if I'm in a call, because somehow the audio encoding is screwing each other up, making it impossible to multi-task period... how lovely.

Why does my drawing tool go see through in onion skin mode?

I'm using CS6 photoshop as an animation software and I'm new to the process. When I try to draw on the next frame, the paintbrush draws in a see through colour.... as if the drawing tool itself has an onion skin.

Thanks for the response Rudegar, but I was under the impression that this could work (as explained to me by a Apple sales guy) when I bought the AirPort Express. (and yes I told him I had a Samsung laser printer ML-1915)
Is the AirPlay printer requirement only an issue when the AirPort Express is in server mode?
I thought I could just extend my network in Client mode from the AirPort Express.
So when it talks here about a "wireless print server" it is only referring to either a): ipad to AirPrint printers or b): Windows to any printer?

Is Apple going to support more printers anytime soon? Because I am happy that my 3 Windows laptops/PC can print wirelessly through Apple gear but kinda confused why my ipad will not play nicely.

CSS Styles Panel and DIV Draw tool

In Dreamweaver CS6 Creative Cloud, how do I access the CSS styles palate/panel and is there a DIV DRAW tool, or do you resort to the tracing tool to draw website layouts?

DW is not a graphics app. You cannot draw layouts on screen. You need to use CSS code to create the basic layout and HTML for your structure.
You may find it helpful to jump start your projects with one of the pre-built CSS Layouts in Dreamweaver CS6.
Go to File > New > Blank Page > HTML > Select one of the Layouts in the 3rd panel and hit the Create button. SaveAs filename.html.

Whats happened to the drawing tools?

Will drawing tools be added anytime soon?
My company has been using Adobe forms on Galaxy and iPad tablets for about a year . Having the ability to draw on .pdf forms has been key in their limited success. With the release of the surface pro 2 and windows 8.1 we were hoping that this product would save the day. So we bought a couple and started testing but right out of the gate we hit a game killer; No drawing tools in the Reader Touch.
Any one know when or if the drawing tools will be added in to the touch version?

Adobe Reader Touch does not support drawing tools as of November, 2013.
Adobe Reader Touch is a relatively new product for Windows 8/8.1. Although it shares the same core engine with Adobe Reader for iOS and Android, platform-specific user interface and functionality need to be implemented from the scratch. So it will take some time for Adobe Reader Touch to catch up with the features that are supported in Adobe Reader for iOS/Android.
Support for the drawing tools is on our feautre ToDo list. But we cannot provide any specific release dates.
As an alternative for now, you may be able to use Microsoft Reader (built-in PDF viewer) instead. Microsoft Reader provides forms support as well. With the Surface Pen included with Surface Pro 2, you should be able to draw on PDF pages.

Appearance panel menu > New art has basic appearance.

Drawing tools (pen, pencil, brush) wont keep style selection.

I can not seem to have any of the drawing tool (pen, pencil or brush) keep the stlye selection I assign to it. I have to KEEP going back to the line I just drew selcet is and assign the stlye to it once again. This makes for a VERY SLOW process/drawing. Any ideas where I can adjust the settings so that the style STAYS on the tool when drawing?

Go to the Appearance Panel and from the flyout menu uncheck New Art Has Basic Appearance and that should solve your problem. If in the future you need this not to work this way rememeber to check it again.

Created Graphics Using InDesign's Drawing Tools

Hello,
I Created Graphics Using InDesign’s Drawing Tools, but when I published to Kindle or EPUB, the graphics do not appear? All other raster images that are on the same page appear in Kindle Previewer. Is there a hidden button I must enable for Graphics created with InDesign’s own tools to get them to publish to Kindle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also tried exporting to EPUB format and the InDesign created images appear as drawn.
I conclude that have a Kindle ONLY related issue. (Tried in both PC Kindle and Amazon previewers).
I wonder what else can I try?

Flash is a very nice tool for animation on the web....
but the drawing tools also amaze me very much.............
the drawing tools (mode: object and not object)......
behave very unique.... the trims, union, etc, the align
(center, top, etc).... also new to me.....
In my opinion, the Corel X3 drawing tools are much common
sense to use....
So most of my vector drawing is done in Corel X3 and then
import (drag) to Flash....
Can someone show me the vector drawing tools in Flash

JSF/ADF Application Visual Drawing Tool Integration

Can any one recommend a visual drawing tool that can be integrated into a JSF/ADF application that is data aware (something like Visio)? I need to generate an UI with printed outputs that is very graphically rich and is based on underlying data. I believe I could use Viso's SDK but, would like to use a more Java friendly tool.

These concepts are quite long to ellaborate (a few chapters long on the Developer Guide :) ). Here are my thoughts about your questions, i'll try my best:
1) All queries to the database like this one you have to do through a View Object. In your project, you can select new -> view Object, and type in your SQL in the text area. In this particular case, you can do something like "SELECT * FROM user WHERE username = :uName". Then in the next screen you define a Bind Variable with the same name, in this case "uName". Then you have to create an Application Module in the same way (new -> Application Module), binding your new View Object to it. As soon as you do it, you will see that your Data Control Palette on the right side of JDev has a new entry. From there it's a matter of dragging and dropping the methods on the UI.
2) In a similar way, all updates to the DB go through View Objects. As you used the wizard, you will notice that there are some Entity Objects in your project, one for each table in the DB. You can create a View Object based on one or more Entity Objects to allow updates. Whenever you change any attribute on the VO that maps to an attribute in an EO this change is posted to the DB. This said, you can simply drag and drop the View Object from the Data Control Palette to your page and it will retrieve and update data.
There are tons of concepts behind all i said, this is only a glimpse of what ADF BC and Faces do. I recommend reading the Dev Guide that comes with Jdev, you can find it on the menu (help -> table of contents) and also do some tutorials (help -> start page) that are the simplest things you can do with ADF.

Several Bugs in Flash, drawing tools unusable now

So frustrating. It's clear Adobe won't do anything to fix their broken drawing tools in Flash, and every version is more broken and less useful than the previous one.
Glitches:
1. Pencil tool is jittery, inserts so many points and jagged parts that it makes it an unusable line. Pencil tool is on smooth setting at 100%.
2. So I moved to using the pen tool even though it's slower to my workflow, but when drawing with it moves points away randomly making every point broken in the segment. So both pencil drawing tools do not work at all.
3. When saving a file, after typing a letter it highlights the whole file name so if I keep typing it erases everything. Frustrating when saving several versions of a file.
4. When using outline onion skin mode, it turns all layers into outlines as well instead of filled in colors, making it impossible to see which is the onion skin and which is the drawing.
5. Flash randomly loses its display of all windows and I end up losing my work.
Technical info:
I am using the most up to date version of Flash Pro CC on a Windows 7 computer with an Intuos Pro tablet with driver Driver 6.3.11-4a.
I will not be using Flash anymore and will be migrating to Toon Boom and recommending all animation studios I work at to do the same. It's clear Adobe does not care about Flash as an animation tool with each broken update.

This has more to do with your tablet than Flash and #5. makes me think either your graphic card is going or you don't have enough memory to display what you're drawing. I draw at least 12 hours a day in Flash at least six days a week and never have these problems but then I have 24gb of memory installed and a 6 gb video card. What I'm saying is these aren't bugs so much as issues with your hardware. Maybe roll back your driver? Or it's just possible that your computer simply can't handle the vector calculations or that your tablet is too old to handle Flash. In any event I can't really agree this is an Adobe thing. Here's something I drew in Flash late last year and you can see my line is clean.

Pages as a drawing tool - cool trick

As an old MacDraw user, I miss a good drawing tool. Pages kinda got in my way when trying to lasso a bunch of objects to group them together. When you're in the middle of a text block, clicking causes an insertion point and interferes with selecting objects. "Help" tells you to go to the margin and drag across the page to select the objects.
I've discovered a workaround solution that might help some folk.
Open a blank document to use as your drawing palette. Insert a rectangular shape, fixed on the page, not causing wrap, and resize to cover the whole page, then LOCK it in place. You can work all you want without being bothered by the text behind the shape. Being locked, it will be selected, but not moved by the lasso motion. You may have to shift-deselect before grouping, but hey, it's a workaround.
Complicated, but try it and you'll see what I mean.

I'll have to check that one out, but I didn't want to spend any more money right now. Another that works very well as a MacDraw replacement is EazyDraw

4EA3 Bug - Relationship Drawing Tool

On the logical model, when I select the "identifying relationship" drawing tool, i draw one relationship and the pointer remains as a relationship drawing tool but it will not draw another relationship line. In addition, I can select or double click an entity but not a relationship while the pointer icon is a relationship drawing tool. I have to click the identifying relationship drawing tool again to be able to draw another relationship or click the arrow pointer to be able to select or double click a relationship line.

Yep, Ann has the band-aid solution. Unfortunately, it won't cure the disease but it does work to quickly get rid of the symptom.
You might also see this annoying behavior with other tools like offset brush cursors and the path tool. Same (temporary) fix - hit F a couple of times.
