DreamSpark: Error Unpacking Windows 8 x64 .sdc file

I get the following error when I try to download Windows 8 from the DreamSpark site.
I sent an email to DreamSpark support and they said to post here. I’m currently running a Windows 8 Release Preview.
Things I’ve tried based on other similar sounding issues on the forum:
Re-downloading “Microsoft_Windows_8_Professional_64-bit_(English).exe”
Tried from another machine (Windows 7 Pro)
Booted cleanly (only MS services started)
Disabled firewall/anti-virus
Plugged my ethernet cable directly into my cable modem to bypass potential router issues
Changed download locations
Tried to download at 4AM EST to hopefully maximize bandwidth
Just looking for more suggestions or alternatives before this eval version expires.

solution for unpacking error
1.open .sdx file in notepad ...
2.copy all and paste it in the address bar of your browser and open it.
3.go to source of the file and locate http://software.dreamspark.com/dreamspark/ENGLISH/********************.01.sdc
and
http://software.dreamspark.com/dreamspark/ENGLISH/************.02.sdc
4.download these 2 files using your downloader.
5.open cmd and switch to the location where you downloaded the files  and type " copy /b *******.01.sdc+******.02.sdc
03.sdc ".
6.open secure download manager start downloading your software when downloading starts go to the location where your software
is downloading .... you will find the file ************.sdc now change the name of  the 03.sdc file with the name of the file in download folder now close secure download manager.
7.Delete file which is in download folder and place file you renamed (****.03.sdc) in download folder.
8.restart downloading your software with SDM it will work and it will not give unpacking error i tried it 100% successfull.

  • Disk I/O Error on Windows 7 x64

    Hi,
I am recieving the Disk I/O error as of last week.
I have looked and tried all explanations on here: quitting and restarting skype, deleting the bits-and-bobs you're told to delete in the appdata folders, and uninstalling/reinstalling and updating to the new version of Skype.... NOTHING works!!
I haven't made any recent changes to my computer (to my knowledge).
    I am running Windows 7 x64
    Please help.

Thank you so much for your help ruwin  I also kept getting the "Disk I/O error". It only started happening tonight. I had read other things to do - tick "show hidden files, folders, and drives" which I already had ticked. I uninstalled and reinstalled skype. This also did not work. Luckily I found your comment, and it worked! I tried deleting the DbTemp folder, but when I logged into skype it still came up with the error. So I uninstalled my version again, and installed the older version like you said. So thanks heaps, I now have it working again on my laptop. I guess it was just the update, as I had the 6.9 something version on it. I knew it wasn't a problem with my actual "Skype", as it still worked on my iphone. So I figured it had to be a problem with the laptop version. You just saved me a visit to the computer shop  Thanks again!

  • MDT 2012 'Failed to save Environment to (80070057) Error during Windows 7 x64 Pro Deployment

    Hi There,
I've been using MDT for a little while now, but I'm having problems successfully deploying an image to a batch of new laptops. The laptop HDD's are completely blank, and I am PXE booting using an x64 Litetouch Image via WDS. I have successfully captured
my image from a reference laptop (the same model that I'm trying to image), and I am now trying to deploy it using a standard client task sequence.
The 'Install operating System' phase seems to go ok, but then sits for quite some time at the 'Applying Unattend.xml' stage, then eventually, I get a general error 'Task Sequence Failed - 80004005'. I then exit MDT (it doesn't reboot as it should), and let
the laptop boot, which it does, and logs straight on into Windows, but gives me error along the lines of 'can't find the litetouch script', which I assume means MDT hasn't been able to copy it across. The laptop is however joined to our domain, and I pretty
much just have to tick the 'require a password to log on to this computer' box in user accounts, and all looks ok.
So in summary, the image is applying, but the laptop is not rebooting and running the final cleanup scripts.
I have already changed the SATA mode to IDE, instead of AHCI, having read this sometimes causes problems. I also read that systems with UEFI BIOS can also cause problems with MDT, but I'm not sure if this is the case.
I have edited my customsettings.ini, to copy log files back to my server, which it has done for me. Having looked at the logs (with CM Trace), I can see these errors:

    Thanks,

You don't mention what kind of OS this is (Windows 7 Pro x64?)
    This is a known issue/FAQ.
I would recommending using MDT 2012 (update 1) for UEFI machines.
Machines with uEFI 2.3.1 only support Windows 8.x.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824898.aspx
Recomendation: Convert the BIOS to CSM and/or upgrade to Windows 8.1 :^)

  • Posture Assessment Failed:Hostscan Initialize error in Window 8 x64

I’m using Windows8 Enterprise x64,while using Cisco AnyConnect mobility client(installed filename is anyconnect-win-3.0.2052-web-deploy-k9.exe), it show error:
    Posture Assessment Failed:Hostscan Initialize error
this is not being resolved, then I go back to Windows 7. Today I’ve changed the value of the registry as the guide( HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\vpnva; changed the value to "Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Virtual Miniport Adapter for Windows x64"), but it does NOT work yet. I re-installed the client software via the lastest anyconnect-win-3.1.00495-web-deploy-k9.exe, it still show the same error:
    Posture Assessment Failed:Hostscan Initialize error
So boring it is! I would go back to Windows 7 one more time. Any advise???

I've successfully solved this problem by using both web-based SSL-VPN login and latest AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. After I installed anyconnect-win-3.1.00495-k9, I open the URL of my company's ssl vpn, followed the steps then logged in, thus it calls the client to establish a vpn connection. It successed!
    VPN CONNECTED LIKE THIS:

Sounds quite weird that you can't open profile manager or launch the official Mozilla installer. Probably try to reboot, and to scan for malware?

SQL Developer does startup. The error message is closed when the OK button is selected.
    Any Ideas?
    Regards;
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
Just to confirm, SQL Developer does actually open the file. The only issue is the error message displayed. I have logged a bug for that.
There is a work around until that is sorted. If you use explorer to associate the file types with SQL Developer, they open without this error.

  • G4050 on Windows XP x64: supported, yet not?

Hi, When I follow the HP site for Drivers & Downloads to HP Scanjet G4050, the support page shows a drop down for OS. From the drop downs I select "Windows XP x64", which leads to a driver & software download. When I install with the downloaded file, the setup informs me that the Windows XP x64 OS is not supported. Why is it listed on the driver download page then. Anyway, I can install the 32-bit version on Windows XP x64, but most functionality works only half way or not at all. The software triggered with the on-scanner scan button can't save files. Scanning film slides doesn't work at all. Scanner is ok otherwise - works on Windows XP 32-bit. If anyone uses G4050 on Windows XP x64 and knows of some installation tricks, I'd be happy to hear about it. Thanks.

Hello ,  I was looking into your inquiry about your software for your HP Scanjet G4050, and everything I found says it does support Windows XP. You mentioned you tried the download from Windows XP x64 - did you try the Microsoft Windows XP 64-Bit Edition? It has a basic driver listed there.  Under the  Windows XP x64, which file were you trying?HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner Full Feature Software and DriverHP Scanjet Full Feature Software and DriverHP Full Feature Software/DriverDo any of the files work?  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!   Thanks,

  • I can register an OCX file in Windows 7 x64 without incident but with Windows 7 x32 I get a p-up that says "DllRegisterServer failed with error code: 0x80004005. What gives???

Hey yeah.  not much else to say.  The title says it all.
I'm trying to register an OCX file that my video editing application requires to work properly.
I'm using a  Registry (Regsvr32 and Regsvr64) tool to Register DLL/OCX files.  Both bit Registry tools work fine. I can Register any DLL or OCX file with Windows 7 x64 and everything goes smoothly.
But, when in Windows 7 x32, again, no problem with merging the Regsvr32 tool, but when I go to register the OCX file message says it was loaded but the DllRegisterServer failed with error: 0x80004005.

    I don't know what happened.
My Video Editing software was working fine a few days ago in Windows 7 x64.  Tried using it this morning....couldn't load the .mpg video clip.  Just stood there looking stupid like it does in the 32-bit version of Windows 7.
I was hoping the x64 version of Windows 7 RC 7100 was going to make a decent run against my XP Pro SP3 setup. When I was able to register the required .ocx file for the video editing application, I thought "cool".  I made a TV recording then used the Video Editor to edit it and it worked fine.  Earlier this morinng I made another TV recording, went to go edit it and the video editing application couldn't load the .mpg file at all.  This problem just annihilated any chance of me ever purchasing Windows 7, 32 or 64-bit.GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansing Speakers. • WLAN driver fails to install on G580 Windows 7 x64 with error "BCM4313: Can not find setup file"

    Summary:
I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my G580.  Everything is working fine except the WLAN driver fails to install with the error "BCM4313: Can not find setup file".
    Details:
I bought lenovo G580 with Windows 8.  Since my parents are not comfortable with the learning curve of Win 8, I successfully downgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.  Everything is working fine but my WLAN card is not recognized because of lack of driver.
The lenovo parts look-up page says I have broadcom WLAN card - CBT BCM4313 MOW HMC WLAN
I looked at lenovo driver downloads site and tried following driver files for Windows 7 and both of them failed to install with the following error.  I tried installing other WLAN drivers also but they won't even install as required hardward is not there.
Error -  "BCM4313: Can not find setup file"
    Drivers Tried:
    - http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS028208
Any help about how to get past this error will be appreciated.  The previous Widnows verison (Windows 8) is still on my hard-drive as windows.old folder.  Let me know if I can copy a specific file from there.
    Thank you.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Download this driver bcm4313
Start setup and extract the files. After that go to star menu/control panel/system/device manager. There you probably find out that network adapter driver is missing.Choose it and click with right mb for drop menu to show up.Select properties then Driver/Update Drivers...Select to load driver from computer hard drive and choose the path where extract files is.Default path is main partion C: and search for directory named Driver.
And yes...you get "Can not find setup file" error but dont worry.Files needed to instal driver are extract fine.

  • [Solved] Audition won't start with [...\Preferences.cpp-253] error on windows 7/vista x64.

Hi! You have really nice support for Audition - 3 pages of problems here and no solution. Just kidding
So i've decided to help those poor users, that encounter the following problem (it may (or may not) arise after installing Adobe CS* with Audition already installed on the system)):
Adobe Audition crashes at start with the following error:
    [\premiere2.0\Backend\Src\Core\Preferences.cpp-253]
After applying the Windows XP compatibility mode error chages to:
Adobe Audition could not find a supported audio device. Please check your device settings.
    Then it crashes like before.
Uninstalling Adobe Premiere won't help, by the way.
This problem is somehow related to the audition_settings.xml file in the Data folder and deleting this file solves the problem. You can aslo delete the whole folder - it will be created again on a next Adobe Audition start. Here is the path:
    C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\3.0\audition_settings.xml
Some technical data on my system:
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 (don't be confused - it is in every way identical to Windows 7 x64, at least for Adobe products). I have a strong feeling that Vista x64 users may encounter that too.
    Installed Adobe products:
    1. Adobe Audition
    2. Adobe Master Suite CS5 (without premier)
    3. Adobe Acrobat X
I hope that my post will help you solve the error in the next release!

  • BUG! Not system locale Filenames support for 32-bit applications error in Windows 8.1 x64 and other microssoft x64 OS-s.

BUG! Not system locale Filenames support for 32-bit applications error in Windows 8.1 x64.
All Windows x64 (XP,2003,2007,Vista,7,8) have no support for not system locale filenames|foldernames for all 32-bit applications. I think it is BUG!
For example,  it is possible to read files|folders with French or Chinese in English locale windows installed, rename it, but it is not possible open it, edit or delete. (ERRORS: File not found OR Unknown format)
With using 64-bit programs no such problems. How does it works and how can I fix this? Is it problem with encoding in translating kernel instructions for 32-bit apps in x64 Windows OS's? Whether there are
solutions to this problem OR some hacks|fixes?

    Hi,
Have you installed the language package for French or Chinese?
If no, please download the language package and install them.

  • Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) crashes when file opens (Windows 7 x64 Pro)

Did a recent install of Windows 7 x64 Pro and installed Adobe Web Suite and updated all adobe programs. When I use photoshop to open a file, the file opens then photoshop hangs and windows says it has stopped responding then closes. This is a fresh install of windows...
I used drivermax to backup drivers from a previous install and install those drivers on the new install. After that I installed the newest graphics drivers via nvidia's website.
I installed all updates for the suite then I cleared my preferences, none of this worked.
Please let me know where I can find the crash log and any other logs so I can post that info here.

I would do exactly as Curt suggests, and check out Event Viewer. This ARTICLE goes into more detail about what to look for. Be sure to follow every link, in every warning, or error message. Do not get frustrated with warning and error messages, that are 100% code - just look for one written in words that you can understand, and especially with any, that have links.
    Good luck,

  • T410 Windows 7 x64 SP1 Installation Error

Trying to install SP1 for Windows 7 x64 and each time after it reboots the PC during installation the SP installation reverts itself due to a failure.  Once I'm allowed to log in I get a windows saying Installation was not successful with an unspecified error and an error code: E_FAIL(0x80004005).  The PC hasn't even been configured yet and I'm trying to do the installation from the factory image.  I have tried installing it through Windows update and from the standalone installation file from the microsoft download center.  Neither works and I get the same message.

Try this and see if it fixes it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2530477
