Dreamweaver CS3 crashing when importing site settings

Hi,
I've installed a copy of Dreamweaver CS3 on a new Vista 64-bit machine.  I've tried to import .ste files pertaining to some sites which I copied over from my old computer (where things were slow but working).  When I import the .ste files, it brings in the settings, but as soon as I click on "done", Dreamweaver crashes.  I've tried this on a couple of sites now, and still the same crash at the same point.
How do I get this working?
Thanks,
Derek

  • Dreamweaver CS 5.5 crashes when saving Site settings.

    Hey,
I'm working on a PHP website. I had it set up to test on a server. When I went to change the Site settings (I wanted to make a new version), Dreamweaver crashed when I saved the new settings. After that, Dreamweaver does not open unless I delete the Configuration file (a solution I found online). Also, any time I restart my computer Dreamweaver does the same thing – crashes on opening. The only thing that was saved that first time it seems is that Dreamweaver removed my server username and password, so I can no longer test the site that was working. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks,

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crashes on new site

My Dreamweaver CS3, working under Vista, normally works fine
and I have successfully created new sites. Today, however, it
continued to crash when I tried to establish a new site based on
existing files a folder. Only after removing a large portion of the
files was it successful. Once created, once I moved the files back,
all worked well. Something is happening to the 'site scan'. I
suspect it is a file it does not like, but I would rather not have
to test them one by one. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • InDesign CS3 crashes when importing multiple files.

I've got a new box that's been running pretty solid for several weeks now. It's Win 7 with 8 gigs. Just last night it starts crashing when I'm importing multiple files. Doesn't matter if it's JPGs, TIFFs, or PDFs.
I can import all the same files one by one using the place command.
Importing multiples using the place command or dragging & dropping crashes.
It's not a case of placing a PDF using the bleed box and no bleed box is set. And that usually doesn't crash InDesign, just fails to import.
I deleted the preferences file to no avail.
CS 5.5 has no problems. No, I can't just use 5.5. I'm the only person with it and really only use it for converting files for customers that don't have the common sense to send a PDF. Other people in the shop have to be able to open these same files.
Any ideas? This is already a pain since one of my main jobs is ganging business cards 72 up on a sheet.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crash when intializing

    Hi,
I am using adobe cs3 suite, my dw is not working properly it crash when initializing the initializing screen appears for a movement and then disappear. I tried different tips like remove the rename the dw configuration file as well as remove the dreamweaver 9 folder from the windows registry but didnt work. I am using windows Vista. Please help.
    Thanks,
    AlviPixels.com

Not sure if you are having the same problem in Vista as I have but to my horror I found out that CS3 is not compatible with Windows 7.  Seems to me that Adobe could have made sure that our $2,000.00 programs continued to work.  Yes they are in the money making business but I never though they were in the rip off business.  Good news though - for only $800.00 you can buy an upgrade.  I have the trial version of Dreamweaver and really don't like it.  Two options, have two computers - one outdated rickety old XP with CS3 on it and one wonderful Windows 7 that doesn't.  That's progress?

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes when importing video frames to layers.

This is perhaps not the correct place to post this, but I am new to the forums, as you can see.
I saw that there was a post about this sometime last year, and I tried all the methods offered to fix the problem, but none helped.
Each time I make an attempt to import video frames to layers, I get as far as the "select range to import" screen, and then when I select the range and click ok, it says "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." And then it closes.
My operating system is Windows XP, the photoshop type I use is CS3 as I mentioned before, and I have installed Quicktime 7.3.5.
I checked one of the files I tried to use with the Mediainfo program as suggested, and got the following:
    Format: MPEG-4
    Format profile: Quicktime
    Codec ID: qt
    File size: 176 MiB
    Duration: 18mn 33s
Overall bit rate: 1 327 Kbps
    Writing application: Lavf53.24.2
Hopefully this is enough information for someone out there to help me, because I haven't the slightest idea how to fix it. Thank you in advance.

Convert the file in ffmpeg/ MPEGStreamclip or another tool or export it from Quicktime Pro using anotehr CoDec. PS just sucks at dealing with these compressed files and using such an old version doesn't help with contemporary digital video from a camera...

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crashes when building forms

Not sure whats going on here. I have built numerous sites
containing handfuls of standard forms yet no problems. Now all of a
sudden when I open a particular page it causes DW to crash. Today I
created a new form page which had no problems then I realised I
would need to split the form into two pages as it was too big for
    one page.
I cut half the form and pasted it into a new blank template
page then hit save and sure enough that crashed and now will not
open in DW without causing a system crash.
    Has anyone seen this before?

  • Encore CS3 crashes when importing Blu-Ray timeline

In Premiere Pro CS3 I ad the chapter markers and then export to Encore.  In an hour and a half Encore opens
says it is importing M2V file and crashes.
I tried to import into a new project and it failed also.
    Sadly it worked perfectly once.
Any workaround solution to another Adobe bug?

Try going to Support > Updates then select the drop-down for Premiere Pro.  There should be a few update patches to download.  After that, do the same for Encore.  I remember seeing somewhere in the updates that it resolves that problem.

Edit: Now i have also tried uninstalling quick time and all of the video codec packs on my computer, this also didn't help (i did remember to restart afterwards)
Edit: Also, i started a new thread because nothing in any of the other threads on this same or similar errors was at all helpful to me.
edit3: i might also add that i have after effects 6.5 and it works just fine, though its much older.

  • InDesign CS3 crashes when importing

I'm using Windows, and this is a new problem that's recently arisen. When I try to import content (pdf, primarily), I get a pop-up window that says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" (a solution never is available, big surprise). There's no option but to close InDesign. Any suggestions?

  • My Dreamweaver CS3 crashes

For now reason at all, my Dreamweaver CS3 crashes, when I
    load the application up.
Its the same error message but repeated for three different
    locations:
Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard, Adobe Dreamweaver CS3,
    Share components.
    The error message:
Component install failed. The original installation media has
    been moved or deleted.
Replace the media at it original location: C:\Documents and
    Settings\...\Local Settings\Application
    Data\Installer2244\payloadsAdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0All\AdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0.2Al l.msi
Is this the reason why my application fails. If so where do I
get this file? Can I just create the folder structure manually?
I don't understand why it CS3 crashes, I was using it fine,
playing around with spry, then I loaded up Fireworks, then
    Dreamweaver crashed

Are you trying to re-install the application? This is what
appears is happening from the error messages.
If you aren't doing that then something was corrupted and you
may need to reinstall by first de-activating the software package
via another CS3 application under the Help menu. And then you would
need to run the CS3 clean tool to uninstall and then you would need
to load the media from CS3 to re-install.

  • Crash when updating site cache?  MM_Username1?

    Hi,
All of a sudden, tonight, DW8.0.2 will no longer open or load
    one of my
sites, crashing when "Updating Site Cache". The site is ASP
    linked to an SQL
    database.
Checking the file that the cache gets to, I notice that the
    problem file is
within a sub-directory of the site, called "/admin". Thing is
    though, it's
not always the same file, but it IS always a file within the
    /admin
    sub-directory.
Within this sub-directory I altered, by hand, the Login User
    code and
Restrict Access to Page code to create and use the session
    variable
MM_Username1 as opposed to the default MM_Username.
Could this be the reason for the sudden trouble with the site
    cache? I am
puzzled because the site was working fine for a few weeks
    now, with this
    sub-directory included, and I didn't create the MM_Username1
    issue today
either, it has also been working fine for a good few weeks
    now. I've also
not added anything new to the site, that I am aware of.
When I remove the sub-directory from the site, the Updating
    Site Cache works
fine, so I am 100% sure there is a problem with the files
    within this
sub-directory. How will I know which one though?
I've tried this, as recommended by Adobe, but I still get a
    freeze-up when
    re-creating the cache:
    1. Try renaming the Dreamweaver user configuration folder, so
    that
Dreamweaver will automatically generate a new user
    configuration folder the
next time Dreamweaver launches. The Configuration folder is
    located here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration
    2. Recreate your Dreamweaver user settings in the registry as
    follows:
Launch the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button,
    choose Run, then
type "regedit". In the Registry Editor, navigate to this
    folder:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8
Rename the "Dreamweaver 8" key to "DreamweaverOLD", so that
    Dreamweaver will
automatically generate a new user settings key the next time
    you launch it.
    3. Recreate your Dreamweaver site definitions in the registry
    as follows.
The steps below will delete your site definitions in
    Dreamweaver.
    4. Launch the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button,
    choose Run, then
type "regedit". In the Registry Editor, navigate to this
    folder:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Common\8\Sites
Rename the "Sites" key to "SitesOLD", so that Dreamweaver
    will automatically
generate a new Sites key the next time you launch it.
    Any further advice?
    Regards
    nath.

    Found it! Jeesh.
I had a querystring value in my UPDATE redirect URL which was
    coded
    incorrectly!!!
I am frustrated that, rather than just highlighting the error
    or, at the
very least, producing an error when opening the specific
    file, this type of
thing crashed the entire DW programme.
The time I spent in Notepad today changing MM_Username1 back
    to
MM_Username!! Turns out that was nothing to do with it.
    <groan> Yeah,
that's right, laugh it up! :o)
    Anyway, solved now. A misplaced ", %, ), (, <, >, &
    etc can cause you no
    end of grief! :o(
    Nath.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crashes HELP!

I'm working on a project in DreamweaverCS3 using Coldfusion
    7.0.2.
I have a page that has some drop down menus that are
populated via a coldfusion query. When I click on the
<cfselect> statement line (I need to edit this one value to
fix the page), Dreamweaver CS3 crashes.
I have never seen this before ever. Has anyone else seen this
type of thing with there CS3?
The other thing I completely hate about Dreamweaver is when i
preview an HTML page in a browser window and sometimes when I go
back and forth between the browser and Dreamweaver, I won't be able
to save the file because I get a sharing violation error. So i have
to either wait a few minutes before i can save for some reason or I
have to shut down the browser.
I used to use Homesite and i always, always could preview in
a new browser window, make edits, and refresh the page. Life was
good. This disrupts my workflow and i think Adobe should consider
changing how Dreamweaver handles files in CS4 and hopefully do away
with this bug. Its extremely annoying and slows me down.
What sucks is i spend all of this money on CS3 Web Premium
and now i have to use wordpad to edit this file so i can move
    on!

I like to use server-side includes for site wide menus, headers and footers.
    http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/server_side_includes.asp
Some people like to use DW Templates to create their site pages.   If you use a Template.dwt, you can put your site wide menu and other common page elements into it and they will appear on all child pages created from that Template file.
    http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/dreamweaver_template.asp#1
    DIFFERENCES:
SSI works on the server.  Edit one file, upload and you're done. Your hosting provider needs to support the use of includes in either .shtml,  .asp or .php pages.
DW Templates only work in Dreamweaver sites.  And you must re-publish all child pages after editing your Template.dwt file.
