Dreamweaver 8 Trial Help problems

Howdy - I just recently downloaded the trial version of
dreamweaver 8 (windows XP, new Dell XPS system with plenty of
processing power/RAM/etc.) and it appears to be working just fine,
except when trying to access certain items on the help menu
(dreamweaver help, getting started with dreamweaver) this causes
dreamweaver to close (with this message "Dreamweaver 8 has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience."). I have finished the "getting started tutorials"
through the adobe web site and wanted to move on to the materials
within the help documents, but for some reason help will not work.
I have also updated the trial to 8.0.2, and while this fixed the
problem for a minute (I was able to access the help files one time)
I am now back in the same boat, with no access to help.
Any suggestions?

EDIT: Now I've found the online helpdocs and PDF versions of
these, so at least I have access. In addition, I reinstalled DW8
and this has fixed the problem, at least for now. Just curious if
anyone has had any similar problems (although I searched the forums
and didn't see any) with installed help. thanks again

  • Dreamweaver CS5 and xampp problem

    Hi folks,
    i had cs5 trial installed on my last laptop
    running vista 32bit
    with xampp, i could edit wordpress files
    no problem,
    but i just got a new laptop
    now running windows 7 64bit,
    i installed cs5 trial fine and xampp.
    I just went to edit wordpress files for the first time
    and when i go to index.php as soon as i go to
    'discover' i get dreamweaver 'not responding'
    and it doesn't respond.
    Anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks for the reply,
    there was an update for dreamweaver yesterday which fixed my problem,
    i don't know why because the update was for browserlab and dreamweaver compatibility or something like that,
    but it fixed my problem and now the files load instead of the program (not responding)
    so now i'm happy lol.

    Unfortunately I can't help you. But if it's any consolation, you are not alone. I am suffering from same symptom except it happens with any dynamic site I need to work on. And it doesn't matter whether the sites are local or remote.
    I am running Windows 7 64bit as well in both of my machines, desktop (AMD) and laptop (Intel), and this happens on both of them and with any dynamic site, Joomla! for instance.

  • Phonegap build extension not available for dreamweaver cc trial

    Trying to package up my application for android and ios and hit the problem of phonegap build service.
    When on the addon page of Adobe, the link for phonegap build says "Free with subscription", therefore have to pay.
    Yet everywhere on websites say that the addon is free for dreamweaver cc trial.
    Any help?

    what version of windows are you using?
    I had a similar problem, you have to have windows XP or newer
    with service pack 2 or it will not install.

  • Uninstalled Dreamweaver CC trial for Mac - How to Reinstall

    I uninstalled my Dreamweaver CC trial for Mac immediately after downloading the trial because I had problems opening the application. After reinstalling the trial of Dreamweaver, the application still will not open. Did my trial expire after I uninstalled Dreaweaver? Is there a way I can start up my trial of Dreamweaver again being that it is still within the trial period? Thank you for your help.

    From my experience I get a dialog box that requires me to install Java SE 6 Runtine, from Mac's Software Update (seperate from what Oracle provides on java.com). On recent OS X versions, Java SE 6 Runtime no longer comes OS X preinstalled.
    When you have Java 7 installed and launch Dreamweaver, you may not have a dialog box prompt you to install anything when launching Dreamweaver. However, Dreamweaver relies on an older version so we need to manually download and install it.
    You can download and install the required Java SE 6 Runtime for OS X from Apple's website.
    After you install it, give it another go (you may need to restart) and it should load up like the other CC Apps.
    If it still doesn't work, it's more than likely another issue.

    If the banner image is not displaying, it is either not in an acceptable web file format (optimized for web as jpg, gif or png). Or it is corrupted.  Or the path to the image file on server is broken.

  • Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014 Helper has stopped working

    When I try to import an Flash SWF file created with CC 2014 I get an error that says Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014 Helper has stopped working.  Then I get the option to check online for a solution and close the program or just a second option to just close the program.
    Any suggestions to a fix?

    I insured that Flash 64 bit was installed on my computer.
    This problem must have something to do with embedding a Flash file. I could not recreate the problem on other client's websites. I pulled all the Flash code and the problem went away. Of course I want to include a Flash file so it's still an issue for me.

  • DreamWeaver CS4 trial installation fails

    I've got a GoLive9 full Version from my provider which I
    could not install.
    So I downloaded the german Dreamweaver CS4 Trial. I deleted
    everything on my drives AND registry looking bit like
    "dreamweaver"and "golive". Did use utilities and searched by hand.
    I started the setup.exe from the download. Unzipping seemed to
    work. I found the folder on the desktop (731 MB (766.547.466 Bytes)
    // (19.569 Files / 158 folders). The istallation started
    automaticly. After that the behavior is exactly the same for
    GoLive9 and CS4: Setup starts "initialisation", comes to about 90%.
    For a very short time a screen pops up (I cannot catch it, even
    with a CamCorder in front of the sceen) and the installation
    freezes. I have to kill the process manually.
    None of the other posts here fits to this problem. Anything I
    can check or information I could give (log-files if existing ?)
    Sytem: not Acer, E6600 @ 775DUAL-VSTA; 2GB DDR2/533;
    ATI9800AIW; XPpro/SP2 German; 1x IDE WD 200GB; 2xIDE Maxtor 300GB;

    Microsoft Windows XP Professional v 5.1 build 2600 ( I guess this is the initial release and first build of Professional version.)
    This is a legimated authentic copy but not SP1, SP2 or SP3.
    Dreamweaver CS4 requires a minimum of Windows XP SP2: http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/systemreqs/.

    Once I get in, things seems to work okay. I need to reattach style
    sheets and reconfigure links to graphics, but other than that the
    program works well.
    However, I do get the following error when I try to launch
    Dreamweaver 8.
    "The action can not be completed because the other program is
    busy. Choose switch to activate the busy program and correct the
    problem."
    After clicking on switch to a few times, the program finally
    loads. This is still happening after uninstalling all other
    dreamweaver programs from the machine. Do you know why this is
    happening and how to fix it?

    I came across this problem as well.
    You need to download the Adobe CC Cleaner tool from this site (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then follow these steps to remove the dreamweaver trial you installed. Once this is done download the trial again and it should work.

    display my datasources in the Database panel I get error "server
    name or address cannot be resolved" even though the server name is
    correct and working. The site's testing server is set up properly
    (they run in the browser) and coldfusion is running properly.
    I removed the connection scripts but that was no help. I'm
    using the miserable SQLServer 2005Express (I tried checking
    security permissions in WinXP - my file system is NTFS so there
    *should* be a "Security" tab present in properties for me the
    change permissions but it's not there...
    i've run out of ideas - does anyone have any suggestions that
    I can try?

    I can't help you with the central issue, but permissions in
    XP are
    controlled by a setting in folder options.
    start, control panel, folder options, view. Near the bottom
    of the list
    is an option that by default is checked - "Use simple file
    checking".
    Try unchecking it, and you should be able to access the full
    security
    tab for files.
