Dreamweaver Studio 8 on MacBook Pro
Hello, I just bought a new Intel Based Mac and a brand
spanking new, $1000 copy of Studio 8 but when I try to run
Dreamweaver I get a pop up box that says:
65016
Nothing more.
Fireworks from the package runs just fine.
What's going on? Did I just blow $1000?Could be. I already had Studio 8 prior to purchasing my
MacBook a couple of weeks ago. The Studio install went fine and
Dreamweaver operates properly (albeit slightly slower). However, I
cannot get the 8.0.2 updater to open to upgrade my DW 8 version. It
crashes upon launch everytime. I've tried several tricks like a new
user and reducing fonts but no luck.
This could all be related to the initial quirks of Rosetta
and these "PowerPC"-based programs. However, I've yet to determine
a cause or solution. As I stated, the initial installed
applications (DW, Flash, FW) work properly. If I get lucky, I'll
pass along my solution which may aid your attempts. -
Dreamweaver Studio 8 Dropdown with CSS
When creating a dropdown menu using a client's logo in Studio
8. The menu works brilliantly in all browsers except IE5+ for the
MAC, where the images that are centered in the table move flush
LEFT as in this example.
http://www.lindaclifford.com/abc.html
If you import the code for this site into DW CS3 or DW Studio
8, you can see the lopsided effect in the Design Window.
Any ideas how to counteract this? Is the DocType throwing
this off?
Thanks
PeteFirst of all I want to say thanks for your reply regarding my
post about Fireworks Quirkiness.
I agree with you about the MAC IE browser - I don't think
anyone is really using it these days.
I still think there might be a glitch in my program? I'm
running Studio8 on a MAC.
Somehow the code that is exporting the dropdown menus is
creating a glitch.
If you have any insight, I would be most appreciative.
If this is above what you do for Adobe, then don't bother
trying to figure it all out.
I may just uninstall and re-install the program to see if the
glitches disappear.
I am attaching the code for the page which links to -
http://peterelliott.biz/avidjoan.htm
Both page and CSS Style sheet code generated by FWStudio8 for
the MAC.
This results in the SOLID Blue line indicating the photo
aligns Flush Left -
http://peterelliott.biz/ajoan2.png
My client who uses the CS3 Suite doesn't see the Blue lines -
but sees the Images FLUSH LEFT -as in this shot.
http://peterelliott.biz/ajoan2.jpg
I feel certain that there is a bug somewhere that needs
fixing.
Again any help you can give would be grateful.

Dreamweaver/Studio 9?
Dreamweaver does not seem to get many updates. It costs a lot
of money for us hobbyists/small earners. What is the forward
development path for this suite? Change to another suite from
Adobe?Get Wordpress (
http://www.wordpress.org) and
use it with PHP. Both are
free.

I have Dreamweaver MX 2004 and then upgraded to
Dreamweaver Studio MX 2004 and decided to upgrade to Studio 8. At
the time I got the Studio 8 I also upgraded my computer and now my
purchased flash buttons do not work on my system. I get an error
message Macromedia Dreamweaver Could not create the flash button
because a component of Dreamweaver is missing. Please reinstall
Dreamweaver. We tried uninstall and then reinstall and still no
fix. My husband tried the software on his lap top and they work
fine. I did have Contribute installed but uninstalled it . 1. What
would the missing component be? and 2. Why didn't the reinstall
work? Thanks for the help. I need to update a couple of sites that
use the buttons and can't so far. Carolyou probably have to install the Dreamweaver update so that
you're on
version 8.0.2. just search Adobe.com for Dreamweaver update
and you
should be able to find it pretty quickly.

Cafe townsend demo in dreamweaver help
In dreamweaver Studio 8 there is help menu at top and it
takes you thru for beginners. There is an example site called Cafe
townsend and on it has a 'next button" that rotates images. How do
you create that look with text on one side and images on the other
and how do you get them to rotate?
Thanks in Advance,
DennisRight. It's an empty local site folder until you put something into it.
Go to step 2. Download and unzip the Check_Magazine.Zip files
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/check_magazine.zip
Go to step 3. Copy the check_magazine folder into your local_sites folder (Cafe Townsend).

Is Adobe CS5 compatible with CS3 and Dreamweaver 8 files
All,
We have eight users that are using CS3 (Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat 8) plus Dreamweaver Studio 8 on Windows XP Pro 32-bit. Two of these users are moving to Windows 7 64-bit. We don't have it in the budget to upgrade all 8 users. Will Adobe CS5 Premium files (particularly InDesign and Dreamweaver) work with CS3 and Dreamweaver 8 files?
ThanksInDesign absolutely NOT! InDesign can only save back one version.
But...CS3 runs just fine on Win7 64 bit.
I'm not sure about what issues you'll have with Dreamweaver.
Please post followups in the InDesign and Dreamweaver forums.

Do I have to upgrade my software when updating from 10.3.9 to Tiger?
I have pretty much the latest versions of all my software, as far as 10.3.9, anyhow. Mostly, I used Adobe and Macromedia programs, and I use Eudora (I have the latest one- 6.2 - I know they've stopped updating it.)
Also, I still use my Classic environment fairly often... for certain reasons I want to be able to continue using a few old items on this computer. At some point, I'll get another Mac with all the latest and greatest, but this one I need to keep and use the way it is.
The reason I'd put Tiger on it, is because so many things these days need at least 10.4 to run. Including the very latest upgrades for my Adobe software. I go back and forth on whether the possible disrupiton is worth gaining the ability to use more currently available "stuff" that needs 10.4+.
So... I can't seem to find any specifically notes stating that my system 9 software will be okay and run all right in tiger's classic environment, nor whether the programs I use, e.g. Adobe Creative Studio and the DreamWeaver Studio group, will be okay with this update. I hope, too, that things like Eudora, PopChar, Suitcase, etc, will be all right. I will probably update some programs gradually, but am hoping I won't actually HAVE to just because of installing 10.4.
I'll clone my hard drive etc, before doing it, of course...
But, anyway, does anyone have experience of making this change this way, maybe upgrading their software later but not having to do it right away?Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It is worth doing the upgrade to Tiger. Most or perhaps all your Classic applications will work OK. I still have Tiger & classic works well. You will need the appropriate Tiger retail installation dvd. After installation do all the upgrades. I suggest if the Tiger version you get is less than 10.4.11 that you download the Combo 10.4.11 update from Apple downloads. Then use Software Update to check for any other updates needed. You should run Disk utility after each upgrade and correct permissions.

I just upgraded from Dreamweaver Studio 8 to CS3. I'm not a
happy camper. I really don't see the advantages to this upgrade and
in fact I've been running into many stability issues.
Was wondering if anyone else is experiencing workspace screen
refresh issues. For example: moving cursor will reveal the
background color, changing a link style sheet does not update the
screen in the workspace, etc. Even doing a screen refresh does not
solve the issues.
I went back to using Dreamweaver 8 and these issues are not
in that version.
Thanks for any feedback or replies.On Thu, 11 Oct 2007 00:00:36 +0000 (UTC), "jamawo"

DW CS3 works like a charm for me. What OS are you using? Are
your
computer specs better than the minimum requirement?

Expiration dates for upgrades like studio8 to cs3
Although i love to have the newest products, if i can manage a couple of years extra with the current set, why not.
Currently i have dreamweaver studio 8, i want to upgrade eventually to cs3 / cs4.
My question is, and i searched for it, how are the expiration dates set for version to version upgrades?
Where can i find info on how and what?
Can i get a notification if it's almost not upgradable anymore etc.
Anyone has any tips? I don't want to end up buying full versions while i could pay a upgrade price...
Thanks.To upgrade to CS4, then MX2004 is the oldest upgrade version at the moment, but this does not necessarily mean that you will be able to upgrade to CS5 (or whatever it will be called), form Studio 8. The upgrade policy is decided by Adobe and in my experience 2-3 version older than the current is the industry norm.
I normally leave it for a max of 2 versions between upgrades.
For info on Adobes current upgrade policy go the the Adobe store - select the product you wish - select 'upgrade eligibility.

CSS Style Problem in some browsers
I’m Using Dreamweaver Studio 8.0. on the PC.
Some of my CSS Styles info does not work in some browsers.
The “main_content” section of my site does not
display properly in some browsers.
Here is the CSS code:
#main_content {
position:absolute;
left:134px;
top:180px;
width:651px;
height:597px;
z-index:6;
border-top-width: medium;
border-right-width: medium;
border-bottom-width: medium;
border-left-width: medium;
border-left-style: none;
border-top-color: #0000CC;
border-right-color: #0000CC;
border-bottom-color: #0000CC;
border-left-color: #0000CC;
border-right-style: solid;
border-bottom-style: none;
It works fine in FireFox 1.5 and Netscape 8. But in IE 6.0.2
and Safari 2.0.3 the main content section:
1. moves to the far left of the page (behind a left side
image border)
2. loses its width restriction and fills to the right
whatever size monitor display it is on
3. loses the solid right border of this section
The “.copyright” info also does not display
properly
.copyright {
font-size: 9px;
background-color: #666666;
color: #FFFFFF;
Again, it works fine in FireFox 1.5 and Netscape 8. But in IE
6.0.2 and Safari 2.0.3 the copyright section:
1. does not change to the smaller font
2. does not change font color
3. has no background color
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
DavidHere's something you need to know:
There is no significant difference in the way that these
browsers render
valid CSS on pages with valid doctypes. Please post a link to
your page so
we can get at the bottom of this, and keep you from careering
off the cliff
edge that you are now teetering on! 8)

I believe Spry is supposed to work in a WSIWYG editing window
in Dreamweaver (Studio 8 on my machine), but see no information
about where to put the contents of the unarchived Spry folder to
give Dreamweaver this capability.
Can anyone give me chapter and verse on file/folder locations
insiide Dreamweaver and/or the Mac OS X system?
My special interest at this time is creating hierarchial
menus and image thumbnails/galleries.
Any help will be appreciated—Hi,
Dreamweaver CS3 has some Spry integration features,
including XMLData Sets and some widgets, plus code hinting and
coloring.
Dreamweaver 8 does not have any integration features for Spry
and to add even code hints would be cumbersome. We made changes to
CS3 to make that much easier.
So for now, you will have to do more manual work to code for
Spry in DW8.
But since Spry is just HTML, CSS and JS, any code editor,
including DW8, can do it.
Thanks,

Transferring Educational License
I have Dreamweaver Studio 8 Educational Version. It allows
for installation on one desktop and another machine which is my
laptop. The start up screen on the desktop had a WSW..... serial
number, the laptop does not display a serial number when it starts
up.
I now have un-unstalled the software on the old desktop and
trying to re-install it on a brand new computer. When it asks for
the serial number I am putting in the one from the old machine but
it says it is not correct.
I have called Adobe Licensing and the person who should have
helped me was not helpful at all. Can anyone help me with
this.I apologize for the request I made. I found out that I was
loading Version 6 not Version 8. I had trouble logging onto the
Adobe Licensing site which just added to my frustration.
I logged onto the Adobe Licensing site to get my serial
numbers today and got in finally. I now have the serial number and
everything is working fine. -
Prevent loading of Flash video until clicked?
I have a very simple website where I have a couple of Flash
videos. I want the video players to just load one frame and then
wait for a user click before downloading and playing the video that
is clicked. At present the videos start downloading immediately on
entering the site, and this delays getting all the information on
the page from loading first.
Where might I find a tutorial that shows me how to do that? I
have Dreamweaver Studio 8.
Thanks,
TW
Subversive
EntertainmentThe link below is a rough drawing of what I want to
accomplish.
Website
rough layout
Each video button is an image with a distinctive title across
it that when pressed/released causes the associated video to play
in the player. No video loads until it's clicked into the player,
so the site loads very quickly then waits. It would be nice if a
single image could load into the player window on site entry, to be
replaced with a clicked video. -
I have an old version of Dreamweaver (Studio MX) for Mac OSX. Can I use this on my Mac OSX Leopard? It opens up ok, but will there be problems later down the line as its a bit dated?
thanks.I'm not a Mac user, but if the app opens and works for you then it shouldn't be a problem down the track.
Yes DWMX is quite dated, but if you use it more or less as a html editor and don't rely on all the rubbish (like layout mode for example) that was included in the early versions, then it won't be a problem.
If you are going to be creating modern CSSs layouts then, design view will be a problem, early versions do not display CSS layouts as correctly as the current versions do. That can be overcome by having your browser open to keep checking your work as you go along.
