Dreamweaver 8 not responding on cfm page

I have an existing .cfm page that I'm adding
<cfqueryparam> tags to several queries. Once I add the new
code if I try to highlight it in code view Dreamweaver quits
responding and peggs my processor and also uses around a gig of
physical ram. This continues until I end the Dreamweaver task using
Task Manager. The code is valid and works correctly through a web
browser but hangs as soon as I try to select any text in
dreamweaver. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this type of
issue and if so is there a way to stop it? Thanks in

I don't know if this is easier for you, but if you have more
than one
stick of RAM, you might try pulling them out one at a time.
You might
have a bad stick.

Dreamweaver not responding/ running very slow!!!

Hi I'm running Dreamweaver on Windows 7 (CS6, version 12.0 Build 5808)
It's running very slow & not responding. It's getting impossible to get work done! I thought installing on a new machine would fix the problem but it persists.

Since it appears to be affecting multiple machines, I would check your code for errors here: http://validator.w3.org and repair anything that comes up. DW doesn't like code errors.
If your code is clean, something to check is the use of protocol relative links, usually for things like web fonts or scripts. Check your code for links that start with // and change them to the normal http version. If you don't have any https pages on your site, you can change those protocol relative links to http versions permanently.
If you have clean code and don't have protocol relative links, there could be a problem with an external script (like google analytics). Go through and comment out any external script with an html comment...

If it speeds DW back to normal, un-comment the scripts one by one until it goes sideways again. You can then pull that script from the remote server and make a copy of it locally. Link to the local version and usually the problems disappear.

"Dreamweaver not responding"

I just bought and installed Dreamweaver CS4 on my PC. It successfully installed, to my knowledge. When I went to start the program Microsoft Windows notified me "dreamweaver is not responding" and won't open; the circle "hourglass" continues to be there in limbo. Anyone else ever have this occur and anyone know what the problem may be?

I was actually very hopeful when I noticed that some specific to Acer bloatware was mentioned...
My situation however is apparently unique. I performed a factory reset over the weekend, removed all pre-installed Acer bloatware and windows components that I have no use for. After which I spent hours applying windows updates. Once that was done I re-installed CS5 Web Premium and Acrobat 9. With so much data being moved, I ran a full defrag being using any of the newly installed apps (since I am trying to improve DW's response times)
Does anyone have any idea why I am still encountering the issue even though eDataSecurity was completely uninstalled prior to throwing CS5 back on the machine??
Since this is an old thread, I'll recap the behavior...
I am modifying my application in code view (design view is useless since I use a server-side mvc framework). More often than not, changing anything within the file contents results in DW hanging up (eg: title bar reads "not responding") for 5-10 seconds before it will let me continue typing. Furthermore, it's not a processing lag since the text I was typing during this problem, did not "fly in" after DW started responding again.
I am at a loss, I was a notepad coder before using dreamweaver. After using it for well over a year, I have become dependent on the organization, features and interface. I am losing more time trying to fix DW than it would take to revert back to using notepad again. Any ideas? Please help

Need help w/ CS4 Mac Dreamweaver (not responding) on start-up

Just tried deleting every Adobe piece of software on my hardrive, then, doing a total re-install for the third time in last 2 days --   and all my programs work except Dreamweaver.
It just hangs and the force quit option says (not responding). I've looked at many ideas from these support groups but nothing is working. What I'm interested in, is why just Dreamweaver is crashed, and nothing else (seems odd) why would that be? I'm using a Mac Mini with OSX 10.5.8, plenty of memory space open. This latest crash happened yesterday and I hadn't used the program for about 1 month, but it was working then. To add to my misery and my increasing lack of faith in Adobe (its products and support process) this same thing happened just 3 months ago, and I had to wipe out my harddrive and reload software for days.
I'd like to understand the reason for this instability. As I have told tech support, there is no reason I would buy future products if the products don't work, and if they are not supported -- other than some random tip on this forum that may take months to come about. There is the possibility I can pay $40 to wait on the phone all day and have someone walk me through the entire process from start to finish, which would take hours and hours so,    If someone has ideas, great   --
If the soultion is to upgrade, I'll buy GIMP.
I need someone to also not give me ideas for PC's and Windows .... is there anyone home today?

Tuff day at the salt mine re-loading a few times and getting rid of many old Adobe files. It's funny, that after using the Adobe un-install process and the Clan Tool, I had still had over 8000+ Adobe-associated embedded files and logs to remove --- and that still didn't matter, because even with my best effort to reinstall, Dreamweaver was still not responding ...   so like many frustrated thread users, I tried the idea you suggested about creating a new account.
Before doing that, I looked over some other Adobe and Apple threads on this subject and sharing seems to be potentailly related to this bug-issue. After creating a new account, I then logging out of my admin account and logged into the new account, I was finally able to see Dreamweaver fire up -- why I don't know. It wasn't that I didn't trust you or not believe you on that suggestion, it just seemed odd that of the entire CS4 suite, only Dreamweaver would need an enire new account created for it to be able to run. This is like having Microsoft Office and needed to create new accounts for Word, and new accounts for Excel .. doesn't make sense!
Furthermore, after having DW fire up in the new account, I felt these odd twitches, and thought about how fun this will be to jump back and fourth between 2 accounts to locate assets and modify content and end up using a thumbdrive to grab the data off my other account, then shuttle it around in the new place, after logging out, then back in and so on and so on -- this is like adding new rooms to my house, so I'm trying to get excited about this new way of using Dreamweaver. I'm currently not ready to start a project and wondering if I should go back to where I was three months ago and wipe everything out again, then maybe have a beer? The good news seems to be that if I get back to this point, everything willl be good (snark).
Thanks for your suggestion and time, I at least have the ability to modify a project (I think)! It was also good to see that I'm not alone out there and that CS5 is not worth buying.... as tons of people are having lots of buggy issues like this, hence why bother upgrading ... (sorry if that started to appear to be an Adobe rant). I guess Apple's latest OS is also having problems, so what say, let's just stop pushing garbage out the door before it works -- I realize the shareholders are important in this age of High Frequency Day Trading, but maybe the customers need real products that have value, versus the illusion of upgrades that crash and upgrades that rely on customer feedback to get things right ... pathetic!

Custom File Not Found for CFM pages in CF7

Hello,
I realize you can use a custom error page within the CF Admin
but for this site I don't have access. I'd like to build my own
error catching page but it's being bypassed if I put it in my
application.cfm page.
For example, I enter a page that doesn't exist like
www.mysite.com/content/foo234.cfm, it just outputs the content from
the file WEB-INF\exception\exception_en.xml file. I'd like to catch
it with this in my Application.cfm page:
<cferror type="exception" template="errorPage.cfm" />
<cferror type="request" template="errorPage.cfm" />
Then email me the details.
What am I missing? Is this not caught by CF? If I use a .html
extension then IIS uses its 404 page that I can modify.

According to your post, my understanding is that the top navigation bar not working in some page.
Did you custom the master page or use different master pager for this pages?
You can check whether the issued pages have different master page or some one has changed the master page.

Mac Book Pro Keyboard, Track pad not responding at login page

URGENT! URGENT! I´m currently in the middle of the amazon shooting a documentary and my Macbook Pro boots up to the login page but I cannot nothing appears on the login line when I type, and my track pad in not responding. Keyboard and track pad dead. However, I can hit the control-apple-power button and get the shutdown-restart-sleep sceen. I plugged in my usb mouse and that works--track pad does not.
I have rebooted, with power supply, without power supply; removed-replaced battery; still the same problem, boot to login screen--now keyboard, not track pad.
Any suggestions?

I also have this problem. After closing my MBP to put it into sleep mode, I opened it a few hours later to resume work and the machine was locked up. I shut the machine down by holding the power key for 5 seconds. Now, every time I try to restart, the login screen appears (after a very long boot time) but the trackpad and keyboard do not respond.
My summer internship final project is due in 3 days and I am desperate. Please help!

Hey guys i recently formated my pc and i download the trial of CS5 .it installed good but i offthen get the not responding..lags big time,,,

so i unsitalled it and re-installe my older cs4/same thing!!

Well Adobe would love for you to update to CC.
But have you tried running the installer in 32-bit mode? Will the application run in 32-bit mode? I use a Mac, so I don't know, but I thought that Win 7 was supposed to have some backwards-compatibility deal where you could run legacy stuff.

Flash will not display on cfm page

For some reason my coldfusion server will not display any
Flash (including Flash Forms) If I change the page to html it
displays fine, also there are no issues with my dev machine, both
machines are running cf8. Any ideas?

this is the typical answer that everybody asks check he CFIDE
folder, but guess what, the folder is accessable and all the script
files can be loaded by the browser but still ... no cfform flash
displayed.
need more support for this issue, i can use all the cfform
features accept when trying to enable the format=flash and this is
what isnt processing correctly,
the developement server works fine but production server
doesn't and the CFIDE directory has the right file permissions and
is assessable to the browser.

Buttons do not respond on every page of a multi-page form

Hello and thank you for your assistance with this rather vexing problem. I am creating a form with multiple pages in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 and on each of those pages are various buttons, and each button opens up a different subform (click event makes subform visible). The problem I am encountering is when I "Preview PDF" the form, or open the form in Acrobat the buttons will only work on the page I click on first. For example, if I click on a button on page one (untitled subform)(page1), all the buttons on page one work fine, but the buttons on pages 2, 3 and 4 will not work. If I close the form and reopen it and start by clicking the buttons on page 3 (untitled subform)(page 3) all of the buttons on page 3 work fine, but pages 1, 2 and 4 will not work. No matter what page I start with to test the buttons, only the buttons on that page will work. I have tried using check boxes instead of buttons and the same thing happens.
I cannot upload the actual form I am working on because it contains proprietary information, however I have created a quick sample form that exhibits the same problem as an example. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if my explanation does not make sense or if I can provide further information. Thanks again for your help. :-)

Every since the June 22 security update, I get Mozilla Firefox (not responding) at any page I go to. Have to sit and wait several minutes for it to load each page. Getting all kinds of errors in arsing values. Declartion dropped. Etc.

Just a few of the types of errors collected.
It is getting to be a pain to have to sit and wait until it is responding again. At that point the cursor is locked on to what ever it is sitting over. You have to click on it to release it.
Anyone have any ideas.

I have upgraded twice to FF 4.0 and both times I have had major problems with it not responding and loading pages very slowly.

I have once again gone back to the older 3.6 version. I love the layout of the new 4.0, but I hate all the lagtime and the fact that it stops responding every few minutes. Will this be addressed? I would much rather have the latest version, but the lags are annoying.

I have also updated to the newest version and enjoyed the new look and layout how ever I have experienced confusing issues. For a few months 4.0 ran without a hitch no problem in sight then all of a sudden each time I loaded any link I would experience no indication of it working. Loading up task manager it was running at least twice at demanding memory usage was also high. The cpu usage was just as it always was which was below 5% even with other programs running. It constantly shows that the browser is "(not responsive)"

Beta 4 is unstable. It freezes uo (not responding) and closes pages unexpectedly.

How do I resolve the issue of instability. Is a fix coming soon?

The machines are one and the same, but Safari is unstable whether it's booted off the internal hard drive (which has stopped grinding recently) or the external drive I cloned my system to, and so the problems are likely to survive any hard drive replacements I may need at some future point.
And alas, the eMac cannot be retired yet, as I lack sufficient fundage for a new Mac (though I might be able to scrape together enough for a cheap hackintosh if the eMac outright died on me) and I'd be sad at having to part with my favourite PowerPC-only software.
During the five years that I used a G3 iMac as my primary computer, I had several substantial hardware failures (I'm pretty sure the machine isn't using the same processor it shipped with, for one thing) and I kept it running. The only reason I replaced it in 2005 was because OS9 had become too obsolete for everyday use. This eMac is as old now as the iMac was then, but OSX 10.4 is a lot more functional today than OS9 was five years ago— the eMac still supports modern web browsers, word processors, Photoshop, and so forth, and so as long as this machine still runs, I'm gonna keep using it! (Even if I have to replace a hard drive along the way.) (Honestly, replacing a hard drive is cheaper than replacing a processor.)
So whether or not any one component of the eMac is up for replacement in the next few weeks or months, I would still very much like my browser to start working properly again.

Unless you get that WRT54G for free or next to free, pass on it and pick up an old apple WAP off eBay or similar site. Like you my iPad has a connectivity problem with the WRVS4400N running iOS 4.2.1, where it didn't have trouble with iOS 3.2.2 and ran fine for five months.
My solution at the office was to spur a second router off my DSL router just for the iPad. The first was a WRT54G that had to be set to only one 802.11 protocol to keep the iPad reliably connected, but swapped it out for an old airport extreme that I kept on after testing it to be good. With a home network like you describe, I would run a subnet off the WRVS4400N just for iPad using an apple WAP (the configuration app for Windows is easy to use).

Can't open cfm pages

New install of CF10 on IIS7 does not open any cfm pages tries to download instead.

Update CF 10 and then After running the connector tool (as run as admin), check the handler mappings in IIS
then double click on anyone of them to see, are they pointing to the correct location or not
You can test the same by creating a Test website in IIS with a test.cfm. Make sure that you have full admin rights on that Test website folder.
If you are not able to open CF 10 admin, then you can try to run CF 10 admin via it's internal port : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHhSPTmRozM
