Dreamweaver 5.5 site settings

Hi, Till some time ago I've used fire ftp for managing files online. They are nicely opening in DW with a number in front of the files name. Then I decided to configure "site's" in DW built in manager. I've configured a remote server it's not working like I hoped.
1.When I open a file form remote server, it's not editable "on line". To do it I have to save that file and then PUT it on the server which is not very productive. Any way to overcome this?
2.How to switch of the prompt "do you want to override local files" and make "yes to all" permanent.
3.Do files edited on-line have any sort of indication that they are "on-line" and not local?
4.Is there any way to export Dreamweaver settings, mostly "sites" settings?

I don't know if it help's but I am using win7 64bit, DW 5.5 newest FF (but it worked also with older versions).
You could try "open with" (from the context menu)-> add program ->insert DW path -> connect to your server -> open with ->select dreamweaver ->edit.
I don't think it has something to do with the server (I am using linux, by the way).
I found this on FireFtp site, hope it helps:
For your local files, sometimes you want to be able to open a file with a different program than the default one. Let's say I have an image file - sometimes I just want to look at it and that defaults to Firefox (what else?!) but sometimes I want to edit it and for that I need Photoshop.
So, I right click on my image file, go to Open With->Add Programs... The associated extension with the file (in this example, ".jpg") will already by listed on the top-left pane. I give my program a name in the Name textbox, in this case, Photoshop. I click "Browse" and find the Photoshop executable file (on Windows, this is usually under the "Program Files" folder somewhere). And optionally I can add Arguments, but for most users and most cases it's enough to leave that box alone. Then I hit "Apply". I'll then see in the top-right pane that my program is now associated with that extension. In a similar manner, if I want a program to be associated with all extensions and all files I can select "*.*" (which will always be there) and add programs to its list.
Now, when I right click the file again and look under "Open With", I will have Photoshop as one of the options - I can select that and the file will open up with Photoshop.
For remote files, selecting Open With will download the file and put you into Remote Edit mode. From here you can work on your file, save it, and FireFTP will automatically upload your file when it detects you've modified the file.
For Mac users: When you create a program entry for Safari, for example, you would think the path to the Application is probably: /Applications/Safari.app
and logically so, because when you browse the directory you aren't allowed to go into the Application's hidden contents. However, this is not the correct path. Right-click on an Application and do "Show Package Contents". The correct path to the Safari application is actually: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
Not very intuitive, I realize, for you Mac users out there. Maybe in a future version there will be an easier way to access these hidden Application contents.

  • Dreamweaver CS 5.5 crashes when saving Site settings.

    Hey,
I'm working on a PHP website. I had it set up to test on a server. When I went to change the Site settings (I wanted to make a new version), Dreamweaver crashed when I saved the new settings. After that, Dreamweaver does not open unless I delete the Configuration file (a solution I found online). Also, any time I restart my computer Dreamweaver does the same thing – crashes on opening. The only thing that was saved that first time it seems is that Dreamweaver removed my server username and password, so I can no longer test the site that was working. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks,
    -Taylor

  • Dreamweaver 3 site settings - import to cs4?

Crazy, I know it - but I was working with Dreamweaver 3 until my computer crashed. Now I have CS4 and want my old sites back.  I have a back up of the registry files but how would I get these settins into CS4?

If your site files exist (they do not live within Dreamweaver, they are in your file structure on the computer), Go into CS4 and Define the sites again.
If you do not have the files locally, but they are on the server, Define the sites again and bring down ("GET") a copy of each site to your local computer.
The definition does not hold the site, it only tells Dreamweaver where the site is and what files it consists of.
I trust you have all the remote access information stored carefully in a notebook somewhere off the computer...
I do not have experience running two (or more) versions of DW on the same computer at the same time. I would suggest that might confuse the situation.

  • Where are "Site settings"?

I've finally upgraded from a very old version of Dreamweaver to CS6. Trying to connect, I'm  told that the server certificate is unsigned or not issued by a trusted certificate authority. I am then told to go to "Site settings" - but where are they? Not under "Site"!

That is taken care of by your hosting company on the server. DW is just warning you that your site is apparently not secure, owned by Scammy McScammerson, or the administrator oopsied and let their security certificate expire.

  • Recover Site Settings

Is there any way to recover site settings from another user
profile on my PC? This past weekend, our support deparment switched
domain names on us. Now I have a new user profile - support dept.
was unable to import previous user settings. I can see .DWS files
in the SiteCache folder (under previous user\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration). Are those
    helpful? Running Windows XP Pro.
    Thanks in advance...

The site definitions are stored in the Windows Registry. Tell
    IT to roll
your profile back so you can at least EXPORT those
    definitions, or bill them
for your time to recreate them....

  • Lost site settings

One of my sites is missing from site settings. I imported it from the .ste file but that info was out of date. The server address had changed a couple of years ago, and I was connecting fine from DW until I rebuilt it from the import. Is there somewhere other than the .ste file where this info is kept? I have backups that I can grab something from but don't know what to look for.

    Windows or MAC?
    What DW version?
On Windows, the site definitions for Dreamweaver CS6 are stored in the Windows Registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Common\12.0\Sites.
In Mac OS X, they are at Macintosh HD:<username>:Library:Application Support:Adobe:Common:12.0:Sites:Site Prefs.
In recent versions of Mac OS X, the Library folder is hidden. In the Mac Finder, select Go > Go to Folder, type ~/Library in the search field, and click Go.

  • Why is my flash content not working on my dreamweaver created html site?

This is a problem that's happening on my website I'm creating.  I created a quick test website to show you the problem on the fourm.  It's the same problem, and if you can provide the solution to this test website I can apply it to my main website.
    Test website on server:
    test331754952.net23.net
    What I did:
    -launched flash
-typed "test" and made it spin 360 degrees
    -published swf
    -launched dreamweaver
    -created a site
    -moved swf to site folder
-saved a html file to the site folder
-in dreamweaver, went to insert, media, swf, then selected the swf I made
-it inserted the swf, creating a gray placeholder for it
-re-saved the html document, at which point dreamweaver created a folder named script and 2 files, an swf, and a javascript file
    Site Directory:
    Scripts Sub-Directory:
    What happens:
-when I launch the swf on my machine, it plays fine
-when I open the swf directly on the test website on the server, it plays fine
-when I open the html with the embended swf on the test website on the server, it shows a gray box, then goes white
-In dreamweaver, when I go to preview in browser and choose internet explorer, it tells me I don't have new flashplayer(I do: flashplayer 11)
Ie also pokes up a box at the bottom that says its not allowing content.  When I click allow content, it creates a gray box
-In dreamweaver, when I go to preview in borwser and choose google chrome, it tells me flash player has stopped a potentionally unsafe operation.  When I close this dialog box, it gives me a gray box where my swf should be embeded.
-I've tried changing global flash secuirty setting and it does nothing
-I've tried visiting the test website on multiple computers in my household to no avail
-I've tried having friends visit the site on their computer at their house to no avail
-I did't touch the code on this test website-the code is exactly what dreamweaver generated

There is no Flash player version 15... as in your code:
    <param name="swfversion" value="15.0.0.0" />
For some reason Adobe thought it would be a good idea to target a Flash player version (15) as default.....which may be out a couple years in the future. Go figure!!!
If you don't like player version 9, change to 10 or 11.... just not 15 (yet).

  • My Site Settings: Language Options not applied

On a SharePoint 2013 Server I want that the user be able to select is own My Site Language (as SP2010).
So, goingo to: Services Applications > User Profile Service > Setup My Sites:
And checking in the The Language Options checkbox (Allow user to choose the language of their personal site)
The above option doesn't result in any language selection prompt for the user on the My Site creation.
    Ideas?

    Hi falloutpt,
Based on the following article, user's My Site will be created with default, primary language of the SharePoint Server 2013 installation on the server by default, then user can change his my site to display other language installed, it should be different
    from the SharePoint 2010.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262500.aspx#mui
"When enabled, users can use the multilingual user interface feature
for their My Sites. This feature is used to display the site's user interface in a secondary language that the user prefers instead of the default, primary language that was selected when the site was created.
By default, when a new site is created, it is created in the default, primary language of the SharePoint Server 2013 installation on the server. A farm administrator must install language packs on the server before sites can be created in languages
other than the default, primary language.
For My Sites, the multilingual user interface feature is controlled by the Language Options setting when you configure My Site settings. The languages that are available to users correspond to the language packs installed in the server
farm. For more information about language packs, see Install or uninstall language packs for SharePoint 2013."
Change and display language should also have changed in SharePoint 2013, user could display the My Site as other languages from IE language settings, which have being installed on SharePoint server.

  • Error trying to access Site Settings on sub-sites after migration from WSS 3.0 to Foundation 2010

I have migrated a WSS 3.0 database over to SP Foundation 2010.  I can browse all the sites just fine.  I can successfully get to Site Actions, Site Settings on the main site(parent).  However, when I try to access Site Actions, Site Settings
from any of the subsites, I get the error below.  It has been years since we setup the old WSS 3.0 site.  I cannot remember what modifications may have been made that could help determine what is causing this.  Thanks

    Hi Poly,
I recommend to check if the Alternate Access Mapping is correct for the web application where the site exists in Central Administration.
To narrow the issue scope, I recommend to create a new subsite to see if the issue still occurs.
Please also check the ULS log to get the detailed error message.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS.
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

  • SharePoint 2013 - Site Settings - Users and permissions - "Access Request and invitations" link missing

I am site collection administrator and have configured the outgoing email in Central administration but "Access Request and invitations" link  is missing, pl advice any additional configurations for this link to show up
I was though able to configure access requests by going to Site Settings->Users and permission and on the ribbon selected "Access Request Settings"
What is the difference in either of the approaches?
    Thanks
    Abhishek

    Hi there,
I noticed this post, and didnt really find an appropriate solution to your issue. I noticed the same issue when dealing with Access Requests. First of all to make sure that the Request feature is enabled, you need to access
Site Settings -> Site Permissions -> Access Request Settings -> Make sure the
'Allow access requests' option is enabled.
The Allow access screen just allows you to enable the feature and also to specify a email address that notifications are sent to. Whereas the 'Access Requests and Invitations' section provides a screen to manage Access Requests and request history.
I noticed then that the Access Requests and Invitations link under 'User and Permissions' didnt actually appear until someone actually requests to join the site. It seems that this is needed to display the screen. Once actioned once, the option stays there.
    Hope it helps

  • Access Denied Error while accessing "Site Settings Access requests and invitations"

    Hi,
I am getting Access Denied Error while accessing "Site Settings > Access requests and invitations" in SharePoint  2013 online. Currently I am the owner of the site and have "FULL CONTROL" access. I am able to access using
site collection account. So, what permission I have to give my regular account to access this page?
    Thanks, Pal

    Hello,
Have you recently changed the Owners group of the site collection or removed the user from the original owners group?
The reason I am asking is when the Access requests and invitations list are created, the permissions are given only to the default owners group at the time that the Access Request list was created.  If this "regular account" is not part of that owners
group, the user will receive access denied.  Site Collection Admins always have permissions for the Access Request List.
A workaround for the Access Denied issue is listed in the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2911390/en-us.  By giving the correct group or user the permissions to this list, the users will not receive
    the Access Denied issue anymore.
Preferably, in order to grant the user the full permissions ( you will see features like resending invitations may still fail after implementing the above workaround) there is one other workaround that may be required depending on what the original issue
was.  Below are additional steps to restore full functionality.
1)Access the /_layouts/15/permsetup.aspx of the site collection, make sure the default Owners Group
is set correctly.  (There is a group selected)
    2) Add user to that Owners Group.  (Issue may be resolved at this step if the site collection Owners
Group was never changed, if not continue to next step.)
    3) Implement workaround on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2911390/en-us, by adding that owners
group as Full control on Access Request list Permissions.
Let me know how this works out for you.

  • Editing Site Settings Gives "Unable to process your request"

    Hi,
I get "unable to process your request" when trying to edit the FIM portal site settings. I'm using my domain admin account I installed FIM under, which is also a SharePoint administrator. I'm trying to edit some basic UI details.
I've installed FIM 2010 R2 SP1 on SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SQL 2008 R2. I tried logging into the FIM portal with the fim service account, but this still gives the same error when editing site settings. I'm using separate servers for the fim portal,
fim service DB and fim sync server (all have their firewalls turned off).
Advice on how to resolve this is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks Tomek,
Managed to get this working - I missed out the alternate access mappings on SharePoint 80. Simply adding the internal and internet URLs worked :-)

In Dreamweaver MySites[New Site] menu option , if I had a hosting JSP/PHP what I must declare the hosting JSP or PHP ?

The simplest answer is to choose the language you work best with, and that fits the clients specification the best.
I have mixed server languages on a site before, (would not recommend) when a client has decided they wish to change from their old one to a new(er) /different one, the only thing you must watch if doing this, is that you do not mix languages on the same page (will not work correctly, if at all), and parameter passing.

  • Why is there no email option under site settings in the Business Catalyst Dashboard?

I have pushed a site live, and it has propegated, and looks fine on the Internet, but there is no email option under site settings in the Business Catalyst Dashboard as the tutorial and help screen said there would be.
The domains all look correct, and there is an MX record as well. Did email get moved to another screen, or is there something wrong in my setup?

On the page found at ttp://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/setup-pop-imap-email-accounts.html
it says that there should be a "users" field under "Site Settings," and that is where email accounts are set up. There is not, any more than there was a "email" field as referenced in the tutorial (as you can see from the screen shot above). I can no longer correspond with Adobe, since my primary email address on file with Adobe was with the domain that was transferred to Business Catalyst.
