Dreamweaver 8 or CS3

Hi Folks,
I am currently using Dreamweaver MX which I happy with,
however I have just taken on a new trainee and would like to train
him up on the latest version. Therefore should I be focusing on 8
or go for CS3??
What are the major differences between the two versions?
I am only using it for fairly basic HTML sites at the moment,
but this may develop further with time.
I would also like to know any recommendations of books or CBT
tutorials for these versions.
Many thanks in advance.

If you want to train him on the latest version, there's no
argument: CS3
is the latest version. However, you should also reconsider
your own
version - for two reasons:
1. Training a new person to use CS3 while you're still using
MX is
likely to lead to confusion. The code produced by the two
versions is
very similar, but when training someone, you need to have a
common basis
upon which to work. It's years since I last looked at MX, but
I know I
certainly wouldn't want to go back to it from CS3. If your
trainee has
any skill, he'll end up using features not available to you.
2. Dreamweaver MX qualifies for an upgrade price to CS3, but
earlier
versions don't. I have no idea what Adobe's upgrade policy
will be with
the next version, but you might find yourself no longer
eligible with MX.

  • Dreamweaver CS2 & CS3 Standard Vorlagen

    Hallo zusammen.

    prescott,
Many of us deal with printers, clients and publishers who "only" have a previous version of our apps. That doesn't mean that we have to be hampered by that. You can keep your old version installed under Mac OS X 10.4.11 and still have CS4 installed.
You can save many file types in CS4 that are fully compatible with older versions of software -- unless the files include features that did not exist in the older versions. And as Buko says, PDFs are generally immune to platform and version issues.

  • How do I install just Dreamweaver from CS3

I have recently purchased a Toshiba mini-laptop which has a screen resolution of 1024x600. The minimum resolution for CS3 (which I purchased a while ago and have on my desktop) is 1024x768.  When I try to install it on my laptop, the installation stops since the minimum resolution is inadequate (i guess for Photoshop and the other graphic programs included in CS). I onlly want to install Dreamweaver.  Please advise. Thanks.

  • Seasonal Time Change Bug crashes Dreamweaver 9 (CS3)- still no fix?

The fact that Adobe has produced a new version of CS3 does not in my opinion give them a reason not to fix the CS3 bug that causes Dreamweaver to crash when any attempt is made to edit the ASP or  PHP components of a file.
This bug is caused by daylight time adjustments.
The podge that is recommended by Adobe is to delete the WinFileCache-AD76BB20
While this works, as it happens only every 6 months, it is easy to spend time working out why your existing files all crash the system, but newly created ones do not.
You can find the solution at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402776.html
Bookmark this as it may save you the 4 hours or so that I spent trying to find a solution.
It would cost Adobe nothing to send out an e-mail to all existing owners of CS3 containing this bug fix, and would certainly improve their reputation in many quarters.

    well.
it feels bad, after paying money.
not being able to use a software full.
and ADOBE must be ashamed to give such service
(by not updating these softwares which has still lots of unknonw! bugs and also must be ashamed to put a page for unknown bugs. and trying to make customers be their own software engineers instead of the company's hundreths of engineers)
and this, which they do not fix their program is not important or the issue.
it is a sad subject that, they think the people will give money to fix their unusable programs which they already bought.
and to customers who has paid about 1000$ to a software suit are having a bad vision that ADOBE started to work for money instead of customer happiness.
    when they understand their
1000$ program has no support at all. no update or fixes at all.

Hi, I have Dreamweaver MX on my MAC computer at home and CS3

If you are doing CSS layouts, working in MX will be VERY
    painful, since it

  • Installing Only Dreamweaver from CS3 Premium

I have CS3 Design Premium. When I tried to install it, Dreamweaver never installed. I called for support and it was determined my disc was corrupt. I've received the disc, and now I don't know how to install ONLY Dreamweaver. This happened last year, and I never got around to installing it, and now that I need to, it's not supported.
Can anybody assist me with this?
    Thanks in advance!

When I put in the application disk, I click on "Adobe CS3 Design Premium" (my other options are read me, Adobe Reader 8 and Adobe Solutions Network). It runs through a system check and says "It cannot be installed because it conflicts with: Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium". I can only cancel out of this screen.
When I put in the content disk, my choices are Read Me, Documentation, and Goodies. Under Goodies there is an Adobe Dreamweaver folder, and from there it goes - Migrating from GoLive - GL2DW - and then several safari "read me" safari links.
I never see a choice to do a custom install.

  • "Set text of container" behavior crashes Dreamweaver! (CS3)

When I try to change pages which use the "Set text of
    container" behavior it
crashes DW-CS3. The dialog which used to come up first shows
    a series of
asterisks in the drop-down for the container selected, and
    the CPU does
overtime for about a minute before the correct values appear.
    If I change
any values and OK it, then CPU starts using over 90% on DW
    and nothing
happens until I force a shut-down (I've left it running for
    over 15 mins!)
I have tried setting up a new "Set text of container"
    behavior and the same
    thing happens.

    Oh it truly needs work...
    http://www.jackbooks.com/Wystan/Regional/Regionalism.htm
Even on a simple new page with a couple of divs this
    behaviour is now very
slow and the line of asterisks comes up while waiting for the
    dialog to
load. What has changed? How can a simple behaviour be now so
    demanding?

  • Dreamweaver / Flash CS3 Host Server problem

I've created my flash inserted it into dreamweaver, previewed it and uploaded the pages and the JS files to my host server again and again and it everything shows up but the flash, nothing, not even a box. Any ideas on what the problem could be? They show up in the root directory on the server. the file I used was the SWF. file. Is there another way to do this?
I've tried moving the js. script around (someone said put it inside a file named "script". that didn't work either.

  • DreamWeaver 9 (CS3) - onOpen.htm and other errors

    Hi
I have been using DW9 for a few years now.  And this week suddenly encountered errors I could not explain.
I was updating a library file.  When I selected to update all files using the library file, DW started running through a folder and updating files I have never seen before (configuration/commands).
I stopped the process almost immediately, but I think the damage was done.
Now wheneven I open a file, save a file, paste code, try to use my SPry menu's or almost anything else, I get an error.
I have to click OK twice before the error goes away, and then DW generally does what it's suppose to.
Except with my SPry stuff.  They just dont do anything.
    EXAMPLE:-
When I paste code I get an error as follows ...
"While executing onLoad in PasteFireworksHTML.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
When I open any of my HTML or PHP files I get ...
"While executing onLoad in Design Notes_onLoad.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
There are many more like these.
I opened some of these files in NOTEPAD to see if I can see what is causing the errors, but I see nothing.  The files also dont actually show that they were edited, and still show the original Date Modified of 2007.
    I cant work like this.
    Is there a fix?

Found it - had to do a bit of searching
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-javascript-errors-dreamweaver-cs4.html# main_known_errors
    Worked like a charm

  • Code Indent in Dreamweaver CS3

I have just tried out Dreamweaver in CS3 and I was
disappointed to find that one of the most basic features in any
code editor remains elusive. I am quite simply talking about the
indent of code. I have set code to indent with 4 spaces in the Code
Format preferences window, but when I indent code, it still uses a
tab. I know it's not a massive deal, but it's such a simple feature
and it has caused me a good bit of frustration. It would be great
if Adobe could fix this sometime :)

I've had the Convert Tabs to Space on... and it appears to be
    just spaces in
DW... but if you open file in Notepad, then they are in fact
    Tabs... so DW
is not converting... just in the way it gets displayed.

Never used CF Studio or HomeSite so I don't know how they
worked. Perhaps you can explain more about what you're actually
    like to have happen.
There is the CF8 updater extension for Dreamweaver (for CS3
    and CS4):
    http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads.html
Which adds a new menu item on the Help menu which goes to:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/coldfusion/
Adobe is moving toward online help, but they tend to have
PDFs available of their docs which the above link offers.
