Dreamweaver CS3 crashes in XP
Dreamweaver CS3 loads, then crashes after about 5 seconds.
I've tried uninstalling the program and all other versions of
Dreamweaver, deleting all my site definitions, all registry
information, and even disconnecting the drive that all my local
sites were stored on. After reinstalling the problem still
persists. I tried disabling the welcome screen and destroying any
and all site definitions and configuration files before each
re-install. Nothing has worked.
Any information you guys could give me would be really
appreciated, considering I literally use this program for just
about everything I do.
Information from XP's event viewer:
Faulting application dreamweaver.exe, version 9.0.0.3481,
faulting module adobelm_libfnp.dll, version 11.3.5.1, fault address
0x000eeb6d.
My system:
Windows XP SP 2
Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
.99GB of RAM
I recommend you contact Adobe directly and use one of your
one-on-one
support incidents.

URGENT: Dreamweaver CS3 crashes while uploading any PHP File
Hello,
My Dreamweaver CS3 crashes everytime I try to upload any PHP
file to the Web Server. It does upload the file but crashes and you
received a "Not Responding" error in the Windows title bar. I did
search alot on this issue until I found the ".
Dreamweaver
CS3 crashes after DST ends" problem. I deleted the cache file
as required but of NO HELP.
. It is very annoying to restart Dreamweaver
everytime you want to upload any PHP file to the Web Server after
editing it. It doesn't happen with any other types of files. Please
help me guys here or I will lose my mind.Bad news for you too.
First, you are not addressing Adobe here in the user forums.
Secondly, Adobe does not support CS3 any longer because it hasn't been sold for years.
Therefore, you're left to the good will of fellow users who volunteer their time here free of charge, if one of them has a solution to your issue. No one is under any obligation to reply, so ask nicely.
One thing I can tell you is that you have not applied any of the versions available for Photoshop. Unfortunately, the Adobe auto updater was an unmitigated piece of cr@p in any version prior to CS6. Do not rely on it to assume you are up to date just because it doesn't show any updates available to you under Help > Updates.
You need to look for the downloads and apply them manually yourself.
I can't offer any more assistance because I don't do Windows. Sorry. -
Dreamweaver CS3 crashes HELP!
I'm working on a project in DreamweaverCS3 using Coldfusion
7.0.2.
I have a page that has some drop down menus that are
populated via a coldfusion query. When I click on the
<cfselect> statement line (I need to edit this one value to
fix the page), Dreamweaver CS3 crashes.
I have never seen this before ever. Has anyone else seen this
type of thing with there CS3?
The other thing I completely hate about Dreamweaver is when i
preview an HTML page in a browser window and sometimes when I go
back and forth between the browser and Dreamweaver, I won't be able
to save the file because I get a sharing violation error. So i have
to either wait a few minutes before i can save for some reason or I
have to shut down the browser.
I used to use Homesite and i always, always could preview in
a new browser window, make edits, and refresh the page. Life was
good. This disrupts my workflow and i think Adobe should consider
changing how Dreamweaver handles files in CS4 and hopefully do away
with this bug. Its extremely annoying and slows me down.
What sucks is i spend all of this money on CS3 Web Premium
and now i have to use wordpad to edit this file so i can move
on!I like to use server-side includes for site wide menus, headers and footers.
http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/server_side_includes.asp
Some people like to use DW Templates to create their site pages. If you use a Template.dwt, you can put your site wide menu and other common page elements into it and they will appear on all child pages created from that Template file.
http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/dreamweaver_template.asp#1
DIFFERENCES:
SSI works on the server. Edit one file, upload and you're done. Your hosting provider needs to support the use of includes in either .shtml, .asp or .php pages.
DW Templates only work in Dreamweaver sites. And you must re-publish all child pages after editing your Template.dwt file.

For now reason at all, my Dreamweaver CS3 crashes, when I
load the application up.
Its the same error message but repeated for three different
locations:
Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard, Adobe Dreamweaver CS3,
Share components.
The error message:
Component install failed. The original installation media has
been moved or deleted.
Replace the media at it original location: C:\Documents and
Settings\...\Local Settings\Application
Data\Installer2244\payloadsAdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0All\AdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0.2Al l.msi
Is this the reason why my application fails. If so where do I
get this file? Can I just create the folder structure manually?
I don't understand why it CS3 crashes, I was using it fine,
playing around with spry, then I loaded up Fireworks, then
Dreamweaver crashedAre you trying to re-install the application? This is what
appears is happening from the error messages.
If you aren't doing that then something was corrupted and you
may need to reinstall by first de-activating the software package
via another CS3 application under the Help menu. And then you would
need to run the CS3 clean tool to uninstall and then you would need
to load the media from CS3 to re-install.

Dreamweaver CS3 crashes after Daylight Savings Time ends
In Windows XP x64, Dreamweaver CS3 crashes after
Daylight Savings Time ends. There is a technote that seems to
describe the situation exactly.
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402776&sliceId=1
However...
1) The technote says this happens only with ASP and PHP code.
I'm using ColdFusion. (That's a minor point.)
2) The technote says...
Delete the WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat file from the
Dreamweaver user configuration folder. Note that on Windows, the
Application Data and AppData folders are hidden by default, so
verify that your Windows Explorer folder options are set to View
Hidden Folders. The location of this file is as follows:
Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows Vista:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
9\Configuration
Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application
Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration
However, I coudn't find WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat in
Documents and Settings or in Program Files (86)\Adobe. (The 86 is
because this is a 32-bit program on a 64-bit machine, but all the
rest is the same.) I then searched both directories for *.dat and
there was no file that looked anything like
WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat.
.Can anybody help me?
Thanks!Alan, thanks for the suggestion.
I did the search found the file, deleted it, opened
Dreamweaver CS3, selected the same text -- and it crashed as
before.
THEN I REBOOTED and tried again - NO CRASH. So it seems that
a reboot is an essential part of the fix.
BTW: My situation fit the Technote description exactly. (1)
The crash happened when selecting -- in design or code view --
certain text in a context of HTML intermingled with ColdFusion
code; (2) I had no problem with these files before Daylight Savings
ended; (3) even after that I had no problem with them in Macromedia
Dreamweaver 8 on another machine -- the problem was only on CS3.
So the Technote is correct as far as it goes, but should be
amended as follows:
1) ColdFusion should be included in the types of code that
can be associated with the problem.
2) Instead of deleting WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat, one should
delete WinFileCache-[whatever].dat.
3) A reboot after the deletion may be required.
Anyway, problem solved.
Thank you! -

Dreamweaver CS3 Crashes At Startup
I installed the CS3 web premium suite and all the programs
worked great, including Dreamweaver. After rebooting the PC the
next morning, Dreamweaver CS3 would not launch anymore. I
reinstalled DW but still the same problem. Startup gets as far as
reading the site cache and then totally disappears. I've tried
renaming/deleting the Configuration and the registry key
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9), and the DW8 site
caches. The other CS3 programs work fine.
What now?I can open Dreamweaver now but I don't think the problem is
solved. Here's what happened:
I took the steps in the article you referenced and some
others, re-started the pc repeatedly with all start-up programs
disabled, and waited in vain for the promised return phone call
from a seemingly diligent guy in Tech Support. When I called Tech
Support the next day, they said that the case number and customer
ID had no reference to this problem so someone would call back. OK,
fine. I'll wait.
I did a "clean update" of ZoneAlarm, remembering that this
had solved some other problems in the past. Later yesterday, I was
cleaning up some experimental website file directories and renamed
a few of them to make more sense of what they were.
When I tried to re-open Dreamweaver later, it paused to tell
me that it could not find the directory for the site referenced in
the site definition and I should go to Manage Sites to fix it.
Since Dreamweaver had crashed repeatedly before reaching this
stage, this was a major victory. The site it was trying to open was
one that I had set up to experiment with some of the new features
in DW CS3 after the initial installation. Fortunately, it was one
that I had renamed earlier yesterday.
The offending directory contained a page with some of the new
Spry widgets (Tabbed Panel and Accordian) and a short slideshow
that I think I made using Bridge.
So, I was able to open the Manage Sites panel and point
Dreamweaver to another site definition. It opened fine and everyone
lived happily ever after.
Unfortunately, the problem is not solved -- just worked
around by coincidence.
Here is some info from the Windows Control Panel's Event
Viewer about the last time that DW crashed: Faulting application
dreamweaver.exe, version 9.0.0.3481, faulting module msvcr80.dll,
version 8.0.50727.163, fault address 0x000142f1.
Hope ths helps Adobe figure out what is causing this crash.
Now that I can open Dreamweaver CS3 and use it, I'm really
impressed with the upgrade.

Dreamweaver CS3 crash on startup
I am using CS3 version 9 Build 3481 on a Mac running the
current OS. It was running fine until the university changed the
location of servers, where my site is. Dreamweaver now crashes on
startup. The 1st message displayed is "An FTP error occurred-
cannot make connection to host". I have to click OKAY, and then
another dialog box appears that says, "Failed to create empty
document". Again, I have to click OKAY and then Dreamweaver shuts
down. I tried deleting the Dreamweaver folder and reinstalling, but
the same thing occurs.
Any advice? After the university changed the location of servers, did you
update the FTP
settings in your site definition?

DreamWeaver CS3 Crashing in Design View
Hi, Dreamweaver CS3 is crashing when try to view a page in
design view. It happens when I have links to images that are stored
on a web server that is currently unavailable. As soon as the web
server is running again there are no problems. If open the page in
code view, it works fine but as soon as I click on design view it
hangs. Has anyone else come across this problem? Thanks for your
help.Ah, I see now.
Are you using the Live Data view or is that turned off?
Well, after searching these forums, I have found this KB
article:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401608&sliceId=2
It is a known issue when using remote files. If you can maybe
the answer right now would be to develop the page with local file
paths and do a search and replace to add in the remote path before
you save the final version. Wish there was a solution, hopefully a
patch will be released soon because the thread I found was back
from April of this year and it only affects Intel Macs. -
Dreamweaver CS3 Crashing Instantly
MAC OSX 10.5 Leopard
I am experiencing an incorrect behavior of Dreamweaver CS3
instantly crashing. Here's when it happens.
In Design View... no problems.
In Code View... instant crash of DW CS3 when I attempt to
click on any line that has either meta tags or recordset scripting.
(if I click around parts of the body in code view, no crash).
Since it's so specific as to what I do when it crashes, what
do you think is wrong?*.ste is the extension that DW uses. BUT - if you have never
EXPORTed the
site defintions from within DW, you will not find any of
these.
Here is a post from Sonjay, which I found by searching this
forum for "Mac
site definition" -
On the backup of the old drive, look in this directory:
/Users/you/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/9/Sites
And find the file named "Site Prefs"
Copy that file into the same location on your new drive.
The site definitions are defined in this file using from the
name of your
hard drive, e.g.,
"MyHardDrive:Users:Myusername:SiteDirectoryName"
If the name of your hard drive is different from the old one,
you'll need to
open that file in a text editor (NOT Dreamweaver -- something
like TextMate
or BBEdit) and do a global find-and-replace to replace the
name of your old
hard drive with the name of your new one in all the site
definitions. Save
and close.
Relaunch Dreamweaver.
You're done.

Is anybody else getting problems where Dreamweaver CS3 keeps

particularly when trying to transfer files from/to a web

I'm running it on Vista Ultimate using WebDAV as the transfer

that makes any difference.

Dreamweaver cs3 crashed after cute ftp installation
Hi Guys!
After i've installed the cute ftp program an error has occured - "Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Deleting the WinFileCache-.... didn't worked.
What should i do?
Thanks in advance for anyone.Does CuteFTP work on it's own when DW is closed?
I too, use CuteFTP in conjunction with DW and have for many years and have never had such a problem.
Are you doing anything specific in Cute FTP when DW crashes? -
Dreamweaver CS3 Crashing on XML files
I've been having this problem for quite a while now...
Basically whenever I try to open any XML files on our
webserver, there is a very good chance DW will crash. These files
are our framework's configuration files, so they need to be opened
and edited quite often, so this crashing problem is very annoying.
I haven't done enough testing to know for sure if the problem
is specific to only certain files (there are about 20 of them), but
I know for sure that I have only see the issue when opening one of
the XML files. They are all stored in the same directory.
I have already tried deleting the sitecache folder. I opened
DW, it rebuilt the cache, and then crashed again when I tried to
open the file.
I have also completely reinstalled Dreamweaver, and even the
operating system. BTW this is a faily new iMac with OSX on
it.You are fast!
