Dreamweaver CS3 CPU usage

Hi all ...
I'm wondering how is it possible to Dreamweaver always take
over 50% of CPU, even if I;m not doing anything. I write just
XHTML, CSS ... not using connection to server or scripts. Is it
possible to somehow change the settings to make it 'lighter'.
I have: AMD Turion X2 2GHZ, Win XP, 2GB RAM

I'm on Vista, doing nothing with DW and my CPU usage is 7%.
So, DW doesn't
always do this (in fact it never has for me). I'd guess that
what you are
seeing is related to what else is happening on your PC.

  • DW CS3 CPU usage on a Powermac G5

Can someone tell me if it's normal for DW CS3 to be using a
lot of CPU cycles while it's in the background doing nothing? I
have a 1.8Ghz G5 and am running 10.4.9. Thanks in advance.

Yes it can make HD video, it just won't import AVCHD from a camera straight into iMovie.
An intel mac will convert AVCHD to AIC on import a PPC mac can't do this but there are 3rd party applications that will convert AVCHD to AIC, which iMovie can then import.

  • Dreamweaver CC high cpu usage

    hello there,
I am doing a webdesign study and i need dreamweaver.
Normaly i do al my homework at school so i dont have to do then at home.
So today i downloaded dreamweaver cc and updated to the last version (13.2 build 6471).
When ever i open dreamweaver im getting 31% on cpu. In other posts i read when disable the Related File option it would fix.
And it still wont fix the issue.
I did a scan on my laptop for viruses and didnt had one. Disable av, sandbox and fw (Comodo internet security) to see if that is the problem and still have the same problem.
One thing i did see is if i go to help and about dreamweaver. Then my cpu usage goes down to 1-5 max cpu. And when click away it goes again to 31%.
    Laptop specs
    Asus k53sv
Nvidia GT 540m 2gb (optimus technology)
    Intel graphics hd 3000
    Intel i5 2430m 2.4ghz (boost 2.9ghz)
    8gb ram
Do you guys have any fix?
If any more info need tell me.
    Thanks for your effort.

Have you installed a non-english version of DW CC?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 (9) maxed CPU slow performance and FTP issues.

Dreamweaver CS3 (9) maxed CPU slow performance and FTP
    issues.
    Never mind...I found it.
Of course I have all the firewall, worm, scanning, phishing
filtering, full time protect, and everything else turned off when I
am working on a remote/testing site however I found the Symantec
antivirus email scan being enabled (doesn't it just interact with
my email program?) was getting in the way of DW9 ftp operations,
causing some lagging that was putting DW9 into an unstable mode
during and immediately after (10 seconds) ftp operations.
The CPU still spikes to 99% during ftp functions but DW9
works even though it's likely taxed to the max but when I turn off
email scan DW9 returned to a functioning state during ftp and
remote file view. Whatever it takes huh?
PS: email scanning only never effected DW8.02
My System Info: properly configured (as in: everything works
    or I fix it) Toshiba - XP pro SP2 – Pentium 4 - 2.3GHz
    – 1.5 GB ram – Intel extreme graphics card 64 MB ram
    – Apache 2.2 server – PHP 5 – MySQL 5 -
    phpMyAdmin – Dreamweaver 8.02 – Interakt Kollection
    3.7.1 – Dreamwweaver 9 - DeVtoolbox – Flash –
    GoLive - Photoshop - ImageReady – Illustrator – Acrobat
    – CuteFTP – Putty SSH - blabla...)

Thanks for the response. I managed to Google the 'nobody' account and found the explanation.
As you say, I assumed the 'syslogd' process had to do with system logs. I did check the console and couldn't find anything of particular interest in the logs.
I'll continue to monitor but if anyone has any further suggestions please post.
One thing that might also have an impact... my available drive space is now down to less than 5gb (runs anywhere between 1gb and 5gb free depending on what I'm running). I know this causes problems for Parallels as it keeps moaning at me, but would it cause any problems with OSX?
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • Dreamweaver CS3 hogging CPU - any fix?

I finally upgraded from GoLive CS2 to Dreamweaver CS3. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it!)
Dreamweaver at idle is using over a quarter of my CPU! (Mac Mini 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM) No well-written program does this so I figure there must be something that I can turn off that was defaulted to "on" so I can speed up my computer.
It's so bizarre that it demands almost half a GHz—460,000,000 cycles per second, folks—just sitting there!
    Thanks!
    Andrew

Thanks for the suggestion, but no. Activity Monitor is showing it's distinctly the Dreamweaver CPU process, plus I updated the software just a few days before.
I've seen other discussions online posted in the past couple of years about the same CPU-hogging problem on Mac and Windows boxes. There was some Windows patch (I believe it was from an unauthorized 3rd party) that purportedly fixed the problem, but I didn't see anything for Macs and I wasn't sure if there was any official solution (even if it involves upgrading to CS4) . . . other than live with a program that's making your system slow down for no good reason.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Athlon 64

I just installed Creative Suite 3 Web Premium on my computer.
When I run Dreamweaver CS3, PerfMon shows the processor spiking to
between 80-100% every few seconds. Avg. pages/sec and disk queue
length don't seem to be affected. This happen when I'm actively
working on page(s). If Dreamweaver is idle, the processor does not
    spike.
    My computer is running:
Windows XP Pro - 32 bit
    AMD Athlon 64 3400+
    2 GB of RAM
55 GB hard drive, 20 GB free
Dreamweaver is using around 76 MB of ram, and this remains
    constant as the CPU spikes.
Are there any known issues with running Dreamweaver CS3 on
Athlon 64, or has anyone else experienced this problem?

Spikes in cpu usage by itself is not a problem. DW does some
    processing
(such as updating remote file lock status) during "idle" time
    to give
user more cpu to complete tasks.
Are you seeing lags trying to complete a task? That would be
    a problem.
If so, please provide more details.
    Thanks,
    Randy

  • Dreamweaver cs3 FTP Fault - Not connecting anymore

    Hi,
I hope someone may know the cause of this wierd problem
My dreamweaver cs3 has just stopped connecting to server for
    any of my sites
(i got over 100 sites and tried quite a few).
My other ftp program external to cwcs3 is fine and continues
    to work. This
using the same connection settings as dwcs3 site profiles.
    Nothing has
changed on my dwcs3 profiles but yestarday I had the daylight
    saving problem
(and last year) where i had to delete the cache file as per
    adobe tech doc.
DW no longer crashing but i think this ftp not connecting is
    only since
    yesterday.
I have also installed the various windows updates that came
    out recently.
The other machines in the office continue to work fine. All
    machines import
the same saved profiles, but if i remove the site profile and
    reimport it
still dosent connect, but repeating this on another machine
    works without a
    problem.
All machines in this floor have Vista Business/ CS3 web suite
    connecting to
a windows 2003 standard ed server running iis and
    iis/microsoft ftp server.
Same result with windows firewall disabled. Only other
    security app is NOD
anti-virus, again all machines are the same.
All i get is an error telling me to try passive etc, but i
    know this isnt
the fault as the other machines with the same settings are
    fine..
here is a copy of the ftp log after trying to connect,

If i was that anal about cpu overhead, would i be using
    dreamweavers built
in ftp with its feature 100%cpu usage. Even on my core 2
    extreme 9000 cpu!!
Thanks for the links, but everything in them has been ruled
    out. The issue
is clearly not a setting within dw. Its some sort of windows
    firewall
    corruption
Even running wf.msc (advanced win firewall config) provides
    no clues

  • Dreamweaver High CPU

    Hey,
I've been running Dreamweaver CS3, and have been noticing
extremely high CPU usage, which makes working on a laptop a real
pain, as it gets very hot, and the fans are on full and constantly.
I get this CPU activity even when Dreamweaver is supposedly
idle, meaning I've open the application and done nothing more. The
machine isn't running noticeably slower, therefore it must just be
picking up the idle CPU threads.Closing the application immediately
    fixes the problem.
The last activity for the offending process in the call stack
    is this...
    ntoskrnl.exe!KiDispatchInterrupt+0x7f
Dont know if that has anything to do with it.
Any ideas I've always liked Dreamweaver but this new version
is making me want to upgrade to notepad.
    - FYI I'm running XP Pro SP3 RC1, but I have colleagues using
Vista and experiencing the same problem.

This is one of the most common problems with DW CS3 (see). One clue to what it might be is that DW seems to run a thread at lowest priority, using only idle cpu-time (as noted by Steven_1_1_). Whenever you open a menu (File, Edit, ...) the process stops. Close the menu and it starts again. This is something Adobe should take seriously and either explain what the program does (i.e. factorizing large numbers(?)) or how to fix the bug.

  • MacBook Air 11" Mid 2011 (Fan & CPU Usage & Kernel_task)

    Hello everyone.
I have a small problem with my Mac which is about its fan noise and CPU usage.
It was running FLAWLESSLY until like last couple of days after OS update where I started to notice really high CPU and Fan usage.
    But first, system specification:
1.6 Ghz Intel Core i5 Processor
    4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB Graphics Card
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    128GB SSD Storage
For some reason my MacBook Air started to have these "high intensity work" moments when a process called "Kernel_task" started to eat up to 600% of the CPU !
Now I can imagine it's just a software issue since it started to occur after I updated my OS via Software Application and my Flash Player and the rest of my software is up-to-date too but has any of you had this problem before ?
I do not play on my MacBook Air, there are only two things I do - I use Safari and some Adobe software (Photoshop/Flash/Dreamweaver/Illustrator/InDesign/Fireworks) and that's all.

The kernel is using excessive processor cycles. Below is a partial list of causes for this condition.
    Throttling
When it gets high temperature readings from the hardware, the kernel may try to compensate by interrupting the processor(s) to slow them down and reduce heat dissipation. This condition can be due to an accumulation of dust, to high ambient temperature, or to the malfunction of a cooling fan or temperature sensor. Note that if the problem is caused by a faulty sensor that reads too high, there may be no actual overheating.
The Apple Hardware Test, though not very reliable, is sometimes able to detect a bad fan or temperature sensor.
    Using Apple Hardware Test
    Encryption
Transferring large amounts of data to or from an encrypted disk image or FileVault volume may put an extra load on the kernel. If both the source and the destination are encrypted, the load may be doubled. If you transfer data from an encrypted disk image on an encrypted partition to another such image on another encrypted partition, the load may be quadrupled.
This issue probably doesn't affect late-model Macs with an Intel i-series, recent Xeon, or later processor. Those processors support hardware-accelerated encryption. You can determine what kind of processor you have by selecting About This Mac from the Apple menu in the menu bar.
    Installed software
User-installed software that includes a device driver or other kernel code may thrash the kernel. Some system-monitoring applications, such as "iStat," can also contribute to the problem. You can test for this possibility by completely disabling or removing the software according to the developer's instructions, or booting in safe mode (with the shift key held down at the startup chime.) Note, however, that disabling a system modification without removing it or booting in safe mode may not be as easy as you think it is.
    Corrupt NVRAM or SMC data
In some cases the condition has reportedly been cleared up by resetting the NVRAM or the SMC. I can't confirm.

  • PS CS3 CPU hungry

I am using Photoshop CS3 under Snow Leopard 10.6.4. PS is fully updated. For the first time PS is causing the fan on my MacBook Pro 4GB RAM to really speed up - and that's just because I'm working with an 8 MB PSD document. As soon as I stop using any of the tools from the palette the fan slows down.
Checking the activity monitor when the fan hits in it reads PS between 45-70 percent on CPU-usage. It has got to be something fundamentally wrong with PS CS3 here. If my memory serves me right I recall someone from the PS-crew saying that CS3 will run without problems under Snow Leopard, with no known issues. Well, this is an issue I believe.
Anybody else experiencing this type of problem? Feedback on this would be appreciated. Thanks!
PS! I am not going to upgrade to CS5 Design Premium as I believe Adobe releases major expensive upgrades way to fast. So don't bother mentioning that.

    Hi, Cris!
What changed on your system (outside of Photoshop) around that time?  Updates?  New software?  Changed settings?
Only regular stuff: most of them only updates for browsers, antivirus, firewall etc ... nothing related to photoshop
Did you change anything inside Photoshop (showing different palettes, change in prefs)?  Especially check Photoshop's prefs for how much memory you allocated to it.
I kept my performance prefs exactly like 2-3 days ago when photoshop worked good and smooth.
What you're describing could be a video driver problem, or just VM thrashing (by the OS or Photoshop's scratch disk).  But it's also possible it's due to some other factor inside Photoshop that didn't get included in your description.
I have the last version of nVidia driver (installed 2 months ago) for video card.

  • 100% CPU usage in DW CS5 when opening page...

    Hi there, I'm new here!
I'm working on my site in DW and have already completed another site without having this problem. I open a *paticular* file, and my CPU usage goes to 100% when I use the split view. In code, DW runs fine, but as soon as it tries to render a preview (not in live mode) in the second pane, it starts going quickly between (notresponding) and very slow response. So it's slow or nothing!
This page is using some z-index in the CSS and flash, so I don't know if maybe it's just my processor speed isn't up to it?
I have tried it on my downstairs desktop (quad core, can't remember exact specs but could look it up, but it's faster than my ltop, obviously..), and it works slightly better. Does DW use scratch disks? Is there a way to turn off some CSS properties in the display to improve performance? I can work just in code for a lot of my work, but for placement it is much more intuitive to use a split view for me. HELP! (Please and thank you!)

I am having a similar problem with some files when working in split view.  I have been experiencing slow performance and Dreamweaver goes into "Not Responding" state for 30-60 sec when I click somewhere (doesn't matter if I click in design or code portion) and also when I go to Undo something.  This has happened in other files, too.  Eventually it starts responding again but it is moving slowly. My task manager shows CPU and memory usage spiking up and down as well (specifically memory of Dreamweaver process).
Sometimes it does it when Dreamweaver is open and I am doing something in another smaller window in front of it too (such as writing an email)…
I had the task manager open and Dreamweaver (and nothing else) the other day, and Dreamweaver kept flashing back and forth to "Not Responding"… so I closed it and it made task manager freeze up so that it wouldn’t close and the task manager memory and CPU usage were spiking.
    Specs on my machine:
    HP xw6600 workstation
    Windows Vista SP2 (32-bit)
Intel Xeon Processor (Quad-core, 2.33 GHz)
    4 gigs of RAM
I am Running Dreamweaver CS5 with all updates installed
I have already tried the following:
    Re-creating preferences file
    Re-creating registry files
    Re-creating personal config files
    Uninstalling and Re-installing Dreamweaver
Running a Windows Live Care scan on my computer to check for viruses, registry file errors, etc.
The only thought I have is that I when I installed CS5, i didnt uninstall CS4 first, thinking that I could just upgrade...
When I went into add/remove programs Creative Suite CS4 still showed up in there, but the programs were not on my computer anymore.  I removed it anyway, but there were still some random folders left on my computer from it that I found when trying to solve this issue, such as preferences files from CS4 and personal config folders for Dreamweaver CS4, Photoshop CS4, Fireworks CS4 and Contribute CS4, which I deleted, but it has not solved the problem.
I can't think of anything else to try short of wiping my hard drive and doing a clean install of OS and Creative Suite, which I really dont want to go through.
    Please help!

  • Only max 30% cpu usage when rendering

I making an animation that I have done in 3dsMax and save it as a .png sequence. Have done the editing in Premiere cs3, but when I export it with Adobe media encoder as .wmv, it only uses max 30% of the CPU, I have a quadcore 9550, and Vista buisniess64 with 8GB ram.
I have tried to de-select de-interlace option in the output tab as suggested from other forums.
But the strange is when I export from the same timeline and have a clip from the HDV camera the CPU goes up to 100%. Why does not premiere uses 100% the whole time?

Maybe the extra CPU usage is related to the HDV decoding process, which is probably more intensive than PNG decoding... Or, the PNG reader is not multi-threaded at all and this "bottleneck" is slowing down the entire process. ???
Also: Do not check the "deinterlace" box unless you want to deinterlace and even then you should perhaps look for other options. Premiere's deinterlacer is utter garbage.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 slow performance issue confusions & work arounds

    What does doesn't work mean?
Once the user has logged in, can you output the MM_Username
session variable to the page (in particular the page that the log
in user behavior has set for a successful log in)? You can do that
by simply selecting it in the Bindings panel and dragging into the
design view then previewing the page (after you've logged in of
    course).
Also to get better responses (and more folks looking at it),
you should probably post this in the Dreamweaver Application dev
    group:

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crashes in XP

Dreamweaver CS3 loads, then crashes after about 5 seconds.
I've tried uninstalling the program and all other versions of
Dreamweaver, deleting all my site definitions, all registry
information, and even disconnecting the drive that all my local
sites were stored on. After reinstalling the problem still
persists. I tried disabling the welcome screen and destroying any
and all site definitions and configuration files before each
    re-install. Nothing has worked.
Any information you guys could give me would be really
appreciated, considering I literally use this program for just
    about everything I do.
    Information from XP's event viewer:
    Faulting application dreamweaver.exe, version 9.0.0.3481,
faulting module adobelm_libfnp.dll, version 11.3.5.1, fault address
    0x000eeb6d.
    My system:
    Windows XP SP 2
    Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
    .99GB of RAM

I recommend you contact Adobe directly and use one of your
    one-on-one
    support incidents.

  • Low cpu usage when exporting

Is it normal to have only 4-12% of cpu usage when exporting video out of ae? I´m exporting it from render queue.
My computer is 2x dual 3,0 ghz prosessor, 8 gb ram, nvidia 8600 gt in xp professional x64
    thanks

As Jonas suggested, CPU utilization may be somewhat low because the bottleneck isn't the processing of the data but moving (reading and writing) it.
I'm not saying that this is necessarily what's going on for you, but it's worth pointing out that the CPU is often not the bottleneck.
If disk I/O is what's slowing you down, one way that you can speed things up is to use three disks for your work: one to run the program from, one to store input assets, and one to write output files to.
There are a lot of tips for improving performance in the
"Improve performance" section of After Effects CS3 Help on the Web.
