Dreamweaver, Acrobat 8, Photoshop CS (8)

Every morning none of the three listed programs will start:
Dreamweaver hangs at "initializing files" then gives the
"server busy error...switch to." NO, it's the IIS cure won't work -
it wasn't installed and I still have the problem after it's
installed and "started"
Acrobat 8 and Photoshop CS both hang at "twain interface"
when attempting to import from scanner.
This happens every morning and sometimes during the day - no
discernible pattern - and I must reboot to get the three programs
to work. Which is starting to get a little old. It's been going on
for a couple of months but I can't specifically point to a time or
update or program installation when it began.
I've tried everything I can find to cure the problem but to
no avail!
Windows XP Pro latest updates, P-4 @2.67 w/1.5g ram
Mustek USB A3 1200 Pro and Epson Perfection 1640SU scanner
(problem existed before scanners - I think), No firewall, no
anti-virus (I install then remove), No, no viruses!

From Studio 8 you can upgrade to the Master Collection for $1,245 at Amazon: http://amzn.to/bgy53K
You won't get a better deal than that.

  • Differing CMYK in Acrobat and Photoshop (same file)

    Hi,
    I posted this in the Acrobat forum and haven't had a response yet. I am also posting here since it is related to both Acrobat and Photoshop, in case someone in the Photoshop forum can respond. Thanks.
    I read different CMYK values for the same PDF file in Acrobat and Photoshop. (Acrobat 9 and Photoshop CS4)
    I  read the colours in Photoshop after opening the file as 16-bit CMYK. I  read the colours for the same PDF file in Acrobat in Output Preview  (Point Sample).
    Amongst the most noticeable is black:
    Photoshop:
    C=75%
    M=68
    Y=67
    K=90
    Acrobat:
    C=0%
    M=0
    Y=0
    K=100
    How can that be? Which one to believe?

    If your assumption is correct, I don't understand why Photoshop would overrule the CMYK colours in the PDF and interpret them differently, especially since when opening the PDF in Photoshop, I select the CMYK 16-bit option.
    Why not? You are merely tagging the objects and force-overriding the color conversion rule based on the original state they were embeded in. Nothing gets ever truly converted in the sense it would in PS. This is merely a way of fixing issues in pre-press and generating the ink plates based thereon and IMO PS is correct in ignoring these device dependent settings and uses its own color management to convert. The way I see it, there is nothing wrong here.

  • Receiving error message when trying to open acrobat and photoshop

    There was an error with this action. Try again later.

    I am guess that you have either Creative Suite or the Cloud. However, the series of numbers you gave are meaningless to us, just like they are to you. We are just users. Did you get any message that stated what the problem was? What was the action? Did you try later? Have Acrobat and Photoshop been working, or is this a new install?
    What versions of the programs and what OS?

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and Photoshop elements 10

    Can i intergrate Photoshop elements to work with Dreamweaver cs4, Photoshop shows up on the editor button in Dreamweaver but when i try to use it it tells me it cannot find the file, even thought i no the file is there, Is there some setting i am missing here ?
    Tony.

    I don't have Photoshop Elements to test with, but you should be able to associate it with image types in Dreamweaver.
    Open the Preferences panel from the Edit menu (Windows) or the Dreamweaver menu (Mac), and select File Types/Editors in the column on the left.
    Select an image type in the Extensions field, and then select the program you want to use as the editor in the Editors field. I doubt if Photoshop Elements will be listed, but you can add it by clicking the plus button above Editors. Navigate to the Photoshop Elements application file, and select it. Then click the Make Primary button.
    You need to do this for each type of image you want to edit in Photoshop Elements.
    Click OK when done.

  • Compatibility of Dreamweaver 3 with Photoshop CS4

    I have Photoshop CS4 and want to buy Dreamweaver CS3 (because it's less expensive than 4).... will there be any compatibility issues if I do this? Or does this even matter? I have never used Dreamweaver which is why I'm asking.
    Thanks for your help/assistance.
    Patrick

    CS3 is a previous version so make sure you are buying this from a legitimate source.  Also with Photoshop CS4 you do have the option to upgrade to a discounted suite.
    Anyways, back to your topic, no there should not be any issues.  There are some added features in CS4 such as the ability to handle PSD files, but it's really not a big deal and I can tell you from my experience I typically export slices from Photoshop and build the HTML by hand in DW to make it work.  So you should be fine if you go with CS3.

  • S.O.S!  Dreamweaver screwing up Photoshop slices when I try to add rollovers! X_X

    Okay so lemme just say I'm fresh outta art school, so I know nothing about coding.  That is probably a bad thing right?  Anyways, I designed my website in Photoshop CS3...no problems there.  Layout looks good, it saved for web nicely, and I preview it in Firefox and everything is peachy.  My slices (normal, and rollover states) are all saved to my images folder which is inside my index folder so I think I'm good there.
    When I open my index.html in Dreamweaver CS4 and begin to insert rollover images (I try to make my thumbnails light up when I move my mouse over them) a duplicate of my normal image appears inside a white box, and on top of that my layout is broken up by these mysterious white boxes.  I don't need a copy of what I'm trying to make light up, I just want my existing thumbnails/slicing to have rollover effects.  I'm pretty sure I'm entering the right info into the box that pops up in Dreamweaver when its aking for the original image and rollover image.  The funny thing is the extra copy that it produces works whenever I sample it in Firefox, it just defaces my layout!!  Grrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!
    I appreciate any feedback...thank you in advance!  I wish I was more left brained

    Problem #1 - Photoshop isn't a Web authoring tool.  It's a graphics tool.
    Problem #2 - PS generated web pages are for quick comps only.  No good for production use.  As you're finding out, PS pages are too rigid and too fragile to edit in DW.
    Solution #1 - Don't use Photoshop or Fireworks for anything but graphics.
    Solution #2 - Use DW to build your HTML and CSS code.
    Solution #3 - Spend time learning basic HTML and CSS first or DW will punish you.

  • Dreamweaver sync with Photoshop not Fireworks

    When I upgraded to CS3 at work, my fireworks and dreamweaver
    remained working together in the properties bar. When I upgraded at
    home to CS3 I now have Photoshop in my property bar. How do I
    change this back to fireworks, my preferred choice.?

    Figured it all out now. In preferences/file types/
    For some reason it had two fireworks and one photoshop
    associated to all the different extensions. But the fireworks was
    marked as primary. So I deleted all of the associations. Closed
    then reopened, then I associated the correct extension with the
    file editor I wanted, with only one editor per extension. Fixed
    everything fine.

  • CS5 prints differently with Illustrator, Acrobat and Photoshop on Xerox

    Hi There,
    I have recently upgraded from CS4 Windows to a new iMac with CS5. I was getting good prints out of the PC although when we switched to Mac CS5 I have been getting de saturated prints, no colour concistancy across progams and it is near impossible to colour callibrate.
    I have double checked that I am using the correct driver for the Xerox C320 Document Centre, I have experimented with changing colour profiles. I just can't get a good colour out of any of the applications. Illustrator is the worst. The prints are coming out nothing like when they show on screen. I am really confused as all of the IT experts we have consulted with had advised us that printing on the Mac would produce a better print that the PC although this is not the case.
    If anyone has any ideas of how to fix this problem it would be greately appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Sluggish performance in general.... sometimes, after having left Illustrator running overnight... I will move my mouse and the cursor lags behind the physical movement of the mouse... almost like it's a delayed, slow motion thing.
    Do something for your CO2 footprint and turn off your machine when not using it. Seriously, electricity must be too cheap over there in the US or wherever you are from...?! Aside from that little thing, letting your computer run without it doing anything will eventually send stuff into hibernation which may never recover on wake-up again. Mustn't even be AI itself, could be some driver crashing in energy saving mode or something similar and in turn this could have ill effects such as you observe...
    Memory Hog in general.... I have an i7 intel processor, a 10k SAS boot drive, and 12 big of ram.... what MORE could they want?
    As long as AI itself is 32bit, none of that matters much, I'm afraid. It will never use more than 2.8GB.
    Yes, my video card far exceeds Adobe's recommendations and has all the latest driver updates....
    But is it the "right" driver? Experience proves that the newest one isn't necessarily the best choice. Not that it should matter much to AI, but you never know...
    All that aside of course very much al lthe people here on this forum would agree that it's about time for a 64bit version and sorting out several of the fundamental issues, but if and when that happens, nobody can tell. You could simply assume now that CS5.5 has hit the roads it will be one year to CS6 (if they keep the cycle to 1 and 2 years, respectively) and maybe then things will look better...
