Drawing with brush in Illo CS4

Hi All,
I was wondering when using the brush tool in Illo CS4, is there a way to see the line you are drawing, in real time as you draw it? All I seem to see is a hairline trace of the line I'm drawing, and then when I release the pen, the actual brush stroke is shown.
Many thanks,
P

Depends on what tools you are using.... Normal round brushes should draw immediately, but art and pattern brushes will not. It's an inherent limitation in how they work - they are not genuine strokes, just other vector objects conformed to a path. Since AI doesn't know how long the path possibly will be and how it curves, it cannot conform anything until the path is fully defined.

  • Paint bucket tool after drawing with brush tool

    Hi,
I am just wondering if there is anyway to paint using the paint bucket tool properly after drawing something using the brush tool. Although I have no gaps anywhere within the outline , there are times where the paint bucket tool doesn't paint.  Another issue I encounter is whenever I try to adjust the shape with the selection tool it either fills a portion of the shape with color and even sometimes makes the shape itself disappear.  Is there a way to only select a small portion of the drawing (like the way it is with pencil tool) as the shapes were done using a couple of strokes instead of just one.

    Hi,
You can use use paint bucket tool to change the color of lines drawn with brush. And to be sure that there are no gaps select the line with subselection tool because visually you cannot make out as the gaps are defined in pixels. Also you can select parts of fill region with selection tool if the painting with brush is done in shape mode not object drawing mode.Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Sangeeta

  • Problem with Brush + fill (gap) in 7 & cs4 (pic attached)

So starting sometime yesterday every time I draw with the brush (stroke a path), then fill it with the paintbucket there is always a gap between the fill and the brush. This is happening in 7 and cs4. See attached image  I've tried googling this problem but the search terms (brush, gap, fill) are too generic.  I've reset all photoshop settings and brushes in both 7 and cs4.  I'm lost, any help is appreciated.
in this screen shot you can see the gap between the brush and the fill, but there is no gap with filling a marquee.

I also tried brushes that include a hardness control slider in CS3. They all produce the gap following your technique even with the hardness setting maxed. I assume some anti-alias must be included.
On a whim, I tried a brush from the "square brushes" set that is included in Photoshop. I selected this set because it lacks a hardness control slider. This particular brush set produced no gap when using your technique. I assume there is no anti-alias built into brushes that lack a hardness control slider. My theory is that previously this is the type of brush you have used to stroke your boxes.

  • Drawing with a pencil = circles and rectangles

When I am drawing with a pencil, the line looks like the shape I want to draw, but when I stop drawing, the shape reshapes to another shape whick looks like circles and rectangles = it does not look like the shape I wanted to draw. What is the problem?

at the bottom of the tools panel click the pencil mode icon and choose ink or, use the brush tool if you want no adjustment to your drawing.

  • Drawing with the Pen tools

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-73a0a.h tml

Correction: same issue -- pen tool drawing shows up only on the digital image on the screen. Not when printed. Well sounded like a good theory.
Problem remains: how to get pen tool drawing, made on photographs, to print.

Curt, believe I found the answer:
Create a new blank page, the size of the photograph to be worked on. The blank page is what the pen tool responds to only.
Add the photographic image to the new blank page (same size).
Now you can use the pen tool over the photographic image. When finished drawing, flatten the image with drawing, and print.

Perhaps you are talking about stroking the line?
Set the color and size with brush, then in Path window click on Stroke Path with Brush.

  • Drawing with touchpad

    Hello, fellow friends!
Moments ago, I first time tried to install Adobe Photoshop on MacBook (Mac OS X v10.6.6). I downloaded Photoshop CS5 trial, installed it, and everything worked almost okey, but I have a problem, which I don't get clear: When I draw something with brush, it goes like shift is pressed, and I can't draw nothing else, than straight line. I don't know, how to explain, but on Windows, if you press Shift, it draws straight line, but here - even nothing need to press.
As I don't have mouse, I'm using touchpad, but I don't know, if this makes any difference.
    Please help me with this

    Try resetting tools .

  • Delayed live screen drawing with tools in Photoshop. Video driver update?

Delayed live screen drawing with tools in Photoshop CS5 on my iMac running system 10.6.7.
Hi there. Recently, I've been having issues with the tools. There's a distinct DELAY in the live drawing. For example, if I open a random image, take the pencil, paintbrush, or even eraser tool, and I draw a large line across the image, I don't see anything. If I zoom in or out 1 click, I see the line. If I draw ANOTHER line, same thing - I need to zoom in or out to see it. With all of the tools. I've never had this issue before and it's incredibly frustrating (that might be an understatement as you can imagine - I use PS daily as I am a full-time designer.) Any ideas or solutions? I've already TRASHED my preferences and reset the tool. If it IS a driver issue (which is weird, because this issue just recently started happening) I contacted the driver manufacturer (AMD) and was told:
"Unfortunately, Apple does not authorize us to release drivers for their products.
All drivers are provided to Apple who then customize and release them to their customers.
You will need to contact Apple to obtain the most current drivers for your product."

You are correct - only Apple can deliver display drivers to you.  That's what you get with a Mac as Apple wants to be your "one stop shop" for support..
Just curious:  Are you painting with large brushes and very small Spacing values?  That can cause some delay, though it normally catches up on its own - you don't have to do anything to make it happen.
Have you tried disabling OpenGL Drawing in your Photoshop Edit - Preferences - Performance menu.  Restart Photoshop after making that change and before testing.

  • Brush Problems in CS4

I have been using CS3 hapilly for quite a while and recently upgraded to CS4. (I have not yet deleted CS3 until I am sure of CS4) I am having problems with brushes that I either created myself or have downloaded over time. These brushes work perfectly well in CS3 and load and work OK in CS4 BUT after I have finished using a particular brush I cannot change back to any other tool or even to a different brush in the same set. it is as if once selected the brush is 'frozen' on the cursor. This is not happening with the brushes supplied with CS4 - (the usual basic stuff) - only with brushes I have created/downloaded for use in CS3.
I have re-set the preferences file at the request of Adobe but that did nothing. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't fancy having to re-configure all my brushes I have several hundred!!
I am using Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005 on an HP Pavillion laptop.
I have 2048MB DDR2 SDRAM (2 Dimm) and an nVidia GeForce Go 7600 with 256MB DDR (dedicated) graphics card.

If the cursor is the only problem, my guess is that you haven't updated your video card drivers.

  • What is the easiest way to wrap photos with text in ps CS4?

What is the easiest way to wrap photos with text in ps CS4?

InDesign handles text much better that either Illustrator or Photoshop.
In InDesign there is more than one way to put a frame around a paragraph:
Select the text frame, go to Object menu - Text Frame Options and set the Inset Spacing to keep the text away from the frame edge.
Then select the text frame with the selection tool (black arrow) check the Fill/Stroke icon at the bottom or the tool box and make sure the Stroke is selected, and choose a Stroke width from the tool bar at the top of the screen.
Or you can do it a quick and dirty way by just drawing another frame and place it on top of the text frame. Give this frame a Stroke and make sure the Fill is set to None.
I selected both frames in this example simply to show that they are two separate frames. The first method (above) only produces one frame.
Your original question was regarding text wrap, the third example shows text wrapping around the photo.
Place or type your text. Place your image and go to the Window menu - Text Wrap. You can set the Offset margins individually to keep the text away from the edge of the image.
For things like this InDesign is definitely the best way to go.

  • 64 bit Lightroom 2.5 work well with 32 bit Photoshop CS4?

Anyone know if 64 bit Lightroom 2.5 works well with 32 bit Photoshop CS4?  Any problems or conflicts?  Or should I stick to 32 bit Lightroom 2.5?

It works fine, but the default will be to use the 64bit version of CS4 (which is also installed along with the 32bit version).
If you want to use the 32bit version of CS4 the easiest way is to open the 32bit CS4 before sending files from LR. I only have a few plugins that don't have 64bit versions, so I mostly use the 64 bit version of CS4, but occasionally I do use the 32bit version and that's how I do it.

  • F4v encoded with Adobe media encoder CS4 (longer than 71 minutes)

Hi I don't know if this is the correct place for this post. So apologies me if this is the wrong place.
Encoding with Adobe Media Encoder CS4 (4.2.0.006 and 4.0 too)
Source: MOV (DVPAL) longer than 71 minutes
    Dest: F4V (H.264)
Result: freezed frames and only plays audio at 01:11. Media Player goes crazy and starts showing some diferent parts freeze frames.
In Quicktime crashes, in VLC the same of MediaPlayer. Sometimes the audio starts to downsampling and sounds like the pitch goes down.
Totally agree with this other post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/580391
    (extract)
I recentlly encoded afew F4V using Adobe Media Encoder Cs4.  MOst of them are working properly but I don't know why, all of my video that are longer than 71 minutes seems to have trouble playing back.  They all Freeze when they reach 71 minutes or if I navigate pass this point.
    thanks and help us please!
    Kik

    Thanks for the interest.
I'll try to explain all details:
    MacPro 1.1 (mid 2006) under Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Darwin 8.11.1 kernel)
System files: journaled HFS+ and a unix based NAS (under samba connection)
I have all material on the NAS and also I make the transcoding over it. Is a simple mov containing DV PAL WIDE interlaced 25fps with stereo audio. typical settings with nothing out of DV PAL standard.
The version of MediaEncoder CS4: 4.2.0.006 (it happens with older versions too)
    The settings of MediaEncoder are:
    Audio: AAC stereo 44,1 kHz
Video: F4V. MainConcept H.264, fps like source, profile high, level 4,1. CBR compression.
The problem only appears with videos longer than 71 minuts. At 01:11 starts with crazy problems. It seems like the player have some read or problems.
Tell me if you need some other kind of information.
    thks

  • Drawing with Asterisk

does anyone know how to draw with asterisk on an applet? i am writing a program that asks a user for a size of a square and then draws the square on an applet using asterisk.

    TextArea.Insert("******",10);

  • Drawing with mouse

    Hi everybody,
I'm making a drawing application, everythings looks and works ok, except for one thing...
My mouse cursor is hidden and a paintbrush like cursor follows it. This cursor is a movieclip, because the user chooses a color, and the tip of this paintbrush changes to the selected color.
So far so good. But there's one problem... when I draw to the left the line is drawed with no problem, but when I draw to the right, the line is interrupted, and I don't understand why.
I made one experiment, and with no movieclip "attached" to the mouse cursor, the line is drawed with no problem, both to the right and left.
I'll give you the code that manages this feature, in hope that someone can help me on this.
    Thanks for your time...

You're wright... it is here. The boardOut function is called too soon, but funny thing is that, if I don't have a movie clip following the mouse, it works OK. If there's a MC the mouse calls boardOut early, when the drawing movement is to the right.
To the left the movement has no problem

  • Drawing with a custom profile stroke is not working for me. Does it work for you?

Drawing with a custom profile stroke is not working for me. Does it work for you?
I can only apply it on an existing stroke but can't draw a new one with the selected profile. In fact if I change the profile to other than the default Uniform I also can't draw a new stroke with any other width than the default 1 point. This doesn't seem normal.
    Using SC5 on a PC.

Another question on the same topic.
Once I add a new profile to the list is it possible to put it on top of the list. I need this because the Adobe people decided to put the list in a tiny scrollable window with only a few of the first profiles showing. If there is noting in the interface may be I have to modify some program files settings?
