Dreamweaver can't open .jpeg files...

When I try to insert a jpeg image onto a page, i get this
message: Dreamweaver can't open .jpeg files. Please choose an HTML,
XML or other compatible file. Most all of my images are jpegs and
I've never had a problem with them before. Any ideas why this is
happening now?

No, he said that DW gives him an error message: "Can't open
JPEG file" and
won't allow him to insert the file.

  • Error message: "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg files"

    I'm using DW 8, and I have installed the 8.0.2 update. I'm
having trouble inserting certain JPG images into a site. I get an
error message pop-up that states "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg
files". It will allow me to insert some jpg files, but not all of
them. I've tried drag & drop and going through the Insert menu.
The files are not large at all. Doesn't appear to be any problem
with png's or gif's. It's incredibly frustrating. Anyone have any
    suggestions? TIA.

    > why was i taught that all my web images need
    > to be in 72dpi if it doesn't really matter?
most people suggest 72 because it was an old standard with
    the early
macintosh DTP programs. For web use it's easier to
    standardize on it because
when you make an image, you have to put ~some~ number in the
    resolution box
and it might as well be 72 as any other number. It simplifies
    moving image
files around in different applications if they are all the
    same resolution.
For display in a browser, these will all have the same file
    size and display
    size in a web page:
    600x600 pixels at 1dpi
    600x600 pixels at 72dpi
    600x600 pixels at 6000dpi
It's when they are used in other applications or when a
    direct url like
/photos/1.jpg is printed out that they may display in the
    resolution, not
    the pixel dimension.
I came across a page once where the designer always saved his
    images with a
resolution of 6000 dpi or some other odd number because he
    thought that if
people dragged the image off the page to save it- most of
    them wouldn't be
able to resize it. or some other idiot reason maybe.

  • Can not open JPEG files and can not create JPEG files from other software

Can not open JPEG files and can not create JPEG files from other software (For example from Solidworks).
When I try to right click on a JPEG, a notice window appears written: "Windows Explorer has stopped working - Windows is
checking for a solution to the problem" and then the notice box disapears, the desktop appears and I can continue working.
From the other side - If I try to save as JPEG a screen of Solidworks (like a view of a part) the Solidworks falls but the JPEG
is created (I can see its name in the directory I created it).
I can open the JPEGS with the Paint software if I want but not with the Windows Photo Viewer.
I have the feeling that the Windows Photo Viewer disapeared from my computer - just a feeling.
    I will appreciate your assistance.

    Hi,
Did Windows Photo Viewer option appear when you right click the JPEG file and select open with?
I would like suggest you use Clean Boot to troubleshoot if there is third-party software conflict:

  • Dreamweaver can't open .class files

    Using:
    Dreamweaver CS4 Version 10 Build 4117
on Microsoft Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
I'm trying to edit Menalto PHP Gallery files via Dreamweaver. Some of Gallery's core php module files use the .class file extension. I want the following extensions to be treated as PHP files in Dreamewaver.
    phtml, class, cpt
I added these extensions to the following files.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\configuration\DocumentTypes\MMDocumentTypes.xml
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\configuration\Extensions.txt
    C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\DocumentTypes\MMDocumentTypes.xml
    C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\Extensions.txt
I set Vista to use Dreamweaver as the default program for opening .class files.
    I have restarted the computer.
I can open up phtml and cpt files just fine.  However, when I try and open .class files, I get the error:
    Dreamweaver can't open .class files
Please choose an HTML, XML, or other compatible file
I used Dreamweaver to create a new file in the Dreamweaver file pannel.  I called the new file test.class and opened it up in notepad.  Dreamweaver is successfully pre-populating the test.class file with the default PHP template.
So Dreamweaver is creating the test.class file using the default PHP template, but it still can't open .class files in Dreamweaver.
I think this might be a reserved extension or something.  Anyone else had a similar problem?

Hey, I gave up myself.  While I still use Dreamweaver for layout (HTML, images) work and for synching my website via SFTP, I don't code PHP in it anymore. Dreamweaver really isn't a PHP development IDE.  So, I do all my PHP work in something called NetBeans.  It is less user friendly but once you set it up... my goodness... is it great for coding PHP.  So Dreamweaver for visual stuff and HTML stuff.  NetBeans for PHP app development.  That's my suggestion.

  • Can't open Jpeg files in email

I just purchased a Samsung Continum.  I love it but I am unable to open jpeg files in my emails.  Am I missing something?

Just keep in mind, downloading has limitations. The maximum file size for picture / videos/attachments can vary from device to device. The file size limitation is based on the megapixels of the camera on the device. The maximum file size that can be sent from an email to a device is 3 MB. When any message over 350 KB is sent to the device, the file is reduced in size to be under 350 KB prior to delivery. If a device sends a 500 KB file to a device with a lower file size limit the file will be reduced to a file size acceptable by the receiving device.. A message that exceeds the other carrier's limits will be rejected and not reach the intended recipient.
Listed below are steps to download attachments
From a home screen, select Applications.
    Select Gmail.
    Select an email message.
View the email message. If the email message has an attachment (e.g. jpg, gif, bmp, etc.) select one of the following attachment options:
An installed application is required to download or preview some attachment types.
    --Download
Downloads the attachment to the SD card.
    --Preview
Previews the attachment within the viewed email.

  • Dreamweaver can't open any files

Today installed Dreamweaver CC on my new MacBook Air and when i tried to open a .html file i simple saw flash of the screen that should appear with my code and then it went back to the start up screen. I can create new files, edit, and save them. However i can't open anything. The files that i tried to open were made on my windows machine running Dreamweaver CC as well so i doubt it any compatibility. Yes, i have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it had mad not difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your system's hidden files are viewable, then clear the program cache and/or restore preferences...
    Deleting a corrupted cache file
Restore preferences | Dreamweaver CS6, Dreamweaver CC
If neither of those work, do a clean & reinstall using the Adobe Cleaner tool:

  • Can't Open jpeg files from Bridge CS3 to PhotoShop CS3

This is really weird. I had a trial version of CS3 and bridge worked fine. That ran out, so I tried CS2 to see if I could get by with the older version. CS2's bridge worked just fine.
Then I installed a full version copy of CS3 and removed CS2 (to free up space) and for some bizarre reason, I cannot open any files from bridge into Photoshop. It's the CS3 bridge because I clicked on the Help, About Bridge and it showed CS3.
When I just click "open" under file, it tries to open with Illustrator. When I click, "open with" I get this list: Adobe Illustrator CS3 (default), Firefox 2.0, Internet Explorer 6.00, and Paint 5.1.
I can't figure out a way to change the default to CS3, and it worked fine with the trials.
    Please advise.

It was a nice thought. I just did it, and associated all .jpg type files with photoshop, but no such luck in solving issue. I did figure out a way around it that kinda works, but not nearly as convenient. I drag select a group, then hold-click on the group and toggle into Photoshop, then let go. It pastes the group there. However, if I control click to select a group (or deselect within a group), I can't hold-click. So I have to do smaller groups at a time if I want to bypass certain pictures that get grabbed in a bigger group--does that make any sense at all?

  • I can't open email attachments on my ipad that have an arrow on them.  Those with a W open just fine. Also can't open jpeg files-- they also have an arrow on them. Any ideas?

Hi, I can't open email attachments that have an arrow on them. Attachments with a W (windows) open just fine. I have an ipad 3. Thanks for any ideas.

Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Photoshop Can't Open .png Files

Hey, I'm having a bit of trouble here with Photoshop CS5. When I drag & drop/open a .png picture in Photoshop, it gives me the following error:
I can open .jpeg files all good, and I'm not too sure about.gif or any others, cause I only use Photoshop mainly to do graphics and such. I did some research and other people insisted that is was a corrupted file within the Photoshop directory. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Well, Chris, I couldn't check by myself because I had a very little time in these days, too much work to do, but every kind of file have its own header as you may know, regardless of the file extension itself, so I wonder why Photoshop can't read the file header instead of the file extension, considering that file header is almost every 8byte long, so reading the first 8 bytes identify for sure the file type and then it can be handled by the specific function to view it. That's how programs usually work, extension are useful to the user to identify a file, but shouldn't be the only way a software identify a file type. Micosoft itself, that is known to be bad to user-friendly stuff, can open document with MSOffice even if they have not an extension. Mac open everything regardless of extension, Linux open everything regardless of extension.
Now, in this specific case I really don't know if the png have the right header, as I said I will check it as soon as I have time, but the above suggestion should be taken in consideration. Reading the first 8bytes of a file will not cause any performance issue, just two codes line to add (and an associative array with header->filetype to be passed to the PS CS5 function that open the files...).

  • Help! I can't open my files in ImageReady from Adobe Bridge

I have Photoshop CS2. I recently wiped my hard drive and reinstalled the original factory software, and then reinstalled Photoshop CS2, and it has been a little glitchy ever since then. For example, I arrange my files in Adobe Bridge, and then when I go back to them later they are not in the order I put them in. The program is putting the .BridgeSort file in the folder, so that is not the problem. When I restart the computer, if the last folder I had open in Bridge was sorted, it will still be sorted when I reopen Bridge, but if I open another folder that I already sorted it reverts back to the way it was before I sorted it.
Also, I can't open any files in Adobe ImageReady from Adobe Bridge. Before I wiped my computer, when I wanted to create a slideshow in ImageReady, I just selcted the files I wanted to open and then right-clicked and chose "open in / Image Ready", but now that doesn't even come up as an option. I have already tried uninstalling photoshop and reinstalling it but that didn't fix the problem.

    Try something like this:
    1. Use window explorer to find a jpeg on your computer
2  Right click on that jpeg file and go to Open With>Choose Program
    3. If the box that says:Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
is checked, uncheck it and then press the Browse button.
    4. Navigate to the location of the cs2 ImageReady program and double click on it, then
press ok in the dialog and the jpeg should open in ImageReady.
    5. Close ImageReady and right click on the jpeg and hopefully ImageReady will be
        listed as a choice.
Hopefully cs2 bridge will also show ImageReady as a choice for jpegs.
