Dreamweaver CC (2014)- will not start up

Jun 23, 2014
11:08 PM PDT
I too have the same problem. I installed Dreamweaver 2x and removed it 2x. Still No startup. Just bounces in dock for about 1/2 sec.
Mac Pro 4,1
10.7.5
16GB RAM
I have repaired permissions, checked the logs for errors- NONE.
What else is there to do. I really need this to work.
PS CS CC 2014, Audition, and Muse all work fine.
I cleaned the app and uninstalled.
Please add this to the locked discussion going on.
My Dreamweaver CC (and 2014) will not start/open up.

11:31 PM PDT
Hi,
New development this evening but I still need the conference.
I installed it on another drive in my Mac Pro whose system is 10.8.5- It
opened fine with the welcome screen.
Then I installed it on my main startup drive where all my applications are
and did not attempt to open it.
I then went to the 10.8.5 drive and moved all information regarding DW CC
2014 to the problem drive EXCEPT the actual application.
I pulled information out of /user:/Library/Adobe App. support, Library-
Adobe App. Support, and the /user/Library prefs folder.
Some of the information was merged with existing files and some were
replaced. Including all of the information from the Application folder
(again; except the actual application)
I then repaired user system preferences (just for the heck of it). I only
moved applicable information relating to Dreamweaver not other Adobe apps.
I then started up the Dreamweaver application and it started up fine. But I
didn¹t get the usual Welcome tutorial screen and when I want to open a file
in the resulting dialog box to navigate to a file it also shows all the
invisible files on my drive. Very odd. So yes it does work but there may
be other problems since this my be a symptom or just an isolated anomaly
which does not affect the use of the application.
I tried all my other Adobe apps. perpetual and subscription and they all
work fine.
When do you want to do the remote conference?
Thank You

  • Dreamweaver mx 2004 will not start on Mac running OSX 10.6.2

Right after installation I go to run Dreamweaver (or any of the mx 2004 suite), the item bounces, then dissepears and does not start up. I looked in the console and found the following item... "translate: MACH_RCV_PORT_CHANGED - INVALID POINTER, RCV BUFFER NOT SWAPPED".
Now, I have found hundreds of people on the internet having the same issue, and the standard replies given, (by the way, never work!). Re-installing does not work, clearing out the preferences does not work, re-installing the OS is not an option (I have a brand new laptop with OSX 10.6.2).
I did see that Adobe had received this error question, but they have removed it from their site. It seems that they do not want to address this issue for some reason. I would like to know how to fix this error. Let's put it this way, Anyone who buys a new Mac, then installs their MX Studio 2004, it will NOT work under any circumstances. I have seen hundreds of other people with the same problem, and never get it resolved. So, do I toss dreamweaver out for good or is there a fix that Adobe will allow anyone to talk about?

Re: "Alternatively, if you don't want to do this, the only other option I am aware of to solve this problem is to buy software like Fusion or Parallels and install Leopard (10.5) as your OS and run MX 2004 within a virtual environment."
Just so this is perfectly clear.....   NO CAN DO
I have VMWare and Parallels on a Brand New MacBook Pro. It came with 10.5.11 and that is absolutely the OLDEST Mac OS I can install in a virtual environment. Believe me, I tried Tiger, Panther and Jaguar to no avail.
If the Mac in question came loaded with Snow Leopard, it has a "Snow Leopard or better" firmware write on the logic board and it will not allow an older OS to be installed.... even in a virtual environment, unless there's a secret that nobody I've spoken to in support for both VM clients knows.

    Hi,
    Please try recreating the preferences
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs6-cc.html
in case it doesn't help then please delete all the files at the location :  /Users/<current user>/Library/Logs
Then try relaunching Adobe Dreamweaver again.
It will create these three files PDapp.log , amt3.log and oobelib.log on the location /Users/<current user>/Library/Logs
Collect these files and send to me over a private message.

  • Yosemite 10.10 - Dreamweaver CC 2014 will not open, get the bouncing icon, but fails to start. Illustrator

Hi Not sure if there is a workaround - really need to get DW up and running

Yosemite 10.10 is a beta release.  Why on Earth are you using a beta OS on your work box?
Try installing on a stable operating system for which CC was built.
EDIT:  See the technical specs required to run DW CC

  • Dreamweaver CC June 14 will not start up on a Mac OS 10.9.3.

I have the newest iMac 27 inch model. Downloaded Dreamweaver update and it will not start up, icon flashes but that is all that happens. Never shows up in dock. Earlier versions have worked and continue to. Have reviewed log file see nothing, fixed permissions, uninstalled and re installed. Still the same. Did start up on a different user on the same machine. Any suggestions on what might be causing the non-start?
    Thanks,
    Ted

Thanks for the suggestion. Dreamweaver never got far enough into the startup to even write pref files, so I had nothing to remove. Was able to get Dreamweaver to start up by coping the pref files from a "clean" user account that Dreamweaver started up in, to my normal user account. Now have to rebuild my server info files etc. as they did not transfer.
    thanks for the response.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 will not start

I've had this problem for several weeks and thought I had it fixed by resetting the Preferences (http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs4-cs5.html), however, my DCS6 application will not start again, and it seems to happen when I'm out of my docking station, and working from home.
Initally, I uninstalled/reinstalled DCS6 twice, and each time it worked, and then stopped working when I got out of the dock.  Then, as I said, I found the documentation to remove the established Preferences.  It worked fine in the office, but will not load again working from home.
The DW logo comes up on the screen, but hangs there.  It never loads plug-ins or any of the other animations I normally see on the logo screen during a normal launch.  The only way to stop the logo is to open Task Manager, locate Dreamweaver(whatever).exe under the Processes Tab and End Task.  Dreamweaver is not listed in the Applications Tab.
Fortunately, Dreamweaver CS5.5 wasn't automatically deleted when I installed the new software, and it works fine, so at least I can get my work done.
i need some help with this, please.
    Thank you.
    Frank

So I take it that you have also cleared the registry entries as suggested in the document linked in your first post.
So we now need to prove that your Windows Profile isn't the culprit to make DW un-startable.  To prove this, create a new user account  on your machine (temporary or otherwise).  To do this follow these instructions:
    To create a user account
To open User Accounts, click the Start button , click Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety, and then click User Accounts.
Click Manage another account. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
      Click Create a new account.
Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.
Please post back if this worked or not.  If it worked then you may want to use this account for your DW work otherwise we need to find some other solution.  Make sure the account is Limited if you plan to use for everyday work because creating an Administrator account is not advisable.
    Good luck this time.

  • Settings (and other Apps) Will Not Start (Metro)

This is a current Windows 8.1 installation, full up to date on patches, and the problem still occurs after rebooting. I checked for newly installed patches, etc. and the only thing recent was the Windows Defender definitions update.
It's an i7 with 32 GB of RAM, fast SSD's etc. I don't believe this is a hardware problem in any way.

That matches almost exactly with the referenced thread. But that thread never seemed to give a set of steps to resolve the issue (other than doing a Refresh which would be a catastrophic waste of time, reinstalling my whole development environment).

  • DW CS4 Will Not Start

I'm using DW CS4 and have been for many months without any problems - Version 10.0/Build 4117. All of a sudden it will not start, When I click on its icon I see the big green DW block and then a Microsoft notice saying Dreamweaver CS4 has stopped working - a problem..... and the only choice I have is to close the program. I've restarted my computer and tried again, with no success. The program sits in my Program Files/Adobe folder on my C: drive.
I badly need the program for the work I'm doing. I've added no new software to my computer lately - at least none that I know of.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I meant create a new user account on your laptop. There are some settings that are stored on a per user basis so creating a new user may clear a setting.
However, that may not help in your case - I have been trying to help someone else and got your two problems mixed up.
The only reason that I had the editor fail before was resolved by running the disk cleanup and check tools.
As you have returned the product, you could try installing the trial version. If you get it to work, then you may be able to buy a boxed version from Amazon or similar. I'm not sure where you are but the boxed version can often be on special offer from the big stores at a cheaper price.

    Welcome to the forum!
Let's try this: remove the battery, hard and media drives. Unplug the AC adapter. Press the "power" button 10 times in a row, holding it down for 10 seconds each time and 30 seconds the last time around.
Plug the AC adapter back in and try to power on.
Good luck and let us know.

  • Muse 2014 will not save changes.

Muse 2014 will not save changes. Just freezes when asked to save. Cannot do a save as either. However, can still work on file… but unable to save. Very frustrating losing work and wasting time! Any thoughts would be welcomed.

    Zak,
Thank you for the speedy reply.  I have been having issues since Saturday. Works sometimes and then not. Restarting computer sometimes works… but a pain in the butt to do! Is starting to drive me crazy.
Also when I try to quit Muse, well it stays open… sort of. Image is on screen, but not functional. Weird, to say the least.
Attached is a files. I did open it earlier today and managed to do some work and save it. Now nothing after a few hours of work and thought was being saved as I did “command S” very frequently. It is very, very frustrating and brings me back some 25 years ago when crashes were expected and common. Today, not so much!  I am not a rookie and would like to know what the issues are asap… if possible.
    Many thanks for your help.
