Dreamweaver BUG!

While I am very impressed that the newest version of
Dreamweaver can render our php include files in the "Design View",
and I really should not be complaining at all ... I have to say
that facing the 200+ pages I have to create in Dreamweaver in the
next 15 days ... I am scared.
Every time I try to type something in the design view, DW
hangs for a minimum of 20 seconds before it "shows" what Ive typed.
Hitting "Undo" is another 20 seconds wait. Saving takes upwards of
30 seconds before it even tries to upload the file to the server
"on save".
If I have to edit our CSS file, I must close all other pages
that are open because DW freezes for 30+ seconds as it tries to
implement any CSS changes im making, into the other pages currently
open. Even if its only 1 or 2 pages.
I understand why its doing this, but I am wondering if there
is some way for me to "Turn Off" the dynamic updating of the pages.
I would still like to have the includes render properly, so I am
able to build the pages properly.
I don't see any need for dreamweaver to be constantly making
calls to the include files however, and freezing up my progress for
extended periods of time, when all I am doing is typing text in to
the body content area.
1 page has literally taken me ALL DAY LONG to create. I am an
extremely fast typer and extremely fast worker, and this is killing
me.

This is extremely interesting info. Thanks much for posting
it. I have
called it to the attention of the cavalry, so to speak! 8)

  • [MAC: InDesign CS4] Export to Dreamweaver bug

    Hi,
I have InDesign files with graphics (.eps, tif, ai, psd) linking but the original grapics are missing. I have to do xhtml conversion without graphics and to keep the original graphic file name linking in the xhtml. Earlier when I export the CS3 file to xhtml via "Export to Dreamweaver..." and check the option "Copy Images" as "Original". InDesign stored all the file names in the xhtml file whether it is missing or not.
    InDesgin CS3 (xhtml output)
    <img src="00_99cent-web-images/99%20cover%20text_illus.ai" alt="missing image file" />
The problem is nowadays we are getting InDesign CS4 files we have upgraded the software to InDesign CS4, with latest path 6.0.5, but when generating the xhtml via "Export to Dreamweaver..." it doesn't give the graphic name.
    InDesgin CS4 (xhtml output)
    <img src="00_99cent-web-images/" alt="missing image file" />
Could you please look into this and do the needful.
    Thanks,

    Hi Peter,
The strange thing is, I just come to know, it is working well on InDesign-PC.
This is really strange that something is fixed on PC plateform but not on MaC. Anway I have log the problem at bug report form

  • Dreamweaver Bug or Virus

    Hi All,
Here is the last few lines of code on one of may .html pages:
    <div id="NorrisoftEnhanceLoader" style="position:absolute;
    left: 0px; top: 0px; z-index:99; visibility: visible;"/>
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="EnhanceFolder/enhanceJS.js"></script>
    <script
    type="text/javascript">if(document.browserOK){try{EnhanceLoaderObject.addVariable("projec tXMLFile",
    "EnhanceFolder/targetPageEnhanceInventory/inventory.xml")}catch (e)
    {}; try{EnhanceLoaderObject.write("NorrisoftEnhanceLoader")}catch
    (e)
    {}}else{NorrisoftEnhanceLoader.style.visibility="hidden"};</script>
    </body>
    </html>
The next time I open it in Dreamweaver, it looks like this:
    <div id="NorrisoftEnhanceLoader" style="position:absolute;
    left: 0px; top: 0px; z-index:99; visibility: visible;"/>
    <script
    type="text/javascript">if(document.browserOK){try{EnhanceLoaderObject.addVariable("projec tXMLFile",
    "EnhanceFolder/targetPageEnhanceInventory/inventory.xml")}catch (e)
    {}; try{EnhanceLoaderObject.write("NorrisoftEnhanceLoader")}catch
    (e)
    {}}else{NorrisoftEnhanceLoader.style.visibility="hidden"};</script>
    </body>
    </html>
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="EnhanceFolder/enhanceJS.js"></script>
So I fix it and click save again and the same line that is
out of place is one more line down the page. Each time I repeat
this process, the line marches ever further down the page.
    Someone is F*cking with me.
    Any ideas?

Perhaps it's you writing bad XHTML. Remove the forward slash
    before the
closing angle bracket, and put a closing </div> tag at
    the end of the div.

  • Dreamweaver bugging

Suddenly, Dreamweaver does no more launch correctly.
I ave an error message : in french
"La ou les erreur(s) Javascript suivantes se sont produites
    A la ligne 56 du fichier "c:\program
    files\macromedia\dreamweaver\configuration\shared\commun\scripts\dwscriptsExtData.js"
Reference error : dwscripts is not defined."
    Then a second message:
"Les traducteurs suivants n'ont pas été
chargés à cause des erreurs : ASP.htm: dispose
    d'information de configuration non valides.
Coldfusion.htm: dispose d'information de configuration non
    valides.
XSLT.htm: dispose d'information de configuration non
    valides."
Those 2 messages mean in english:
    'The following javascript errors occured:
At the line 56 of the file: "c:\program
    files\macromedia\dreamweaver\configuration\shared\commun\scripts\dwscriptsExtData.js"
Reference error : dwscripts is not defined."
"The following translators were not loaded due to errors:
    ASP.htm: invalid configuration informations.
    Coldfusion.htm: invalid configuration informations.
    XSLT.htm: invalid configuration informations.
Afterwards, it is impossible to work with Dreamweaver.
Can anybody help me to solve this issue?
    Thanks.

Remove (or rename) the current one and restart DW. Make sure
    you get the
    one that's in the <username>\Application
    Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • Help! Dreamweaver bug with relative positioning?

    Hi!
I really need some help here...
Every time I try to change my container position from absolute to relative, my AP elements window gets wiped out... all the Div labels suddenly disappear.  When I change the positioning back to absolute, the labels reappear again.  Am I doing something wrong? Why does that keep happening?

Copy & paste this code into a new, blank document.  Turn off Live View.  Use Split View with Code & Design View.  Can you edit the text now?

  • Dreamweaver bug?: XML closing tag ( _/ ) is flawed.

    This is the original code:
    <_bug>hello</_bug>
And this is how it's opened by DW (CS4):
    <_bug>hello<_bug>
Sorry but I can't try it in CS5

Hello Murray! Thanks for your help. The title of my post is wrong and the underscore it's really an underscore. Just copy-paste the code i wrote, save it as .xml, and then open it with DW. You will see the slash of the closing tag is missing   But if you open it with notepad, for example, you will see the slash again.
The problem comes when you save the file with DW... Your slash will be deleted forever.

  • Dreamweaver on OSX Color menus freezing

I have 2 computers both running OSX 10.10 and have the same
issue with Dreamweaver 8 on both systems. Unfortunately I have both
systems completely upgraded from Apples update site. Dreamweaver is
updated to 8.0.2 as well. When I attempt to access the color menu
on any of dreamweavers boxes for this and go far to the upper right
hand corner to access the extended menu there (mac colors, windows
colors, web safe, etc) my entire system freezes up, not just
dreamweaver. If I choose alt, com, esc to attempt the force quit
menu, it unfreezes the system though even before choosing
dreamweaver to force quit. I can continue normally with
dreamweaver, but just can't access this menu.
I highly suspect the problem might be the new safari 3
browser. I know it messed up a java part of the yahoo messenger and
a java file had to be altered there to cure the problem. It also
may be one of the updates from apple as well. I have spent
considerable time googling and looking through support for this
problem and so far have found no reference to it. However since I
have replicated the problem on 2 different computers I highly
suspect I'm not the only person with this problem(G5 2.1 imac, G4
1.67 powerbook). I believe the menu I'm referring to is java
actuated and with the other confirmed from safari 3 out there I
wonder if this is the next. If only changing a file slightly like
the yahoo messenger cure would do it that would be wonderful, but I
have no idea where to start.
Any assistance here would be welcomed.
By the way I have completely tried installing dreamweaver
with all preference files and reinstalling as well as the update.
    Thanks
    David Miers

There is an Apple Dreamweaver bug that we've discovered which
    will freeze up
OS X. It could be related. If you give me a bit more specific
    information,
as well as the exact steps to reproduce, I can tell you if
    it's the same
    bug.

  • Dreamweaver "low on memory" error (yes, again)

    Hi all,
I'd like to re-open discussion on a problem that's been
highlighted on these forums a couple of times already:
    Here...
    ...and
    here...
    ...and
    here.
    ...but as yet, no solution.
I have a new Dell Inspiron 9400 E1705 with 2GB of RAM running
Dreamweaver v8.0.2 that throws the error "Your system is low on
memory" (as shown in those other posts) when clearly I have a stack
    of free memory.
I can make this error occur even when I'm running no other
apps. No other application gives me memory errors, including
Fireworks when it's stacked to the gills with big PNGs. Just
Dreamweaver, and, it seems, almost always when working on CSS
    documents.
The other threads have been relatively exhaustive on what's
occurring, so I need not repeat much of it, but this error message
is annoying the hell out of me. After reading the other posts, I'm
fairly convinced this is a Dreamweaver bug.
    What do you think?
I'd like not to get the standard plethora of "IS YOUR VIRUS
SOFTWARE DOING REALTIME PROTECTION" and "HAVE YOU GOT LOTS OF OTHER
THINGS OPEN" etc -- I've been using Dreamweaver for years and years
    and I'm not a n00b, so I wouldn't be posting here if I didn't think
this was something bigger than just my PC.
I suspect, from reading the other threads, that there might
be a problem related to working on CSS files (particularly large
ones) combined with perhaps 2GB of RAM (because this .problem never
happened on my much lower-specced previous machine).
Would love to hear your thoughts, preferably constructive,
though humorous wouldn't go astray... ;-)
    Cheers!

No answers but same problem... DW8, Dell Dimension 3100 with
    2GB ram. I get
the same error, but my css files are not particularly long
    nor my pages
large. Error usually seems to occur when uploading files.
    Check of task
manager shows plenty of ram available.
Does not occur on my Compaq laptop with 1MB RAM running
    MX2004, same sites.

  • ANN: "Foundation PHP for Dreamweaver 8" - DW 8.0.2 updates

Readers of "Foundation PHP for Dreamweaver 8" who have
    installed the
Dreamweaver 8.0.2 updater, should visit the book's update
    page at
    http://foundationphp.com/dreamweaver8/updates.php#802updater
I have posted details of changes resulting from the release
    of the 8.0.2
updater. The main issues are as follows:
    * SQL queries that use MySQL functions may be corrupted
    (Adobe has
confirmed this as a new bug).
    * Changes to the Advanced Recordset dialog box.
    * XSL Transformation server behavior fails in PHP 5.1.4 (not
    clear
whether this is a Dreamweaver bug or a PHP one). Fortunately,
    there is a
simple solution - Adobe has been alerted to the problem.
I have also created new download files for Chapters 8 - 10
    (Chapter 11
will follow later). They will eventually be moved to the
    book's official
downloads page, but can already be downloaded from the
    friends of ED
    forum at the following address:

    David,
Will this affect pages prospectively? In other words, if I
    update to
8.2 and then create the database and queries, will everything
    be just
tickety boo and it's only already-created functions that are
    in jeopardy?
Thanks for staying on top of this!

  • An FTP Error occured - cannot make connection to host. No response from the server

"An FTP Error occured - cannot make connection to host. No response from the server".
As of today this is all i get when trying to connect to every single ftp account i have. It's not the server cause it's every one and there is several different. Tried passive and non-passive same result. I've connected fine with other FTP clients. So this must be another dreamweaver bug. Anyone know what to do?

Very hard to diagnose these problems, particularly as you can connect using a 3rd party program.
See if the 'timeout' issue could be at play here:

  • Can't load swf into editable region

    Am using DW CS4 in W7 64.
Have designed an html site with one page that has a swf to control dynamic content with php.
All the pages are created based on one template and al is fine until I try to place the flash file in the editable area of the html page. It seems that no swf files can me placed in this or any other editable area of the page.
When the swf is put in the follwoing error comes up "While executing object Tag in Flash htm, a JavaScript error occurred"
Any one else had this issue? More to the point anyone found a work around?

    Cevema wrote:
To test the theory, as I had previously loaded CS4 onto my old XP pro machine, following a fresh install of XP Pro, and as Dreamweaver had never been started on the is machine before, I then created a brand new page from the template and tried to load in a swf file, but got the same error message. For a fresh install this couldn't be a corrupt file. A friend also tried this on his machine and had the same result.
I don't normally use either templates or SWFs, but I have just done a quick test in Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows Vista 32-bit. Dreamweaver inserted the SWF into an editable region without demur. It's definitely not a Dreamweaver bug.
Did your friend use the same template?
Since a JavaScript error is being generated, I suspect you have invalid code somewhere in your template, or perhaps you have given more than one element the same ID. Validate your page with the W3C validator (http://validator.w3.org/), and eliminate any errors it finds.

  • DevNet Studio 8 Not Allowed for CS3 Upgrade

I wanted to give a heads-up to all those that paid for
Macromedia Studio 8 through their DevNet subscription. Adobe is not
accommodating these paying customers in any upgrade path to CS3 Web
or Web Premium. I just spent 47 minutes on the phone with customer
service, and they indicated I would have to start all over, buying
the full suite, as if I wasn't a customer in the past.
This seems unreasonable to me, as it would have been cheaper
to buy the boxed software, rather than the DevNet subscription. If
you know any decision makers at Adobe, they should hear about this.

Just wanted to let you know that we are aware of this problem
    and the link
to this forum thread has been making the rounds of the upper
    levels of
Customer Service. Customer Service is working on clarifying
    this process
and making sure that everyone working with DevNet customers
    knows how to
handle these cases efficiently. Sorry for the inconvenience
    it's caused
you. If you're still having trouble upgrading DevNet products
    to CS3,
please send a Dreamweaver bug report including your incident
    number, so we
    can investigate:

  • Need help restoring file

This is a weird one. When working with Dreamweaver (CS6), I sometimes get a message "This file has been modified outside Dreamweaver. Do you want to reload it?" It happens a lot if I do a search-and-replace with another program, like TextWrangler. If I click YES, it simply updates the page.
Anyway, I just got this message on an unusually important file, clicked YES, and all the content disappeared. My preliminary research suggests it's some kind of Dreamweaver bug, and the data - which I just recently udpated - is probably lost.
However, when I look at the file in Dreamweaver's finder program, the icon shows that it's full of text, not empty. Is there a chance I might be able to somehow recover the lost content through Dreamweaver?
    Thanks.

Sheez, I answered my own question. I just opened the file with TextEdit, and all the content was there!

  • How to create SEO friendly, responsive "Coming Soon" page? [was:Help please! I am very new!]

    Hi Guys,
First off, this is my first post, and will be one of many, as the Dreamweaver bug his bitten, and bitten hard!
I am new to web design, and am learning Dreamweaver and want to become a web designed after hours as a second job/hobby.
I am currently (unsuccessfully) working on getting a "coming soon" page up and running.
I would like the image to be scalable - however then all my text goes everywhere. I cant have it as a image as then Google doesn't index it, as well as i need to have a hyperlink in the body of the text.
If someone could point me into the right direction, I would be forever thankful!
    I have attached the code:
    <html>
