Dreamweaver crashes a startup

Dear people,
The strangest error occurs when I install my adobe package.
ALL the programs work fine, exept for Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver
starts up, but the last thing in the loading screen which I can see
is initiating files, and then it crashes (or stops loading
anyways).
Info:
- I tried multiple adobe versions (also one of my roommates),
but they all show the same result.
- Every other program works just fine
- I tried dumping all my website files in the trashcan
(Dreamweaver worked fine on my old computer, I'm now trying to
install it on my new laptop) to check if there was a corrupted file
in it. This did not change anything.
My OS is windows vista.
Does this sound familliar to any of you guys? Hope you can
help.

Yea, I got lazy and bought an "out-of-the-box" HP computer. I
spent at
least an hour deleting/disabling stuff that had nothing to do
with what
I need in a computer - before installing any of my software.
Turns out that may not have been the most efficient way to
obtain/set
up a new computer.

  • Dreamweaver Crashes on Startup

After many months of Dreamweaver CS4 on my Mac working fine, it suddenly started crashing on startup. Just before this problem started, I was working in a file based on a template. An error message came up, and unfortunately I didn't write down what it said. I do remember pieces of it. It was regarding a javascript error and had the following parts that I remember, onblur, description.htm, and line 69 (I think). Dreamweaver soon crashed, and now it just gets past the Welcome screen and crashes. I have searched the Dreamweaver forum, and based on suggestions have done the following:
    deleted the cache file
added more text to files that were 8kb
    deleted the configuration folder
renamed the file I was last working on before the crash
    deleted Dreamweaver CS4 Preferences file
    Disabled the Welcome screen
At one point in all this, I was getting a message when Dreamweaver was unable to read preview in browser preferences, and please remove all browsers form the list and add them again--but I am no longer getting that message.
After hours of trying to solve this I got so frustrated I even tried to call Adobe support, knowing that I would have to pay dearly for help. I was on hold for 45 minutes, and finally gave up.
I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me with this.

I dont have an answer to your problem, but I do know that the best way to get through to adobe is to NOT press the button for customer support, but to go to techincal support.  I had an issue, twice, if I recall correctly I was on hold for way too long, went back, pushed the TS button, live help (his name was Bob with a foreign accent...nuff said) and problem was solved in 10 minutes.

  • Dreamweaver crashing at startup

OK...out of the blue Dreamweaver stops loading. I see the
startup screen, begins to load the site cache and then disappears.
I've tried reinstalling, deleting the user config file...but
nothing seems to make it work. Very frustrating when you are on a
    deadline. HELP!

I can only point you to the Adobe tech notes -
    Troubleshooting Dreamweaver
    on Windows:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15481&sliceId=1
See if there's anything there that may help. If the site
    cache is trying to
load and then stops maybe it's a corrupted site definition.

  • Dreamweaver crashes on startup [was: Dreamweaver Problem]

    Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this situation:
I recently moved all my software to a different computer. The software is older Creative Suite (CS2) with Marcromedia Dreamweaver 8. All the software from CS2 works fine, however, every time I try to start Dreamweaver the program begins to start up and immediately shuts down.
There are no error messages when Dreamweaver shuts down, and there were no errors during instalation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Okay, I've followed the instruction in this thread, and I renamed Dreamweaver's configuration folder and then tried launching Dreamweaver.  It appears a new configuration folder was made, but the problem persists.  I've tried deleting the WinFileCache-*******.dat file, but it shows up in the configuration folder each time I try to re-launch the program.  When I launch the program, for just a moment things look normal, and then it crashes giving me an error code of 148:3.  Any ideas from here?

  • Dreamweaver crashes on startup - check the Common folder

    CS3 build3841 and OSX 10.5.8
I tried deleting Dreamweaver sitecache and configuration folder, but nothing worked.  I noticed a folder named "9" in the Common folder here:
    /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/9
I renamed it to "9 test", booted up dreamweaver and it worked.   I quit DW and  then restored the folder name back to "9".  Booted up dreamweaver again and it still works.
So you might want to rename or move whatever is in that "Common" folder and see if that helps.
    Hope that helps someone.

  • DW CS4 Crashes on startup

Custom machine / Windows XP pro / SP3 updated / Core2 Duo Quad 2.8 / 4 gigs ram / plenty of HDD space
Out of the clear blue sky, DW CS4 (build 4117) is crashing on program startup. I cleaned the registry and restarted the machine, which did nothing to solve the problem.  DW CS4 on this machine is part of the Design Premium Suite. Other programs are working fine.Any clues? I'm dead in the water.

There is an an item in the Dreamweaver FAQ entitled Dreamweaver crashes on startup.
In all probability, you have a corrupt file cache. Details on how to delete it are in that article. In some cases, you need to delete the personal configuration folder, but try the file cache first.

  • DW CS4 crashes at startup - initializing files

I have been using DW CS4 for a while now without any issues.
However, as of last night whenever I start DW CS4 DW goes through
the startup procedure and then stops as soon as the screen says
"Initializing files". At that point, windows Vista takes over with
the crash message and the program stops loading.
I have unistalled and reinstalled DW several times as well as
deleting the preferences (which I dislike since my DW is highly
    customized) No luck so far.
As a background, I should add that last week a client was
nice enough to help me buy the Adobe suite premium (the one with
almost all the goodies) at the partner price. So I installed it,
all of it minus Dreamweaver. DW worked fine with the suite for
    several days so I don;t think that's what's going on, but I feel I
    should disclose it.
My system is an Intel quad core with 8gb of Ram and Vista 64
    bit.
Dreamweaver CS3 thankfully still works fine so I will be able
to use that for work until I figure this out. I hope someone can
help me out because this is a real big problem for me. Thank
    you.

  • Boum! DW8 crashes on startup

Hello! Since yesterday, my dreamweaver crashes on startup but
my others Studio products still working!
I read that the configuration folder may be corrupted so I
    renamed it...
Dreamweaver creates a new one but still crashing!
What else can I try, please? By the way, I work with a xp
    pc...
    Thanks for your suggestions!

Could be. The 8K bug is a crash that happens when you have an
    external
stylesheet that is exactly 8K in size. Try adding an empty
    comment to the
stylesheet, and see if that helps.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crash on startup

I am using CS3 version 9 Build 3481 on a Mac running the
current OS. It was running fine until the university changed the
location of servers, where my site is. Dreamweaver now crashes on
startup. The 1st message displayed is "An FTP error occurred-
cannot make connection to host". I have to click OKAY, and then
another dialog box appears that says, "Failed to create empty
document". Again, I have to click OKAY and then Dreamweaver shuts
down. I tried deleting the Dreamweaver folder and reinstalling, but
    the same thing occurs.
    Any advice?

After the university changed the location of servers, did you
    update the FTP
    settings in your site definition?

  • Dreamweaver CC crashes on startup

I run Dreamweaver CC on a Win 8 64-bit PC. I loaded a saved sitemap (.ste) file. After this Dreamweaver crashes as soon as I try to open it. I see the splashscreen for quite some time and then it will go all black... maybe come back showing the splash screen and go black again. After this I just get the error that the application stopped responding and crashes.
I have followed every single forum on the clearing settings etc and it makes no difference whatsoever. Most of the other bugs allows the users to at least get into Dreamweaver... I can't even do that!!

Try removing/ deleting all 'Sites' or just that 1 troublesome site from your harddisk (where DW usually stores it) and try opening DW. Follow these instructions:
On Windows, the site definitions for Dreamweaver CS6 are stored in the Windows Registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Common\12.0\Sites.
In Mac OS X, they are at Macintosh HD:<username>:Library:Application Support:Adobe:Common:12.0:Sites:Site Prefs.
In recent versions of Mac OS X, the Library folder is hidden. In the Mac Finder, select Go > Go to Folder, type ~/Library in the search field, and click Go.
The version may be 12.0 or 13.0 depending on the version of DW you're using. 12.0 for CS6 and 13.0 for CC.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Crashes on Startup  [ OSX Snow Leopard]

I would greatly appreciate any feedback regarding the problem I am finding below.
For some strange reason all of a sudden Dreamweaver crashes everytime I open the application. I have recently upgraded to OSX Snow Leopard but have been using Dreamweaver without any problems since upgrading. I have tried uninstalling the full Adobe CS4 suite and have reinstalled from scratch but this hasn't made any difference. I have also removed the preference files, to no avail. I am not sure if this is a Apple problem or a Adobe application problem. All the other CS4 applications open without a problem.

  • DW CS6 Crash On Startup, MMDocumentTypes.XML problem

On Dreamweaver CS6 which I just installed today, I keep getting the following error on startup,
"No document types have been found in the Configuration/DocumentTypes/ folder. The MMDocumentTypes.xml may be missing or corrupted. The application will exit now.
I've tried the cache deletion method found in the FAQ thread for crashes on startup with no success as well as reinstalling Dreamweaver once. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I just revisiting my problem today by doing yet another uninstall then reinstall. I think the issue I had was in the configuration files (although I'm not sure why it happened) as the second time I uninstalled, I made sure to tell the uninstaller to delete User Preferences Data or something of that sort (it's the checkbox over on the right when you choose what to uninstall out of the suite. Try uninstalling with that checked and then reinstall againm, worked for me.

  • CS5 Fireworks crashes on startup (XP)

    Hi guys,
I've just installed CS5 web premium, put the serial in, installed all programs, no problems.
Tried running each program, whihc was going fine, until I got to Fireworks.  I get the splash screen for about a second, and then the program completely disappears.  Sometimes the process stays running using 100% CPU power, sometimes it just completely dies.  I've tried completely removing all adobe programs and re-installing, and I get the same issue.  Everything works fine except Fireworks.  I've searched online and on these forums for hours, some people have mentioned conflicting fonts, conflicting site IDs from Dreamweaver, and dodgy permissions, but nothing seems to be helping.
This was installed straight on a clean XP install, nothing but XP and Office were already on the PC.
I've done everything as local admin, so I'm sure it can't be a permissions issue.
    PC Specs:
    AMD Sempron 2.2 GHz processor
    1GB RAM
    150GB HDD
    Running XP SP3
Any ideas anyone?  This is driving me mad.

I'm having this same Audition crash on startup issue. For me it's Adobe Audition CC 6.0x732 on MacOS 10.8.4

  • DW6 Crashes on Startup

DW6 crashes on startup, giving the following error: "Failed to Parse Eve: /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS6/Configuration/Dialogs/Eve/SiteScanDialog.eve"
Tried replacing preferences and SIMBL and got the same error. Suggestions?
ETA: Just checked that location and there's no such folder in the Configuration folder. On OSX10.8. Huh?

Perhaps you should rename the entire configuration file and then restart
DW to see if it runs smoothly this time.  The configuration folder is
damaged beyond repair and the only way out is to recreate a new one.  By
renaming the old folder(s) you will get new fresh ones when you launch
DW again. Make sure DW is closed before you rename anything.
The folders in the old MACs were at this location:
    MAC: MacHD : Users :  : Configuration :
Substitute username with your correct username for the machine, xxxx
