Dreamweaver CC delivers a beachball on Mac constantly

Hi, I have about 30 sites that I have developed in versions of Dreamweaver going back to Dreamweaver 8. I primarily use Dreamweaver for managing my files, editing css, and uploading to the server. Earlier this week it took a very long time to connect to a site. I had to force quit Dreamweaver. Now, when I try and access any site or do anything in Dreamweaver I get a Mac OS beachball it spins for a minute (literally -- a minute, sometimes more) and then allows me to do my task. Because it is so slow I also get frequent operation timed out errors. These sites are primarily Drupal or Wordpress sites.
At this stage Dreamweaver CC is virtually unusable. I have deleted my MacFileCache-********.dat file, I unchecked the menu item "Display External Files" (under View), and I have restarted the Mac a half dozen times. I noticed on a thread at http://forums.adobe.com/message/5512834#5512834 that there is a problem with "Site Specific Code Hints." Even though I have PHP files, I have not activated these hints or the server. So is there any way I can get Dreamweaver CC to simply upload and edit files?
By the way, returning to Dreamweaver CS6 and accessing the same sites works fine right now.  This is all on Mac OS 10.8.4.

Hi Jerry,
Can you try to recreate your site prefs and let us know the results
In order to recreate the Site Prefs file,
Open DW and go to Manage Sites. Select all sites and do an export of all .ste files, with passwords and user names, into a temporary folder and close DW.
Now find file folder called "12.0" or 13.0" in the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/12.0 (13.0 for the cloud version)/Sites/ and rename it to "12.0_old" or whatever.
Reopen DW and it will recreate a new blank "Site Prefs" file. Go to "Manage Sites..." and click on "Import Site". Select all of the .ste files and import them.
DW will update the site's cache the first time you open each site and it might also ask you to give permission to access the password stored in you keychain. Choose "Always Allow" for each one.
Let us know if this helps or feel free to contact me at vharis_@_Adobe_._com(please ignore the underscores) if the issue persists , so that we can meet over a connect session to go over this issue

  • Mac constantly says keychain not found

My Mac constantly brings up a message telling me the keychain is not found. I just click cancel but it is an annoyance. I tried to reset my default keychain in the Keychain Access program but it brings up a UNIX (Invalid Argument) message. Any ideas?

There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, testing after each one, until it's resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Follow the directions in this support article.
    Step 2
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the iCloud keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
    Step 3
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device.
    Step 4
Open the Keychains folder as in Step 1. There should be a file in that folder with the name "login.keychain". If there is also a file iwith the name "login_renamed_1.keychain", then please do as follows:
    ☞ Rename login.keychain to "login-old.keychain".
    ☞ Rename login_renamed_1.keychain to "login.keychain".
You can then close the folder.
Delete the login keychain from the keychain list in Keychain Access. Choose Delete References when prompted, not Delete References & Files.
    Select
              File ▹ Add Keychain...
from the menu bar. Add back the file now named "login.keychain". If any of your needed keychain items are missing from it, also add back the file now named "login-old.keychain". I suggest you transfer any needed items from that keychain to the login keychain, then delete it. The transfers are made by drag-and-drop in Keychain Access. You'll need to enter your password for each item transferred.
Run Keychain First Aid again. Quit Keychain Access.

That could be the problem. If you actually mean DWCS6 and not DWCC 2014.1.1 when you say "latest" (check out Help > About Dreamweaver for your actual version) it requires the older Java SE 6 to be installed on the Mac. See if reinstalling it helps...
    Java for OS X 2014-001
If you're using DWCC 2014 and updated your OS after having DW installed, you may need to reinstall to work out the kinks. Using the Cleaner Tool from Adobe to reinstall will give you a completely fresh installation...

  • Dreamweaver CC crashes fequently on by Mac

The instability of Dreamweaver CC is completely unacceptable.  I'm paying for Adobe Service and these frequent crashes and general instability of the program have cost me much time and money. I am fed up.
Adobe products in the past have been outstanding.
Dreamweaver CC, at least on my Mac, has never been satisfactory.
I would like to hear from Adobe about my concerns.  I have not used CC much beyond Photoshop, AI and DW.  The first two have worked well but DW has been a source of constant frustration.
Does this problem with DW exist for other CC users, or is this a problem unique to me? If the former, unless Adobe can fix the DW instability promptly, all users of DW CC should not be charged a monthly fee for using it.
From time to time I have gone back to DW 5.5 because of frustration with DW CC.  If I am forced to do that there is little point in my continuing to use DW CC.Dreamweaver

I'm using Mac without problems.  Can you replicate the crash with a specific set of actions everytime?  If so it could be a bug that went unnoticed and would need to be filed: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
If it's random have you tried the normal kb article (#12 & #4 and go through the rest as necessary): http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-javascript-errors-dreamweaver-cs4.html
And as a worst case scenario, have you tried creating another user account on your mac and performing the same actions in that user account to rule out OS user profile corruption?

  • Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 on Mac Constantly Hangs / Crashes Since Yosemite Update.

Deleting Cache file didn't help, but deleting the Configuration Folder made the program function for about an hour.
The hangs occur during changing site and saving a file.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply.
After posting this question, I received a private message from Admin System Support saying I should uninstall Creative Cloud and they'll send me a copy of CS6.
This didn't sound like something Adobe would suggest and there was no way I'd go for that option anyway, so I started a live support chat.
Their suggestion was for me to try Dreamweaver in a different Admin account on this Mac.
I hadn't yet tried uninstalling and re-installing Dreamweaver, as this is also quite time consuming when you have a mountain of work to get through and was hoping for a solution similar to deleting a cache file.
An uninstall and reinstall was a quicker option that creating another Admin account, so I did that and it seems to be running OK now.
I'll post an update towards the end of the week if things are still looking good, but if not, I'll try the advice above.
Thanks for you response and I will share a link to one of my crash logs shortly, but my Creative Cloud files are currently refusing to sync.

  • Upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 for Mac, constantly freezes and crashes, have to force quit, bad bugs. Switching to Safari.

I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1, and it now constantly freezes, won't respond at all, and has to be force quit and restarted. Within less than 5 minutes of use, over and over and over... I'm assuming it is a bug in the Mac version.... Am switching to Safari as I can't waste this much time constantly quitting and restarting and getting my tabs all back up. Any suggestions on ways to let Firefox know about the bug would be greatly appreciated. It worked fine until I upgraded :( Am running Mac OS X 10.6.7

  • Dreamweaver wont open any files in Mac OS 10.6.3

I just reinstalled CS4 on my Mac becasue every time I try to open any file, the window panels all blink (refresh) and then nothing happens. The reinstall did not help...nothing has helped.
Even when I go to the "Info" panel for any file and try to do a "Open With" and change it to be CS4...it switches back to Firefox.
Creating a new file in Dreamweaver is fine...I can edit it all day long. However, once I save it and try and reopen...nothing...just those dang panel refreshes.
Has anyone come into this issue and if so, has any idea how to fix this...or even where the issue is? Is it in Dreamweaver, Firefox, Mac OS?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks!

I have not heard of this problem before.  Have you tried a system permissions repair, and then de-activate your software (Help->Deactivate) and then run the Adobe - Adobe CS4 Clean Script before re-installing?

  • Dreamweaver cs6 not responding on a mac

I tried opening dreamweaver cs6 and it never got passed the welcome window. I updated with the latest updates, no change. I reinstalled DW and the same story. My OS is 10.7.5 mountain lion on a quadcore mac pro. Has anyone else have this issue?

When you reinstalled, did you run the cleaner tool?
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
If not, I would reinstall again and use the cleaner. DW can leave behind files on an uninstall that can affect a new installation. The cleaner gets rid of everything.

  • Beachball time, Mac Mini

OK, I know what you're thinking..that the Mac Mini wasn't designed for FCP, and that the G5 is really the only machine to work on. I used to have 2 DP G5s, so I'm aware of their power.
My mini gives me huge amounts of beachball time when working on my 720p animation. I get little or no beachball time when working with DV footage, either animorphic or not.
The beachball time I get in my animation doesn't go away. I'll get the beach ball, it'll stop. I'll try to pull down a menu and I'll get more beach ball. It'll stop, I'll try to do something else and yes, more beach ball.
    ad nauseam.
The mini's boot volume is a 200GB external FW drive, 7200RPM, and I have my FCP projects folder on another such 7200RPM FW drive.
My hunch is that those drives' thruput isn't enough to sustain continuous play, but why the never-ending beachball episodes.
It's like it gets mad and won't stop beachballing.
    Any suggestions?
Do I need to create a partition for Panther and run FCP 4.5HD on that?
I've got the mini running on the latest rev. of Tiger right now.
    thanks for any hints!

my final destination is the small screen. I'm not concerned with TV or with CRTs. I was aiming for something that would play on LCD screens, potentially go to film, hence the 24 frame rate.
In terms of converting to Anamorphic DV can I get there by re-exporting my existing clips to 800 x 450 px? They're in Animation format now; would re-exporting them cause artifacts or damage?
I guess what I mean to ask is: how would I convert my existing animation clips, and how should I render my clips from here on out? All at 800 x 450?
Thanks much for the ideas..I guess I was just a hair ambitious hoping to do this with a mini!

  • How can I activate Dreamweaver CS3 on a second Apple Mac when the original Mac has gone wrong?

    I have Dreamweaver CS3.
I have used it on my laptop and my desktop Macs.
In the past, I have simply deactivated it on one Mac to use it on the other.
My laptop, which has Dreamweaver activated on it, has a graphics card problem and is in for repair.
I cannot use the Dreamweaver installed on my desktop computer because I cannot de-activate it on the laptop (which is being repaired by Apple and which Apple say they can't access to de-activate it, because there is no screen display).
This is obviously going to be a future problem if one of the Macs blows up while Dreamweaver is activated on it. I will not be able to use the Dreamweaver I bought nor service my website.
    Help! ?

You could always download the trial version until the laptop is fixed. But, I don't know if you can even save a file from CS5 that would be compatible in 3.  It is sucky to not have the single user, two activation license. This is one of the things I applaud Adobe for. Most major software licenses are meant for a single machine, and not so concerned about users - that they know it's unlikely that several users would share a machine.it does happen, but it's also quite an inconvenience.  The two activation solution takes into account a more realistic scenario for a single user. The other option being used with some programs is the dongle, which I also like, even though many others don't for various and valid reasons. Anyway, I just looked at a page in cs4 and it doesn't really save in any particular version, HTML is HTML. I just don't know what will happen if someone goes to open it in CS3 - will it open less any CS4 code, not open, erase the code on save? Will it be the same for 5? Just wondering as you may be able to use the trial.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 -- Kinda Buggy on a Mac

I'm using Dreamweaver CS5 (v.11, build 4964) on my Mac (OSX 10.6.6) and I must say, it's kind of buggy.  The thing crashes every once and a while but what's currently irking me is the Files Panel where instead of getting one half 'local' and one half 'remote', I've got the 'remote' overlapping the 'local' side making things like the vertical scrollbar for the 'local' side completely unusuble.
I hope the powers-that-be at Adobe follow these forums.  You really expect better from a major piece of commerical software like this.

Unfortunately the powers that be don't read these forums.  So your best bet is to fill out a bug report:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
I haven't noticed the crashing so much, but if you post the details, it is possible that there is a KB article about it.  Only bug that bothers me on the Mac side in SL is the color bug where the color selector is always black and never actually changes color like it did in previous versions.
