Dreamweaver 8 Temp Files

Hello,
I am using Dreamweaver 8. I do not set up a site in
Dreamweaver 8 becuase the website I manage has 120,000 files (I
know ... it is being redesigned in 2008).
Now that the back information is out of the way I browse to
the files I need to edit directly out of Dreamweaver through a
mapped network drive. Certain individual files has specific
security on them so only my group can work on them.
The problem comes when Dreamweaver opens a file ... it
creates a TEMP file that inheirits security from the directory
above it. Then when I save it it the TEMP files over write the
original file and the security that goes with it.
Is there a way to turn this option off?

You are sharing the same local site? That's the problem. The
only way to
do this is to have a staging server that the three of you
share files from.
When this is the case, CI/CO will work properly. You will
then need to have
two separate sites defined:
1. Local site on each workstation, and remote site on the
staging server
2. Local site on the staging server, and remote site on the
production
server
For day-to-day editing, each of you would use site #1, with
CI/CO. Check
the files out from the remote site, edit locally, and then
when finished,
check them back in to the staging server. When you are ready
to publish
files, use site #2, and PUT the files from staging server to
production
server. Only use site #2 to GET/PUT files from staging to
production. Only
use site #1 for local editing.
