Dreamweaver 6 Classroom in a Book Browser Limits

Hi DW6 Experts!
I am going through the Classroom in a book tutorials and have found everytime I test my browsers Safari opens the test sites fine however Google Chrome (Version 26.0.1410.65) can't find the site---though I have it open and functioning at that time for other research. Is there a problem with the tutorial (I am currently working on lesson 5)? I am performing my work on a decktop Mac (OSX 10.6.8).

newsreaders and
the NNTP mirror of the webforum. So, when you reference a
previous thread,
with a link to something that could be months old, it does us
no good.
That's why I requested a restatement of the symptoms.
Now - that said, I still have very little idea what you are
describing. On
the other hand, it probably doesn't matter, since I am not
versed either in
this particular book/chapter, or in XML processing (I assume
that's what you
are doing). So - I'll back away and let others jump on this
thread....

Where are instructions for using lesson files in dreamweaver classroom in a book

If they are .zip files, you have to save them to your hard drive and extract them with WinZip, SnagIt or some other file extraction software.

Dreamweaver CS3 Classroom in a Book

Has anyone read Dreamweaver CS3 Classroom in a book? I am
having problems with Chapter 9. When I view spry_final.htm in IE7 I
get the following error, "Exception caught while loading clients
xml[object.error]". Works good in Firefox. Any ideas?

Can I download the lesson files for Dreamweaver CS6 classroom in a book?

I bought a used copy of Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 classroom in a book and the disc wasn't with it. Can I download the lesson files somewhere?

Dreamweaver CS6 Classroom in a Book Lesson 4 gaps on webpage?

Hi Folks.
I'm working from the Dreamweaver CS6 Classroom in a Book and I'm at the start of the main official course, lesson 4, where I start to make the GreenStart website. I have just completed the lesson, it was very informative and I really enjoyed it, but I have a slight problem. There is a gap beween my header at the top where the logo is and the vertical navigation bar and main content area. And there is a gap between the vertical nagivation bar and main content area and the footer a the bottom. The insert image tool on the forum here doesn't seem to work so here is a link to where I've uploaded it to my webspace,

I don't know why I have these gaps or how to remove them. Any feedback appreciated.

Paragraphs have default margin and padding set as do all the heading tags h1 h2 h3 etc so you have to be aware of this when constructing a page.

Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a book lesson 13

Hi,
Will somebody help me. In lesson 13 of Classroom in a book PS CS5 you learn to make html-files in PS CS5. After creating a file you are asked to pre-run it with Bridge. Rightclick and then open with a browser. I can't open this just made file (html) in Explorer or any other browser. My PS opens and is restricted to Word only..... What is wrong?? Has this something to do with PS or....???
I solved the problem for now by using Dreamweaver (Web-preview) instead but it's annoying....

Sorry for my late response, I did the first option. That worked but is not what I like.
The second suggestion you made gave: HTML listed "Windows explorer".
Do I have to change that to Photoshop CS5 or.....

Classroom in a Book Examples Do Not Work.

I am working through the Dreamweaver CS4 Classroom in a Book, while working on a MacPro OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard.
Many examples do not function as advertised. This is one example:
On page 114, the user is asked to insert a Spry menu into the page. When this is done the properties panel should appear, in which the Text, Links, Titles and so on can be entered. On my system the properties panel does not appear as it should. Instead, the properties panel for HTML and CSS remains present. It is not possible to enter the attributes as intended in the lesson. I can enter them manually into the markup, but since this will not result in correctly generated script (it is generated Javascript) it is pointless to do this. The failure of the Dreamweaver GUI makes it impossible to proceed with the lesson.
I tried to repair this situation be deleting the files and copying them anew from the CD ROM. then started again. The error was repeated.
My file setup is slightly different from the default. I always make an extra directory for the HTML files, named html
    ~/username/Documents/DW CIB/html/
    ~/username/Documents/DW CIB/css/
    ~/username/Documents/DW CIB/images/
    ~/username/Documents/DW CIB/js/
    ~/username/Documents/DW CIB/SpryAssets/
      and so on.
But this is not the problem, as the system is seeing this. For example, the links inserted to the pages are automatically correct:
   <link href="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarVertical.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Is there an issue here with Mac and Snow Leopard? Or are more people having these problems? Or am I missing something here?

Unknown File Type for Adobe Classroom in a Book Fireworks

I am trying to open sand_river1.jpg cited on p. 74 of Adobe Fireworks Classroom in a Book and am getting a "Could not open file" and "unknown file type" despite the fact that the image is displaying as a thumbnail in the file browser. I get the message on both Windows and Mac Fireworks CS6. Is it possible these publication assets were not part of Adobe's QA regression? Anyway:
- I'd rather not try to fix this myself since it's an Adobe product and I can wait.
- has this problem been corrected?
- is there an errata site for the book? When I search on Google I am just sent to Amazon and bittorrent.

PSE 6 Classroom in a book any good for PSE 10?

I have just bought PSE 10 and am looking for a book to teach myself how to use it. A friend has PSE Classroom in a Book but for PSE 6. Will this book be any good or has PSE changed so much since version 6 - or introduced new things - that the book won't really be suitable?
If this particular book won't be any good, does anybody have any recommendations? I like the Classroom in a Book style but am willing to try anything!
I am using Windows 7 and have only limited experience of any photoediting software.

I recommend Barbara Brundage's book: The Missing Manual to you. It is well written and illustrated.

Adobe Press put the LR4 Classroom in a Book on its Weekly Special. It really is $10, because they are not charging for freight. The book is normally $40.

CS5 Classroom In A Book Errors

I'm learning some Dreamweaver through Adobe Press' Classroom In A Book and finding some pretty bad errors in it's editing. It's tough to then know if any problems I'm having with the program are related to my own mistakes, or if it's just another typo or error in the book.
That being said, when creating a new CSS style, what's the difference between a <#style> and a <.style>
I know the # is an ID reference, but what happens if Dw makes and uses the .style instead. The book shows a #style in it's illustration but when i follow the directions my Dw is automatically entering it as .style.
My mistake somewhere? Or is it another error from the book? How does this book make it to print will all the discrepancies from screen to what the book is showing? If you've picked up this book you'll know what I'm talking about.

I have never seen the <#style>, and did not see any reference to it at http://www.w3schools.com/
However if you have
#style, then you are correct, it used to identify an ID
When you have
.style, it is used to identify a class
Class and Id's are similar, however only one ID can be used on a page, while you can use as many of the same class on one page as you like.

Following book classroom in a book problems

I am following the book "Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 Classroom in a Book", but I find that certain things do not agree with what the book asks to do. For example on page 84, it is asking to choose window > CSS styles to display the CSS styles panel and then click header rule. I found out that this is changed in the program ( I thought the book came out after the program was written) and wasted a lot of time trying to find out how to do this. On page 88, it is telling me to choose Insert > Layout Objects > A P Div. Where can I find this?

Which version and build # of DW do you have?
Most books became obsolete shortly after CS6 was released simply because the cloud updates made sweeping changes which books couldn't keep pace with.
With the launch of DW CC in June, futher changes were made to streamline the interface and remove deprecated features such as APDivs, server-behaviors and more...

CS3 Classroom in a book "Chapter 9" Error

Iv been working through the Classroom in a book for
dreamweaver CS3 and in chapter 9 it talks about xml and Creating
Interactive Pages. The files included have a xml file as well as a
suposidly compleated and working example page that is how my page
should look after i'm done with the chapter. Problem i'm haivng is
this. Both my page AND the adobe provided example page give me an
error message and isnt working and i cant figure out what is wrong
:/. I'm not ver knowledgable of xml, but i dont see how it could be
something i'm doing wrong becuase even the example page provided by
the book doesnt work. The error message i get is in the form of a
box with a red heading on top that gives the message "Exception
caught while loading clients.xml: [object Error]".
the xml file is attached. Any help would be great. ty very
much in advance :). Let me know if you need any aditional info to
figure this out :).

What is the question (for the benefit of those of us who do
