Dreamweaver CC "hangs" when external scripts are embedded

Hi there,
I´ve got a problem with Dw CC:
When embedding an external JS (like typekit or jquery) with
<script type="text/javascript" src="//use.typekit.net/xxxxxx.js"></script>
Dw needs a lot of time to open the file and hangs for seconds (application window greys out) when editing a script.
If I embed the same script with a leading http:// (src="http://use.typekit.net/xxxxxx.js">) everything is fine.
Same with jQuery embedded via CDNs.
I have a clean install of Adobe CC.
Problem occurs on:
Windows 7 Pro, 64bit, all updates installed
Windows 8, 64bit
Thanks for help or suggestions.

Hello,
Is there any fix planned for this issue?
Facebook like, twitter share, google + all use "//" in their button embed scripts.
I'm not sure if the guys at Adobe even know it's an issue.
Just add the http. All the // does is make the browser use http or https  depending on what the current page has. If the current page is http, the browser adds http to that script link. If the page is https, the browser will add that instead.
The only reason I can find to use // is to make the coding on pages a tiny bit easier if you have some secure pages among all of your normal pages. The // makes it so you wouldn't need to change the code of each page individually to get the right file, avoiding the goofy "this page has both secure and insecure, blah blah blah" error messages.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 hangs when opening file

Starting recently Dreamweaver CS6 hangs for 30 seconds or more, sometimes saying not responding, when I open an HTML file. It appears to do this when the file contains links to external places. To test I created a file that contained nothing except the "new HTML file" basic headers, saved the file, then opened. This test file did not hang.
I have tried the registry fix "ResolveRemoteURLToIPAddress FALSE" and deleting the personal configuration directory (with Dreamweaver closed). Neither of these solved the problem. Dreamweaver still hangs when opening a file.
    Any other ideas?
    Barry.

Once the document opens, check the code for any protocol relative links (links that start with // rather than http://) and change them to http:// links, at least during development. It is a know issue to Adobe and will cause what you describe.
If you don't have any protocol relative links, links to third party sites can cause issues from time to time if their servers are slow or have any kind of conflict with your network. Unless you absolutely can't, you may want to copy those external scripts to your local site and link to the local versions instead, again, during development.

Dreamweaver CS6 hangs when trying to access an SFTP site - or at least I think that SFTP could be the reason.
    Beachball forever....
It works fine when trying to access other sites.
The one addity is that when I go into "Manage Sites" and test it, it connects fine.
I am running OSX 10.8.2.  I upgraded from 10.7 to see if this problem would go away.

  • Poor quality when visio obejcts are embeded into word

    hi,
when i embed a visio object into a word doc and then link this word doc to a robohelp most of the graphics done in visio look terrible in the html or flash help (very low resolution) and i can't find out how to fox this (if i do exactly the same in component one doc-to-help it all looks just perfect)
is there a way to somehow change settings how vector objects which are embedded in word are beeing converted?
-> please note that neither converting my visio objects into images manuelly is NOT a solution since it kills the dynamic of the document, nor can i add graphic files to my robohelp project manually - all editing must be done solely in word in our case

    Hi there
To my knowledge, DocToHelp is Word based, no? I see you posted this to the RoboHelp HTML forum. (I can't believe I'm even suggesting this, but here goes.) Have you tried using RoboHelp for Word? If not, perhaps it's worth trying.
On the up side, it may convert just as you would hope and things will work dandy. On the down side, there isn't all that much of a user base for RoboHelp for Word. I'm not sure if any training exists for it as well.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Essbase performance issue when calc scripts are run on FDM cube on same server

We have a large Essbase application which has high usage on a daily basis, which is being impacted when we run Calc scripts on an FDM forecast cube which is on the same server. The large application is on EIS 11.1.2 and the FDM cubes are being migrated to the same server and also being upgraded from EIS 7.1 on Unix to EIS 11.1.2 on NT. Every time the Calc scripts are run on the FDM cube, the performance of the Essbase application is degraded and it shuts down after some time.

    Sudhir,
Do you work at a help desk or are you a consultant? you ask such a varied range of questions I think the former. If you do work at a help desk, don't you have a next level support that could help you? If you are a consultant, I suggest getting together with another consultant that actually knows more. You might also want to close some of your questions,. You have 24 open and perhaps give points to those that helped you.

  • When external speakers are plugged in to headphone jack, sound randomly goes back to internal speakers or digital audio setting, then back again

I have an essentially new MacBook Pro with Lion and all updates applied, and am wondering if this is a hardware or software problem.  Essentially with something plugged into the headphone jack, things work as they are supposed to for a while, then the sound will switch back to internal speakers, or sometimes 'digital out' (I can watch it change in the system settings), and then often switch back.  It doesn't seem to follow any sort of pattern or be related to any specific application that could be open, and happens with different sources of audio (iTunes, streaming from the web), and different external speakers or headphones plugged in.

Sounds hardware related. If it's brand new, and you're still under warranty I would have it checked out.
I have not experienced this on my computer.
As I understand it, you have analog RCA outputs from an 1/8" to left and right RCA outputs. when you're randomly using the computer, it'll switch to internal speakers, then to digital audio, back to your stereo analog external speakers.
This should not be happening and if it's happening with streaming content (I am unaware of anything that streams in 5.1 digital audio) then this must be something that an apple specialist should look at and consider.
Does this happen with the headphone jack out? when you hold your finger over the headphone jack area does a red beam come out of it *blinking* or just on? This will be a good indicator that your audio hardware is faulty. are you running HDMI out?

  • IPhoto 6 Hangs When "Recovered Photos" Are Opened

iPhoto 6 "recovered" 300+ photos when I updated from iPhoto 5. I can still see the recovered photos in both my library and albums, but if I double-click on the photos, iPhoto 6 hangs with a spinning ball icon requiring a Force Quit to recover. I can open the photos in the "Recovered Photos" album, but I'm not sure how to get them back into my library and other albums. Has anyone been able to do this?
    Thanks, Will
    G5, 2 GHz, Dual Processors   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

When upgrading to iPhoto 6, the 'recovered photos' it finds are stored as follows:
a if you opt to import the photos when iPhoto asks, they are left where iPhoto found them (or lost them, depending on how you view it...) in the 'year' folder system, within the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder; e.g. 2005>12>15>photo.jpg, 2003>10>05>photo2.jpg etc. Within iPhoto itself the photos are grouped in one new roll, and an album is created in the Source list called "Recovered Photos".
b if you opt not to import the photos, they are moved from the 'year' folder system in the Finder into one folder within the iPhoto Library folder, entitled "Recovered Photos". The 'year' folders can be deleted, if they are still there - you should find that they are empty and they are not used by iPhoto 6.
In Case b you can move the "Recovered Photos" folder to anywhere you like, e.g the Desktop, as the photos are no longer associated with iPhoto. In fact, if you decide you need to import some or all of the photos back into iPhoto, you will have to move the RP folder to another location as iPhoto will disallow any import from within the iPhoto Library folder.
Take care either way; in my case I had 1014 recovered photos, which included all of the following:
a originals of some of my photos, the edited versions were still in iPhoto
b random duplicates of original photos
c photos, both original and edited versions, which I had deleted long ago - sometimes as long as 2-3 years, many versions of iPhoto ago!
When I have chance soon I intend to document my own personal recovery procedure / experience, in case it helps anyone else when upgrading. In the meantime, feel free to ask if you have any questions...

  • MacBook White lagging and hanging when certain applications are being run

My 9-month-old MacBook White (Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz) lags whenever I use SketchUp, and hangs sometimes when I use FlightGear or X-Plane (flight simulators). No other applications were running when these were being used. Is it a CPU problem, or a RAM shortage? Any answers and/or clarification would be much appreciated.

Can you go to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor and check that all the processes you are running are Intel (you will find this info under the "Kind" column in the Activity Monitor window).
Also see (in the same window, under the "%CPU" column) if there appears to be any processes which are using an inordinate amount of CPU.

  • IPhoto 7.1.1 hangs when Titles & Keywords are turned on

Like many others, I had the spinning beach ball problem after updating to 7.1.1. Following the popular advice, I repaired permissions, rebuilt thumbnails, and deleted preferences, the last of which seemed to solve the problem. But then, I began changing my settings back to the way I like them and suddenly I was getting the beach ball again. The problem is most noticeable when selecting Library>Photos.
As it turns out, having either or both View>Titles and View>Keywords checked causes iPhoto to hang. View>Ratings has no ill effect. I have tried turning them back on and off just to test this and I get the same results each time.
I'm curious to know if others are experiencing the same thing and are able to solve it the same way.

    Todd:
Rebuild the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the options to rebuild the database and repair permissions.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • [Solved] Wierd boot order when external drives are connected

So, I've got two external drives, an ntfs drive and ext4 drive. After a recent upgrade, I get this error message when starting up the computer with them connected.
    Bootloader: syslinux.
    For the ntfs drive:
    ::performing fsck on '/dev/sda1'
    fsck: fsck.ntfs: not found
fsck: error 2 while executing fsck.ntfs for /dev/sda1
    ERROR: fsck failed on '/dev/sda1'
    ::mounting '/dev/sda1' on real boot
    mount: unknown filesytem type 'ntfs'
For the ext4 drive (Megadrive is the name of the hard drive):
    ::performing fsck on '/dev/sda1'
Megadrive: clean, 230913/188148544 files, 193365856/732566385 blocks
ERROR: Root device mounted successfully, but /sbin/init does not exist. Bailing out, you are your own. Good luck.
With both of them connected, it gives the same message as for when the ext4 external is connected. When they are both disconnected, it finds the proper drive that I recorded in syslinux.cfg file.
What could be causing this? If someone could point me in the direction of how to troubleshoot this, that would be a great help?

  • Extremely slow performance when external drives are plugged in.

I've had lots of freezing issues during startup just recently. After a lot of messing around I removed an iOmega Firewire HDD that was constantly plugged in and the freezing issues have gone. Great! But as I tried to plug it back into my machine once everything had loaded up, the machine became unusably slow.
I've also tried plugging in USB drives, like my iPhone, camera and memory stick and it has the same effect.
Anyone else had this same problem or any ideas how to fix it?

    HI,
*"I've also tried plugging in USB drives, like my iPhone, camera and memory stick and it has the same effect."*
How much free space on the startup disk? Might be an underlying issue ...
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*
If you need to free up space on the startup disk go here.
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html
If free space is not an issue, then boot from your install disc and run Disk Utility.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart

Does anyone know what's going on?

I have CS6 and running windows XP. Mine also hangs up. Tried what you said arorasps but does nothing.
Also before that, I get a splash screen asking for user name and password.
