Dreamweaver CS3 enable synchronization

I have recently installed Dreamweaver CS3 and created a site. For this site, I wish to enable synchronization. However, when I go to the the Site Definition window (Click on "Site" from the menu, then "Manage Sites," then select my site and click "Edit," then click the "Advanced" tab, then choose "Remote Info" from the options on the left), the option for "Manage synchronization information" is grayed out. As a result, the "Synchronize" button (the two arrows running in a circle) in the "Files" section is grayed out, as is "Synchronize sitewide" under the "Site" menu.
How do I fix this to enable synchronization?

How is your remote server currently set up?
I could pull out the old iMac and set something up similarly to test it in my CS3 and see if it was a version specific issue. It could also be that you have something wrong in your remote server settings that would make synchronization of files impossible.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Synchronization

I have been having two issues with synchronization with
Dreamweaver CS3. When I synchronize sitewide Dreamweaver brings up
the list of pages that have changed but doesn't always include
pages that I know have been changed. Then I select to put the
files. If I do a synchronization some time later the same list of
files appears. The only way I can prevent this from happening is to
go directly to the file and select put. Any help on how to fix
    this?
    Thanks

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I was wondering if you'd
learned anything since you posted this question? I have a template
that has 100 pages connected to it. If i make a change to the
template, it updates the 100 pages but then when I go to sync, it
only finds 60 of those pages that have been changed.
    Anyone have any advice? thanks.

  • Flash Web Gallery edited in DreamWeaver CS3 or CS4

I use Lightroom 2.6 to create Flash Galleries. I'd like to add a link to the template in Dreamweaver CS3 or Trial CS4. However, the following message keeps appearing:
Sorry, this photo gallery requires that scripting be enabled on your web browser and that the Adobe Flash Player be installed. Down
    load the Adobe Flash Player
I have checked to verify the Flash Player is installed and working properly. I have doubled check to make sure scripts are allowed in my browser...Mozilla. I also installed, uninstalled and installed Flash Player several times.
The index page is html so what am I missing?
    Grace_h

    Hi
It's probably due to the way you have 'linked' to your images in lightroom not being relative to the images address in your dreamweaver page.
Place your images in a folder within your dreamweaver site and create your lightroom page in the same folder.

  • My hard drive crashed and I need to re-install Dreamweaver CS3

My hard drive crashed and I need to re-install Dreamweaver CS3. I have my license but I cannot find a copy of the software. I found some comments that Adobe is not making it available for download. I would like to continue to use this version.  Anyone have any ideas on where I can find a copy of Dreamweaver CS3?

if you follow all 7 steps you can dl a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
    and activate with your serial.
if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

  • Disappearing palettes in Dreamweaver CS3

After launching Dreamweaver CS3 on my MacBook Pro in Mac OSX
10.4.9, I discovered that my insert bar, properties palette and
many of the other palettes had become transparent with only their
title bars visible. Clicking inside the invisibale areas simply
brought the desktop or whatever was visible underneath to the
front. I searched for every forum and Google search with no luck.
If anyone else is experiencing this, I found the solution and offer
    it here.
There is a conflict with Unsanity's ShapeShifter interface
customization program. When ShapeShifter is enabled, it will cause
palettes in Dreamweaver CS3 on an Intel Mac to become transparent.
To resolve this, go the System Preferences window and click on
ShapeShifter. Click on the Exclude List tab, click the Add button
and select the Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 application icon and click
    Add.
Relaunch Dreamweaver and everything should be back to normal,
except that the Dreamweaver interface will return to the original
    Aqua scheme.
Apparently, this happens only in Dreamweaver CS3 and no other
Creative Suite apps seem to be affected.

There's another fix that saves the cosmetics at the cost of a
little speed. Make sure Dreamweaver is closed. Select the
Dreamweaver CS3 application, then Get Info. Check the box to run
the program under Rosetta. Close Get Info. When you relaunch
Dreamweaver (assuming you haven't added it to Shapeshifter's
exclude list), it will open with the palettes showing properly and
    with the Shapeshifter theme applied.

  • Uploading in Dreamweaver CS3

Hi. When I used Dreamweaver 2004 MX, it was great because I
would upload a file and Dreamweaver be smart and only UPLOAD the
local files that had been CHANGED.
However, now that I have Dreamweaver CS3, it insists on
uploading EVERYTHING in the folder, whether it has changed or not.
Can anyone help? This is very, very frustrating!

    > But the new Dreamweaver doesn't do this. If I say to
    upload the whole folder,
    > it uploads ALL 233 files EVERY SINGLE TIME.
on a guess- look in this site definition.
Some where it has a choice for maintaining sync information.
    enable that.
to sync, right-click on the folder you want to upload in the
    files panel.
Pick sync. Dw will scan the folder, show a list of newer
    files and prompt
    you to continue

  • Dynamic drop down list crash dreamweaver CS3

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with Dreamweaver CS3.I'm running it with
    Vista SP1
I try to create a mysql dynamic dropdown list in AJAX with
    this
    Tutorial
Once the form is created and when I try to insert the php
code and change the name of the variable , Dreamweaver crash
    everytime and close.
I tried also with other tutorial and codes but it crashes
everytime I insert some dynamic dropdown list.
If someone ever encountered this probleme or have any idea
    ... thanks !!

The Preview function is a development feature to demonstrate the results of merging data (the .xml specificed in Form Properties > Preview > Data File) with the .xdp or .pdf. When you open in the form in Reader or Acrobat the same .xml file is not merged with the form automatically.
To get data into a PDF you have a number of options including:
    1) use LiveCycle Forms ES server-side solution to do data merge
    2) use a data connection to a database or a Web Service
    3) use JavaScript importData() or FormCalc get()
To use options 2) and 3) the form has to be rights-enabled for the respective function to work in Reader.
If you use option 3), you can attach the JavaScript 'xfa.host.importData()' to a button or some other event. When importData() fires it will prompt the user with a file browser to pick the .xml. The importData() method will work if the PDF is rights-enabled, only. Open the PDF in Acrobat Professional, from the toolbar, select 'Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader' and save the PDF.
Note, if you specify the .xml file name in importData(), the PDF must be certified. This is for security purposes.

  • How do I install Dreamweaver CS3?

I've been using Dreamweaver CS3 on my MacBook. I just bought an iMac and want to install the same program there. I downloaded the installer from my Adobe account, but it says I need a CD to install, even though I originally bought the program online and don't have a CD. Is there something I don't know about installing the program?

Well, I assumed that if I bought online, then a digital copy would always be available online. Other sites I have bought software from still have live links even though I might not have downloaded from them for five plus years. I did it only just a week back actually.
With downloads, I always burn a copy to DVD, but if three years and one day down the line I am still using the software as a main source of income, then my house burns down, I've lost both my hard copy and the online digital copy too.
By all means stop support for something that is so old because it is going to take up staff resources, but to enable a piece of software to be downloaded after a three year period is not going to impact on their day-to-day operations other than having to allow for disk space for storage. In fact, it takes effort to have disable the ability to download it whether it be an automatic or human instigated process.
If you speak with adobe staff at a trade show, they help you with any help you might need on older versions... but I guess that's because you are in their face while asking the question!

  • Centering a flash movie within Dreamweaver cs3 on Y axis

I have published a movie in Flash cs3 which has generated an html document however the Flash movie is not automatically centered I have attempted to centrally align the movie within Dreamweaver cs3 by adding:
<center> after the opening body tag and </center> befor the closing body tag
This method has centered on the X axis but not the Y axis
I would have put in a table or a div tag, but when I open the html doc in Dreamweaver I have no visible repressentation of the Flash movie in the design view as I would have if I had created an html document from scratch and draged the movie onto the page, all I can see is the "get flash" hypertext and some other text. I did actually experiment by creating a div tag and dragged my movie into it but ended up with two movies one sitting on top of the other when I ran it in a browser lol.  I'm quite intimdated by code and much prefer to work in the design view (wysiwyg and all that) which is quite restricting.
Any advice for centering on the Y axis would be much apreciated, Thanks in advance, Dave

I don't believe there is code to prevent this from happening
on a client computer. The default is enabled my Microsoft, what
should happen is a yellow bar should appear at the top of the
browser which will allow you view the content.
What might work is to use a program called Zinc by a company
call Multidmedia Limited www.multidmedia.com. Search the site for
samples, one of the samples is a Flash Browser this will run Flash
a browser that you can use. You will need to change the URL a bit
in the Flash code but it's very clear on how to do this.
What this will do is run your web site in a Flash browser I
did a quick test and I did not get any errors. The program will
create an EXE file. I also believe they have a MAC version if you
need one. With a simple "Autorun" call on the CD-ROM you could have
this up and running in not time.
Just be careful of how you call the pages. Since the web site
is not running from a Web server you need to make sure that your
links are local and not Site Root. The best way to test is to
disconnect your computer from your internet and see how it runs.
You want the CD to be self-contained and not have to get content
from the web (your end user may be on a laptop and not connected).
    Good Luck

  • Who uses Dreamweaver CS3 on Mac OS X?

    Howdy,
I'm curious to know how many of you here use Dreamweaver CS3
on the Mac? Not bothered bout you Windows users, I've used it on
there and it's fine (although bulky and slow).
I made the switch to mac a long while back, and coming from
Windows and HomeSite (oh how much I love homesite!!!) the natural
move was to go to Dreamweaver. So I bought a retail copy (along
with PhotoShop CS3) for quite a bit of cash, and I don't use CS3 as
its pretty damn awful on OSX!
By the way, I NEVER touch the WYSIWYG part of Dreamweaver
(wish I could delete all WYSIWYG stuff from it, as that what slows
    it down I'm sure)
To name a few bugs (I'd like to know if you experience these
    too):
    1. It's very slow and bulky, I mean just moving the cursor to
a new line in code view is slow, just doesn't feel good. It
actually feels like its about to crash on me any minute! And I'm on
a 6GB 8 cOre 2.8GHz Mac Pro... so its not my Mac :)
    2. I set my toolbars up to my own preference (i.e. I like to
have the "Standard" menu showing and the "Document" one not) then
suddenly out of the blue "Standard" has gone and the "Document" one
is there. Sometimes I boot up and all is good, open a document and
it disappears (along with the line numbers on the left), right
clicking says its still there but it isn't.
    3. Certain folders on the left file view REFUSE to close! I
collapse them, open another folder up (uncollapse) and what do you
know, the other folder pops open again. Close and open dreamweaver
its open again... I've never manged to close this particular
folder, dreamweaver really likes it for some reason?
There are plenty more, but they are the main ones!
The unfortunate thing is I cannot find a good alternative on
OS X for syntax highlighting, the fact that HTML elements are
coloured differently is invaluable to me, and thats one of the main
things I love bout Dreamweaver (not to mention the global replace
feature that other IDE's don't include)?
Bring HomeSite to OS X is what I say :)
What is your experience of DW CS3 on OS X? Does it all work
correclty for you? Or are you annoyed by it too?

I plotted my escape from Microsoft for years before I finally
    knew
enough about software and the technologies I was using and
    had
sufficient money to make the leap. (I went for a top of the
    line MacBook
    Pro.)
On the negative side, I've learned that the Mac isn't a free
    ride.
Upgrading to Leopard was a wrestling match, as was upgrading
    to Adobe
Creative Suite (largely because certain sales people sold me
    the wrong
upgrade package - twice). I'm also bothered by a number of
    annoyances
that sometimes remind me of my Windows PC.
However, I'm working with a far greater variety of software
    programs
than I ever had on my PC, and the annoyances seldom turn into
    the minor
catastrophes that made life with M$ living Hell.
So far, Dreamweaver is working fine for me. The biggest
    annoyance is the
fact that it likes to jump back and forth between "Spaces,"
    though
Spaces remains my favorite Leopard feature.
I'm sorry you're having problems with yours - and I was
    shocked to hear
that that Rosetta crap also applies to Dreamweaver. I'd never
    heard of
Rosetta until I had some problems with my browsers. Enabling
    Rosetta
fixed the problem, but, sheez - all that Rosetta business
    sounds like
something that came straight from Bill Gates' living room. So
    I'm not
sure if the problem ultimately rests with Adobe, Mac OS X or
    both.
Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the situation to
    advise you.
However, if you live near a sizeable Apple store, schedule an
appointment with their "Mac Geniuses." I've gone in to see
    them at 7
a.m. a couple times - free of charge - and they were a big
    help.
If you're using Leopard, I assume you've already installed
    the two
updates - 10.5.1 and 10.5.2. Ironically, the second update
    appeared to
create one of the very problems it's supposed to eliminate.
    (Whether or
not it's actually a problem is a matter of debate in the Mac
    community;
it hasn't actually caused any problems for me.)
You might also try posting some questions on Apple's forums -
    http://discussions.apple.com.
If nothing works, and you do go back to M$, I certainly
    wouldn't hold it
against you. If Apple and/or Adobe don't have their act
    together, then
you can't blame people for returning to a platform that
    works. However,
I have much greater confidence in both Apple and Adobe to fix
    their
problems in the long run than I do in Microsoft. Even if you
    get
Dreamweaver to work on your PC, will your other software
    programs work?
In summary, I've learned that there's no free ride in
    computing. But I
still prefer my Mac to M$, and I don't believe I've heard as
    many
complaints about Dreamweaver on a Mac as I have about Vista.
    But do
    whatever's best for you.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 will not save page

I have few details as I'm troubleshooting for a client, but hopefully someone can help get me to the answer...
Client has Dreamweaver CS3. Been using it for about a year (and before that, earlier versions). One person now cannot save files. After making a change, Save is still gray and keyboard shortcut (ctrl+S) does not work.
Other things I know (via phone conversation):
    - Using Windows XP
    - Check in/Check Out is enabled, and she is able to check out the file
    - Editing on local and uploading to remote
    - Other people within organization can save changes to the same pages
    - all users have same FTP username and password
    - I am using DW 8 and can access, make changes and save to same pages
    - She can Save As...
    Any ideas will help.
    Thanks in advance!

If you go to the Adobe Support Knowledgebase, you can find
    this sort of
answer for yourself. Type "licensing has stopped working"
    into the
"Search for" field, select "Dreamweaver" from the "Product"

    What does doesn't work mean?
Once the user has logged in, can you output the MM_Username
session variable to the page (in particular the page that the log
in user behavior has set for a successful log in)? You can do that
by simply selecting it in the Bindings panel and dragging into the
design view then previewing the page (after you've logged in of
    course).
Also to get better responses (and more folks looking at it),

Thanks for the response. I managed to Google the 'nobody' account and found the explanation.
As you say, I assumed the 'syslogd' process had to do with system logs. I did check the console and couldn't find anything of particular interest in the logs.
I'll continue to monitor but if anyone has any further suggestions please post.
One thing that might also have an impact... my available drive space is now down to less than 5gb (runs anywhere between 1gb and 5gb free depending on what I'm running). I know this causes problems for Parallels as it keeps moaning at me, but would it cause any problems with OSX?
    Thanks again,

  • "New" Godaddy webhosting account's won't work w/Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
I am having problems getting my Godaddy webhosting account's to work with Dreamweaver CS3. My older accounts work, it is my newer (last 6 months) accounts that have this issue. The ftp information works in my CuteFTP8 Professional. I called Godaddy tech support several times and they could not figure out. And, since it works in my FTP program, they said it is a Dreamweaver issue.
In the FTP host Remote Info I have tried www.domain.com, domain.com, ftp.domain.com with login and password. I also tried checking Use passive FTP, Use IPv6 Transfer mode, Use Secure FTP (SFTP) and leaving them all unchecked. The error message I always get is:
An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. No response from the server. This may be due to one or more of the following reasons: etc.
I compared information with my Dreamweaver accounts that do worked and still no luck.
The only thing I can think of is when you create a new hosting account with Godaddy, depending on the month, you are assigned a different web server. Could it be the old Godaddy web servers work and the new web servers may have different settings that don't work with Dreamweaver? Or, I need different setting information??? I am at my wits end.
Any help on this would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    MonaE

    Hi Mona:
If your FTP client works, then there has to be some miniscule detail that's different between that setup and what you're inputting into your DW Manage sites.  Maybe you should print out your successful FTP setup details, and compare to what's in your DW...
If this helps, this info came from GoDaddy's help section:
From the Site menu, select Manage Sites.
In the Manage Sites box, Click New, then choose Site.
In the Site Definition box, enter the name and URL of your website and clickNext.
If a certain type of server technology is necessary for the site to function, selectyes. Otherwise, select no and click Next.
For working with files during development, select Edit local copies on my machine...(recommended). It is very important that they select this option.
    Enter connection information as follows:
How do you connect to your remote server?
    FTP
What is the hostname or FTP address of your web server?
    ftp.domainname.com
What folder on the server do you want to store your files in?
    / or blank
Enter your FTP login and FTP Password
    Click Next.
For checking in and out files, select No, do not enable..
Review the summary to be sure all information is accurate, then click Done.
I have a dozen sites hosted at GD, and in most cases (where I had trouble), it was operator error.  Good luck!

  • Dreamweaver CS3 strange FTP problem

    Helllo,
I have just passed from windows to Mac (I got Leopard) .... I
    have installed Dreamweaver CS3
and I have imported all the site definition (like Host FTP,
username, password, etc...) from the windows version
But when I try to connect to any server, I recive this error
"An FTP error occured - cannot make connection to host
no response from the server this may be due to one or more
    reasons:
    - Accessing the server requires firewall settings that aren't
properly set. Please verify that the firewall settings in the Site
category of the Preferences dialog box are properly set, and that
the Use Firewall option in the Site definition dialog box is
    selected.
    - The server may be accepting only passive mode or only
active mode. Toggling the "Use Passive FTP" checkbox may help you
    establish a connection.
    - If you are connecting to an IPv6 enabled server, please
select "Use IPv6 transfer mode" checkbox in the Advanced site
    definition dialog.
    - Your local firewall may be blocking the incoming FTP data.
Please disable it to see if it makes a difference.
    - It is possible your FTP may be using a non-standard FTP
port (21). If you need to specify a non-standard port, enter the
port number after host name separated by a colon":". "
I have tryed to use other FTP programs and I got mix results:
Cyber Duck and Fetch are working
Fugu and Filezilla for Mac do not connect to any server
I am clueless .... .... can someone give me a hand?
    thanks in advance

    Are you running a firewall?
