Dreamweaver centering/spry ie mac

I can't seem to find a way to center the vertical positioning
in a browser. Is this possible?
I can't seem to figure out why I can't get spry horizontal
menu bar to work for IE in the mac.
Can I preload pages because I have used tables to build this
site (not frames like I did in GoLIve) and I'd like the
presentation to be more fluid?
Please help.

Not easily, without using either frames or tables.

  • Centering spry widgets

    Does anyone know where there is a good tutorial for centering
    spry menu bars? Can this be done by changing rules in the spry menu
    .css file, or do I have to add code in code view? thanks!

    Spry widgets are nothing more than DHTML (JavaScript). They
    work the same as
    any other DHTML. If you like the way they work in your target
    browsers and
    the ease of which they are able to be made and modified
    inside Dreamweaver,
    then, by all means, use them. There is, however, nothing
    really unique about
    them beyond that they are simply new Javascript behaviors
    included with
    Dreamweaver CS3. I believe they will work well in most modern
    browsers, but
    to so well in some older browsers such as IE5.

  • In Dreamweaver CS5 - Spry elements visable in LiveView Only

    Web page: www.muohio.edu/youth
    In Dreamweaver the Spry Tabbed Panels and Collapsible panels work fine as published, and in LiveView. However in Design View the tabbed panels only show the top content, the styling is not applied.  The collapsible panels are functional, but the styling is not applied.
    Hope someone has an idea of what needs to be changed in the code, it is very difficult to update the page as it is.

    Yes, on some complicated pages, DW can have a hard time rendering the Design View.
    What you can do (that is the solution I use) is:
    for the styling, create you rules in Design view, and edit them in Live view. You sometimes have to refresh the view to have the changes apply, but it is still a time-saver.
    for the content, just switch to Code View and copy the content that needs updating. Open another HTML page, select all, and paste over your copied content. DW renders HTML bits pretty well even if there is no <html>, <body>, etc, tags. Then edit in Design View, switch back to Code View, copy all, and paste over your old content in the original document.
    Hopes this helps.

  • [CS5] Dreamweaver Crashes Unexpectedly under Mac OS/X

    Using CS5 under Snow Leopard.
    After using it a while, particularly if I go to another application and click back on it in the dock, Dreamweaver crashes but immediately restarts. Even though I have it set to remember the last files I was working on, it seems to forget.
    Sometimes if I click outside the application the same thing happens.
    I can rarely go for more than an hour without the application crashing. It's annoying.
    Any solution?

    Bob,
    Could you please post a link to the related forum? I searched every where bout I could not find one.
    I'm having this exact same issue (dreamweaver sudently crash on mac) and I use SFTP. I saw this issue is a very common one and It's a major security risk.
    Has Adobe done anything to fix this?

  • Every Time I Use Command-F to "Find" On Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Mac OS X It Crashes

    I never had a problem until about a week ago but now every single time I try to use Command-F to "Find" on Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Mac OS X the program crashes.
    I've also gone up to Edit -> Find And Replace to try to do it manually and it crashes too. So basically I can't search and it's making it very difficult to edit a big CSS file that I'm using on a website.
    I've already submitted like ten crash reports and can't find any info on Google. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Update:
    I cleared my Application Support Folder, Preferences, and I held the Shift key on startup. It cleared the glitch and I seem to be back in business.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 Spry Menu problem;

    Hi, I'm doing a web-site project for my Web Design class, and I ran into a problem. In Dreamweaver my spry menu only shows one part of the menu, but when I go to preview it, its perfectly normal. When I turned it into my teacher he sees the spry menu just like the one in Pic 2. I can't really upload it to a public domain/website because I can't at school. The way we see websites is by transfering folders into the teachers folders and click the index.html. Is there any way to fix this?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 uninstall on MAC computer then install and activate on Windows PC

    Dear Sir or Madam,
    I have bought and installed Dreamweaver CS3 on my MAC computer since 2008.
    I am now using a Windows computer and I would like to:
    1) uninstall Dreamweaver CS3 from my old MAC computer
    2) install, then activate Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows computer
    Could you please help me how to go about that?
    Thank you for your help,
    Zied Smiri

    You can't. Serial numbers are platform specific and platform swaps are only available for the current version which is CS6. CS3 is also too old to qualify for an upgrade so your only options are to buy CS6 or subscribe to the Creative Cloud version of Dreamweaver.

  • Uninstalled Dreamweaver CC trial for Mac - How to Reinstall

    I uninstalled my Dreamweaver CC trial for Mac immediately after downloading the trial because I had problems opening the application. After reinstalling the trial of Dreamweaver, the application still will not open. Did my trial expire after I uninstalled Dreaweaver? Is there a way I can start up my trial of Dreamweaver again being that it is still within the trial period? Thank you for your help.

    From my experience I get a dialog box that requires me to install Java SE 6 Runtine, from Mac's Software Update (seperate from what Oracle provides on java.com). On recent OS X versions, Java SE 6 Runtime no longer comes OS X preinstalled.
    When you have Java 7 installed and launch Dreamweaver, you may not have a dialog box prompt you to install anything when launching Dreamweaver. However, Dreamweaver relies on an older version so we need to manually download and install it.
    You can download and install the required Java SE 6 Runtime for OS X from Apple's website.
    After you install it, give it another go (you may need to restart) and it should load up like the other CC Apps.
    If it still doesn't work, it's more than likely another issue.

  • Help with Dreamweaver CS5 spry menus. Menu is not dropping down in IE7.

    Hello.
    We recently upgraded from GoLive CS3 to Dreamweaver CS5. Wow! This has been a big change for us. We are having trouble with a website that we are building, specifically the Spry Menu drop downs not appearing correctly in IE7 and older. While the dropdown menu appears in other browsers, it is not dropping down at all in IE7 and earlier versions. After researching this topic on many websites, including this forum, we are still unable to resolve our particular issue. We have tried many of the suggestions that are common to our problem, but have not found a solution as yet. Could someone please check out this page for us, and possibly give us some advise. We are working on Mac OSX. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may offer.
    http://www.advertools.net/pgtdemo/index.html

    When I added the following to the document
    <style>
    #main_image {position:static;}
    </style>
    the menu items appeared albeit in the wrong position.
    The reason for the hidden menu items is because #main_image had a position of relative, effectively creating a flow of its own rather than following the natural flow of the document.
    Now for the postion of the submenu. If I add the following style rules to the document the submenu items are in the correct position
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li {text-align: left;}
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a {text-align: center;}
    In the first line I have reset the rule that you had changed to center align and in the second line (which is not in the original CSS) I have aligned the text in the anchor tag to align center.
    The reason is that IE<8 behaves differently to other browsers when it comes to list items causing the nested list items (submenu) to align themselves to the center of the text of the parent list item.
    I hope the above helps.

    The code is too long. Let's do it this way, did you change anything on the default css of the SPRY menu?
    just my thought, why don't you remove it from the table? That might be the cause. Try to think of an alternative way like using divs and css.

    I just finished setting up a vertical, 3-level spry menu in
    Dreamweaver CS3, and when I preview it in IE7, several pixels have
    been added in between the buttons, which spreads the menu out and
    looks terrible. The problem disappears after I clear the ActiveX
    warning, and it doesn't occur in FF. Could someone please tell me
    how to fix this??
