Dreamweaver 8.0, Won't Start Up At All

What do I do about my Dreamweaver 8.0 suddenly getting stuck
during start-up, and just freezing until I get a "not responding"
message and have to shut it down? It goes along for a little while,
then freezes at the "Initializing Css. sign on the start-up, if I
remember right.
Do I re-run my CD? (Will I still have all my local files if I
do?)
Any other suggestions?
This happened just after I finished a long, for me, web
feature I'd worked a couple weeks on. It was a travelogue, and I'd
just uploaded two photos that I'd gotten from an image bank, needed
to supplement my own photos (my camera had broken)...and then, when
I briefly tried to do something else as an afterthought, after
taking down Dreamweaver, it would n't start up again. I've
re-booted several times, to no avail.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Firefox update failed, so I re-installed. Now firefox won't start up at all?

''locking as a duplicate of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/969557''
So I ran firefox, and it was updating. While updating, firefox crashed for no apparent reason so I had to close it. Afterwards, every time I tried to start up firefox, it gave me the update failed error, followed by a crash less than a second later. I followed some instructions, uninstalling and re-installing firefox (without removing personal data), but now firefox won't start up at all!
    Now what?

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.
    Thanks in advance!

  • My macbook pro won't start up at all, it shows a grey screen, before this it was extremely slow. What is the problem?

My Mac won't start up at all now, it happened again 3 weeks ago and I reinstalled OS and lost everything on my computer
Now it happened again after it was extremely slow.. what is the problem?

and how can I fix it without losing everything again?

  • Tried to restart on os 9, now won't start up at all

I have an old G4 desktop with OS 9.0. I bought OS 10.4.6 and installed it fine, not erasing the hard drive.
I discovered that Classic can't work unless you have 9.1 or preferably 9.2 or later, so I went and downloaded a 9.1 upgrade (intending to later get a 9.2 upgrade too). Then I went and tried to restart in 9.0 so that I could install the 9.1 upgrade, but now the computer won't start up at all.
If I hold down opt during start-up, a screen appears with three icons: a circular arrow, a hard disk w/ little Finder icon, and a right arrow.
What do I do? And is there a way NOT to erase my hard drive, or is it too late for that?
Thanks for any help... and please be detailed in responses because I don't know much about these sorts of things.

Did you check to see if your Mac requires a firmware (Boot ROM version) update? Mac OS X: Available firmware updates
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117 If an update is required, the update must be installed (using OS 9) BEFORE you install OS X.

  • My Macbook Pro won't start up. All I get is a grey screen showing a grey folder bearing a question mark. Help please!

My Macbook Pro won't start up. All I get is a grey screen showing a grey folder bearing a question mark. Help please!

The folder with the question mark indicates that the machine is unable to find a bootable volume on startup. This is typically caused by one of three things:
1.) The internal HD has failed or is failing and needs to be replaced
2.) There is significant directory damage to the volume that requires repairing in order to boot
3.) Some other internal component failure between the HD and logic board
I'd ranked them in the order that is most common (from my personal experience). Boot to the OS X Recovery tool and attempt to repair the startup volume. If that fails or the drive is not detected it's usually a tell tale sign of a failed HD.

  • Dreamweaver & Flash CS3 won't start

I have Dreamweaver and Flash in CS3 Design Premium. All other
apps seem to work, but DW and Flash only launched once or twice
after I first installed the suite. Now virtually nothing happens
when I try to launch them -- barely a flash on the hard drive
light. I have XP professional. I tried the method described in a
previous thread (an Adobe Tech Note) of deleting the config folder
to force DW to create a new one -- I did not work. Can anyone
    help?

  • Itunes Won't Start..at all.

I've been through many of the bigger posts here looking for a solution ot my problem but sadly haven't found one.
I had iTunes 4.9 and installed 5.0 ontop of it. When I went to start 5.0 it would not start. At all. I get a hourglass for about half a second and then nothing. No error message. No nothing. I don't run any firewall or antivirus currently. I've tried disabling the bonjour services. I've tried installing quicktime standalone and the bonjour services then installing itunes. I've made sure I have a current version of the dll. I'm not sure what else I am supposed to try. Wondering if I missed any posts that might help me.
    Thanks for your time.

well here you have my story
Whenever I use iTunes, it seems to only want to open upon the very first time after installation. It's very irritating - the only way I can get it to work again is to totally uninstall it (repair doesn't work), then reinstall it. Then it works - only for the first time again. Doh!
Everytime I try to open it up, the hourglass/arrow combo cursor appears for about 2 seconds and then nothing happens. In task manager, the iTunes exe appears for that same amount of time and then disappears.
After trying three clean XP installs and re-installing both quicktime and iTunes numerous times, I still can't figure out why it won't start! Has anyone else had this problem?

  • Help!!! G5 won't start up AT ALL!

I left this morning and the G5 was on. When I came back it was off (no one except me lives here). The power button won't start it. I checked the plug, checked the power, and other devices on the strip are working--is there some fuse that can be reset to make it start again?
I have a very big job that needs to be done right now! What could be wrong?

Try resetting the PMU or SMU, depending on your Power Mac G5 model.

  • G5 dead and won't start up at all

G5 10.5.8 1.6 I usually leave it on 24/7 Shut it down the other night and now it won't start up.
Pressed the cuda, checked voltage in battery (3.597v). It has had problems in the past of colored lines on the bottom of the monitor when I put it to sleep, but when it was awake after about 15-20 minutes the lines would go away.
I did check the power outlet where it's plugged in for power and it is good.
Now I have no light on the power button and when I had the case opened there were no diode lights on inside either. Any suggestions?

    DaddyPaycheck wrote:
If it is the original battery it couldn't hurt to replace it. To get an accurate reading you have to measure the voltage under load.
A good way to do that is, with AC disconnected, measure the +voltage in the actual battery holder+. Or place a 150 ohm resistance across the battery when reading the voltage.
That being said, this sounds a little more fundamental. When connecting AC to the machine, do you hear a click from the power supply? If not, then you may have a keeled-over power supply. Even with a dead logic board, you should at least get an attempt to power things up, resulting in a fan rush and/or a single relay click from the power supply when you push the button. If you are not getting that, then either the power supply or the front panel board is the culprit. (As an aside, I would guess power supply is more likely, but not impossible that the front panel board has caused the problem.)
Another thing is how clean is the interior? If the dust hasn't been blown out in a long time, or ever, that might be a good thing to look into as well.

  • Dw 8.0 won't start up at all!

I posted about this a few days ago. "bb" suggested I delete
my site cache, and I did that, and Dw still gets stuck and won't
start up and gives me a "not responding" message after awhile. (It
always gets stuck right at "initializing Css Styles.)
    Any more suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • G5 iSight iMac won't start up at all - big grey flashing folder icon

    Hi
Acquired a second hand intel imac (iSight model) - when I first got it, it started up fine (it had 10.4 installed), then I tried to do a carbon copy clone on to it using Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my old mac's system on to my new one and now it's stuffed.
I get the flashing question mark when I try to boot it.
Tried booting from a black Tiger disk - won't start from that (holding down C key won't work, holding down Option key won't give a selection of disks to start up from shows nothing)
Tried starting it up in Target mode from my old iMac (angle poise one) and I can see it fine mounted on angle poise iMac's desktop. Erased it again using disk utils from the angle poise imac again to start again...
Can't start up from my bootable external HD attached to it (firewire)
Can't use fsck on it as I can't start up in Single User mode (nothing happens)
Anybody got any ideas? Can I have stuffed the machine by using CCC and trying to clone to it?
Have also tried Resetting PRAM and SMU.
    I've run out of ideas....
    Thanks for any help

First, I'm a bit confused with your reference to "angle poised" Mac - what is that?
    Second, you said:
"then I tried to do a carbon copy clone on to it using Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my old mac's system on to my new one and now it's stuffed."
Since your old Mac is a PPC, it won't work if your new Mac is an Intel (and, if it is an Intel, it is NOT a G5 - the G5 iSight was the last PPC made before switching to Intel).
Third, the "black" Tiger disk you used - is that a retail version for a PPC or Intel Mac?
At this point, I'm guessing that your "new" Mac didn't like the fact that you installed a PPC version of the OS and/or the OS version you installed was older than what the "new" Mac came with.
Since you've already tried all the usual things, I'd ask the person who gave it to you for some information on the exact tech specs to see if we can figure out why this happened and, if necessary, call a local Apple repair shop for some advice - I'm assuming you're no longer under warranty?

  • Firefox won't start (on lion) all other programs. tried removing and reinstalling. thoughts?

    mac os lion/macbook pro
firefox 7 won't start. tried renaming "places" , tried removing, downloading a new version, re-installing program.
The program worked fine til yesterday. then froze.
all my other programs seem to be working.

I have the same problem getting into Mozilla. Occasionally it comes up when I click on it, but most times it does not. The hour glass stays on for a couple of seconds, then goes off.

  • Macbook won't start up at all

I'm using my desktop to post this because my mac book will not start up at all. When I turn it on I just get the apple screen and the whirling circle. I did all the troubleshooting things, resetting the PRAM and the PMU (I think it is called something else on this model). Still nothing.
The only thing I've done that is different recently is that I set up an airport express to have wireless internet (and it worked fine for a few days and is working with the desktop now).
    Any tips?

HD fails from time to time, there are usually tell tail signs such as the HD making clicking noises.
They are not all that expensive, and is really easy to replace on the Macbook.
If your computer is still under the 1 year warranty, take it to the local apple store and get them to check it for you, and if it needs replace then they will do it for you free of charge.
Have you tried to partition the drive? It may work but you will lose the data stored on the drive.
