Dreamweaver 8 Photos

In developing a website with Dreamweaver 8, I can
successfully place photos and graphics. But when checking out the
website with a browser, in place of the photos and graphics there
is a blank box with a smaller box inserted in the upper left corner
containing a "red X". This occurs for all of the photos and
graphics.
Sometimes I see the same thing when I open other websites or
in emails (MS Outlook) and attachments to the emails.
I have all the major photo programs loaded, including
PhotoShop CS2. But it's as if the browser can't read the photos or
graphics.
Any ideas about how to solve this problem?

Can you please provide a link to the page?
Without one you'll only receive guesses based on the limited
info provided
to date.

  • Dreamweaver Web Photo Album - no images

I am working on creating a Dreamweaver Web Photo album.  I have done this before and it worked. Now, when I open the wizard:
and go to 'Source images folder' > 'Browse'  I get 'No items match your search.' Unfortunately I can't get a screen shot of this since the page that pops up takes up my entire screen and can not be moved.  I have tried just about all my image folders, making sure I only select the ones with jpgs in them - nothing.  I do have the entire CS4 Adobe Creative Suite, including Firworks installed on my computer.
    Windows Vista
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Beth,
Thanks, I will give that a try.  Yes, I have Bridge and I have made/am making albums there.  I am just not able to edit them in Dreamweaver  as much as I would like to.  So, I thought doing them in Dreamweaver would give me more editing options.
    Again, many thanks!
    christian
ps.  You are also correct - doing it in Bridge gives me better functioning slideshows/web galleries!!!!!

  • Dreamweaver/Photoshop Photo Album and linking

created a photo album test in Photoshop so that I could
include security features such as watermarks. Once I created the
album I exported it to Dreamweaver where I have all my website
files. I am now having some challenges integrating the Photoshop
Photo Album within the Dreamweaver web site. Here are my
    challenges:
    1. I can't create a link out of the photo album to other
destinations within my web page such as the Home Page, Purchase
Pictures Page, etc. I need direction on how to enter text in the
page and also creating the links.
    2. I also want to change the background color of the page.
    How can this be done?
    3. I would like to increase the size of the viewable area so
the large photo is even larger and the thumbnails are totally
visible without using the current scrolling mechanism. I would like
to take up the whole screen and have the ability to change the
color in the bakground to my choice. Additionally reduce the amount
of spacing between the large photo and thumbnails also.
    4. Can I change the photo image descriptions which is
    currently img_6173.jpg for example?
The test of this photo album can be viewed on
SurfingPicturesEast.com under the Football section and choose "Test
    of Photoshop Web Photo Album".
Thank you in advance for any help that can be offered.

I'm using PS CS3 and it has nineteen templates for "Web Photo
    Gallery" and
most of those have various customization options. Other than
    that you're
going to have to go directly into the CSS and the HTML to
    modify the pages.
Design view in Dreamweaver is unlikely to be of much help to
    you. If you
aren't comfortable with css and html you are going to have a
    difficult time
with this. I too needed to add links that weren't created in
    PS and I had to
do it in code view. If there is a way to make the pages show
    anything useful
in design view I didn't find it. Maybe someone with more
    expertise on this
can be of more help to you.
    Good luck,

  • Setting up Photo album on a pre-buildt page?

I built a photo album using the DW Command> create photo album and now I have my folder with pages, thumbnails and images. I have a pictures page built for my site already and have read a dozen tutorials but can't figure out how to import my album folder info into my picture page. Is this possible? How do I make my photo album look like the rest of the pages in my site?
    Thanks

Not to put too fine a point on it, the Dreamweaver Create Photo Album command is a pile of garbage. And no, I'm not likely to offend Adobe engineers by saying so. They agree that the code it creates is completely out of date and has no place in Dreamweaver. It was created in the days when websites and web design were much less sophisticated than today. It's not used by professionals, who are the main target market for Dreamweaver, so it was never improved. A much better solution is in the Adobe Output Module in Bridge CS4, which is installed by default with the latest version of Dreamweaver.
Unfortunately, if you want to use the Create Photo Album command in Dreamweaver, you're entirely on your own. It cannot be used to integrate with an existing site. You need to generate the photo album, and then style each page individually to fit in with the rest of the site. Decide to add a few new pictures, and you have to start all over again. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

  • Flash cs4 to dreamweaver cs4 or 9 (last one)

    I need help with flash
    I got mac 10.5.7
I like to send to dreamweaver a photos gallery the I got from
Bridge cs4 the I send to flash cs4 now I like to send it to dreamweaver, but I don't know how.
I did it in the passed but I gorget about how to do it
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you
    Genaro

I realize this is quite the old thread, but I figured i'd post the solution that I found to this problem just in case someone else stumbled upon it. My solution was to Publish a SWF, Export the sound via Quicktime (turn off the video in Quicktime settings) and then re-link them in After Effects and export. This will eliminate the ghosting, keep your frame rate & high quality, and retain sound.

  • Photo Gallery Database in Dreamweaver Help

Can anyone offer advise on a simple solution for a photo gallery based on a database that can be intergrated to a website that I'm creating in Dreamweaver. Does anyone know of any widget like options and or templates? Thanks in advance.

I have a PHP script that dynamically populates the page with images from a folder.  I don't keep images in a database.

  • Photo Gallery in Dreamweaver

I am updating a site that has a flash gallery displayed within a table cell.  I want to replace the flash (.swf) gallery with an html one that would be apple friendly.  Is there a way to embed an html/java slideshow within a table on a page? Lightroom exports an html page. Isn't there a way to link a lightroom gallery to dreamweaver the same way you would link photoshop to an image in indesign? easy edits easy display? Am I missing something? Maybe it is a huge pain to create an html gallery on a page... I just updated from cs4 so I don't know all of the available options.  Lightroom seemed like the way to go.

There are many javascript photo galleries available online that you could use to do this. I would steer clear of anything that does it automatically (like Photoshop or Fireworks) as the code they generate is horrible.
Look up "jquery slideshow" and you'll have literally hundreds to choose from with most giving a "how to" tutorial. It'll take some basic coding skills to do it though. If you're not ready for that, look into Project VII, they have paid extensions for DW that can do this for you from the Design View interface.

  • Photo Gallery in Dreamweaver using Fireworks

How do I add images to a photo gallery that I created in
Dreamweaver using Fireworks? I created a photo gallery and I
changed my background color and other settings, but I need to find
any easier way to add images without messing up my settings. Each
time I add a photo, I don't want to have to change 40+ web pages.
Can someone please help? If there is an easier program to use, then
    I will change programs.
    Thanks for your help!

Sorry in advance if the following comment is missing the
    point of your question.
Ans: You need to export (>File > Export) the image that
you have manipulated in Fireworks to an images folder in your
dreamweaver website. You will be prompted for an optimum file
output (JPEG, GIF etc) during this process. Then close Fireworks
and open DW. Then place your curser at the point in the webpage
where you want to insert the image and then select Menu > Insert
    > Image. Browse to the image that you have created in Fireworks
and press enter. Job done! Fireworks is a fantastic s/w application
... and there's no need to look elsewhere.

  • How Can I Make A Large Photo with Product Detail for My Thumbnails in Dreamweaver

    Hello All:
New to Dreamweaver, so my code knowledge does not exist yet. Have Mercy!!!!
Anyway , I am making a typical product page.
I prefer that when people click the thumbnail product photo to not have to click into another brower.
Nowadays you are able to click in what is commonly called a "Quick View" that pops up and gives you a full sized
image along with product detail, and pricing.  That's all I want.
How can I link this [the larger photo and product detai] to my thumbnails in Dreamweaver????
I want the look that is on every website like Target, Macy, etc.
Someone, please help me to  !!!!!!!
These lil' faces are really cute.  They are helping me to smile after hours and days, weeks of frustration.   TWIN MADDOG!!!

    Hi,
don't understand your problem, ore hope to understand it right. You could put the images on a DW file and link to another file with the larger image and where you have written all your informations.
I made this here only for a new, larger image (without additional informations):
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

  • Cannot see web photo gallery in design in dreamweaver cs3

have made web photo gallery in PS- opens in browser- opens in
dreamweaver cs3- I can see the code all OK can view again in
browser--But I cannot see the thumbnails or tables-yet I know its
there hidden?--How can I make it all visible

    Cindy:
If you dig really deeply (10 levels down!) in your Library folder you will find the templates for the new Bridge Galleries. You can also use the Lightroom templates in Bridge CS4.
    Library/Applications Support/Adobe/Bridge CS4 Extensions/Adobe output Module/mediagallery/resources/templates/07lightroomgallery/styles
    I duplicated one of the enclosed Styles and dragged it to the Desktop;
    opened it in GoLive (because I like the way that GL displays html code although any text editor will do);
edited the code to give me the background colors, text and image frames that I wanted; and Saved the file with a new but similar name (starting with next two digits in the series and with the .xml suffix) in the same location as the original.
    And it works!
You may be able to put your existing templates in the appropriate areas.
Or, you could install the Optional Plug-ins which let you use the Photoshop/File/Automate
web galleries and put your old templates wherever you kept them for CS3.
    WARNING:
You should be perfectly safe doing this but if you screw-up CS4 and have to re-install it I accept no responsibility!!!!!!!
