Draytek 2710 issue

Ok, this is driving me nuts. For months I've been having DNS issues, connected but sites not resolving. Decided to let BT send me a HH3 to try, plugged it in and not had any problems since.
Thought today I'd try the Draytek again as I like to have two SSID's and to be able to hide one of them. This is the 2nd draytek I've used on this line, the first one suffered the same problem so bought this new one. So, plugged it back in, connected etc, with 2 mins DNS issues started again. Draytek has latest firmware and everything else on it works perfectly.
Do BT lines know which equipment you are using or something?? I have used Draytek for years and never had any issues, this all started last year with the exchange being upgraded to ADSL2.
I don't mind using the HH3 but would prefer the Draytek due to above capabilities, I have reset it too factory too but it still does it.
Both are plugged into the master socket, ie the one behind the face plate and there is not other equipment on the line.
Any ideas, anyone??
Thanks

Well I stupidly decided to try the 2750n with the 1.5.2 RC 3 firmware and it instantly dropped my ip profile by 7Mb, my download speed decreased by the same 7Mb and my upload went from over 9Mb to 4.5Mb.
Not looking good at all.
Switched back to BT gear and my ip profile is approx 1Mb less than it was before, download and upload are back to almost the same as they were before trying the 2750n again.
I guess the Draytek just doesn't like my line for some reason and it looks like it will be getting sold unless Draytek can figure out what is going on with it.

  • BT Broadband with non BT Home Hub

As of yesterday, or maybe even the night before, our broadband (and BT vision) which has been working perfectly for months, no longer works with a Thomson TG585 router.  I have a friend with the same setup and they also now have the same problem.  Using the normal BT home hub, works fine, so I know there is nothing wrong with the connection itself.
Have BT done anything to their network to stop non BT routers connecting to it?  Or added passwords etc to the ADSL authentication as there has never needed to be one.
I know the username in the ADSL should be set to [email protected] with a blank password, and the router gets an IP address, but there is no connection going through.  Pinging google DNS 8.8.8.8 doesn't work either, so I know it isn't a DNS issue.

Bt website say on this issue"............Sorry, we can't provide support for equipment you've bought from other suppliers. If you are having problems with equipment purchased from another supplier, please consult the manual or user guide supplied with the equipment or contact the vendor for advice. Hints on configuring a non-BT router You need to ensure that your router is configured to work on ADSL lines in the UK. Within your router's settings you will need to input a telephone number or VPI/VCI standard. In both cases you should check that this is set to 0,38. Most ADSL routers supplied for sale in the UK will be pre-set to this. You also require your BT Broadband username. This was given to you at the time you orderd broadband and is usually made up of [email protected] where 'your' equals your first name and 'name' equals your surname, for example [email protected] BT Broadband does not require that you enter a password to connect, but some routers won't connect to the Internet without a password. If this is the case, enter the word BT....... I have similar issue to solve tomorrow as I just bought a draytek 2710 to replace my hh3. Bob

Anyone able to tell me if i can get any log files from the BT infinity kit so i can see when it drops a connection, and what its reporting?
My draytek 2850vn allows this, so I want to compare with the BT kit to see if its a line issue or draytek modem issue
    any advice appreciated.

  • Home Hub 5 as NAS via USB

Hi all, I spent ages searching for this and couldn't get clear info
    Ext3 file system IS supported
1TB HDD plugged into Homehub 5
Formatted to NTFS gave 1Meg Upload/Download Speed
    Formatted to Fat32 gave 2Meg Upload/Download Speed
Formatted to Ext3 gives 4 Meg Upload/Download Speed
I'm led to believe that this is because Ext3 requires less CPU power, it also allows larger files than Fat32.
Downside is you lose the plug and play of NTFS/Fat32

Hi, Just got a HH5 today.
Coming from Virgin Media using their SuperHub, I'm used to using modem only, then using my Draytek router to provide WiFi and routing. The Draytek used to get the external IP address.
Seems you can't choose modem only mode on the HH5.
So what I've done is to modify the DHCP scope on the HH5 to assign 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.5 addresses, leaving my Draytek to issue DHCP addresses on 192.168.1.x, I also changed the HH5 main IP address to 192.168.0.254.
I then connected my Draytek WAN port to port #4 on the HH5.
This allocated 192.168.0.2 to my Draytek (.1 was my laptop).
I then disabled the HH5 firewall and also created a custom port forwarding rule as follows:
Name: ANY-ANY ports 1-65535 Translated to 1-65535, this was then assigned to the Draytek device on 192.168.0.2
I also assigned my Draytek as the DMZ device.
This has effectively opened up the HH5 to allow everything to be directed to the Draytek.
To VPN in, I just need to know the external IP on the HH5.
    So far so good.
Speed test at 70M down and 19 M up, wirelessly via the Draytek.
No complaints from the wife or kids either... time will tell.
    Not tried Xbox yet.
Any other suggestions / better ways from anyone appreciated.
    Cheers

  • Time Machine FTP

    Hi
I am thinking of getting a Macbook Pro when Snow Leopard is released but my question is regarding Time Machin. I am getting a Draytek 2710 and a 1 TB hard drive via the USB port on it. The hard drive would be accessed via FTP. Would it be possilble to use Time Machine with the FTP server?
    Thanks a lot

No body here can speak for what Time Machine under Snow Leopard will do; however, currently, Time Machine is only supported on a Time Capsule, an external drive connected to a Mac running Leopard, or a drive connected to an Airport Extreme Base Station.
There are hacks to make some network drives work. It certainly won't work over ftp. It must be afp (Apple Filing Protocol).

  • Draytek Vigor 2750n Connection Issues

    Guys,
    After searching the forums I chose to purchase a Draytek 2750n from BB for a replacement for my BT Infinity kit, however for the life of me I cant get the Draytek to connect to Infinity; I've followed the below guide and have had no luck;
    http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb/kb_vigor_v2750_setup.html
I've tried all username conventions, my BT Yahoo email and password, [email protected], with a "space" as a password, [email protected] with a "space" as a password with no luck.  I can see the initial VDSL2 sync and with a profile of 17a however the Draytek constantly shows Idle > Handshake > Training.
I did notice that the Draytek time was set to 1970!! could this be the issue?
Infinity was recently placed live in my area with one of the smaller slimline cabs, is there anyway that the cab can only be accepting connections from the Openreach Modem? Can any BT forum guys advise?
Can anyone share any experiences they've had, I'm at a loss and dont want to return the modem
    Cheers,

  • Draytek 2750 Setup Issues

Posted similar in the broadband speed forum - this is probably a better place.
Just installed Draytek 2750n, everything fine apart from upload speed.
My upload speed is very low compared to the 6Mb I was getting - when I run speedtester I'm getting about 2.5Mb.
Looking at stats the SNR in upstream 2 shows a s zero? What is this as the downstream seems OK.
Is it a setting that's wrong in Draytek?
Secondary question is that Draytek is configured with an ID of 101 for Infinity. In the HG612 modem there was two PTM showing as 1.101 and 1.301. What are these?

    Hi MAD_Zoiderberg
I think the reduction in upload speed is due to the change from 8c to 17a on your cabinet rather than the use of a new modem router.
The Draytek uses the same Broadcom chip as the HG612 modem so should have very similar performance although there maybe some differences due to the software.  Your stats do indicate a very long line to the cabinet of at least a mile.  If you read this post  you will see Bald_Eagle1 reports a drop in upstream speed in going from 8c to 17a which is probably a trade off for higher download speeds. His line is long and problematic - do a search and you can read lots about his search for higher speeds - but shows similar stats from his HG612 modem that you get from the Draytek.
It is not suprising that you loose more upload than download as 17a uses higher frequencies IIRC. If there are HR faults or poor quality cabelling on your line as Mr Eagle suspects on his you will loose the highest frequencies first. You will notice he has only 2 upload bands like you rather than the three a shorter line has. I suspect the 0 is a reporting anomally which should show as n/a. The HG612 has a few reporting oddities so it would not be strange if the Draytek was the same.
I fitted a Draytek over Christmas and find its performance is excellent but I also get variable upload results from Speedtest.net but I had that when I used the HG612/HH3 combo. The practical difference between a 5 and 6 Mb/s upload should be minimal in normal use so I would not worry if your connection is stable and you should be getting a few extra Mb/s on the download.

  • Imac freezes during start-up. Seems to be caused by Airport issue.

My Imac freezes during startup. I have tried starting it in safe mode without any luck. After the initial start sequence when it gets to this point: Airport linkup en1, the computer starts writing the same line endlessly: com.apple.launch [1] (com.apple.mDNSRsponder [2710]): posix_spawnp (“/usr/sbin/mDNSResponder”,...): No such file or directory
I am not a technician and new to Macs too. I have tried almost everything in the supportfile about freeze issues. I am not able to start the Mac in safe mode. I have repaired the disk. I have tried reinstalling the software, but this fails too.
Did a couple of changes on the timecapsule before it happened (creating a network and new security settings and backup settings) and installed Photoshop Elements 9 and did a lot of file restructuring. Left the computer open and came back to a blue screen. Since then I have been unable to start.
My macbook works fine with the changes. I am stuck - what to try now?
I need my files and they are luckily on the timecapsule, but i am not able to open the imac-bundle file on the macbook, why?
    Thanks for helping.

did a lot of file restructuring.
In Finder>Go>enter /usr/sbin do you see mDNSResponder listed there?
Try Repairing Permissions for the Volume in Disk Utility (Note: may take a long time in 10.5.8)

  • PhotoSmart 2710 Printer Feeder cannot handle more than one page at a time

     1. Product Name and Number -> Photosmart 2710 Wireless All in One Printer
     2. Operating System installed (if applicable)  -> OSX 10.6 / 10.7
     3. Error message (if any)  -> None
     4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred -> None
My printer works fine except that the paper feeder has difficulty feeding more than one sheet at a time.  When I put a stack of more than one sheet of paper in the feeder tray, the printer might successfully print one or two pages, but then pages will overlap (top of printed page is on one sheet, bottom on another or multiple sheets will be grabbed at the same time so only the first sheet gets printed and the others are blank.
I do mostly standard office paper printing so no real experience with heavier pages.  I get my paper from Office Supply stores, like Staples, and brand does not seem to make a difference.  Have had same experience with Store Brands, National paper company brands and have even used HP branded paper with same results.
I have no problems when I manually feed individual sheets to the printer  So I have essentially a single sheet printer.  Any help appreciated.
    Thank You

  • Exchange 2013 Mail Receiving Issues

    Hi everybody,
Yesterday I configured a new DC and Exchange on Hyper-V (Server 2012 and Exchange 2013)
All functions and rolls are configured and installed but i am having issues receiving external e-mails.
Almost all of the external mails are being deliverd a half hour to a hour after being sent.
To start of on the first level.
I got a Siemens Fiber modem with an external address connected to the WAN of my Draytek 2995 router.
Alle the needed ports are forwarded to the Draytek (80,443,25,1723).
The Draytek DHCP function is set to off.
    192.168.168.2  (DC) -> 80 (HTTP IIS)
    192.168.168.2 (DC) -> 1723 (RRAS)
    192.168.168.3 (Exchange) -> 25 (SMTP)
    192.168.168.3 (Exchange) -> 443 (SSL)
My Draytek router is connected through LAN1 to a HP switch (unmanaged).
The physical server has 3 NIC's, all of these are connected to the HP Switch
I Disabled Hyper-V Queuing on the NIC's because this causes an issue with slow network connections.
The network has been configured as following.
I configured the Server 2012 R2 on the hardware(physical server) with only the Hyper-V roll.
NIC1is setup for the physical server,
    IP Address: 192.168.168.1
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.168.254 (Draytek address)
    DNS: 192.168.168.254 (Draytek address)
The Server software firewall has been set to a private network through the local security policy.
    I have setup 2 VM's through the Hyper-V roll.
The first VM is the Server 2012 R2 Domain controller.
For this VM I created a virtual switch connected to my second NIC(2).
I unchecked the box where my host can communicate with the NIC(2).
The DC has been configured as following:
    Hostname: SERVER
    IP Address: 192.168.168.2
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.168.254
    DNS: 127.0.0.1
I can ping to all the adresses from this server (internal and external).
The server has been promoted to domain controller with the following rolls.
ActiveDirectory, Certificate Autohority, DHCP, DNS, RRAS, RDP.
Alle these rolls have been set and working. (all have been tested)
DHCP has all options configured (scope, router-192.168.168.254, dns-192.168.168.2)
A DNS simple and recursive test work fine.
I did no configuration on the DNS after the DC PROMO.
So i created users in the AD.
After that I created a second VM, this one is used for the Exchange.
I setup a second virtual switch connected to NIC3 and installed Server 2012 R2 with the following config.
    Hostname: SERVER
    IP Address: 192.168.168.3
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.168.254
DNS: 192.168.168.2 (pointing to the DC)
I joined this server to the domain, everything is working fine.
Both servers have internet and network.
Running portscans on 1723 and 80 all work like a charm.
No its time to install Exchange.
I ran all the prerequisits and PowerShell commands (IAcceptLicense. etc.)
Installed de needed API and filters.
Installed Frameworks 3.5 on both servers.
And the Exchange installation was succesfull.
    CU3 is also installed.
I configured the send connector, accepted domains etc.
Created all needed certificates (self signed)
Did a portscan on 433 and 25 and they work.
All the hosting records are set mail.domain.nl etc. and MX records.
I created inboxes for the users and was able to connect them to the users in the Active Directory on the DC without any problems.
Connecting through the internet to OWA works perfect and i can login with users.
Sending e-mail internally works perfect, the messages are being deliverd in an instant.
Sending e-mail externally also works perfect, i receive mails in a few seconds on a person email address.
But when i reply or send e-mail to my new Exchange it can take up to hours to receive the mails!
I did online SMTP checks and e-mail checks, the all come out like it should.
One message from MX TOOLBOX on the SMTP:
    SMTP Transaction Time
8.408 seconds - Not good! on Transaction Time
I have nog other receive connectors setup, just the standard connectors.
So i got into the Exchange ECP and under "server" i setup the DNS to listen to 192.168.168.2 (DC).
I've read that when this is set to all ip addresses it can cause mail delay, but no luck.
I ran the best practices analyzer and get about 23 errors and 20 warnings.
A lot of services are unhealt like the "ExchangeTransport).
I have no idea what is causing the issues and read almost every forum.
Does anyone have a clue what is going on?
Did i miss something, is there a misconfiguration?
    Best regards,
    Tim

The mailserver did not receive any e-mails in this timespan, it was not an issue with the connector to the user mailboxes.
The internal e-mail also works flawless.
The entire Exchange server just not received this mail in time.
I sent an e-mail from my personal accout with the option in my outlook to receive a delivery-reply.
I got the reply as soon as the mail was deliverd, this took about a half hour to a hour.
After you asked me about the firewall, i got a hunch..
It had to be on the incomming connection, so i checked every single firewall on the network and disabled them.
    Still the same problem...
But there was still one ethernet device that could have a firewall, the internet modem!
This ATM modem receives multiple external IP's from the ISP, so I figured there was no firewall on this device. (Just like all the cable modems that are deliverd in our area by Ziggo(ISP).
But I was wrong, there was a firewall enabled on the modem!
All the ports in the modem had been forwarded but somehow the modem-firewall filtered the traffic,
creating the issue on the incomming e-mail.
I disabled the firewall and all the external e-mails are being received in an instant!
Re-enabled all the software firewalls on the servers and re-enabled the malware filter through powershell, after these steps I did another test, and everything still works like a charm!
Many thanks for your help Kjartan!

  • Is there a Wholesale issue with Infinity 2?

So I've been on Infinity Unlimited for a few months and was getting constant 35-36mbps down and 7-8mbps up with latency of around 20-21ms (Draytek 2750n synced at 40/10). A couple of weeks ago I reviewed my package and as part of this I was advised that I could get the free upgrade to Infinity 2. I went through the process and the expected speeds were 55.6mbps down & 18.0mbps up.
So Friday I got an eMail telling me that the upgrade had been completed. Restarted the Draytek 2750n and it was syncing at 67/20, looking good. Initial speed tests were also promising and although quite up & down I was getting up to 60mbps down & 12.5mbps up. Then it all started to go downhill. Very random speed results, high pings up to 50ms, slowdowns and complete halts.
Fast forward to today, speedtest.net indicates 18-28mbps down & 5-8mbps up with a ping of 20-50ms!!! Even the BT speed tester came back with 9mbps down and a couple of meg up!!!
To say I'm disappointed would be a bit of an understatement. I feel duped, especially as I was considering a great offer from Virgin. What is everyone else's experiences? I know a co-worker whom also has the same issue, I'm starting to feel as though there is a wholesale issue with this so called "Infinity 2". I would also suggest that I've been misold this product, it is attaining nowhere near what it should be. I'll wait for the 10 days and then report back.
In the meantime I'll also investigate any local issues that could cause this. I want my speed back.

Just done a test on broadbandmax.co.uk which shows 50.8/14.9
and speedtest.net and showed 14.6 up and 15.7 down with a ping of 10ms
I can't even get the BT one to work!!!
Although my profile says 76/20 I'm not even sure I've been "upgraded" anyway????
I had the same thing with Madasafish about 5 years ago. I was getting a steady 2Mbps and they "upgraded" me and the speed dropped to 1Mbps. They said "...that's all your line can provide...blah blah blah" to which I replied "but I've been getting 2Mbps for over a year....." They of course weren't interested so guess what?...........
    .....I went with someone else.
The mods on this site must be getting peed off with us plebs hassling them about this.
Maybe they can pass it up the chain to those in their ivory towers to earn their keep and either get this sorted or at least admit there's a problem.

    Please help.
    Thanks,

With the 2710 printing via the USB cable we know the class driver is available on the computer. I want you to have Windows Defender disabled, you can enabled it once the printer is added.
Remove the USB connection and restart the computer.
Open Devices and Printers then click Add a printer.
Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer then select your 2710 (if the 2710 does not display in this list the printer is not being seen over the network and will have to be setup on the network again)
Under Manufacturer select HP then under printers look for and select your 2710 (it may display as 2700)
Finish the install and try to print.
Let me know if this helped.

    Hi Dean
By the look of it you've got the type B version of the HH3 with current firmware.
    From http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13073
The latest versions of the firmware are:
    BT Home Hub 3 – Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A) or V100R001C01B031SP09_L_B

I understand that you are looking to use the Photosmart 2710 with Windows 8.1 RT, but are unable to locate a driver. In my attempt to locate a driver I have come up empty handed. It appears that this printer is not supported for printing from Windows RT.

  • Will the 2710 all-in-one printer be supported by windows 7? works on xp, will it on windows7?

Is the 2710 all-in-one printer supported/compatible to Windows 7? It was on a XP, however hard drive is crashing and need to see if I may need to buy another all in one printer or able to keep my 2710.

HP recommends that you use genuine HP cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP cartridges, or refilled HP cartridges.
Well that being said about the cartridge, I would try a power reset like this:
With the power on, open the ink access door. Remove the power from the printer. Remove the ink cartridge and close the cover. Wait at least 30 seconds then reconnect the power cord to the printer. Turn the printer on. Open the access door and insert the cartridge. That may clear up the issue, if not well.......
