Dreamweaver CC not prompting to put dependent files when uploading ColdFusion .cfm files?

I just 'upgraded' (if you consider DW CC an upgrade) from CS6 to CC, and am having problems with .cfm files.
I have followed all the instructions to get DW CC to open and edit .cfm files..... and it does this just fine. I have also installed the server behaviours and databases panel extension.
However heres the BIG problem: when I want to upload a .cfm file to a server, I am no longer getting a prompt to upload dependent files! It prompts me fine if I upload a .html file, but not .cfm.
I mostly work with .cfm files and make changes to CSS files regularly. Whenever I upload a .cfm it is essential that DW also uploads the dependent files associated with it.
Please how can I fix this issues? I have gone into preferences and all the boxes are checked correctly to prompt for dependent files when putting/getting. I'm so stuck I'm thinking about cancelling my CC products and going back to CS6.

I have now discovered that DW CC does not prompt to upload dependent files if the file extension is .CFM or .ASPX.
This is seriously frustrating Adobe..... !!!

  • Put dependent files prompt? [subject edited by moderator]

When I try to upload to the internet this is the message I get all the time can anybody help me with this?
Put dependent files? Selecting "Don't show me this message again" will hide this dialog until re-enabled from the Site category of the Preferences dialog box. Your most recent choice (Yes/No) will be processed automatically while hidden.

What don't you understand about it?
Dependent files are the ancillary files contained in your document like scripts, style sheets, images, videos, etc...  If you click "no," DW will NOT automatically upload those files to your server.  If you click yes, DW will automatically upload those files to your server.
If you don't want to see this screen again, you can turn it on/off under Edit > Preferences > Site.
I prefer to keep it turned on.   But that's up to you.

  • How to stop DW putting Dependant Files?

I've never found a solution that's worked for me, but today
    I've had enough!
I have setup site access via RDS, so there is no 'Local' set
of files, I'm working directly on our development server and saving
the files, and testing changes immediately.
I like to save often and keep checking my changes so that I
don't break anything, but everytime I save, DW spends 20+ seconds
    putting dependant files.
My dreamweaver preferences for dependent files are set to
Prompt, which it certainly isn't doing.
How can I resolve this? thanks.

As long as you use an FTP & RDS site, there is no such
    thing as PUT. There
is no local site. Edits are immediately saved on the server.
But - check your preferences for Site and make sure that the
    PROMPT on
PUT/GET is ENABLED. Then save, and when prompted make sure
    you a) click the
don't show again, and b) you click NO. Does that help?

    A Espinoza,
The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities.  So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

I want to take files from my PC (using a Seagate external hard drive) then plug this Seagate External hard drive into my Mac Book Pro and move the files from the Seagate External Hard drive onto my Time Capsule. I do not want to put these files on my Mac. How do I do this? Where do I put these files on my Time Capsule? Will it affect the functioning of my Time Capsule?

Mixing files with data is not always great idea.
    See info here.
    Q3 http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
Why not just connect the PC directly to the TC by ethernet and copy the files over?
It is hugely faster and much less mucking around.
In windows load the airport utility for windows.. if you have not already as this will help you access the drive.

  • "put dependent files" file name in dialog

<good> When I'm doing a Save All, and I get the dialog asking to put dependent files... this dialog pops up for each of the files to be saved. </good>
But,  I don't see anywhere on it the name of which file I'm trying to put in this instance.  (It did show up in a dialog just prior to the "put dependent files" dialog, but now is obscure.)
Is this configurable, or should I raise an enhancement request....?

Are you downloading the file (right-click, save link as), or just opening it by clicking it?
If the latter, then what happens is the file is loaded to the temporary internet files folder by IE and assigned a temporary name, which is then used when you're trying to save it.
You can test this out by going to File - Document Properties before trying to save and looking at the file's location.

  • How to turn off "putting depending files" ?

Is there such option in DW ? I do not upload automaticly all the related files, I just want to upload one saved file. Anyone can help?

When Dreamweaver displays the dialog box that asks about uploading dependent files, select the "Don't show this message again" check box, and click No. Dreamweaver will remember that you don't want to put the dependent files.
If you can't see the dialog box, go to Preferences (Edit menu on Windows, DW menu on a Mac), and select the Site category. Select the option for Prompt on put/check in, and click OK. The next time you upload a file, Dreamweaver will ask you if you want to upload dependent files. Select "Don't show this message again", and click No.

  • RH10 not prompting to get latest files or check in changes

    Hi,
Our documentation group consists of 5 writers. We all upgraded from RH9 to RH10 this week. We use Visual SourceSafe as our version control system. I upgraded a project, closed and reopened it, and was prompted to get the latest files, as expected. When I close the project, I am prompted to check in the files, as expected.
    Here's the problem:
When another writer opens the same project, she is not prompted to get the latest files. When she changes a topic, it gets checked out automatically, but when she closes the project, she is not prompted to check in the files.
She and I have the same version control settings in the project (Tools --> Options --> Version Control).
What could be causing this? Is there a user-level setting somewhere that might have gotten modified when she upgraded to RH110? Everything was working as expected for her in RH9 (she was being prompted to get the latest files and check in the files).
    Thanks,
    Amy

  • "Not connected to internet" error only when uploading large files.

    Hi,
I have a strange problem that occurs when im uploading large files to any of my servers....
The files upload just fine but while im uploading im unable to use the internet for anything else. For example if I try to open a web page I get an error saying im not connected to the internet. This error will persist until the file finishes uploading.
Its a strange and annoying problem and was wondering if anybody could throw any light on the problem.
I cant be sure but it may have coincided with me connecting a new Netgear wireless modem router.
    Many thanks
    Matt

Hi Sorry, only just noticed your reply. Didn't get an email alert like I usually do.
Thanks for that. To be honest I have no idea what QOS is but I will take a look at the routers settings to see if it makes sense to me.
    Thanks

  • Dreamweaver Dependent Files

    Hi,
i have a question about dependent files in Dreamweaver. Let's say I'm working directly on the FTP server (yes I know it's bad practice). When I open a file from this FTP the dialog appears asking me if I want to download depended files. I click no. After I edit the file I save it. It all works great. The problem starts when I try to edit this file on second computer where I already edited it before.
Dreamweaver creates local file when you open file on FTP server. When I open online file on FTP again on this second computer and click NO for downloading dependent files, sometimes the file still gets overwritten with older version of this file that Dreamweaver has stored locally. That's how I loose all changes I've done on first computer. This happens mostly to the files that are added to .html files like .css, .js and so on.
Can somebody explain to me what's the right way to use this dependent files or how to disable this function. I can't remember but I think you can't disable this function in CS4. Can you do it in CS5?
    Thank you

If you are working on a site that exists in full (all associated files) only on the server, how do you keep straight your current files, unless you specifically delete your local files after each "on the FTP server" editing session? Sounds like a real pain in the neck.
And it seems kind of risky to me.
Here's how I would handle working on one uploaded site and two computers. This would also hold when two persons in different places (on different computers) work on the same site.
Keep the server version always totally up to date.
Turn on the "check in/check out" system, so a file cannot be opened without opening the server version.
If you don't want to use "check in/check out", always download the up to date version of a page whenever you edit it. Also download the dependent files. In truth, files will not download again if your local version is already identical to the file on the server.
If there really are two people working from two different computers, you need to work out a system of communication...you don't want to overwrite someone else's changes, or have them overwrite yours. That is what "check in/check out" is perfect for.
Always work locally and upload your changed pages (and auxiliary/dependent files) to the server
Periodically do a "synchronize" to make sure your local site and your server site are identical. Do this from both computers.
Remember that by working locally and keeping a copy of your site locally in one or two places is insurance. If you do not do that, and your server goes down or corrupts your site, how will you retrieve your files? Make them all over again? If you have them on your local computer, you need only upload a copy of your site and you're back in business.
You do not want to disable "dependent files", because they are the files that make your page work. When you allow Dreamweaver to keep track of your files for you via synchronize and downloading the dependent files, it will do a good job. When you try to take more of that function on yourself manually, you effectively 'break' the system by subverting the program from its innate tasks.

  • Dependent Files Dialog Default Button

Sometimes I think I've been halucinating, but ...
I could have sworn that when I first installed Dreamweaver CS6 that the default button on the put Dependent Files dialog was "No". And then one day the default became "Yes". I almost feel like I hit some mystical key-combo that changed it's behaviour & mine. Hmmm.
So is there a way to change the default button to "No"? It would be my preference.
    Thanks in advance!

    I couldn't possibly comment.
I remember writing something about the way dependent files work many moons ago, so I checked my "Essential Guide to DW CS4" and found a little gem of information that I had completely forgotten about.
The default for Put Dependent Files is No. However...
If you deselect the check box labelled  "FTP transfer options: Select default action in dialogs after [30] seconds", guess what happens?
You've got it... The default changes to Yes.
Heaven only knows why this happens, but select that check box again, and your sanity should be preserved for a little while longer.

  • What Are Dependent Files?

Whenever I am uploading my site I get a Do you wish to put dependent files thing on, can someone please explain to me what this is?:

For one thing, your page is too wide and offset 350px to the right.  On my display, I have to horizontal scroll quite a bit to the see it.  Not a good user experience.
Explicit height values on containers limit how much content your page can hold.  This will create problems later when you need to add more text.
See this article for more on why APDivs are really bad for primary layouts.
    http://www.apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php
For best results, use one of the pre-built CSS Layouts in DW.  Go to File > New > Blank page > HTML.  Select a layout from the 3rd panel and hit Create.

    Hi,
You can use the below to attach the file from BSP to SAP. But it doesnt use the BAPI - 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2'. It works perfectly for me. Let me know if you have any questions.
Note: This code put the file into SAP Directory "/userapps/master_data/" as well as it upload the file into Transaction WTY since i am using Business object:BUS2222. You may need to modify the Business object if you ahve the one, otherwise you can just put it into SAP DIR.
